    It's amazing how incredibly difficult the engineers make it just to gain access to a simple part. Considering the age if this vehicle, I am actually surprised that with the number of parts involved in this disassembly, that other parts didn't break and require replacement as well. In complicated jobs such as this, it certainly pays to use OEM parts because I've found the aftermarket stuff is such a gamble these days.
    Thanks for posting such an excellent tutorial.

      Yeah this is one of the hardest engines from Toyota in that era to work on. Not fun to do spark plugs either. This is my 2nd time doing this job and I was dreading it due to how time consuming and possibility of parts breaking along the way. Toyota connectors are just know to fall apart and crumble! Glad the video could inform and help and thank you for your feedback. Cheers!

    I have a question did all the coolant fall on the ground ?

    • @MobileCarMechanic
      @MobileCarMechanic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes it did! Had forgotten that there was a coolant passage.

      @@MobileCarMechanic what's the best way to either have that not happen or to catch the fluid and second question did you need to put more antifreeze, and did you have any issues with circulation afterward, next question what sensors did you use meaning brand what would you recommend 1st and 2nd choices be for them, thank you in advance and this video was extremely helpful.

      I would recommend having a pan to collect the fluid and drain from the petcock on the radiator before starting the job as it will minimize the mess. Coolant wont typically leave a stain for too long like oil will in case it happens. I used the Dorman sensor kit which worked out for me and was able to get the car passed for emissions, Otherwise the Original Sensors are Denso's which are going to be sold individually without the wire harness which is also recommend to replace and will cost significantly more but will be 100 percent confirmed no issues. This is what I ordered from amazon amzn.to/43VZNDz You will also need to refill the antifreeze as it will be completely or mostly drained.

    I really appreciate the great video but talk about doing the bare minimum job. Didn't clean anything while you were in there, didn't replace the coolant hose and reused all the old gaskets. Cheap and fast as possible. But still I appreciate the steps showing us

      Thank you for the feedback, I do agree with the gaskets being replaced, did cleaning off camera as there were rodents in the crevices which took some time. Mainly wanted to show how to remove the components and reinstall. Cheers!

      @@MobileCarMechanic it was more helpful than you know as I just bought the same car today with the same issues.

      Glad the video was a helpful resource, I’d recommend changing the spark plugs while you in there too.

    @MobileCarMechanic ... Great Video! The only thing that I would add is that those intake ports to the engine should really be covered with a towel or something, while you're messing around with all those little screws and things. If something falls in there... You're Screwed! But you got pulled it off ok.👍All Good.
    I Do Have Two Questions... ES300 is my 2nd car. I replaced the knock sensors 2 years ago, when I was in there replacing the busted coolant bypass hose. I bought some cheap sensors off Amazon and since then I've had an engine light and code. So... I'm a little weary of getting the Dorman's. IT'S A LOT OF WORK!!! Would you recommend the Dorman anyway? Or should I go with the more expensive Denso, to insure no issues? ------------ Also... I noticed you didn't replace the intake gaskets, which I believe is recommended. Do you have any performance issues due to air leakage? What would you recommend as far as that? ........ THANKS IN ADVANCE.

      Thank You! You are correct that you should cover the intake ports as it would be a nightmare if you started the car with something in there. Made sure to vacuum them off camera in case any debris got in there. I would recommend replacing the gaskets. Even though i hadn't replaced the gaskets the vehicle ran perfectly fine as it did before with no leaks. One thing I did have happen after reassembly was a fuel leak as one of the o-rings on the fuel injectors popped off somewhere and i didn't catch it. Once i purchased the replacement o-ring everything was working as it should. I did read mixed reviews on the Dorman and decided to chance it. It worked out great and the light check engine light didn't come back on which i needed off to pass an emissions. If you want piece of mind then go with the Denso's and get a sensor harness too.

      @@MobileCarMechanic ... Thanks for the reply. Since I replaced the gaskets when I went in 2 years ago, I may just use the same gaskets. If yours were okay, (probably the originals from the year 2000) I think I may be safe doing that. Speaking of that... I think maybe u should have replaced that hose while in there, if u're planning on keeping the car.
      Anyway... I kept the old knock sensors when I replaced them. They were the originals, and there was no issue with them when I took them out. And since I'm planning on selling the car right after, I may just reinstall them. What Do You Think About That Idea?
