Eevee evolves according to your matches if you never lose to rival it's jolteon, if you lose once flareon if you lose twice vaporeon it's a game balance thing.
@@crazymulatto8981 yeah if you lose both of the first two rival matches, he gets a Vaporeon. If you win the first rival match and either lose or skip the 2nd rival match, he'll get a Flareon. Vice versa, if you do lose the first rival match and beat him in the 2nd rival match, he'll get a Flareon too. If you beat him for both matches, he'll get a Jolteon.
That's what hapoens sometimes in the game, if an NPC uses reflect he'll keep using it. Gary did it, Blaine did it once on me with his Arcanine, and once even Sabrina did it with her Alakazam
I always found it underwhelming that Gary's ultimate Pokemon in Yellow is just an evolution form of Eevee But surprising, that in Yellow, we can get a Machamp, while Gary gets an Alakazam. And it always surprised me that he didnt have a NidoKing/NidoQueen in Yellow or an Arcanine
In Pokémon Yellow, the rival's team isn't that good but I like how it's kind of based off of the anime but Gary never had a Sandshrew, a jolteon, a vapereon, or a flareon. He just evolved it into Umbereon. They should probably make a remake of Yellow with Gary's actual team. I'd like to see that. He is absolute garbage in this game. I beat his Jolteon with a level 42 Rhydon and that's a huge level difference.
@itzshadow7x His anime team seemed way better even though he had two Pokémon of the same type but Sandslash is literally pretty weak for late game. I expected Arcanine or Nidoking.
@@juew5746 Here's basically how to make your rival have differnt eeveelutions - beat him in Oak's lab - vaporeon - beat him in Oak's lab AND beat him on route 22 - jolteon - beat him in Oak's lab but lose on route 22 - Flareon
I think his ground Pokémon should be a Nidoking instead of Sandslash. And while I'm at it, he should have a whole different team, such as a Victreebell instead of Exeggutor, Poliwrath instead of Cloystar, Rapidash instead of Ninetails and Electrobe instead of Magneton.
Exeggutor is one of the best pokemon in gen 1! Psychic types have no weaknesses in first gen. And the same goes for cloyster, it's slow but people don't understand how special works in gen one. Rapidash vs nine tails is a good one though, that would be do you want the horse who hase 5 points more speed with a greater chance of a critical hit and a 100 attack start with access to flamethrower or do you want the fox with a better special, that's a toss up. As cool as poliwrath is he sucks...
Dark type didn’t exist yet until Gold and Silver to counter the psychic type like Alakazam. Bug types did have moves to hit him with, but they just weren’t fast enough to hit super effectively. Plus Dark was still considered special. Better off using physical type attacks against it considering the RBY format anyway.
At least they got better teams for some of the gym leaders but I agree that the rival's team is garbage in Yellow. It's just way too easy and predictable.
Everytime I fought him in Pokemon Yellow, he would always use Jolteon as his last pokemon. I've never seen him use Flareon.
Interesting I think as a kid he had a vaporeon for me I also had used a vaporeon on that play through

His Flareon get's stuck with reflect? Didn´t see that one before... Cool team too! XD
Not to mention, that Flareon was having a hell of an off day -- Reflect only worked once lmao
Theteam just doesn’t work well in this games AI :/
Gary: "Hmmm I've already used reflect on Flareon once how about I use it five or six more times that'll work".
It did make the fight a bit less intense I wish the ai was smarter in these games

Gen 1 AI. Reflect is a psychic type move so the AI will always use it against you if you've got a poison type Pokémon out there
ITS BLUE OAK
IA of this time makes npc fail
Why does Flareon only use reflect
Psychic move. Dumb AI
Exactly this!

I know it’s not but many only recognize him as Gary and is easier for the title recognition ^_^
