I'm not sure everyone realizes how unbelievably difficult this is to play. All four limbs a moving independently of one another and all keeping perfect time with each other. This guy absolutely crushed this...Danny himself would be proud. Fantastic job dude.
I agree. I think this is one of the most complex bits that Danny has ever come up with. I put on Triad and crank up the few minutes just to hear how all four beats slowly merge together. It's unreal.

Honestly thought this was one of Danny's more laid-back songs until I started looking into the actual live recordings and covers. The guy is insane. Great cover too.
Thank you very much! Your kind words are appreciated. This song was incredibly demanding for me in terms of developing the right feel for playing it, memorizing it, and being relatively comfortable executing the poly-rhythms throughout the entire piece. Again, thank you!
I'm pretty sure most people don't know what they have witnessed here, this is a flawless execution of a mind blowingly difficult piece. Hats of motherfuckers, that dude desereves some groupies!
Janissary What’s your problem? Y’know, I’m sick of people considering the members of Tool “gods”. It’s absolutely ridiculous and they are in no way notably fantastic. I guarantee many modern drummers can do the exact same thing with ease, they just choose not to because it does not fit their musical style. Hell, I’ve been playing drums for a little over a year and I can play almost all Tool with just a little bit of practice time.
Janissary And why is that? Because I don't choose to worship a band because they make unique music? Because they intentially change the time signatures in order to make the band seem out of the ordinary? You don't get famous from being good, you get famous from being iconic.
Yeah buddy, you could play all Tool songs with a little bit of practice time.. Good for you champ! But if you actually practiced and listened to how it goes, you would know that you were as far off as you could be. I'm not talking Tool here, but you being full of it! You have no idea clearly what music theory for drums is, and you think that you can play things, because you think the shit you play sound right. Which it doesn't, which you would learn if you practiced, which you clearly don't, 'cause if you already think you're good after 1 year, you're never getting anywhere!
Because there's much else to play technique wise, oh idiotic one.. Look up Joe Morello and tell me when Danny and Joe style of playing is similar enough to make you think you can play all of Morellos songs, not with the skills of Mr. Carey, but only from playing Triad? There you go, you've just been educated, I think you ought to.
You see, I'm one of those guys (annoying ones) that actually knows what I'm talking about, because I don't open my mouth (unlike 99.99% of humanity) before I actually have learned something about what I'm uttering. I've been playing drums and bass for years, I've went to two music schools and I've just taken a course on composing music according to the common practice period. I'm sick of people talking out their ass, because they know a little bit or worse yet, play music and know nothing about it!
Nuhuhuhuhu i agree with you, i just thought you sounded like an arrogant snob. But atleast you know your shit, more than i can say for most. and in terms of drumming would have to say my favorite is Danny Carey simply because he can create my favorite Beats. while there are better drummers I appreciate what he creates more.

This is one of the most impressive things on TH-cam. If you disagree, it means that you are wrong. I come back to watch this a lot. Absolutely beautiful.
just one question, how do you play the sequence from 5:04 to 5:30, is ok on my right hand, and double bass drum but the triplet from the left hand specialy on the accent on the ride's bell is kinda hard to ensamble with the right hand and double bass, how did you develop the complete sequence?
I separated each limb and isolated the patterns before brining them together. Right hand, then Left hand, then Right foot, then Left foot. I'm sure there is a better way, but for me this is what was most efficient. It simply took practice; there was no "easy" way to do it. Hope that is helpful advice!

in reality it seems relaxed but he s not. the tension is pretty visible, u should recognize that.
he fears danny's deamon HateKillDestroy87. He might come out anytime and kill him for being summoned without danny's permission
The amount of detail in your analysis of this was awesome. I watched the tutorial and saw the time and effort you put into it before I watched this video, so I have mad respect.
Best cover of Danny - EVER!
I know this was a long time ago just stumbled across it. Nailed it. Such a tech song to play. Bravo my man bravo!!!
Well, Danny doesn´t need presentations. Probably to me the best drummer in the world with John Bonham, its the style of performence i appreciate. Just want to give my sincere appreciation to this cover, because sometimes it´s even more difficult when you play musics that you have never created, to the genuine creator its his style. Man congratulations, sometimes i must say, people are awesome, you are awesome dude.
contrabisca bisca That's awesome man, thanks a lot! I sincerely appreciate your kind words. Learning Danny's approach to this song was a rather involved process. I will always be in awe of his creative abilities.
Excellent dude! That is a solid cover. Unreal...
How the fuck does this have less than 3k likes? This is the most spectacular cover I have ever seen of this song and quite possibly the best cover period.
Awesome double bass and coordination.
Fabulous talent!
