This would allow for any dehydration woes to be properly taken care of via rehydration and relaxation. They could also choose to implement rules that have already been discussed but not implemented such as not allowing fighters to cut more than 15 lbs from their natural weight. You have to remember that Anthony Johnson used to fight at welterweight but walk around at heavyweight. Yes he had problems making weight on numerous occasions but he had 13 successful fights at welterweight as well.

Aside that, stronger financial repercussions certainly make a difference. And lastly, having a more stringent process to change weight classes, such as an application and approval process being required on an annual basis, would go a long way to avoid athletes thinking they can fight wherever they choose whenever they want to.

It's possible there just wasn't any more water in him to come out. Sure, there technically was but at some point your body is going to start fighting back because that kind of dehydration leads it to believe it's dying,
As I see it, one way to discourage drastic weight cuts--and therefore limit high profile misses--is to taper the weigh-ins leading into the fight. The exact numbers would need to be decided more seriously but having to weigh in at, say, no more than 110% of the limit two weeks out and 115% of the limit three or four weeks out, etc, would limit how much of the weight cut is just last-minute water loss, and if fighters see that they can't maintain a higher walking-around weight between fights as a result, then they either find themselves adjusting to a lighter "normal" so they're cutting less, or look at moving to a more natural class for their day to day weight.
Calling 'pointless' the interim title is a crime imo. Fighters like Tony who earned their way to that stage with their blood, sweat and tears and you dismiss their achievements. You call double champ Conor who had the belt for 2 f@#3in years and did nothing with it holding the dinision hostage while Tony was stripped immediately for an accident and should have sued the UFC for taking it away from him.
I don't understand, please help. Somebody told me years ago that you want to train heavier, cut to make the weigh in, then fight heavy...is that right?
@@hellofrominside8524 ok, I get that being heavier can give an advantage, but how much heavier can they get between weigh in and fight night for that to matter so much? Does training and walking around at a heavier weight give that much of an advantage?

Paddy is undoubtedly on EPO. There is no possible way he gets THAT blown up & suddenly is completely shredded at weigh-ins. It does not physically make sense. He’s 100% on EPO or something akin to it.
The weight classes exist in the first place to ensure some degree of equality between combatants which isn't always the case when you have guys dropping insane amounts of weight. I personally think they should just allow a 1 pound difference. That pound isn't going to determine the outcome of the fight and there is plenty of evidence of that within this video. If a fighter misses weight twice, they should be forced to move up a division but there needs to be more leniency, even if it's only a half-pound. At that point being disqualified or penalized seems beyond insane. The scales still said 155 for Charles.
I believe there should be more divisions it would open the door for some of those fighters that are not really supposed to be in that weight but they have no other option.
i love mma on point, watching their vids for the last 2 years regularly and ye i'm dumb af, but dam, this is soo hard to follow, dunno.. it's all over the place it seems.. at least we dont get to see close-ups of jason's face every 10 secs like in some other of his mma on point vids :P
It would be interesting if UFC kept track of a fighter's walk around weight out of competition and used that to dictate their division. Instead of having guys like romero cut 30+ lbs, take their normal healthy weight and give them 10-20 lb limits
Everyone’s walk around weight different. For example paddy pimblett. He’s a monster in the weight room he fought at 155 in London , ,he just told everyone recently after the fight we weighed in at 202 pounds.. which would put him in light heavyweight . That’s just one example there’s probably more
For Brazilians, this is nothing more than the Argentinean way. A Brazilian team plays there, and the supporters will be banging on the hotel the whole night. The commission comes up with many excuses to not let supporters, interfere with the event in ways that favor the local team. Charles was in Arizona, where there were apparent interference and mess around. It is up to UFC to make sure this thing doesn't happen. At the end of the day, If you are a prospect fighter looking for money and fame and an organization doesn't look professional, you may look somewhere else. It is undoubtedly very disappointing that the organization has stripped the title of a fighter in shady circumstances who has been 10 years in the organization. If you are the manager of an excellent prospect, you would think twice if to sign with the organization or look for fame and money somewhere else. Bellator and One Fight are pretty good events these days.
Exato, meu mano. Pareceu muito uma hometown advantage. E o UFC é uma empresa privada, então eles podem fazer e acobertar o que quiserem, inclusive forçar um campeão americano. Zoaram a balança COM CERTEZA. Só ver as entrevistas do Charles e dos reporteres que estavam lá, muitos dos atletas falam a mesma coisa.
"this was a pointless title intended to sell pay-per-views"... As opposed to all of the other titles with "points" beyond entertainment value??? What do you think this is really about, man?
6:50 for anyone that actually watched MMA before Conor started fighting, Dan Henderson was the Welterweight (185) and Middleweight (205) Champ Champ in PRIDE almost a whole decade before Conor did it
The way it SHOULD be is that the fighters weigh in right before the fight like literally 10 minutes before the fight and if they miss weight then they lose 80% of their pay. I can guarantee that no one would miss weight anymore and no more of this moving weight classes every other fight everything would be much simpler!

Honorable mention to when WEC Middleweight champ Paulo Filho failed to make weight against Chael Sonnen during their title rematch, a rematch Sonnen won, never got the championship for and never will because WEC was folded two years later.
I think it's hilarious how DC finessed the NY athletic commission. Can't be mad he got one over on em. Dude lost 5 lbs in 3 minute. 😂😂 Love you DC!!! Edit: I do think they should add a 165 lb weight class and make 205-225 heavyweight and 225-265 super heavyweight. 205-265 is a huge difference.
Either modify/change the weight limits, or base it on walking around weight. I don't know exactly how they'd do the former, I'll admit. The latter I can simply point to the hospitalizations or dropped fights included in the video. There's nothing healthy about being to the point of trembling and almost passing out at the weigh-in.
Idk remember Al missing weight but it's crazy that Dana said he can't still win the belt if he won...but do Bronx can't bc there are rules....like now with everything that came out about the scale, having multiple fighter saying it was fucked up...he should give the belt to do Bronx....does anyone know if they took away the ppv points
Im still confused on the Nico Montoya events. She said she couldn't make the weight. Dana threatens to strip her, she tries and doesn't, dana blames her for everything.
I've been watching ufc since Tito Vs Shamrock 1. And I've never seen them steal the belt from someone for missing weight usually when this happens they just make it a non title fight. This just goes to show how much the UFC has no respect for their fighters. Sure the commission are the ones that made the decision and not the UFC, BUT!! It's the UFCs belt. And if they wanted to they could have Given his belt back to him especially after destroying Gaethje the way he did. It's just another reason why being a champ or earning a belt in the UFC ain't shit
Making it a non-title fight only punishes the challenger. Gaethje earned his title shot & made weight, he shouldn't be punished just because Olives missed weight (*again*). That said, I fully support an immediate rematch, or giving Olives a shot at whoever has the belt next.
@@elizabethgeorge168 well he didn't even end up winning, stealing the belt from Charles is a bit much. He could have also given up a certain percentage of his purse but they just went to worst thing they could do to him first
The thing is that many fighters on that card came in a half to one pound over, but still made weight. How is it that Oleveira missed weight at 155.5? Chandler weighed 156 and made weight, Ferguson 155.5 made weight, Rua 205.5 made weight (there were more) I'm confused here. Can you explain to us the fans how this is possible? Did ASAC screw Oleveira over or what?
Because Oliveira was in a title fight. Chandler, Ferguson, Rua, et. al were in non-title fights. For non-title fights, you get a 1 pound allowance, so if you're fighting at lightweight, you can weight up to 1 pound over the 155 limit and still make weight. For title fights, however, you get no such allowance, so you have to be exactly 155 or under to make weight.

*^ This is the way.*
Dana White privilege©️
Yea the issues is not that Tony didn’t get title shots but he should have been promoted to undisputed
@@scottc2076 Exactly, just like they did with Whittaker since Yoel missed weight.
I don't understand, please help. Somebody told me years ago that you want to train heavier, cut to make the weigh in, then fight heavy...is that right?
Yep that’s right.
@@hellofrominside8524 ok, I get that being heavier can give an advantage, but how much heavier can they get between weigh in and fight night for that to matter so much? Does training and walking around at a heavier weight give that much of an advantage?
still has me rolling, chiesa with his tooth pick like he's the gangster all cool then suing the shit out of the guy like he was beaten like he stole something
Top 10 times Diego Sanchez made us collectively say, "WTF?"
Cmon guys, youre a good mma channel, you should know connor wasn't the sports first double champ
The disrespect to Dan Henderson’s name. And don’t give us that “in UFC” when clearly Jason says “the World’s first.” Tisk, tisk.
Dammit what’s the name of movie scene he used at -5:30. I watched it years ago but can’t remember it’s name for the life of me
Oliveira has missed weight 6 times in his career but his fans don't like to hear about that
yeah and then they will complain about yoel, dern or whomever
Truth
That's true, but this time was a little bit strange.
HOW DO U KNOW ??
He was at 145 when missed alot

Jone Jones Eye Poke*
Charles Olives RNC

Tony’s Elbows, Bisping left hook Larry, Aljo acting, Paul Craig triangle
They have done top ten signature moves in mma
Chandler Bodyslam, Cory Sandhagen jumping knee, Poirier shifting combo, Gaethje Calf kicks, Izzy Dry hump
Man every time I see Paddy making weight vs how he’s off season makes me concerned for his health
Paddy is undoubtedly on EPO. There is no possible way he gets THAT blown up & suddenly is completely shredded at weigh-ins. It does not physically make sense. He’s 100% on EPO or something akin to it.
So is that towel move allowed or nah?
The weight classes exist in the first place to ensure some degree of equality between combatants which isn't always the case when you have guys dropping insane amounts of weight. I personally think they should just allow a 1 pound difference. That pound isn't going to determine the outcome of the fight and there is plenty of evidence of that within this video. If a fighter misses weight twice, they should be forced to move up a division but there needs to be more leniency, even if it's only a half-pound. At that point being disqualified or penalized seems beyond insane. The scales still said 155 for Charles.
they allow a 1lbs difference in non title fights.
What you want exists for non title fights. Champions should be able to make championship weight otherwise they shouldn't be champion.
I believe there should be more divisions it would open the door for some of those fighters that are not really supposed to be in that weight but they have no other option.
Boxing offers the Titan division. Reserved for those guys that resemble Bob Sapp. The guys who are just absolutely huge.
Do a list about the creepiest relationships between fighter and coaches

i love mma on point, watching their vids for the last 2 years regularly and ye i'm dumb af, but dam, this is soo hard to follow, dunno.. it's all over the place it seems.. at least we dont get to see close-ups of jason's face every 10 secs like in some other of his mma on point vids :P
We need top mma superstitions. Drake betting on you, haircut in embedded, Chael curse, etc.
Morning Kombat resume review
It would be interesting if UFC kept track of a fighter's walk around weight out of competition and used that to dictate their division. Instead of having guys like romero cut 30+ lbs, take their normal healthy weight and give them 10-20 lb limits
This seems so logical, I don’t get why the ufc go with the current model, just bizarre. Most fighters are weight bullies at this point
this is genuinely a terrible idea
Everyone’s walk around weight different. For example paddy pimblett. He’s a monster in the weight room he fought at 155 in London ,
,he just told everyone recently after the fight we weighed in at 202 pounds.. which would put him in light heavyweight . That’s just one example there’s probably more
@@ben9262 yeah dehydration almost to the point of death is a much better solution

Jason is alive!!!
One detail I find extremely amusing about the whole 223 situation is that Tony tripped on the cable on April Fools day
6:50 for anyone that actually watched MMA before Conor started fighting, Dan Henderson was the Welterweight (185) and Middleweight (205) Champ Champ in PRIDE almost a whole decade before Conor did it
Conor Mctaperson now he has 200 pounds full coke and roids Kebab the best ever Alhamdulillah Inshallah 2 edgy 4 me m8
The way it SHOULD be is that the fighters weigh in right before the fight like literally 10 minutes before the fight and if they miss weight then they lose 80% of their pay. I can guarantee that no one would miss weight anymore and no more of this moving weight classes every other fight everything would be much simpler!
10 times fighters were painfully unaware that they were losing the fight?
Not that anything was funny about the whole debacle around UFC 223, but the fact that we all found out that Tony had to pull out on April Fools Day is hilarious
Charles missing weight was one of the most unbelievable thing in UFC. That scales guys will forever be sus.
7:19 Conor was initially supposed to face Dos Anjos, not Alvarez. Conor ended up facing Alvarez after he beat Dos Anjos
Conor never fought Dos Anjos, you bum
I can't believe title fight weight misses are that rare
please make a video explaining MMA scoring

Honorable mention to when WEC Middleweight champ Paulo Filho failed to make weight against Chael Sonnen during their title rematch, a rematch Sonnen won, never got the championship for and never will because WEC was folded two years later.
I'm a couple of days behind but damnit when Jason The "Hart" does a video I fuckin click play!
The champion has a name, and his name is Charles Oliveira
When was the last time Jason did a video? 😂

Damn I completely forgot about Khabib vs Max almost happening!!!! Could you imagine how that fight might have played out?!?!
Nah if that GSP one counted then you have to give oliveira that same leniency
Different commissions though.

Wow I’m early. Just wanna say I’d like to take this chance to apologize
To absolutely everyone😎
Title fights, you have to be on weight bud. non title fights you can be 1lb over.

@@MagnusGoGo Yeah, I understand all that. Still doesn't sit well that the rules are different from fight to fight is all. One set of rules for all is my issue
