Basically, I want to make a vertical slice of every feature through that point (so I will be adding in will skills, but only lighting and one other spell for example) :)

PG Games is a top 3 studios for me to work at. Forza Horizon 5 is my main live service game I play, unfortunately they are not based in the US and don't hire internationally. I wouldn't mind working at Turn 10 though, who make Forza Motorsport and are supporting on Fable right now it seems. They are based in Washington
so wonderful to see my child hood game get the love of a proper remake, only wish we would be able to play the game when its finished, keep it up brother
Hey, I’m the guy remaking Fable Anniversary on UE3 still, I’m still working on it from time to time, but I recently started experimenting with UE5 and I had this idea of remaking Project Ego, with big open spaces and seamless region transitions. A big project for me alone but I’m more focused on getting the Hero play like in Fable 2 and give it more details to fit in modern assets.
I have gone back and forth on if I will eventually release an exe of the build, so we will see. I know 100% for a fact that Microsoft executives know about the project, but I haven't gotten in any trouble by them yet lol
Hope the project is going well, Watching these gave me the I needed to restart my fable style game. I was wondering if you are handling all movement in the game through code or if there is some root motion in animation?
Every animation (minus a few exceptions) are all in a static position, so I am actually handling the movement myself with a few situations of using blend animations as well. That is the system that converts a walk animation into a run animation smoothly.
I'm curious to know what will happen if this gains traction? I assume this'll just remain a project and not an un(official) remaster. Though all things considered I would love to see a remaster in Unreal Engine, that being said; have you had any legal team come after you, simply for remaking a game? I thought about this and as long as you don't try and market it as your own you should be golden. Just food for thought, love the progress tho keep up the great work! Side question: what inspired you to work on this project and what has kept you motivated in doing so?
I have not had anyone at MS reach out to me about the project, however, I know 100% for a fact that Microsoft knows about this project. I have had several higher ups at MS follow me and the project on LinkedIn, and even have the co-founder of Big Blue Box Studios follow me directly. I assume I am good to make the project. I might even be ok to release a build for free, but not totally sure about that yet. As far as what inspired me to work on this project, I am a professional game developer, however, I needed more experience in unreal to add to my portfolio. I watched the TH-camr Reubs remake Simpsons Hit & Run in UE5, and realized that a remake is probably the best way to learn the engine. I picked a game where I would have the ability to reuse the assets, but could still need a remake (either due to visuals or poorly aged gameplay moments)
@Level reDesign Hmm yeah I'd be careful, you don't want to be hit with a lawsuit that you can't get out of and i would hate to see your project get demolished because of corporate 'murica. That's interesting they know of the project but haven't reached out to you. Well I hope nothing bad comes from the silence lol I look forward to hopefully one day playing this project, even if you only do a portion of the game, I'd still would just love to see it run on another engine and better visually. Have you ever thought about tackling any of the other Fables? I would love to see a remaster of the Sanctuary, but able to see and walk thru each of the rooms as opposed to loading into each. Maybe the outside of fairfax Gardens/inside the castle.
I actually have my next remaster planned, which is a licensed platformer from before 2000, so while I believe that Fable 2 would be a great candidate for a remaster, I will not be taking that on personally. Then after the next remaster I have on deck is done good enough, I will be moving on to full game of my own.

MS isn't willing to do this for the fans, they should have the decency to allow people like yourself to do as much as you want, and release a free built if you damn so well please. Better yet - they should hire you to do their job for them, since they clearly don't have the desire. Please make spells better, "more summons/the ability to choose the summon" also the ability to purchase every house in game without having to kill villagers and allow weapons and spells in bowerstone and infinite bet amounts at pub games or increase the max to at least 10k hope to see more armor and weapons as well also please allow the ability to reduce as many years as you want at the chapel of avo maybe add aging at the chapel of skorm also if possible the ability to obtain the sword of aeons and the avo tear maybe add dual weapons you could possibly use twinblade fighting style for that if at all possible also the ability to re enter the arena whenever again if possible nostro armor would be cool to obtain as well and a golden chicken suit and more expressions again if possible I would love to see twin blade roaming his camp and maze walking around the guild as well as well as seeing thunder hanging around the arena and whisper randomly walking through places like oakvale or something oh and the ability to obtain Jack of blades & thunder outfits after fighting them and last but not least seeing the chief of knothole Glade walking around knothole more often and better rain and storm effects
you think just like me ❤ Id also would want to if im like evil the bandits should be my homies especially after killing twinblades like some sort of Bandit King title and now i can use them to do Raid events at the town, and during these Raids we can scour for gold and Items and Kill Guards etc. But since this dude is a 1 man army it's definitely like a lot on his plate already but still id love to see more!
Some of this is definitely possible, and I do have some plans for some updates, however, remember that as a solo dev, some of these things can take as much as 10k hours of work alone (especially if it requires any animation updates like duel wielding).

I actually would love to, but I said this as a safety net while I try to check with MS on if I can release it to the public. I don't want to risk burning bridges or making potential future employers mad at me. So, it is still possible. I just don't want to get people's hopes up just to possibly disappoint them later.
While I focus on the technical and programming side of development, there is a creator called Gaming Ridge who is focusing on the art side of Fable. You should check it out. He is making Albion actually breathtaking and gorgeous lol

The goal of this project is for me to learn how to do this stuff on my own, so the only AI I am interested in using is using AI to upscale textures.
