I'm 63 and grew up in the 70's with the best music and then along came Tool and A Perfect Circle and I was reborn. Love them. Been to about 40 of their concerts.
Probably one of the longest songs to win a Grammy. The fact that enough people have the attention span for more than a 3 minute pop song tickles me in a way
I'm a 59-year-old dude. When I first sat down and listened to this in early Sept 2019 I knew about 4 minutes in that this would be special. At about 7 minutes in a strange thing happened: A tear came to my eye and I started blubbering like an eight-year-old, no screaming or anything... At 10 minutes it finally dawned on me what was happening! I thought of a Beatles fan carefully placing the brand new White Album on the turntable in the late 60's, or when I heard the first minute of Zepp's "Achilles Last Stand" in 1976. Whatever reason we are drawn to Metal or any type of music, my emotions were asking me "Is this it?", "Will this be the highest moment of my music listening life?", "Will there be ever be better than this?" "Is it impossible to get better than this?". I don't believe as humans we are ever prepared to not wish for more.
I've always said I was born 20 years too late, I wish I had enjoyed (or endured as it wasn't always pretty) the 60's and 70's music "live" instead of in retrospect.

I believe it 💯. I can tell there’s so many sections of the material where they’re are just jamming/improvising. After being in group for decades you get together and no one talks to each other. someone will start a guitar lick a drum beat what have you and everyone joins in. They’ve developed such a binding chemistry they can all get in a room and start jamming without a word being said. You can tell they just hit record start jamming and the outcome eventually molds its way into another masterpiece. I’ve been in a few bands where the chemistry was so on point that’s exactly what we’d do and before we knew we had a bunch of promising material without a word said
This is why tool will always be bittersweet for me and music listening in general because any one of their songs is better than most bands entire album and has been since they emerged. Nothing will ever compare nor even get close.

True Artists...I hope Tool never stops making music...i don't care how long they take to do it right...their music will stand the test of time and always be revered.
Well said. I've had all their albums on constant rotation since August 30th. Fan since 1993 and I'm still in awe. Saw them live in November 3 months ago. Going to see them again next month. I cannot get over how incredibly talented each member of Tool is. Wow is all I can say.
This entire album is a masterpiece!! Tool is on another level of music perfection! No words can describe Tool. They are a whole genre of music in themselves. No other metal/rock/progressive/acid rock band can compete with the genius of Maynard James Keenan ,Adam Jones, Danny Carey, and Justin Chancellor. 15 years was well worth the wait. Eargasmic perfection.
This song is not a song, it’s an experience. Every time I listen to it I completely zone out. It makes me want to listen, scream, jump, sleep, cry. Masterpiece.
Justin chancellor. Is so underrated always has been. For my he is the heart beat of every tool song. He lays down the tone of the song and everyone else builds on it.
josee trahan That’s what I meant when I mention the back beat. Justin and Danny together is 🔥 Not only one of the greatest bass tones ever but one of the best writers ever
I've not stopped listening to this album since it's release. I listen to it daily and I always find new stuff I'm hearing. This whole album is just killer, this track is just beyond words, you're right in saying it will take months to properly listen to it and it just keeps getting better. Danny and Justin's back rythems just utterly compliment Adams 7 minute solo. I love how Maynard just steps out when needed but comes on perfectly. It's a great time to be alive to witness a band like Tool, never again will there be a band that sounds like them.
Somehow watching people react to tool is almost as if we have the same reactions, which makes me feel like we are all just listening to it for the first time AGAIN
Indeed. Its f'n beautiful. When you see Tool live it's pretty evident the affect their music has on people. It's a beautiful sight to behold. F'n EPIC.
A fellow tool fan here, looking at your reactions, I had tears in my eyes. I still remember, the first time I heard this song I was so overwhelmed and was crying like a child who just discovered his lost toy. I had no one besides me to share that experience, but I loved your both reactions. They are priceless! Spiral Out, Keep going!
A *wonderful* reaction to this song! Look, I am 59 yrs old and I have seen a lot of bands since 1976. This is one of the *greatest* rock songs I have *ever* heard. Yes Dylan (and lovely bride), this *is* greatness. [I *will* be going to see them again in St. Louis on June 13 - saw them in Louisville on May 8th, 2019]. One of the best bands ever. Rock on!
Heard 7empest for the first time while watching this reaction video. I was going crazy like this guy because the song is long and progressively gets better - MINDBLOWING!!!!!
I will never forget the experience of hearing this song for the first time, and even after hearing it another 200+ times I can relive it again through you guys. I’ve watched this video at least 3 or 4 already and will relisten again many more times. Love your reactions and your receptiveness to Tool’s music. Thanks guys!
I am 72 years young and grew up listening to some of the best rock & roll bands ever ! From southern rock to hard rock ... I was hooked ! I have to say that Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were my favorites ! But the first time I listened to Tool , I can honestly say that I felt like I was experiencing an out of body journey !! God Bless you guys and your amazing music.... Rock on my brothers 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 love ya !!
This is my favorite reaction video of all time. So good to watch a true Tool fan react to 7empest for the first time. MAAAAN I wish I could hear it again for the first time...
Had the privilege to witness the live debut of this song on February 18th in Sydney. It was fucking amazing. The whole show was. Great reaction video as usual 🤘
Did they play the whole track? And did Maynard do vocals? I only saw a brief clip of it and Maynard didn’t have vocals going where he normally did where he repeats “The Tempest must be just that”, I’d appreciate some intel from a source on the ground 😁✌️
CYBER DEMON yeah they did, the whole 15 minutes with vocals. Being the first time they played it live was pretty awesome to find out later. They nailed it of course
Cyber check the drive project there's a recording of the Auckland gig and they play 7empest 3rd that's right 3rd and it's levels ahead of their live debut in Sydney.
Tim Farrow well we’d assume that playing it for the third time it’d be a better performance. Either way it was awesome and so was the whole performance, we were lucky to even be there. Being from QLD we wanted to go to Brisbane show but all tickets were sold out basically in an instant. Thankfully Tool announced a couple extra gigs down south and we jumped on the opportunity.
How wild is this , watching you guys vibe to it and lose your shit at 11minutes 40 made me feel like I was listening for the first time again . . Goosebumps. Can't wait to see them live again. Aint Nothing Like TOOL!
This quite literally the best reaction video on the entire internet. I've watched this one video more than a hundred times and enjoy each & every time like it was the first time.
“This backbeat is fuckin naaasty” Right on brother! When I first heard this song and that part specifically, I was so blown away and perplexed. I had to go back and listen to that part again and again and again until I could make sense of it. It’s outstanding.
Love a Tool reaction video - looks like you both enjoyed that!!!! Sends shivers doesnt it. Just seen them a month ago in Manchester on the tour. Phenomenal!! Show was amazing. Sound, Lights, Ambience - just what you expect from the guys but with a maturity surpassing 1000 days tour. Get better every time
You're loss for words was a perfect reaction. The song does speak for itself. A masterpiece of Artistic Greatness that will stand the test of time. Tool's Grammy was well deserved. The whole album in my opinion is worth a Million Grammy's. Hard work and dedication at it's finest. 13 yrs was well worth the wait for such an Amazing album.
White Butterfly_46n2 Exactly, no words are needed and good luck even trying to put this insane musical masterpieces into words in the 1st place. Just close your eyes sit back and enjoy the ride. And they didn’t just win a Grammy they won the Grammys in it’s entirety With this one

Your Tool reactions always bring a big smile to my face man. You really feel it, plus you’ve introduced your wife to them, and probably others who’ll watch this, which is what it’s all about! 🤘🏼 From an old school Toolhead, awesome stuff. 👍🏼
Adam's solo at 11:32 is one of my favorite tool solos of all time, it it matches the energy too perfectly and makes your ears feel like they're being ripped off your head in the best way possible
I think it's safe to say this is my favorite reaction ever. I come back to it once in a while. Must have something to do with the fact 7empest is one of my favorite songs ever.
Dylan=🤯. Agree Dylan, that groove is one of the best to ever be recorded. Danny's runs are as tight as ever. Justin is just crushing it. Maynard's vocals are spot on and Adam is just painting a mural with his guitar. ✌
Ahmad K 💯 FU*KING PERCENT! I’ve been listening to this track nonstop since because the greatest comes in waves at you at all angles. Endgame for sure or as I call it, GAME OVER
Don't know if you remember me saying it was pretty obvious why they left this for the last track on the album. Not only would it be hard to follow this up with one of the other songs, but some of Adam's riffs in 7empest were from before the Aenima album. They hadn't found a place to use them until now and this is an incredible blend of their early sound mixed with the more recent stuff. It would set an unrealistic expectation for what the rest of the album would be if they led off with this track. Thanks for sharing your experience through this album with us! It has been a lot of fun seeing the passion for music that both of you have. Hope you go back and do some more of their previous music that you haven't heard yet.
I've felt like Invincible tells the story of this stage of their career, and 7empest is the encore. If they don't release anything else, this was a great note to end on.
@@kylestyyle987 Since their first album , there has been one song on every fkn one of them that is a lead in to the next...a song that sounds different from the rest....Tempest takes you back to the first album without question...but it does so with the feel but no with the complexity. Its like a trip down memory lane on steroids. I hope someone else out there gets what i am saying....every single album had ONE song that was a glimpse of what was coming next...this one is a reverse. SO glad that Dylan and Erica did this album together...super cool people and a great couple. Love you guys! Spiral out.....
I came across Tool via the side project A Perfect Circle and they have blown me away, outstanding and astounding. Have been into what I call thinking man’s progressive music and Tool ticks the box! I’m 71 and have seen/heard the development of innovative music from its beginnings in the 60’s and this is pinnacle stuff man! ❤️❤️❤️
Best song I've ever heard, True gods of the art that noone can top! Best all time at what they do. This is honestly all their sounds over the year's combined into one masterpiece of perfection. I'm just honored to have lived to hear this.
The composition is a masterpiece. From beginning to end, it is linked in each of its nuances in order to leave us ecstatic. When I heard it, I went crazy.
You're title in your video is so on point...…..This Is Greatness! I have listened to this album non-stop since its debut. While listening to this album I was instantly brought back to 1992 when I first heard the Sober album. I have had such profound experiences with Tool much like all who appreciate Tool for what they create. They are absolutely the greatest musicians that have ever graced our existences. Love your reactions...…..it is exactly what all Tool fans experience in the journey through sound they take us all on.
I'm still in awe. The albums been out for 6 months now, I've seen them live, going to see them again in April, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around this masterpiece. I'm going to have to pick Adam Jones' brain when I meet him in April 🤗🤗
@@rubaidaallen2764 From what I read, Adam said it took him 13 years to write the song. He had some of the riffs and song pieces maybe even before Undertow, but he didn't know how to play it. He went around since 10,000 days to other guitarists to learn more technique so he could actually play the song as he intended
Yeah those high notes seriously tickle my nuts and send shivers through my body haha. First time I listened to this, I was stoned as fuck, sitting in pitch black with my eyes closed. At this part I literally paused the song and took my headphones off because it was getting too intense. My heart was racing, my breathing was slowed, It did something to me. I went downstairs and grabbed a drink and chilled out for a few minutes before going back to finish the song. Never have I ever stopped a song because it was too intense.

Ahhh I loved this reaction video Dylan. Came back 2 years after my last comment here. 6 months or so after that comment I made I lost my wife to suicide. Loved watching this seeing how your wife totally digs the tune & reacts. Last concert we went to was Tool. My wife wasn't much a fan but still went because I wanted to go BADLY. This is easily one of the finest songs ever written by anyone, ever. I'm in my early to mid 40"s and I've been listening to this band for over twenty years and they have raised the bar higher than anyone to come before.
It’s incredible how they’re ALL 10/10 on musicianship(whereas most bands would kill to have one 10/10) and can full on Ham any moment but they rarely do, they all just do their part so beautifully to be a part of the whole which puts them above a 10/10. Even Maynard adds the lyrics last and keeps the volume low as to once again blend as another instrument and not take over being the vocal point. Danny comes the closest to being a Ham and well he’s otherworldly, so what can you say? Well I say 13 years it was worth the wait. Every minute of it and if this is your last album this is a great masterpiece to end your timeless discography. Thanks for all the impact on playing a large part of the soundtrack of my life. You’ve helped me from some dark places and motivated me more than I can encapsulate in words! Great reaction guys, I love the passion!

Dennis Ferguson Same thing.
I love your TOOL reaction videos because you’re literally reacting in real-time not overthinking overanalyzing not separating the body from the mind and God forbid stopping masterpieces and killing your groove
Just like Pink Floyd, Tool cannot be compared to any sound the world has ever known. I feel privileged to be gifted with this sound.
Adam: feeling kinda cute. I’ll get us a Grammy boys. Hold on
Ikr 😂😂😂😂😂
True Artists...I hope Tool never stops making music...i don't care how long they take to do it right...their music will stand the test of time and always be revered.
Well said. I've had all their albums on constant rotation since August 30th. Fan since 1993 and I'm still in awe. Saw them live in November 3 months ago. Going to see them again next month. I cannot get over how incredibly talented each member of Tool is. Wow is all I can say.
And now they play 7empest live
Adam in an interview said this is his masterpiece....I agree
I humbly think this is Tool's stairway to heaven.
This is waaaaaay better than Stairway to Heaven … that song is overrated and I got sick of hearing it in the 70s in high school.
Exactly!
Just don't compare, Tool are somewhat different from others...
His attack of the bass can't be duplicated. He is a true artist. He is the driving force of every song. He's just not flashy. That's beneath him.
josee trahan , that man can drive a song!!!!
Totally agree. He really mastered their signature sound.
@@gazerbeam642 . Man can he drive. The man is a genius. Love every back beat that man lays down.
Lone Wolf, I couldn’t have said it any better.
Indeed. Well said sir. Its absolutely beautiful.
Several times daily. Thank goodness its digital or I would have had to buy a dozen vinyls or tapes by now
Lone Wolf 1714 you said it all brother.
My first listen, I wasn't impressed. I expected alot after 13 years. But after the 2nd and 3rd time, I think it's their masterpiece.
11:37 when that note howls, stands every hair on my neck up...Adam Jones cemented himself as a guitar god with this one
Three of the greatest musicians paired with one of the greatest vocalist song writers equals GOAT TOOL!✌
richard W 💯 vocals kicked my ass in the best way
vocalists are musicians too 😭
Phenomenal
Somehow watching people react to tool is almost as if we have the same reactions, which makes me feel like we are all just listening to it for the first time AGAIN
The minute I saw this I put on my tool shirt and went on this trip with you guys. Amazing how music can put people together
Indeed. Its f'n beautiful. When you see Tool live it's pretty evident the affect their music has on people. It's a beautiful sight to behold. F'n EPIC.
Love it man thanks for stopping by to share this ISANE ride with us. Music is the most powerful forms of art.
One of the greatest songs to ever exist, for sure.
@@wordsbymudeet couldn't agree more.
Rock on!
Adam- Tempest
Danny- Pneuma
Descending/Invincible- Justin
Schism/The Pot/10,000 Days- Maynard
Each member has their instrument masterpiece
now this is a true statement.
Imo I think Rosetta Stoned is way more Danny’s magnum opus than Pnemua is. Both fantastic though dont get me wrong
The grudge is def Maynard's song
@@swianr
….and the end for Danny!😂
Now, yee forgot .....Lateralus. Lateralus is best song because........ all of them are phennnnooooominalllll. ALLLLL ATTTTTT ONNNCCCCCEEEEEE.
When a song is that long and it ends and you want more.. how awesome is this this band!!
Well said ! I'm starting it over again ...!
Heard 7empest for the first time while watching this reaction video. I was going crazy like this guy because the song is long and progressively gets better - MINDBLOWING!!!!!
What a great time it is to be alive and able to witness such a talented group. Thanks for the eargasm.
Kent Deusinger what a great time indeed 😬
Erica Caldwell
Lol yep !!
No band in the last 30 years can touch these guys.
I will never forget the experience of hearing this song for the first time, and even after hearing it another 200+ times I can relive it again through you guys. I’ve watched this video at least 3 or 4 already and will relisten again many more times. Love your reactions and your receptiveness to Tool’s music. Thanks guys!
Being that this won a Grammy is one of the greatest accomplishments ever in Grammy history
FINALLY!!!! I expected this reaction with all my soul!!!!
BEST REACTION EVER!!!!!!
Thank you 🙏 it was an amazing experience listening to it and sharing it with you all 😊
You guys are awesome… You’re energy is intoxicating! Plus one on subscribers.
Hell yeah!!!
This is my favorite reaction video of all time. So good to watch a true Tool fan react to 7empest for the first time. MAAAAN I wish I could hear it again for the first time...
Producers: How many solos do you like?
Adam Jones : YES!
🤣💯
@@lambofbodom5610 maynard was a lil off in his timing and cues but its still an amazing performance
I like how yall closed your eyes when listening to this. This is the only way I listen to TOOL cause it just takes you on a ride
“This backbeat is fuckin naaasty”
Right on brother! When I first heard this song and that part specifically, I was so blown away and perplexed. I had to go back and listen to that part again and again and again until I could make sense of it. It’s outstanding.
I couldn’t click any faster....
same stopped everything for this.
Get better every time
Death T too - miss Chuck. Pioneer of that scene.
Been fun watching y'all partake in this Fear Inoculum journey. Such a great album.
Nothing short of brilliance!! Maynard and team continue to push the layers of intensity and musical geniuses!! Rock on Tool!! 🤘🏼
This song is like one giant victory lap, and I could listen to it endlessly. Loved your guys' reaction!
"There's so much to be said, but nothing needs to be said." This woman understands.
@@dmusiclife5727 So True! I have both release's of the album that were gifted to me. I couldn't afford tickets. I never got the chance to have that Tool concert experience. I wanted to so bad though. And have cried many times. Maybe in another life. Until then I listen just about every day. And enjoy every minute. Full blast.😊
Seeing them twice this fall. Goosebumps!!
Your Tool reactions always bring a big smile to my face man. You really feel it, plus you’ve introduced your wife to them, and probably others who’ll watch this, which is what it’s all about! 🤘🏼 From an old school Toolhead, awesome stuff. 👍🏼
this is how i expect everyone to react to tool. love their reactions
Couldn’t have said it any better
Well said it!!!!
I just executed my everyday’s morning routine: drank my coffee and watched this again
Have a good one ☕️
this was definitely the Avengers: Endgame version of all the T00L reactions. Not sure if that reference will resonate with most of the viewers.
Ahmad K 💯 FU*KING PERCENT! I’ve been listening to this track nonstop since because the greatest comes in waves at you at all angles. Endgame for sure or as I call it,
GAME OVER
Dude this superhero avengers shit whatever it's called is mainstream. That's gonna resonate with more people than you think.
"get the reference" lol avengers is like one of the most popular entertainment franchises of all time
As a huge comic book fan, especially of marvel, dc, image etc, I can tell you, you’re on point. It really is the avengers end game of all Tool songs.
It does!
Im so glad you guys love this. This band is that far ahead of everything else out there. And their live show is simply amazing
That nasty guitar riff after the intro definitely has an Aenima sound

If I’m ever in a coma , please put some headphones on me and blast Tool. I’ll either wake up jamming or die happy.
Their reaction at 11:33-11:50 for Adam's solo was also my reaction when I first heard it
I'm still in awe.

I'm not surprised at all. He's so dedicated to his craft and so f'n disciplined as a musician. I'm in awe of him as a musician and visual artist. Everything he does is so f'n beautiful, perfect and mindblowing. He's one of my favorite people and guitarists for sure.
great reaction. I hope you get to see them live. 4x for me and again this Jan in Madison square Garden.
A 7empest must be true to his Nature.👽🌟👁
Ahhh I loved this reaction video Dylan. Came back 2 years after my last comment here. 6 months or so after that comment I made I lost my wife to suicide. Loved watching this seeing how your wife totally digs the tune & reacts. Last concert we went to was Tool. My wife wasn't much a fan but still went because I wanted to go BADLY. Glad to see your channel is still rocking out dude!!

Adam Jones is such an incredible musician.
Tool could quite possibly be the greatest band of our era.
Unique guitar player + full of feeling for the writing of his melodies
A modern day music classic. A different level of musicality, heavy, a journey of the soul. Tool how do you do it???
This 14-minute song is a career for most bands. Mind-numbingly epic.
This is easily one of the finest songs ever written by anyone, ever.
I'm in my early to mid 40"s and I've been listening to this band for over twenty years and they have raised the bar higher than anyone to come before.

Perfect!!! Love you guys!! "Nothing sounds like Tool" "there's never gonna be another band like Tool"" worth the wait!!!
Been a Tool fan since their inception. This was worth the wait. The first time I heard this song I was like....legend.
The last song on the Tool album we waited so long for. They had to blow us out of the water.
Lol, I startled my buddy with an excited yelp then made all activity around me stop. Made my day guys..thanks!!!
Sunshine Osborne I can only imagine 😆
Yalls enthusiasm for music and especially tool is pretty infectious. It’s a fun watch for sure
