there wasn’t a windows update. Initially the sceeen was blank after seeing the Lenovo logo but now it is dead - no lights on keyboard, nothing but the “on” light on the side of the laptop.have done dump of static several times and unplugging the battery. Gone through all your steps. I was told by a tech looking at it that they thought the motherboard was needing replacement. I have managed to remove the SSD card and the info is retrievable using an encloser, thank goodness. Any other suggestions?
I pressed it for a minute, no reaction. Then a few mins later I pressed it like normal and it worked. Leaving a comment in case it helps anyone else. Thank you!!!!!
@@PC_MonkeySo my logo comes on but keeps making the startup click every so often as if it keeps restarting? Ive tried all other methods to try and get it on but it just sits on the logo.
Thank you! Was using my computer this morning normally. When i was trying to log on for class in the evening, Screen was blank but the power button was on. I pushed it down to turn off, but wasn’t turning back on. I cursed and cried lmao but did your steps a few times and finally worked😢😅
Great video. Also what about the Novo button? There should a be a tiny hard reset button like lot of the devices has which you can access with a pin or needle. Can that help too?
Yes, that can be tried and it may reset BIOS or allow you to access BIOS. This video is more for a computer that is dead and wont turn on or access BIOS though.
While holding down the power button I accidentally released the power button at only 30 seconds, instinctively I repressed the power button which started my ThinkPad. Thank you, Mark
THANK YOU!! I changed the power supply(which was damaged), then I tried to turn on the laptop nothing happened, no power. I held the POWER button down for 1 minute, re-installed the battery, then plugged in the power adapter and laptop turned on and booted up perfectly!
Thank you bro really works. Bro i got tensed.. But again thank you this work. I pressed the power button for about 30 seconds after removing the battery and then place battery again and plugged it get on. My laptop is x250 thinkpad
Hi, thank you for your efforts. I have Lenovo laptop model LOQ 16IRH8, it's just an year old, warranty just expired. The problem I'm facing is that it doesn't start when I try to power it on, I've to do discharging every time then it starts on by plugging in power cord. And another thing is it doesn't start with battery on , I've to remove battery only then it works with direct power plug in Kindly let me know if you can guide me on this issue I want to thank you again as I learnt this discharge step from this video of yours
@PC_Monkey but even without battery I've to discharge it once for 60 seconds (as you advised) and then it turns on. If I don't do this discharging step it doesn't turn on. The local technician says it has to do something with the motherboard & it needs to be replaced. I am really confused And thank you very much for your reply
I have a Lenovo 6 13ALC6. It was left on hibernate, had been plugged in and then showing fully charged light, left on hibernate disconnected to power overnight. Next day it was totally dead also with no charging light. Have tried all of the steps except taking out battery since that is more complicated with this model, also not tested RAM sticks yet. It has done this a few times before, and it seems it did a spontaneous power discharge. I charged up again and worked ok. This time it’s also not charging. It wasn’t moved or dropped. Would need to do a backup somehow before trying a reset. Thank you for your very helpful videos!
Hi, need some help here, soon if possible. My laptop Omen 15 ek-0003ns (i7 10750H & RTX2060) just "died" on me (maybe it is really dead); I was playing some games and it just shut off, no signs of life, not even the light beside the power jack. Watched your older video and did the steps. Nothing. Checked the charger/jack, disconnected and connected to the laptop, and battery; they showed numbers a bit above the specs but ok (charger/jack 19,9v instead of 19,5v, and battery 12,2v instead of 11,5v). I guess it's ok-ish, maybe the battery isn't. I just don't know what happened and what to do, besides the obvious, bringing it to a repair shop or something, but I don't really want to, especially if it's something I can solve or try to.
If, after trying all the steps seen here multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. @PC_Monkey hi sirr so I fixed it and bought a new charger but I have another problem is that my battery drains so fast like 100 will drain in 1 hour maybe even 30 minutes I have thought of format but is there another way?
Cleaned my laptop as usual but this time I changed thermal paste (I did discharge my hands before), now it won't start, the fan doesn't move but it shows the LED. also, I can only get him to show the LED when I have plugged the charger on otherwise it won't show it. I tried every method I could find online but it still doesn't wanna move the fan or show me a picture

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately the laptop doesn't power on with the power adapter only. What happened is that I got the laptop the day before yesterday from a local swap and top shop. When I got home I charged the laptop until it reached 100%. By the moment I plugged off the power adapter the battery % dropped to 78% instantly. I used the PC for about 3.5 hrs then when it reached 26% I plugged on the AC adapter the status bar showed that the adapter was plugged in but power dropped every second. The next morning I reached out to a Lenovo community where it was explained that if I do power drain with the battery removed and then plug it on and if it fails to power on then it's battery problem. So after the power drain (pressing down power button for 10seconds) I put back the battery and it never powered on. I tried the AC adapter only without the battery but still nothing happened. So I am now stuck
Ideapad Gaming 3 15IAH7 Intel, i left my laptop on then i went to nap woke up to my power light is off (either shutdown/hibernate according to the manual, not quite sure) rather than blinking light which shows that the laptop is on sleep, but the charging light is on showing white light meaning that the power supply works i guess. Long story short, the laptop wont turn on. Ive tried to do the power cycle like in the video by disconnecting from the motherboard and hold the button for around 60 second. The laptop still wont turn on. The novo button also doesnt work. Could the battery itself be faulty? Is there any possibilitt that my hardware is short-circuit? This laptop is 1 year old and due past the warranty. What could be the problem?
Hi, I disconnected the CMOS battery and it did work, but after I assembled back the t430s it did not turn on again...I still got a blinking green light for a couple times when I plug in the power adapter, maybe CMOS is gone? Bytheway, when I performed the first two tests it is clear to me that the battery is gone, but the power adapter is OK.

@@PC_Monkey Maybe I had not explained myself well. If I had got the laptop to power on and boot to windows after I disconnected the cmos and reconnected it . Why it didn't work after I assembled it back?
My Lenovo IdeaPad appears to start. Power light on. I can turn on the keyboard lighting, and cycle it. (Off, on dim, on bright, off). Holding power switch for 6 seconds turns the power light off for a second, and it lights up again. I left the pc on battery overnight. In the morning, the power light was out. Pressing power button did nothing, leaving me believing battery's fine. Plugging in the charger (about three months old) just brought on the fault I'm trying to clear. So, before I use the reset button, does this keep my files intact? I was in the process of transferring files to network hard drives when this happened.

@@PC_Monkey The lappy had been misbehaving, following the installion of W11 ver 22H2, which failed multiple times, between Dec 23 and Feb 24. I fired it up one morning, to find 22H2 installed, and 23H2 downloaded, ready to install. That produced the same problem, i.e. started installing, but never got past between 68% to 98%, if I remember correctly. I win't go into the pain that is M$ "Support", but a couple of weeks ago, it resisted all attempts to fix the issue, including downloading an iso. M$ Support loaded a "customised" image, which effectively flattened what I had. ver 24H2 is now installed, since that re-image. I've tried everything, apart from opening it. Charge pack is delivering 19.5 Volts. After running the battery down overnight, I plugged the charger back in. It got hot pretty rapidly, but cooled by the time the battery was fully charged, as indicated by the LED next to the power socket. (orange when charging, white when charged. Lenovo 5 15ach6 power button coming on but no rgb on keyboard and display black. Happened yesterday after closing lid on accident while moving laptop playing destiny 2. Wouldn’t turn on for a while at all but then it started up randomly and worked. Tried to repeat with no success. No screen, no keyboard lights, and it turns itself back on when finishing rebooting/ draining the power. Can you help? It would be appreciated

Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?

Hello! I just reset factory again my Lenovo legion y540 yesterday 8.15.2024. I did it via settings and find reset PC. And it did, now my problem is after resetting it nothing appears in the screen. I thought till now maybe it takes a very long time to regenerate the system before it wakes up or the screen pops up. But till now 8.16.2024 still nothing appears on the monitor. What should be the best thing to do? Thank you so much! Now I just let it on I will try to turn it on till the morning and see if it wakes up or screen pops out.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 3 Chromebook 11M735. Not only does the battery not charge at all (the light is solid red when plugged in), but when I try to use it while it’s plugged in, it dies within 5 minutes. I’ve contact a few computer repair places in my area, but their price quotes and solutions have varied. I’ve been told I only need to replace the battery, while another told me that even with a dead battery it should work/not shut off when plugged in and that it’s not worth repairing. I went for over a year without using the computer so I had assumed that the battery had died from non-use, but the fact that it turns on immediately when plugged in only to completely die 5 minutes later really confuses me. I’ve tried to do refreshes, reboots, restarts that I’ve found on message boards, but nothing works or the computer doesn’t stay on long enough for me to do them. Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
@@PC_Monkey Thank you for your quick reply! I tried it, as best I could, and it didn’t seem to help. I currently don’t have the tools to open the back and remove the battery. Hi! My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T440, Ubuntu OS system. I was doing a quiz and suddenly it started to lag, I couldn't press any key, and the screen just froze. I shut it down by holding down the power button. And now it doesn't work anymore, I tried the "power drain" method. Another thing is that I always put it in a charger when I use it. The power button light comes on, and I can hear the fan spinning, but after 1 minute the power button light goes out and I hear a little clicking sound. When I plug in the charger, the light also flashes. It used to happen before but I would stick a SIM tray in the hole behind the back and it’ll work now I don’t know what’s going on.

If the charger and battery are not the cause, then your motherboard may need to be replaced. Just to make sure, can you use the computer with only the charger and not the battery for a day or two? Does the computer still need to be power released before use?
@@PC_MonkeyThank you for your swift response. yes , the computer needs to be power released even if the computer is used with charger only.it happens because I used my computer with bad battery with direct power supply with charger for sometime. For your information, the power does not gets on right away even if I used charger only. it takes time upto 4 to 5 minutes sometimes upto 10 to 15 minutes to get turned on the computer. Once the computer gets on , I can use it for whole day without any problem until I shut down my computer.Awaiting for your response/thanks
@@nirdoshshahi8533 If the bad battery was too bad and damaged the motherboard in some way, it may need to be replaced at this point if simply replacing the battery does not help :(

Hi, thank you for your efforts. I have Lenovo laptop model LOQ 16IRH8, it's just an year old, warranty just expired. The problem I'm facing is that it doesn't start when I try to power it on, I've to do discharging every time then it starts on by plugging in power cord. And another thing is it doesn't start with battery on , I've to remove battery only then it works with direct power plug in
Kindly let me know if you can guide me on this issue
I want to thank you again as I learnt this discharge step from this video of yours
Sounds like the battery needs to be replaced if the computer turns on without it.
@PC_Monkey but even without battery I've to discharge it once for 60 seconds (as you advised) and then it turns on. If I don't do this discharging step it doesn't turn on. The local technician says it has to do something with the motherboard & it needs to be replaced. I am really confused
And thank you very much for your reply
Held it down for a minute and it works 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@@PC_Monkeythe videos are great and your explanations, although I have still not been able to fix my issue
Were you able to try the rest of the steps seen here in this video?

I'm having the exact same issue at the moment, did you mange to find a fix for it?

When I plug in the charger, the light also flashes. It used to happen before but I would stick a SIM tray in the hole behind the back and it’ll work now I don’t know what’s going on.
Did you perform the steps as seen here? Removing the battery to do the power drain procedure as well as the BIOS reset?
There are 2 batteries in a t440
There is a reset button next to the internal battery connector.
I don't know, if disabling it in bios will work when unplugged or if you have to replace it
Hi! I’ve tried everything in this video with my Lenovo T460 (doing the battery drains I disconnected the intern and external battery) but nothing worked… Do you have any other solutions?
If, after trying all the steps seen here multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; th-cam.com/video/YBhsVHideGE/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/HpabvrNaodU/w-d-xo.html. You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement. Let me know if you would like help with any of that or with finding a motherboard. Sry it wasnt something easier :(
@@PC_Monkey thx. by the way, do you think that a malfunction in the CMOS battery could make the pc don’t give any sign of life besides the led that indicates charging in the power button?
You're a genius🙏🏽
Thanks !! Glad this video was helpful :):)

Hello, i have one question. I replaced my broken laptop lcd with a new one. On the first try, it started perfectly. However, after shutting down and starting again, the screen won't turn on. It went completely black. The laptop is turning on perfectly. However, only the screen is not working. I tried the old screen, but it is also not turning on. I checked the power and vga connections, but they were connected. What can i do to fix the problem, or should i go for company repair.
For a computer that turns on but the display does not work, try this video first; th-cam.com/video/e9iy30J00-k/w-d-xo.html. Let me know how that goes :)
It really worked

My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad 260 and i tried all the steps except the ram and CMOS battery but it didn't still come on.
Basically when i listen to it i hear a static beeb inside the laptop like its static and doesn't stop
If the first step didnt help, I would then try the others. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?

My Lenovo Chromebook is 3 yrs old.
When plugged in the light comes on and off again.
I try again but nothing this time.
It's not getting current.
The extension cord is fine.
The outlet is good.
My phone works fine using this outlet.
Works fine on battery.
On the other hand I just watched a video where the guy took back off Chromebook.
It was getting no power.
The power light was off.
He went in and disabled the battery.
The he connected power cord to Chromebook.
The light was on, there was power.
I haven't tried this yet.
What do you propose?

I need help with my lenovo ideapad 1. It's completely dead without no power or damages. I think it's because I realized that Ive been plugging in my charger in and out and so it affected my battery charger and computer. What should I do?

Power works, but the lenovo logo doesn't come during the boot up phase, and the screen is glowing...fans are working...backlit keyboard is working. Can't access bios screen. Screen is a glowing black colour. Also, when I turn my laptop off, it turns on briefily whenever I press any key, as if it's a zombie. My laptop is not truly off?! I tried using compressed air to clean dust. Initially this worked, but I still have a black screen. What could the issue be? Many thanks
If you hook up an external monitor, can you see anything on that screen? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
Just bought a used t570, booted 2 times, accidentally battery drained it, and it wouldnt turn on, The bios reset helped though. Hopefully it wont be a reoccurring issue.

@@PC_Monkeycould a motherboard just spoil abruptly cause it worked pretty fine yesterday
@@tomivalent Yes. Everything has a lifespan unfortunately and most parts will be working fine the day before they die :(
I have tried all these things it didn't work.
My lenovo ThinkPad beeps the charging light once i insert the charger into the port and then the light goes off immediately. When i remove the charger and insert it again, the same thing happens. Sometimes it makes a little sound when that light comes up. When i leave the laptop for a long time and plug it back in, sometimes it automatically comes up but goes back off, then when i continent to remove and insert the charger, it only beeps that light. From all the instructions uou gave in this video, i cant tell if its the charger or battery because none worked.
Please help me.

I have Toshiba Satellite C850 - P5010 intel i3 . As you said I did static discharge , My computer turns it on and it works perfectly until I shut it down but I have to do it again and again after I shut down my computer. My charger and battery are good. I have already tested of these two. Could you please advise what should be done to resolve of it ?
@@nirdoshshahi8533 If the bad battery was too bad and damaged the motherboard in some way, it may need to be replaced at this point if simply replacing the battery does not help :(
Is it worth to replace motherboard or buy new laptop@@PC_Monkey . Please suggest.
