    What happens if you get a little antifreeze/coolant in the holes (intake) when taking it apart?

    • @maxnguyen22
      @maxnguyen22  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can be ran or vacuum it out. Just empty the radiator 1st. Then stuff the holes with thick rags

    Just wanted to say Great video man. I’m currently changing both my knock sensors and gaskets. Cleaning the intake out. I’m about to remove the 2nd piece of the air intake. Do I need to drain the coolant? That’s my ? Thanks again

    Hey Max, I have my 2000 Rx300 same motor almost apart down to the manifold. I would like to know how you got the two back bolts back in. Any tricks?

    • @maxnguyen22
      @maxnguyen22  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the right side i hand fed tight as i can then used a flat ratchet to tighten it. there is two on the left side, and one on the right. remove all the hoses. be sure to twist the hose with a pair of pliers first dont force anything. hope this helps

    Hey. Why in your car green antifreeze? Should be pink for Asian cars.

    • @hedga001
      @hedga001 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! Toyota/Lexus/Scion require the Pink POAT coolant that last 7 years 150000 miles because the old green IAT coolant that only lasts 3 years can destroy the cooling system on those cars. Peak sales it at AZ and AAP for 20.00 per gallon.

    • @joevignolor4u949
      @joevignolor4u949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxnguyen22 Not the coolant reservoir. You have to remove the coolant outlet. And to do that you also have to remove the bracket that sits on top of the water outlet.

    What was the mileage when the sensors failed?

    • @joevignolor4u949
      @joevignolor4u949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On my 2000 Lexus ES300 I started getting the check engine light and knock sensor code at around 156,000 miles. My understanding is that this is typically the mileage when this problem occurs in these vehicles. Also, it's usually not the sensors that fail. It's usually the short wiring harness that goes from the knock sensors to the main wiring harness. However, after you do all the work required to get down inside there you should change both knock sensors, the wiring harness and the bypass hose. And make sure you use OEM sensors and an OEM harness and not aftermarket parts. You definitely don't want to have to go down in there again.

      Harrison Edgar In the video, the overflow tank has green antifreeze in it so it’s not the original red/pink coolant. Universal is fine. You don’t “have” to put the original coolant in it
