In the DS versions, I like how the protagonist of the Autobot version meets up with the protagonist of the Decepticon version and one kills the other depending on which version is being played. The one you play as wins and the other just dies. It really makes the story basically the same but with branching conclusions.
The PSP game was one of my favorite PSP games as a kid. Although looking back at it if I tried to play it again I’d probably end up hating it lmao. Great video!
You can actually change the control scheme from the pause menu after the first mission, so you don't have to play with the tank controls. Replaying the first mission will still use the default tank controls regardless of your settings, though. You can also do different kinds of melee attacks by flicking the thumbstick in different directions while attacking, which I don't think the game ever actually tells you.
Honestly, if we could have had the presentation of the console version with the story and customisation options of the DS version, it might have actually been one of the best Transformers games we've ever gotten. The Decepticon storyline is *fascinating* as they explore how each major player in the faction interprets their "might makes right" philosophy. Barricade in particular is a *shockingly* fleshed out character in the DS version, being absolutely loyal to Megatron because he is the strongest, the most cunning and the one who commands the most respect as a leader. But he also takes your character under his wing almost like a mentor when he doesn't have to, teaching you what the Decepticons are all about and warning you not to trust Starscream for your own good. He genuinely CARES about the other faction members, but the Decepticon creed comes first; and *it doesn't tolerate weakness* A fitting contradiction for a Con that chose a Police Car as his Vehicle Mode. Whereas Starscream literally only cares about himself and maintaining his position by any means neccesary, thinking that simply being feared and having power is enough to make him an effective leader. And Megatron is everything he was built up to be. Powerfull, ruthless and smart enough to instantly put together what Starscream's been trying to do in his absence. But he also doesn't care about you one way or the other, if you survive you're strong and deserve to rule. If you die, you're a weakling. This is definetly one of the most *heartless* versions of Megatron and its fascinating how this DS game did so much with relatively little.
The Cybertron mission on the PSP was hard as hell, but it had a loophole. The game allows you to save gameplay anytime, anywhere, so I ended up just saving every time I damaged Shockwave.
It's crazy to think that shockwave has the most amount of designs in the bay verse. One of them is from the movies and two of them are from video games I think I like his PSP version the best. Side note real quick:Trailbreaker should get more love in more media like movies or TV shows. Same thing with blaster or springer.
The DS Versions are the best. The character development on both sides.... (more than Bay did in 5 films), the gameplay, optional vehicle forms, maps and characters to play as. The Story and Soundtrack are so memorable too.
I played this on the PS3 and had good memories with it and even now i still play this game. This was also my introduction to Transformers since i always liked the designs in the game and the first film.
You are correct, I was the child who wanted Transformers: The Game, but my stepdad, the kind soul he is, when he was up on a trip in Scotland, picked up a copy of Transformers (PS2) instead. I was a little upset because there was no Ironhide, and i did eventually get the other one a few months later, but funnily enough. The Atari game has probably become one of my favourite PS2 games of all time
Excellent video. I hope you do more Transformers game videos in the near future like ROTF console games (both the Wii/PS2 version and the main version on the higher power systems and PC), the High Moon Cybertron games (although I haven’t played WFC yet), and Transformers Devastation. I had played the Wii version of the 2007 game a few years after it came out, and a few years after that I played the Decepticon DS game. This video made me feel so lucky those were the games I played when I was younger. The DS one definitely left an impression on me with how it made me feel sorry for some of the Decepticons, and humanized them with moments like Brawl saying “You can party with us anytime.”. I recently bought the PC version and played it with the 2.0 mod. I haven’t completed it yet (I’m at 97% on my current save file) but it was so cool to play as other characters in the hub world. It’s amazing how ambitious that game was with the cut Hoover dam level and making Brawl and Bonecrusher playable. I kinda wish the game was longer. Like I don’t think it’d be hard to imagine how they could have reused levels exclusive to the opposite faction. For example, maybe Bumblebee’s level inside the dam could be reused for Barricade where he has to infiltrate and unfreeze Megatron. Or the Autobots could go to the same military base level as Starscream to look for clues or something before rescuing Bumblebee. And of course I wish they had used the dam exterior level for both factions. We were so robbed of the Optimus Prime vs Megatron boss fight on the dam homaging the first G1 episode. I found this video very relatable. Thanks so much.
Gosh, the DS version brings back so many memories, especially that Battle for the AllSpark screen. I remember interacting with a good chunk of the players listed there on the forums. It was this game (Autobot Main, but had a Decepticon copy) and the multiplayer community it supported that would serve as the foundation for my online identity (Went simply as Obiwan on the forums, then adopted the DS bit afterwards). Fantastic times. Great video!!
Holy crap, nostalgia just hit me like a train. I remember going to my uncle's house and playing the transformers game in his PS2. It was the best game I've ever played at that time. And when I got a DS, I got the autobots version. I remembered how sad I was when I found out there were no jets in the autobots version, but I played the multiplayer of that game almost daily. I was number one in the world for the week a good handful of times.
I played the PS2 version of this game so much as a kid, it was so awesome! And then the cheat codes, man it was so cool after I found out you could unlock G1 Prime and Megatron! I got the Decepticon DS version later on when I was in middle school and I greatly enjoyed that one too. It blew me away just how vast the maps were for a DS game!
SOMEONE MADE A VIDEO ON THIS GAME??!? Dude i was OBSESSED with this game when i was kid legit my all time favorite from back then, i used to only be able to beat the game as the deceptions because i could never figure out how to get past the part where you get captured as bumble bee lol
The DS version was hands down the best. Maybe not graphic wise but gameplay wise. I mean you literally can scan any vehicle and transform into that. The map was really big and it has so many places out of the movies.
I remember playing the crap out of both DS games. I got the OG Starscream costume from a DS download station. On of my favorite lines is from the Autobots version: "This bites!" "Bites? are there Sharktacons in here?"
Just discovered your channel and I already feel I'll stick forever, I loved the way you edited and narrated, it's soo good that 30mins passed by like it was 5!
This was one of my favorite Wii games growing up. I still remember the glitch on the suburbs map after you completed the ironhide mission, if you die as bumblebee, you would respawn in the open world as ironhide.
Man, I grew up with the DS games and I love them to this day. I think I'll get my 3ds and play them soon. They are such great games and honestly some of the best DS games ever.
i had decepticons on DS and man that game was sick! i got so immersed as a kid driving around! it was basically my GTA as a kid! hours spent just driving around finding all the cars i could scan! i loved being my own custom transformer and i think it would a super cool idea to revisit.
The DS version of the Deceptions is Goated. The fact that they made the story and characters much better than the movies themselves and were able to fit a sandbox areas on the DS is highly impressive 23:55 Also as someone who maxed out the completion rate in the Deceptions. Allspark wars was only able to be played once daily after you do the daily challenge (the same orange ones you see in free roam, however every week it's an assigned one and it rotates daily). I remember scoring high on the survival mode one due that my name was on the top on the leader board for that day 😅 Either way, grinding all that to get the tokens to unlock the rest of the cheats and the highly broken G1 Starscream was worth dealing with awkward positioning to connect to a Wi-Fi Hotspot back in the day.
Oh man this was the first game I ever played on a 7th gen console I remember being 8 years old always playing my ps2 and GameCube then I get invited to my friends house across the street. He just got a Xbox 360 I remember that distinct sound it made when it turned on and the old style menu screen. Then he out in transformers and my god mind was blown harder then when I loaded up Spider-Man 2 on my Gamecube
I kinda miss the days of different game versions. Sometimes it ended up in us getting *THE* game and then other junk but sometimes we got some pretty good games out of it. I quite liked games like the ps2 version of Revenge Of The Fallen or the Force Unleashed.
When you win on the transformers psp multiplayer match due to being great on how to time the melee button to achieve the three melee combo while your friends doesn't know how😅.
the PSP version excels at multiplayer, there's straight up a community for online multiplayer that's still active to this day, a pro the PSP version has over the DS and console version is it's roster, theres a LOT of characters to play as in the multiplayer mode
I grew up with the Ds version of Transformers and man. I loved every bit of it. The amount of times I replayed Decepticon's story is amazing. Might be the most Fleshed out Ds game I have ever played.
I was honestly about to download the Transformers PSP version on my PS Vita, but after watching your video about it, you saved me from making a horrible mistake. XD I honestly played the living hell out of the PS2 of Transformers The Game. I had a lot of fun playing the game when I was younger and it was also my very first Transformers game I have ever played.
I too have played the first and second games on my 360 when i was younger, im currently 27. I also played the first game on the PSP and all the DS games too. good times. I remember a mission i had issues completing on the PSP. It was the Optimus Prime vs Bone crusher. I also think i hated the helicopter missions in the snow on the DS games. Guess i just sucked at gaming back then.
I had both DS versions in a pirate cartridge and I used to roam around the maps with different vehicles and characters making up stories in my mind swapping between both games on the fly. I spent thousands of hours doing this as a kid. Shame the cartridge eventually broke
I loved the first movie Transformers game on PS2 as it literally reminded me of Grand Theft Auto but with Transformers characters in it with free roam being avaliable. I wished the ROTF game for PS2 and the Wii was the same as the Xbox 360/PS3 versions had as I was deeply disappointed with how completely different the PS2 and Wii games were.
I find the fact that the psp version of the 07 game had like a bunch of completely unique designs with very detailed concept art released on them interesting they put a lot of effort into all of the unique stuff
I grew up with many versions of the game. My first experience with this game was the Nintendo GameCube version(which was left out of the video btw) and the PS2 version a late friend of mine had. I also had the game for the Wii, which I still have my copy of to this day. Loved the video btw. I'd like to see you make a video about all versions of Revenge of The Fallen next if you're able to.
Thanks, i'll definitely get to the other TF games at some point. Although I should mention there does not exist a gamecube version of this game, it never came out on the gamecube
I grew up with the PC PORT of Transformers the game and oh boy i spend hundreds of hours in that game and i completed the decepticons campaign first because my pc for some weird reason doesn't support the 3rd chapter of the Autobots it just crashed the game so obviously I'll go with deceptions and you know worse thing my game has no cutscenes because it was the pirated version which because of my low end computer but it ran good on my best friend's computet so the Autobot campaign was completed on his computer damn that really feels like two sides LoL. Overall man it's good to revisit my childhood game that introduced to me to the transformers franchise Thankyou for this video because i really enjoyed here i subbed hope it makes you happy take care.
The year is 2008, your brother just got you an N5 for your Nintendo DS. you download all the Nintendo DS games you want on it for free. including transformers the game for autobots and decepticons. your in the level where you have to kill brawl, but every time you shoot at him he doesn't die. your brother helps you beat him by showing you that you have to throw the other tanks at brawl to kill him.
I also grew up with the Wii version since my grandma didn't own any other console. But I mostly stuck with the PS2 version since that's what we had at home. I'm never gonna forget the all nighters I pulled playing the DS version as a kid.
the first Transformers movie game looks like GTA but with Transformers XD I'm gonna try out all the movie games and the Cybertron games now, I'm not the biggest die hard fan of GTA, I like messing around in them but Transformers being added to the mix? XD I'm hooked
The only one of these I haven't played was PSP, I would agree about the Wii version, the thing about all the shake the controller to do X games is eventually your wrist starts hurting and the camera was... well lets just say as much as I could, I stuck in vehicle mode with it's fixed camera back in the day.
I played the absolute hell out of the autobot DS game. It was my first 3D game and my first open world game. I’m still chasing the high of running around tranquility.
Never played this one, i actually played the 2004 game, i never knew it existed until i saw it as a kid & was confused but curious, so i played that game instead & it was great (even if it was pretty difficult). On another note i had a PS2 & wanted to play Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, so i bought the PS2 version thinking it gonna be the open world version as seen in the trailers only to find out that it was completely different & was a side scrolling beat em up type of game 😐 (also Spidey's model looked kind of like the Raimi version), but afterwards i did get the Wii version which was like the hd version (only with worse controls) & the main version on PS3. Same thing for Ghostbusters: the video game, got the PS2 version (it was also on the wii & no doubt controlled better then SM: WoS) & it had these stylized graphics whereas the main version looked just like the movie, although unlike the main version, this one let you pick a character: one was a male & the other was a female, I picked the female mainly because as kid i thought it would be easier (until i got to that bullshit island level) & admittedly because I thought she looked cute.🥰
It was definitely the DS version that I had and enjoyed very much 😊😊 It is just so nostalgic and I definitely also loved the Revenge of the Fallen one as well. I just wish they had done the same game design and storyline for Dark of the Moon though
the ds lite for the longest time was my only console, got an r4 card with it loaded to the brim with games. a few of them were the first games, and then rotf, played the hell out of both. it blew my mind to play an open world game on the ds, along being able to scan vehicles and switch forms.
I had this game as a kid on ps2 and was one of my favorite games. I agree with the problem of not being able to select witch transformer to be in the overworld, especially for the Autobots because every chapter ends with Optimus, except the 1st with vintage Bee, so he becomes the only character to play as to 100% half the game. And the decepticons didn't really do much in the movie, blackout attacked the base, barricade hunted Sam, then other than Frenzy just showed up for the end battle to either die without doing much or running away, so the game devs didn't have much to go off of for a campaign. Also still disappointing that Ratchet, Brawl, and Bonecrusher weren't playable characters despite having models used in game
There’s a guy on TH-cam who worked on a bunch of our childhood games and he has so many prototypes he did a 2 hour video going over the prototype of this game and what he worked on it’s a good watchb
Heya Everyone, hope you all enjoyed this video! This was alot of fun to work on, even if it took a long time to come out! XD

the PSP version excels at multiplayer, there's straight up a community for online multiplayer that's still active to this day, a pro the PSP version has over the DS and console version is it's roster, theres a LOT of characters to play as in the multiplayer mode
XD
I honestly played the living hell out of the PS2 of Transformers The Game.
Shame the cartridge eventually broke
when you were talking about the voice acting, I actually thought about that exact dialogue 20:04 and you actually put it in hahaha
For a DS game, to have Keith David and Steve Blum voice some Decepticons is nuts!
@CrystalOmega how tf did I manage to find a copy then? 🤨
I grew up with the ds games before console version but ds games I was highly addictive as a kid growing up.
at least shockwave finally got to be in the third movie
I grew up with the PC PORT of Transformers the game and oh boy i spend hundreds of hours in that game and i completed the decepticons campaign first because my pc for some weird reason doesn't support the 3rd chapter of the Autobots it just crashed the game so obviously I'll go with deceptions and you know worse thing my game has no cutscenes because it was the pirated version which because of my low end computer but it ran good on my best friend's computet so the Autobot campaign was completed on his computer damn that really feels like two sides LoL.
Overall man it's good to revisit my childhood game that introduced to me to the transformers franchise
Thankyou for this video because i really enjoyed here i subbed hope it makes you happy take care.
The DS versions will always be THE underrated gems in my eyes.
6:01 Megatron just forgot that optimus was chasing him with a pine tree all the while an epic music is going on xD
The PSP one was my first PSP game, sadly the PSP broke in 2022 so until I get another one those memories are only memories
the first Transformers movie game looks like GTA but with Transformers XD I'm gonna try out all the movie games and the Cybertron games now, I'm not the biggest die hard fan of GTA, I like messing around in them but Transformers being added to the mix? XD I'm hooked
Ngl, the DS games went HARD
I played the CRAP out of the DS version of autobots. Such a nostalgia trip
I used to love this game as a kid! I never got far because I just wanted to play as the 76 and concept camaros lol
The only one of these I haven't played was PSP, I would agree about the Wii version, the thing about all the shake the controller to do X games is eventually your wrist starts hurting and the camera was... well lets just say as much as I could, I stuck in vehicle mode with it's fixed camera back in the day.
I love that you're making these types of videos! You should make one on xmen origins wolverine or iron man 2008
I actually just got the ps2 version of this game recently. It's an impressive title for the hardware it's on.
I love the DS versions. We need them remastered with the Wifi exclusive vehicles available through other means AND new vehicle modes to aquire.
I played the absolute hell out of the autobot DS game. It was my first 3D game and my first open world game. I’m still chasing the high of running around tranquility.
Human of culture for correlating the portable versions to the Oracle games
I was addicted to the ds version such a good game
i still have the autobots ds game. I remember crying when i first finished it as a child.
That was a good review. At least I played these games again.
Loved the ds versions as a kid so much. Played them so much
What I love about this game: The free roam
What I hate about it: The actual missions
I did not expect Keith David to be the voice of barricade, that was a surprise
I remember getting this for the PS2 on my 7th birthday, at Chuck E Cheeze. Good times.
finally someone that appreciated the DS games, they were so good
It was definitely the DS version that I had and enjoyed very much 😊😊 It is just so nostalgic and I definitely also loved the Revenge of the Fallen one as well.
I've played it as a kid on PC so much. Oh, nostalgia
Fun fact: The voice actor for the protagonist in both the DS versions also voices Dempsey from COD zombies
And wolverine
