+Rizwaan Ali the only pokemon generations i played were gen 4, 5 and 6 gen 1 gives off a nostalgic feeling almost as if you dedicated your entire childhood to this game just saying
+Rizwaan Ali I know right? I showed my neighbor my copy of Blue version a week ago, and i played it a bit showing him my team and he was like "Yo these graphics suck, why dont you have Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire" and i just stared at him and slapped him...
+DragonBallZKaifan2 yep cut it by 75% instead of raising it, and if you missed with Rage it's accuracy would drop to 1/256 and it was all you could use or if you used moves like swords dance too much your stats would roll over to negative numbers.
The music when entering Lance's room is so professional and so serious sounding. I mean that sounds like you're in the big leagues now. And the gym leader music is so cool. It's like he is a double elite four and gym leader, and guardian of the top of the too by being a dragon trainer.
Yes going from the Pokémon Tower theme back to the Pokémon League theme after 3 hard fought battles kind of makes you realize what you’re about to get yourself into. Especially the way the game automatically leads you to him makes it all that more intimidating
This game brings back good memories. It took me a LONG time and a bit of trading with the Red version, but on the Blue version I was actually able to collect all the Pokemon. Every single one! Including Mew, which requires you to take certain and careful steps to find. Mew may be a glitch but it still counts as one of the Pokemon to collect. For those of you who don't know the possible ways to locate Mew, check it out online.
I heard the Gameboy had limited AI prowess. Not sure if that was the case, or they plain could have done better with the AI, since ALL Gym Leaders and important NPCs past certain points of the game has an AI of 160 since Generation 3
This was only for Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. As of Pokemon Stadium, all members of the Kanto Elite Four had Gym Leader music. It remained this way since then.
Turning 30 This Year and this is Childhood in 1 Video, Pokemon Blue was my First Pokemon Game looking Back it was really Unbalanced and Broken but that does not Matter i Still Love it 👌🏻😁.
Gen 1 just being Gen 1... Did you knew that you can destroy Lance's Dragonite with a Level 36 Venomoth? It's because he will use Agility and Barrier forever. Because Venomoth is weak to Psychic-Type moves. And Genwunners insist in saying that the new games are easy in a mental-disorder level.
The only thing I can think of that could've caused that is maybe the Arcanine has 255 or 256 HP? Possibly making the AI believe it had low HP? (Honestly I don't know. I'm just guessing here.)
As far as I remember, it is absolutely random in Gen I whether the gym leaders will use healing items or not.So, Blaine went insane even though he had full health
In the anime ,the rival,Gary ,also has a Blastoise and an Arcanine .And he,like BLUE in the game, also received his Blastoise at Professor Oak's lab as a Squirtle .
Very nostalgic! I remember back in 2001 when I had my Yellow version and Gameboy color. I battled the elite four all the time once I beat the game and eventually caught 150 Pokemon with the help of a friend's Gameboy and Blue version. Back in those days, I never knew about the glitch to catch Mew! Good Times.
Dig was so OP early on in these games... Which made catching a Diglett or Dugtrio rough unless you had a flying type but even then slash would fuck you up! Good times lol.
I've never been able to beat this game or any Pokemon game do to my blindness. Now that I have a version for the blind and visually impaired, watching this makes me wanna give it a try again. What was that attack used after sending out Pikachu's transformation? It almost sounded like, um, an engine or something similar. I usually get as far as the silph building then allways die to Blue's level 35 Alakazam because it has Psychic and Recover. Right now, I have: Vennasaur level 32, Pidgeotto level 31, Machoke level 32 and Nidoqueen level 31. I think you can have 6 Pokemon and not just 4, at least that's what it sounded like from the video.
I'm glad I found this because it accurately depicts the difficult of faxing brock with charmander. The firered/leafgreen videos its way too easy because Charmander learns metal claw and though Onix has a more powerful move to compensate mankeys also available early. In red/blue it truly is difficult with charmander unless he's evolved.
I agree especially when it’s 14’lvls lower and raichu is known to have low defense... I think back in the old game the player only takes half or not full damage while enemy takes More damage
Holy crap, I forgot how crappy these animations were! Here's a good cure for that rabid nostalgia for the "good ol' days" older gamers seem to have; get them to actually look back at these games and realise that we've come a long way since then.
NickW331 I want to know what fucking moron put the idea in your head that he said that graphics are the only thing that matters. He was just looking back and realizing how bad the graphics were, and that we've come a long way since then. He never said that graphics made a game "good" or "bad". What kind of shit are you on?
What the heck is that Vaporeon back sprite? It looks like a Possessed Kakuna! (not trashing on Generation I, Generation II was what I grew up with. Sorry Gen Wunners.)
Lol you would've defeated each Brock pokemon in 1 turn if you would've chosen Squirtle instead, and you would've saved that long time taken and potions (though I personally don't use potions). But anyway, good battles (y).
I have found that playing on the battle mode “set” as opposed to “shift” makes the game a bit more challenging, as you are not given the option after each Pokémon is K.O’d to swap out. Plus less dialogue to deal with. Great video though!

True, though the fact that you could get the 3 starters in Yellow made things a bit easier. You had a powerful Grass, Fire and Water type after Lt. Surge, instant advantage over all gyms
Its so weird to me seeing the gen 1 sprite for pikachu come out of a ball and not scream PIKA. Much as i like pikachus original cry, i spent SO much time playing yellow back in the day.
The moves chosen are the ones that the pokemon learn through level up at that certain level, that's why exeggutor only has 3 moves cause it could only learn those 3 through level up, and why arcanine has ember and leer
Imagine all the kids back then who had no idea Gary came after Lance thinking they won and didnt save the game
Its actually blue
Lance tells you about him, if u don't read dialoge, that's on u
His name is blue ,you ash fan boy
Oh who cares what his name is. He is the rival and that's it.
*Blue
A rhydon with tail whip?
An arcanine with leer?
Now I see why blue lost...
Ikr
Octillery Gaming shut yo noob a$$ up pleigh boi I’ll wreck you
Octillery Gaming it doesn’t matter how strong you Are when you are wide open you get hurt
Octillery Gaming not really you get hit with a powerful move they done
They lower defense
Post 2000s kids be complaining bout the graphics. lol this was the shizz back in the mid 90s early 00s
+Rizwaan Ali the only pokemon generations i played were gen 4, 5 and 6
gen 1 gives off a nostalgic feeling almost

just saying

+GamerDoesStuff What's wrong with ORAS? I love those games.
Torsten Atterberg Nothing is wrong he just assumed everybody has ORAS, i got nothing against the games
+GamerDoesStuff Okay
ahh Gen 1 back when slash was broken due to a bug, thunderbolt was seizure inducing and GOLBAT HAD THAT TONGUE!
Ikr
And when Focus Energy LOWERED your chance of getting a Critical Hit.
+DragonBallZKaifan2 yep cut it by 75% instead of raising it, and if you missed with Rage it's accuracy would drop to 1/256 and it was all you could use or if you used moves like swords dance too much your stats would roll over to negative numbers.
Goldbat still had "that tongue" in gen 2 if I recall correctly.
@Devil Kazuya I think you missed the point of the comment
The music when entering Lance's room is so professional and so serious sounding. I mean that sounds like you're in the big leagues now. And the gym leader music is so cool. It's like he is a double elite four and gym leader, and guardian of the top of the too by being a dragon trainer.

First Pokemon in Yellow: Pikachu
First Gym: Rock-Type
Remilia also ground type.
Rick Sanchez or Nidoran with double kick
Or mankey in yellow
use a Mankey, Nidoran or Butterfree
Rough times.
29:48 Ha! Why is he using Earthquake? Gengar has..... oh..... *no Abilities*
Sup Grinny cuz hes a poison type
+Alex Aizea The Friend Of Karla Gengar has the ability levitate but since gen 1 has no abilities Gengar is vulnerable to ground type moves.
Its a cheap way to win battles
This game brings back good memories. It took me a LONG time and a bit of trading with the Red version, but on the Blue version I was actually able to collect all the Pokemon. Every single one! Including Mew, which requires you to take certain and careful steps to find. Mew may be a glitch but it still counts as one of the Pokemon to collect. For those of you who don't know the possible ways to locate Mew, check it out online.
Watching this makes me want to go back and play Blue/Red or Gold/Silver. Great memories.
Charmeleon's gen 1 back sprite always looked like Dragonite to me
Did the AI seriously just use a Super Potion on a Pokemon at full health? WTF?
I heard the Gameboy had limited AI prowess. Not sure if that was the case, or they plain could have done better with the AI, since ALL Gym Leaders and important NPCs past certain points of the game has an AI of 160 since Generation 3
I know it did, I just didn't know it was THAT stupid...
Back then, ai didn’t really exist. It was choice through pure RNG
Blain forgot to take his medicine
The AI in Gen 1 wasn't very good.
I felt sorry for people who picked Charmander at the early stadges of the game since of Brock and Misty but you got your revenge back on Erika
Poor jungle princess!
i always pick Charmander and then catch Pikachu in Viridian forest.
P. S. I never name my pokemon.
All the game's bosses. Nice video. But as us Gen 1 veterans as kids, they were intense experiences.
I never would've thought I'd see gameplay from Gen 1 ever again.. Takes me back.. to when Red whooped me good..
Except Red was Gen 2.
........ e.e
I always feel like dancing when I hear the gym leader music in this game
Lance is the only Elite Four member who used Gym leader music
This was only for Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. As of Pokemon Stadium, all members of the Kanto Elite Four had Gym Leader music. It remained this way since then.
I loved watching this video. Brought back wonderful memories
Turning 30 This Year and this is Childhood in 1 Video, Pokemon Blue was my First Pokemon Game looking Back it was really Unbalanced and Broken but that does not Matter i Still Love it 👌🏻😁.
29 here, and Red was my first. It was definitely fun nostalgia.
Lol. Rebel with a cause starting out with good ol' Charmander!
Exegutor on the BLUE battle looked freaking scary
did blaine just wasted a move to use a super potion on his full health arcanine?
FilmesVHS good, I bought blue in the eshop
90's AI FTW.
I have blue in the eshop
Gen 1 just being Gen 1...

It's because he will use Agility and Barrier forever. Because Venomoth is weak to Psychic-Type moves.

@@takkoy8658 you can also defeat dragonite with a weedle
ALRIGHT BROCK I GOT A PICACHU AND A CHARMANDER LETS GO BROCK
It feels so good to watch this
It's just dawned on me after all these years how odd it is that they used the regular trainer battle music for the first 3 elite four battles.
To intimidate you into thinking they’re just average trainers
hi want to be friends
Lmfao why did Blaine use a Super Potion on Arcanine before you even attacked?
Good catch, I've never seen that happen before.
Ikr I just noticed that. Must've been a glitch in the game or something like that.
The only thing I can think of that could've caused that is maybe the Arcanine has 255 or 256 HP? Possibly making the AI believe it had low HP? (Honestly I don't know. I'm just guessing here.)

Look at those sounds and animations! Sooooo much cooler than the newer versions although oldschool and in 8 bit
I don't understand why people don't use Tauros. HE'S A FRICKIN BEAST
+Sharkun tru, but that just makes him more FRICKIN awesome.
kinda boring to use for me personally, his moves just dont look cool
+stupid2574 tru, he doesn't have much more than earthquake, body slam, and hyperbeam
lol your comment looks sarcastic as this moves are some of the strongest of gen 1
+cangri1788 it's supposed to be sarcastic😂
Dig was so OP early on in these games... Which made catching a Diglett or Dugtrio rough unless you had a flying type but even then slash would fuck you up! Good times lol.

Charmeleon always looked like He was praying in the gen 1 back sprites...
He prayed I want to be dragon
DORIME
Old memories so nice
I always loved the type weakness critical sound effect, it sounds like opening a bottle of soda
Original wrap was the worst.
Others like clamp is basically wrap
I'm glad I found this because it accurately depicts the difficult of faxing brock with charmander. The firered/leafgreen videos its way too easy because Charmander learns metal claw and though Onix has a more powerful move to compensate mankeys also available early. In red/blue it truly is difficult with charmander unless he's evolved.
Thunderwave used to scare me when i first played these games lol
2:11 Best sound ever
Bulba64 screech?
back when gengar was easy to defeat.
But he's easy to defeat...
Ah yes back when Pikachu looked like a Clefairy in the pokemon battle selection screen.
In pokemon yellow he got a personal sprite
@Oscar O'Donoghue ahahah i know
That music tho throughout the final battle
I remember grinding so hard in that diglet cave to lvl my chameleon to a charizard. Not that I needed it, I just liked being way ahead.
Tobias Nilsson I used to do it too I always had to had my Pokemon stronger than the gym leaders and my rival
I used Erika's gym for evolving my charmeleon in Yellow
Psychic was so OP
And earthquake
OP?
***** over powered
Rudo Douglas ^
Yes they are since ghost had no affect and no strong bug moves
Aaahhh the nostalgia it hurts
Did you just use seismic toss on a ghost type and it worked?
Welcome to gen 1
Pokemon red and blues always had the best battle music
"Hold my beer."
Love,
- Learning With Pokémon - Typing Adventure
I love RBY and GSC music, but I like RSE music a bit better
Bulbasaur is my favorite gen 1 starter.
The one version where Fire Spin was a god move and Seismic Toss could affect ghost pokemon... So much troll fun with Fire Spin XD
Or wrap
Rival: *uses moves like Leer and Tail Whip* "I can't believe I lost!"
So glad you beat the Gym Leaders in order and did Koga fifth instead of Sabrina.
This brings back memories!
Do you still have the cartridge? I do.
This video is awesome.
doesn't Brocks sprite look he's covering his shirt area?
He is, his sprite doesn't have a shirt in red or blue, since this was before the anime came out
Nice ! :-)
But WTF Blastoise don't kikk Raichy with Hydro pump ? o_o
I agree especially when it’s 14’lvls lower and raichu is known to have low defense... I think back in the old game the player only takes half or not full damage while enemy takes
More damage
Agatha's Golbat looks like Miley Cyrus
😂
man these battle graphics bring back memories, the time i lost 5 times until my Charmander finally learn Metal Claw
steel wasn't introduced in gen1 are you talking about fire red and leaf green
oh ok then ha!
@@ze-panda bro got exposed trying to act og
37:20 can't stop laughing with EXEGGUTOR in 1st gen... xD
Potato Charmeleon
Can you share the remix of the beginning? :)
Ah the good old days 1998
I can say this
he raised his Pokemon very well
I know none of my Pokémon was below level 45 by the the time I got to Givonni
I find it funny that this is almost the EXACT team I used for Pokemon Red, but instead of Tauros I used Dodrio
screech is so annoying in this game!!
You took out a rychu in one HIT..O.O..dayum..
Kinda wish we could see him struggle a bit for maximum nostalgia...
yeah, back then I struggle to defeat the elite 4.
You taught cut to Charizard?!
That is one epically harrowing gauntlet!
Although the Stadium series and remakes have better music.
Keep up the good work.
back when pidgeot just looks like an ordinary bird but T H I C C
"Thick" sounds more thick than "thicc"
38:55 best ost on 1st generation games :”)
when I played i missed gym 6 im such a dummy
Genwunners love this game, and so do i
How did you lvl your pokemon to 50 rare candy glitch?
Oh that's why my next door teacher thought Raichu you was Flareon
the days when EQ was super effective against gengar
Now that it lost levitate, he can be hit by earthquake again 😂
In Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen,Lt.Surge,after being defeated, gives the player TM34,which contains Shock Wave.
10:09 why was Charmeleon unaffected by Poison Powder?
billy ryan In first gen, attacks that miss and attacks that have no effect both say the Pokémon is unaffected.
In Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen,Blaine,after being defeated, also gives the player TM38(Fire Blast ).
wait after you heal YOU CAN ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen,Misty,after being defeated, gives the player TM03,which teaches Water Pulse .
Vileplume was so skinny back then
How beautiful graphics.
What, no poetic justice at BLASTOISE? Come on, end the adventure where it began!
Ikr
Devil kazuya It's short for "I know Right?"
I think
KailaTheCovertOne yea your correct
In Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen,Giovanni,after being defeated at Viridian Gym,gives TM26,which contains Earthquake .
In Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen,Sabrina,after being defeated, gives the player TM04,which is CALM MIND .
In Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen ,Brock ,after being defeated ,gives the player TM39,which contains Rock Tomb .
It's a good thing you named yourself "RED" and the rival "BLUE".But you could have named yourself "ASH" and the rival "GARY".
Sweet memories
Holy crap, I forgot how crappy these animations were! Here's a good cure for that rabid nostalgia for the "good ol' days" older gamers seem to have; get them to actually look back at these games and realise that we've come a long way since then.

Haha dude, that comment was a while ago. Don't ya think I realized the mistake by now? I just never bothered to fix it.
What is the music at the very beginning?
What the heck is that Vaporeon back sprite? It looks like a Possessed Kakuna!
(not trashing on Generation I, Generation II was what I grew up with. Sorry Gen Wunners.)
Lol you would've defeated each Brock pokemon in 1 turn if you would've chosen Squirtle instead, and you would've saved that long time taken and potions (though I personally don't use potions). But anyway, good battles (y).
+Max Channel probally. I think he chose charmander though because he named himself RED
+TrueMCFox Maybe some people just like Charmander (I like Bulbasaur and Charmander.)
+Carbink Cutie!!! True. but in the origins RED chose charmander and this guy named himself RED do idk.
TrueMCFox Oh lol XD
TrueMCFox origins came out years after this game
I love wrap in those games
I have found that playing on the battle mode “set” as opposed to “shift” makes the game a bit more challenging, as you are not given the option after each Pokémon is K.O’d to swap out. Plus less dialogue to deal with. Great video though!
Pokemon Yellow seemed to be harder than Red and Blue. The levels of these gym leaders are far lower. Koga had a Lvl 50 Venonant, and all of Sabrina's Pokemon were lvl 50
true that.
(also f#@! koga the bastard gave me a hard time)
True, though the fact that you could get the 3 starters in Yellow made things a bit easier.
Your rival wonders why he lost, yet he has a level 63 exeggutor with barrage and a level 61 Arcanine with leer and ember, he deserved to lose lol
The moves chosen are the ones that the pokemon learn through level up at that certain level, that's why exeggutor only has 3 moves cause it could only learn those 3 through level up, and why arcanine has ember and leer
I hope Nintendo creates Remakes this game for the 3DS....OR...At least make it a virtual console for the 3DS.
It happened :D
Ok, first we got Virtual Console and now we have a remake for the Switch. Are you a genie?
@EeveeStar 682 I think FRLG > Let's Go because sevii islands, gen 2 and 3 pokemon, less handholding and held items. Oh, and your starter can *evolve*
Yellow makes this game look like child's play. By the time you get to Sabrina, the Pokemon are level 50 so you have to grind so hard
and gym leaders didn't heal omg
