Bj Penn still highlights how crazy the wear and tear is on a person. From being considered arguably the biggest prodigy in ufc history to being knocked out by some guy at a bar
I would have included Nick Diaz vs Frank Shamrock, partly because it addressed the question of how the younger fighter feels about beating up a past their prime legend. Nick wanted the fight to be stopped as soon as possible as opposed to just doing pointless damage.

@@carphucker2973 Whenever Yair is talked about now, TILL DIS DAY some peeps are always bringing up the Frankie loss. Yair is an elite and fun fighter but he's not hugely well-liked, for a loud minority bringing up the Frankie fight is their way of expressing their dissatisfaction with him.
We need top 10 fighters who struggle in their home turf. Like Lewis, Weidman and other fighters who lose in their home state, city or country

Or just an episode on weird geographical anomalies. If you dig enough you'll surely find some fighters who only win in certain states/continents/countries or in certain time zones, etc. I bet there's some whacky crap out there. Or fight time anomalies, etc.

Izzy vs Anderson is one of the best fights i've ever seen, of course not on actual straight up quality, but just in how kinda cozy it is, it seemed like both were just sparring and having fun, one of the few "passing of the torch" that is ACTUALLY a passing of the torch and not a beatdown
It honestly did feel like a PASSING of the torch, as opposed to prying it out of the old legends broken dead hands😂
For sure, it’s just two really skilled technical fighters trying to show off and touch each other, as opposed to beating the life out of the old man lmao

Also, the fight vs Dillashaw to reclaim the belt was pretty epic. It was a banger. Two highly skilled fighters in their prime, putting on a clinic. It won fight of the night, had some great striking exchanges throughout the entire bout, and had Cruz just edging TJ on the scorecards. Career-wise, that’s gotta be his best moment, especially with him returning from injuries to win it back. It’s arguably one of the best bantamweight title fights ever, and helped contribute to growing the sport to what it is today. Sure, it would’ve been awesome to see Cruz live up to his Dominator nickname during the years plagued by injury, but that fight encapsulated the “maybe what could’ve been…”, part of his legacy, all boiled down into that one fight. I guess it’s the next best thing, to seeing a Cruz title run.

@@rickybobby38 Coleman was coming off a victory over Stephan Bonnar, he was pretty beat up by that point, years of doing steroids. In an interview he said he knew that the fight with Brock was a way to get Brock over. However, that’s what was supposed to happen to Stephan. The fight before Stephan, was Coleman’s rematch with Shogun - Coleman was given to Shogun in Pride to have Shogun get a victory over a world champ - Coleman won. In their second fight Coleman lost with less than a minute in the third round. He kept shocking everyone by winning, he wanted Lesnar to prove he could still beat the younger guys.

Beating up on past their prime legends actually does a lot for a young fighter’s career, because it brings them much broader exposure than they had so far reached, and adding a former world champion to the win column on their resume builds their recognition, their public perception and their accumulated reputation and respect received for the champions and top contenders they triumphed against.

if you do this for vets getting fed to the young, you've also gotta counter with the times that up and coming stars got rinsed by vets.

Can we choose to believe Khamzat purposely missed weight so he didn't have to be the guy that ended Nate's UFC career in a mob-style contract killing ... It was infinitely more satisfying to see him shut down Mr Mouth Holland in a quick fashion and then having Nate go at it with Tony in a fight that would basically consequence-free for both guys (and them both getting some much deserved spotlight & $$$ too)

Yeah he definitely got the raw end of the deal here with the fight reshuffle and then with what the "judges" did to his fight on the night with Mr Rodrigues (you'd almost swear they found Rogan's stash of edibles & scarfed down the entire baggie), I don't think D-Rod was overly impressed either (yeah he'll take the W gladly, but he seems like someone who wants to do it fair & square) & seems like he's open to rematching Leech at a later time.

Stipe did get a rematch against DC though without having to fight another contender, he simply waited while DC snuck in a title defence. I think its fair to say Woodley didn't deserve an immediate rematch considering he got dominated in what should have been a 50-42 decision loss, whilst showing no sense of urgency.
@@tiagopacheco4654 Stipe only had 1 defence on his 2nd title reign (he played his automatic rematch card against DC), plus he got destroyed by Francis in a shutout KO loss. Considering those facts and his less then positive relationship with the UFC, he was never going to get an immediate rematch.

Sometimes my pro-worker heart worries when folk get cut after a loss but then my head has to remember that this list is usually what happens to those who don't get let go.

Although it doesn't fit the formula Figgy vs. Joe Benavidaz was very much in that vain of a horrible mismatch. Granted Joe was the champ guys like: Figgy, CCC, Moreno, DJ, etc. are so much better than everyone else it becomes a mismatch rather easily. As good as Kai Kara France is he got finished by Moreno in devastating fashion and he's much better than Joe is.

@@JuanSanchez-vh6od He's only 28. It's only gonna get more difficult to make 170. Guys add a bit of natural weight around 30 as their metabolism slows down, he already has trouble making 170 and he looks terrible on the scale when he does make weight. He needs to move up and stop fucking around.
