I think you should also include Mcgregor vs Diaz part 1&2. RDA the 155lb champ was supposed to fight Mcgregor the 145lb champion in a Superfight, but Rda pulled out at the last minute. So very riskily Conor accepted a fight on 9 days notice way up 2 full divisions above his 145lb weight class at 170 against 6'1 Diaz. And then he did it again in the rematch when he didn't have to do either fight or agree to 170.
O'Malley is a performer and fighter 💯 he gives us fan's everything we wanted. Yeah a little cocky but he's a professional fighter. He knows he has a slim chance of winning against Yan yet he took the fight to put on a good show . You can only respect that dude
Should've mentioned Fabricio Werdum vs Junior Dos Santos at UFC 90. Werdum was a top Heavyweight on the cusp of a title shot and JDS was a 6-1 unknown fighter making his debut. Nobody knew who the hell JDS was. From what I remember, people didn't even know JDS was a striker until Dana White's vlog (precursor to embedded) showed him hitting the mitts a few days before the fight.
Gotta disagree with #1. Francis was either getting a payday and some respect *OR* out of his contract. He might have lost some steam moving into boxing or a different promotion, but I don't honestly think it was as big a risk as say Tony
Tbh, feel like bisping losing to gastelum was a good thing, if he beat him he would’ve carried on fighting and who knows what his eyes would be like now. Still my favourite fighter regardless and happy his career ended when it did, some guy
I know how cool it is to hate Conor at the moment, but out of this list his was by far the riskiest ,he had been training for Aldo(pure kickboxing match more than likely), everyone at the time was saying how any wrestler would beat him, so with an injured knee he fought the best wrestler in the division on what 11 days notice which could have potentially ruined at the time the biggest fight in UFC history, I don't think anything on this list is close at all
He was much taller than and longer than all of them, so it doesnt matter And he had a training camp and mendes didnt And mendes is not a guy that is always trainig and ready like diaz, so it wasnt really that risky as you make it out to be, conor still had more advantages than mendes cuz he was in his best possible shape, and a lot bigger

@@bryanzermeno8466 He is out on a knee injury. The guy literally defended his belt 4 months after he got the title. The champ before him defended once a year, while he was healthy
Francis' risk taken was huge as hell. He was in a fight he couldn't say no to (he was pretty much forced to fight injured, because if he pulled out with his knee injury, he would have been stripped just like Tony was when he blew his knee), Gane was seen as a nightmare matchup for him (nobody knew he would become Franbib Ngannoumedov mid-fight) and he would have lost all possible bargaining power if he lost the fight (he could still sign with Bellator or PFL, but his golden ticket for a Tyson Fury exhibition for a few millions would be gone for good if he wasn't something besides the undisputed UFC Heavyweight champion, and if by some miracle he did re-sign, also goodbye to a Jon Jones fight) and for daring to go against Dana, he would have been fired to make an example of him. That was even more of an all-or-nothing fight than Tony's. Tony had the option to not fight. Francis didn't.
This is the best way for the UFC to push O’nalley for a title fight. Sean vs TJ, Aljo, Merab, and Vera are terrible matchups for him. Throwing him against a boxer and the No2 ranked Bantamweight like Petr Yan is the best way for the UFC to get Sean a somewhat “deserved” title shot. It’s brilliant if you think about it.
yeah I've been thinking how hugely risky this is for Yan. It's possible (if not likely) that Sean styles on him and knocks him out while he's just starting to feel his way into the fight. Meanwhile if he beats Sean, so what? We expect it, and Sean's very successful brand isn't dependent upon being the best, so it's just like nothing really happened.
I see O’Malley surprisingly whooping Petr for a round or two until Yan finally gets his read and then it’ll be over from there, but O’Malley is 100% talented and works hard I just think that Yan is insanely more disciplined and that’s really what it takes to make it.

Frankie Edgar be Brian Ortega should’ve definitely been on this list
Nice to hear rdr call out more one championship content needed
Sure a ranking risk for Peter but the money is double his last fight, a title fight. who’s the real winner?
2:13 If Bader is trying to look intimidating...he failed. He looks like a fool.
Prime Cro Cop was so fucking scary
Top Ten Inebriated MMA performances! I will carry this request well into 2023 if I have to!
why tony why did you take the fight 😭
Tony's the time of guy to cut weight twice before a fight
Hope everyone is well
4:13 Wanderlei was heavier than Cro Cop in their 2nd fight.
Watching this after Yan definitely made a mistake fighting Sean. What a robbery though. Risking it all is just apart of the game. But that was a HUGGE risk.
The 2006 Pride Grand Prix was an openweight tournament, not heavyweight.
Casuals on Point
Gotta disagree with #1. Francis was either getting a payday and some respect *OR* out of his contract. He might have lost some steam moving into boxing or a different promotion, but I don't honestly think it was as big a risk as say Tony
Tbh, feel like bisping losing to gastelum was a good thing, if he beat him he would’ve carried on fighting and who knows what his eyes would be like now. Still my favourite fighter regardless and happy his career ended when it did, some guy
I know how cool it is to hate Conor at the moment, but out of this list his was by far the riskiest ,he had been training for Aldo(pure kickboxing match more than likely), everyone at the time was saying how any wrestler would beat him, so with an injured knee he fought the best wrestler in the division on what 11 days notice which could have potentially ruined at the time the biggest fight in UFC history, I don't think anything on this list is close at all
He was much taller than and longer than all of them, so it doesnt matter
And he had a training camp and mendes didnt
And mendes is not a guy that is always trainig and ready like diaz, so it wasnt really that risky as you make it out to be, conor still had more advantages than mendes cuz he was in his best possible shape, and a lot bigger
@@backbone93 you obviously weren't following what was going on at the time, you can say all this in hindsight but at the time the betting odds completely changed and it was a huge deal
@@ciaranfox2925 lmao, all you say is "i love conor so much, he is the best and conor =mma for me"
@@backbone93 u got I love Conor from that? I actually dislike Conor for reasons you wouldn't have a clue about, I'm from the same area he grew up in and know storys of him smashing people up on nights out for little to no reason when he was a teenager and up, but then like most Irish people when he got into the UFC I thought he'd changed and was a fan of course but not the last 6 or 7 years I know about some very scummy things he's done so am really not a fan at all, but that doesn't change that what I said is right, and your reply there is so fucking weird you freak haha
Nahh man. Tony risked it more against Justin. All the shit he had to go through to get a title fight. The five times they've pulled out against each other with khabib. Putting his 12 fight win streak on the line. He cut weight twice 😩 fucking Tony man, why did you take the fight 😭😭😭
Shogun was 3-2 with his “win streak” being against an undersized champion and 2 washed up fighters. Pretty sure not a single one of Jones fights were “high risk”
Thats revisionist history right there because at the time everyone considerd Jones schedule as a murderers row and most ppl though Jon was too young and Shogun would end up winning
Exept against chael sonnen
@@fisniktamere when he refused to fight Sonnen and got an event cancelled
@@sECUREij it was a joke bro
Undisputed undefeated chael sonnen meme ?
Honestly, I think O'Malley is biting off way more than he can chew.
Yan fighting Shawn is smart. He knows that Shawn's basically up next for the title shot. Might as well fight for it.
What makes u think Sean is up next for the title over ppl like sandhagen or vera.
Correction - Ciryl won first 2 rounds. Francis won next 3.
Across five rounds means, over the span of five rounds, Francis won more.
Correction Cyril won 3 round
@@bryanzermeno8466 And that's how he is now the champ....oh, wait
@@sonny9493 sucks that the current champ doesn’t even like defending the belt so might as well get one that does
@@bryanzermeno8466 He is out on a knee injury. The guy literally defended his belt 4 months after he got the title. The champ before him defended once a year, while he was healthy
Ben Rosett should fight for the Heavyweight Belt

Thoughts in jon comeback?
Who wins jon or curtis?
He’s not fighting Curtis, it either gonna be stipe or Francis, and he beats both of them, Curtis isn’t even on the list of potential opponents
Jon doesn't return till 2033
Tony took the biggest risk for sure.
My first reaction to Tony was, that shit ended his career as an elite 155...
How is Jones taking the Shogun fight a fight with everything to lose? He had everything to gain. Shogun is the one with everything to lose.
Yan vs o mallet gonna be so hype might as well ban steve
I don't like this move for Petr Yan, but if there's someone I have confidence in to get it done, it's him.
Burns definitely deserves a spot here vs Chimaev
Werdum fighting the then unknown newcomer JDS should be there. Koscheck taking the Paulo Thiago fight also a huge risk
Frankie Edgar fighting T City losing his shot at belt for taking contender opponent when he was supposed to fight the champ Holloway
noti gang !
Silva was actually just moving up and ducking Charles Bennett after getting KO’d backstage. 😅😅😂
what about Chuck Liddell short notice fight against Babalu instead of waiting for title fight
yeah I've been thinking how hugely risky this is for Yan. It's possible (if not likely) that Sean styles on him and knocks him out while he's just starting to feel his way into the fight. Meanwhile if he beats Sean, so what? We expect it, and Sean's very successful brand isn't dependent upon being the best, so it's just like nothing really happened.
Shauns not gonna style on yan cory couldnt even do that
I see O’Malley surprisingly whooping Petr for a round or two until Yan finally gets his read and then it’ll be over from there, but O’Malley is 100% talented and works hard I just think that Yan is insanely more disciplined and that’s really what it takes to make it.
Yea but as u mentioned yan is a late starter and this is only a 3 rounder so it makes it even more risky for yan and all that more interesting of a fight.
@@justinboggs6213 Hello, greetings from Canada 🇨🇦. How are you doing today?
