    You've gotta give props to mechanics out there dealing with terrible designs, and people that expect a clutch job to be done in one hour, especially on newer cars. Love ya work, Kevin.

    That trans/diff looked more cumbersome that most. I got a tray about the same size as yours it worked great, I can't believe I didn't think of it 30 years ago.

    I've been watching your videos for a long time now since i found the channel kevin, top job as always, and what you do deserves massive respect really.
    As a coming up and still learning mechanic myself, i've done quite a lot of clutches but on a shop ramp, but so far i've done 2 clutches on jack stands and i really know what it's like.
    I was curious though and i would like to ask your opinion if you're familiar with daihatsu copens or sirions, the earlier ones, where the design of those cars has all the engine mounts on the subframe, is it possible somehow to do a clutch on one of these without dropping the engine with the trans, just dropping the subframe, if there is a way to support the engine somehow;
    Haven't come across a clutch job on one of these yet but i've serviced one or two in the past and if i remember right there is no right hand side driver engine mount to hold the engine when all the other mounts are gone.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember correct… I have done the older version of the Sirion you’re mentioning ..
      Is there no top engine mount at all ..?
      If they’re like the old Volvo V70 where everything literally sits on the subframe it can still be done.
      Jack up the vehicle.
      Sit all subframe sides with axle stands unbolt the fasteners
      Then jack up the car a further 5/6 inches.
      After that you can work from the top accessing all relevant gearbox mounts fairly easy..
      WhatsApp me a few photos of the underside just out of interest.

      @@WMCS Thanks for replying ! Unfortunately i don't have any photos and searching online i can't seem to find good clear ones to send.
      But i understand what you said with the subframe and then jacking up the car off of it slightly. I'm located in Greece and I haven't come across such a V70 with the same design as the sirion - copen.
      Thanks a lot for the tip ! I admit i have never thought of that, just not sure if it will work on the sirion or copen, i remember the space between the subframe and the frame rails is next to none, i did the serpentine belts on a sirion not a while ago and it was a pain. If i remember right there was no top engine mount, the whole drivetrain is supported on the subframe.

    Hi Kevin hope you are well.
    I’m just in the middle of doing a clutch and flywheel job on my scirocco and your video has been an excellent reference.
    My new clutch didn’t come with replacement bolts for the pressure plate and the concentric slave cylinder. Do I need to replace these bolts with new ones or can re-use the old bolts with with thread locker and also should these be torqued up with a torque wrench or can I just do them up with a ratchet? For reference I’m using a Sachs flywheel and a Sachs 3 pc clutch kit. My car is the 2.0 tsi petrol engine. Apologies for all the questions it’s my first time changing a clutch on a car.

    Hi Kevin, you always put 2 axles stands on each side. Can you put an axle stand anywhere along the sill and not do any damage to said sill?

    For anyone wondering why he’s being so careful with those ball joint studs and nuts the reason is that they snap off really easily so you loosen, tighten and repeat until it’s off
    You only have to look at those studs cross eyed and they sheer off lol
    Glad to see your still as busy as ever bro
