    Yeah...this song is known for the guitar, but the DRUMMING is equally amazing, and Justin Chancellor is almost always forgotten, but he's an amazing, consistent MACHINE on the bass.

    • @ashleygoggs5679

      i honestly thought this album was justin chancellors album, his bass was perfect on every song what an absolute masterpiece.

    • @syedhasan7724
      @syedhasan7724 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Chancellor's like that one dude in every social gathering who doesn't speak much. But when he talks, you LISTEN, and his words are memorable. Chancellor's ability to switch from consistent rhythm to memorable lead always amazes me. But he is so underrated (relatively speaking) that a complete tool like myself will often confuse his parts for Adam's e.g that insane bass solo in Invincible or in Vicarious.

    • @justinrisen1929

    • @justinrisen1929
      @justinrisen1929 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Um Justin is never forgotten lol so much of Tools music is precession first and Justin's Bass is front and center. Adam accentuates it all and MJK tells the story. Not one of them is ever underutilized and that is what makes Tool so amazing to me because no other band is like em

    • @AVerySillySausage
      @AVerySillySausage ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ashleygoggs5679 I thought the opposite, I was disappointed by the lack of emphasis on bass in the last album. It was mostly Adam's album. 10k Days was Justin's album.

    I have to say as a drummer... Danny's drumming on this album which has always been outstanding reached a new level of limb independence. That's amazing considering that these guys aren't youngsters any more. He will surely be a part of the legendary club of drummers like Neil Pert, Vinnie Colaiuta, Etc... Just gets better with age!!

    Tool has never sounded more like Rush than on this tune. Without sounding anything like them at all, the instrumentation, the guitar the drums the bass, all soloing at the same time yet blending together seamlessly, is a testament to their talent of time signatures, changing tempos and production values. • @TheBlackQueen
      @TheBlackQueen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I rank it number 3. I liked the more matured sound and arrangements of the songs and I think this is Danny Carey at the best he's ever been. Of course, 7empest is the highlight, though Pneuma and Descending I think are also fantastic tracks. Invincible and Fear Inoculum are solid tracks too but not as good as the previous three mentioned. Culling Voices for some reason I really enjoy despite hearing that people refer to it as the weakest of the main six songs.
      My list;
      #1; Lateralus
      #2; Ænima
      #3; Fear Inoculum
      #4; 10,000 Days
      #5; Undertow
      #6; Opiate
      2 and 4 keep switching around but I feel Fear Inoculum lands perfectly at #3.

      I think it's more of a grower than most Tool albums... and i think the long wait meant some Tool fan's taste changed, so they weren't inclined/able to give it the necessary listens to let the album sink in. Especially since many of us have aged from single college students to married with kids since the last album. and the opportunities to really listen to an album are few and farther between.

  • @paulwellens3324

    Vin, appreciate your take on the Fear Inoculum album - figured this would be the song you would like most as it is the most metal of the bunch. The band had been 'maturing' for a long time, and an additional 13 years between albums added to that (Danny Carey is now 58 ! and Maynard no longer can scream like used to). Reflects in their sound and style, but to me this is still the best sounding album I've heard by anyone in a long time - Pneuma, this track & Descending are exceptional. Definitely need to be willing to put in the time with it, and of course, like anything, not for everyone. What I find interesting is that the Tool fans who are most critical of it are generally the ones who want the raw, heavier, angrier sound from the past - some AEnima, but even more so back to Undertow & Opiate. But on this channel, you haven't really done much from those (nothing from Opiate & only Sober / Undertow from that one if I'm correct) - perhaps you could dive in there & may find it more to be the Tool style of your liking (Bottom perhaps as a start ?)

    • @marcilgen8588
      @marcilgen8588 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! The people who are disappointed in this album tend to be younger metal fans who want the Tool of AEnima, with all it's youthful energy and angst. That Tool no longer exists - they have grown up. This is a more mature, more musically sophisticated Tool. This is the album where Adam, Danny and Justin get to come into their own as incredible musicians and creators. Past albums were more about Maynard's brilliantly creative and esoteric lyrics and his intense energy. This album is where his fellow bandmates really get to shine, with more heavy prog elements. As an older fan, I think this album is absolutely brilliant.

    The parent/child comparison to the government is weird because the intended role of the government is completely inversed. We pay the government to act on our behalf by way of taxation, so it wouldn't be like a parent lying to its child - it would be like an employee lying to their employer and not getting reprimanded. We are the parent to the government, and when politicians lie it is the child lying to the parent. Everyone in office deserves a spanking.

    Very good Reaction, the Kind of Content I subscribed for. :) (It was Rosetta Stoned tht I saw first on your -channel -- Instant-Subscribe.) And yes, I'd also give it a Thumbs up if the Rating had been lower. ;) In Terms of Audio, the funny Thing about The 7empest is that it sounds a Bit more like their first Records, before Ænima, but newer -- that is basically the more "metal" Aspect which you have noticed. When I first heard the Song, I immediately thought to myself "huh, is this about Trump??" -- though I thought the "Tempest" was also referring to the Person in the Song (i.e. supposedly Trump)... chaotic, wild, potentially destructive, and yet a Symbol of Power and Might, but it needs to be kept at Bay so that Tempest won't wreak Havoc... maybe like Trump on Twitter, or maybe like the Corona-Virus or other Kinds of Disasters, or maybe the Line is blurry. Anyway, good Reaction, Thumbs up! :)

    I think by saying Tempest, he is referring to his intemperance during his youth or younger self, that dominated his music and lyrics throughout the early days of Tool and APC ect. He's saying a 'Tempest' must be true to his nature, doubt isn't an option. I think he's grown a lot, 'think' he HAS grown a lot through the years spiritually and i believe what he's saying is he no longer has the same sort of view's he once held and is trying in some way to atone for the damage he feels he may have caused through the angered and drug/alcohol damaged years.
    But by being that 'Tempest' that raging storm of emotion he's attracted a different type of following almost cult like, who want to hear or see that same rage or anger, so in their eye's, a Tempest cannot doubt himself. He has to be just that.
    Or maybe it's not even rage or anger, maybe he's speaking to all of it. Maybe he's growing weary of doing the 'Tool' thing, or music in general. Invincible does talk about growing older and such, so maybe he's telling all of us that he no longer feels the way his previous self felt, i dunno i go back and forth with myself in my head with what i'm typing and as i'm typing so i could go on and on and on about different view's and opinions about the matter; however, i will end it here. Thank you to anyone who reads this lol.

It's the refined version of everything they've ever done. I dont like comparing this album to other Tool albums. It is a great work of art, but it is totally different. I hated it on first listen! Tempest and Pneuma are one of my favorite Tool songs now. It is all about detail - Tempest sounds Rushy and King Crimsony as hell - the intro for example! How many subtle musical changes are there in the rhytms! Invincible is great too - it is a medieval song inspired by traditioonal European music - in those guitar riffs, there are flutes and strings. It is an adaptation of troubadour song in our times. So.... good for them, good that they are always changing and evolving, not playing the same music for decades. I hope the next album will be different and diffucult to adjust to as well. :)

    Not exactly a song built for a first reaction, but they all deserve a listen. That's a 15 minute song, and with a 15 minute ride you cannot fully appreciate until you become quite familiar with it (captain obvious). Not saying you cannot like it right off the bat, but listening more and more to give you that comfort level, knowing every twist and turn, will enrich it's total enjoyment. It's a long ride.
    You are exactly right about Trump. Even though Maynard never gives specifics, this song seems directed toward Trump. He can't stop an asshole from being an asshole. He is the storm, and you can't stop him from being so, or from what he is. Maynard is certainly pointing the finger, but being totally obvious was never Maynard's gig. The problem with the gov lying to us has a super thick line drawn. Sometimes the gov lies and that's a good thing. Trump has no concept of this and just lies all the time. It's very sad his base will always back up this very ill man. Just crazy. I always wonder how far Trump could go and still his followers believe him? Scary shit.
    On the metal thing...It is said "Ticks & Leeches" was written because whoever was in charge of releasing the album wanted a song that sounded more like "Metal". Listen to the lyrics and it become quite clear. I almost feel here's another piece of meat for the metal fans of Tool.
    Hey! Donald Trump is a threat to America. Most other politicians are not. Other politicians listen to reason. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. Trump has to be yelled over and over again to get it through his head. If Biden leads he will delegate duties to good people. Wow, I can't believe you don't see this? Look at the people Trump hired! Criminals and scumbags. Tell me about all the good people Trump has hired. Now tell me about all the people Trump has fired. Damn, dude you are missing a lot. No President is perfect, but dude! Wake up. Trump is a dolt. Do you listen to him? You make fun of Biden, which is fair, but Trump is so much worse. YOU DON'T GET IT. Trump is responsible for people dying in the US. His actions were inappropriate and has caused delays.
    Yeah, blame the DNC for doing something and completely ignore all the crap GOP Reps and Senators have done in the past 3 years. Right.
    I'm going to have to stop listening to you guys. Anyone promoting Trump is something I cannot support and you just did that. JUST AMAZING ALL THE SHIT DONALD TRUMP HAS DONE HIS ENTIRE LIFE and pick on a couple things done by Democrats!
    You're a religious guy and you support Donald Trump? You is fucking twisted? WOW
    TRUMP LIES EVERY DAY DUDE!! OVER AND OVER AGAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING! LOL
    Yeah, no problem with Trump. Hoax? Open Easter? Every fucking day he makes this country more dangerous! Get on the side of right! Or maybe you're a Bernie Bro sore loser.
    Sometimes people do things to trick people. They think your racist and then you release black people from jail. That doesn't make you any less racist. It's just something to trick people Captain Obvious! He listens to Stephen Miller a lot who is totally racist, but knows how to pull the wool over people like yours eyes. LOL Pres, they all think your racist, but there's any easy way to trick them. Yeah but I don't want to release black people from jail. But if you release them they won't think you're racist! Ohhhhhh. Good idea Stephen!
    He kept us out of war with Iran? Really? Who started the problem??? drop mic
    I thought you were a smart guy. lol

      I think time to quit beating that dead horse. Not their taste, at least not anymore, so can't force it. A bit surprising to me from her - the Sori from the beginning of channel I think would've listened with eyes closed and gotten it / enjoyed it much more, but she doesn't seem to listen to music in the same way now (probably due too much bad metal)
