In sha Allah hamza can be at the top one day, puts in effort into his videos even if he doesn’t post every week, atleast when he post it’s something good. Ym need to spread the love around share his shit like it nd what not
Solid job for, as you say, not being a mechanic. Having a unit makes these projects a lot less intimidating for DIY. Always a treat when your videos pop up.
Good job Hamza. What I did when I modded scirocco R is put some Macan callipers and two piece brake disks. Add in some OZ hlt (the ultralight ones) wheels and you shave nearly 20 pounds of unsprung weight. Massive increase in handling and definitely worth it on a front wheel car rather than going all horsepower and losing traction all the time
Man i genuinely appreciate the hard work you put into these videos. Im loving all the footage and learning so much. Had to edit this when i got near the end LOL the satisfaction you must have felt after doing that work and the engine actually works after
Really love your standard of work! Been watching for a while and it’s been great to see you improve skills throughout the builds. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
What a video, from where you started to where you are now, it's soo good to see, you doing timing belts and chains is a big achievement. The channel is growing well, keep up the content, it's motivating to see, gives me confidence to do it myself, big up Hamza
Hey what can I possibly say bro I mean from doing reviews, projects and now this DIY clearly shows ur enthusiasm to develop skills needed to get things done and like u said u never did any timing belt etc and gave it a try honestly bro ur the best individual for people that are interested In cars and projects like these to allow them to learn new skills each day may u live long and carry on the best content that is currently established 🤙🏼🤙🏼🙏🏼
A few years ago VAG centralised component manufacturing. So instead of castings being made in Germany, Spain or wherever, they are all cast in Slovakia. Components are then sent from the various factories to assembly plants in Germany, Spain, Crewe etc.
One of the first videos i watched on your channel was when you replaced the cam follower on yhe the high mileage Mk5 gti , to say you've come a long way since then is an understatement! Well done 👋👋👋
Hey TR, Nice and informative vid as always! Regarding the balancer shaft delete, yeah they troublesome oil pumps. What I did on my BWA is remove the complete what I like to call a shoebox oil pump. I then removed the chain gear on the crank and "socket pressed" a gear from a Mk4 gti Engine with a mk 4 oilpump and tensioner. Then blocked off the oil return of the shoebox pump with a bolt so there is no pressure loss. Complete oil pump deleted. Engine is more responsive and feel somewhat that it spins up faster. Only thing now that it occupies more oil. 6l thereabout. Fyi for when you want to tackle this sometime again. Cheers mate
Just so you know bro those squared off torx bits are called Ribe bits. Can get the full sets from Halford’s and that as I recently found out as the head bolts on TFSI are that type too
Mas sha Allah bro having your new setup & garage has definitely given you more confidence and made working on cars more convenient keep up the good work 👊🏽
Pretty sure you can call yourself a mechanic now mate. Cam belts, timing chains, you're tackling some pretty high level jobs, not to mention you're about to rebuild the front end of a Scirocco 🤣 Huge props to you for getting stuck in about it.
even though your not a mechanic the knowledge and the fact you attempted all of that work by urself is beyond brave. Im an apprentice mechanic but u know way more than me
Congratulations Hamza! Thats some good quality, solid wrenching there, & the results sound so much better! Keep up the great work & looking forward to the next episode. 👍👍
One small tip, timing belts usually have timing marks on them so you can line them up with your timing marks on your cam and crank pulleys. Looks like you made your own which also works, but generally the belt will have them from the factory which can let you know quickly if you're off a tooth.
Fair play mate for doing all that work, and especially with no experience I'm a trained tech with 30 yrs VAG and BMW experience and I've seen people in trade for around 5 yrs and they still struggle with this type of work 👍
Great video, well done with the work, you’re becoming an accomplished mechanic. I wouldn’t have a clue where to start with these procedures . It really satisfies my purist tendencies that you’ve used all OEM parts lol 😊.
It was serviced at Arnold Clark when it had the belt by the looks of it and they don’t authorise techs to replace the water pump unless it’s leaking so seeing an original pump does not shock me (I used to work at a Arnold Clark dealer)
Great episode love your work and doing everything correctly is so satisfying and to know your have made that engine good to go for 10s of thousands more miles Great job and car is going to be superb Good luck and look forward to the next episode. Thank you
Awesome video! Although would love to see even more detailed disassembly/assembly of parts and instructions on all the torque specs, for oil sump and any other bolts/ parts, or at least information where to find torque specs and other info. Also, ale the info about exact parts that have been used and stuff at least in the video description.
Another brilliant video Hamza love watching this kind of content kinda makes me wanna go out and start fixing cars 😂😂. Cant wait to see the next installment
superb content ! honestly top notch, love the VW parts being used...minus the "lift" i really like how your tools are not thousands and top brands £££ ...just shows you can do things on a smaller budget .
To have the confidence to even attempt all of that despite not having done a belt before is inspiring. Suppose it helps if you’ve got the money lying around to drop a replacement engine in if anything goes wrong 😂
Do an AWD conversion! Definitely pro with the servicing and repairs now. Start my AWD conversion next week on my Octavia vRS eeek! Booked the whole week off Haha
@TRHamza yes no cutting and just the welding of the two prop bearing mounts. I did the wiring beforehand and using a gen5 haldex from a yeti for some reason as it still uses the pq35 based canbus over the other mqb gen5 systems (although looking back on it best to go gen4 with the filter as you know the gen5 are a bit more needy with servicing). Give us a shout if you have any questions 👍
Epic video, subbed, like the way you create your videos, well explained, awesome keep up the good work, have defo followed you and will keep an eye out for your vids.

Fair play on doing the cam belt and timing chain to say your not a mechanic you’ve really come along way from where you started at mate good work 👌
Thank you mate 👌🏼
Such a good feeling getting a notification that you’ve uploaded, keep it up🙏🏽
Thank you!
In sha Allah hamza can be at the top one day, puts in effort into his videos even if he doesn’t post every week, atleast when he post it’s something good. Ym need to spread the love around share his shit like it nd what not
Thank you brother, InshaAllah
Solid job for, as you say, not being a mechanic. Having a unit makes these projects a lot less intimidating for DIY. Always a treat when your videos pop up.
old belt was a Gates item - probably one of the best brands for timing belts 👍
As a former owner of a TFSI engined car this was a super satisfying video to watch! Nice work mate!
Facelift R owner here. Really good to see the engine and everything broken down, not a lot of Rocco specific vids on YT with this much insight 🤝
Good job Hamza.

Hi seen someone else mention the macan callipers.. is that of the 2.0 lt ? Looking at upgrading my tts brakes
Man i genuinely appreciate the hard work you put into these videos. Im loving all the footage and learning so much. Had to edit this when i got near the end LOL the satisfaction you must have felt after doing that work and the engine actually works after
Need to do all this on my s3 so I’m glad there’s a video which covers it all! Quality video mate
Really love your standard of work! Been watching for a while and it’s been great to see you improve skills throughout the builds. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Started watching your videos during the MK5 era. Absolutely loving the in-depth content!
You're very confident for someone who's not a mechanic! Keep it up!

Quality mate! I like that your using genuine parts.
Always fits the best!
Great quality video as usual. Enjoyed seeing you attempt this job and the attention to detail was great.
Blimey very brave doing both ends well done Im Half way through the clip lets see how it goes timing chain next
One of the first videos i watched on your channel was when you replaced the cam follower on yhe the high mileage Mk5 gti , to say you've come a long way since then is an understatement! Well done 👋👋👋
I love your down to earth ego free videos 👍🏻

Something satisfiying about taking a engine for lumpy mess to a smooth and happy. Good vid.
Mas sha Allah bro having your new setup & garage has definitely given you more confidence and made working on cars more convenient keep up the good work 👊🏽
Subscribed. I just bought one of these and plan to do all these maintenance items over the next few months. Thanks for the detailed descriptions
In shah Allah this car will be it's former glory and tearing down the streets awesome work hamza
Sick video mate! Easy to follow guidance as well, given me the confidence to do all the bits on my tts myself 👍🏼
Pretty sure you can call yourself a mechanic now mate. Cam belts, timing chains, you're tackling some pretty high level jobs, not to mention you're about to rebuild the front end of a Scirocco 🤣 Huge props to you for getting stuck in about it.

7:14 it's a Gates brand kit, they're pretty good tbh, they use to be the OEM manufacturer for VW's belts.
Awesome job bro. Another engine saved 🎉
Congratulations Hamza!
Thats some good quality, solid wrenching there, & the results sound so much better!
Keep up the great work & looking forward to the next episode. 👍👍
Been waiting for this video to drop 😎
Great Video Hamza, really loving the repair and servicing details.
One small tip, timing belts usually have timing marks on them so you can line them up with your timing marks on your cam and crank pulleys. Looks like you made your own which also works, but generally the belt will have them from the factory which can let you know quickly if you're off a tooth.
they certainly never used to , must be a new thing , great idea though.
@tomthompson7400 Maybe it's a Japanese thing, all the toyota and subarus I've worked on had them.
@@Canuckrz its a great idea .
Fair play mate for doing all that work, and especially with no experience I'm a trained tech with 30 yrs VAG and BMW experience and I've seen people in trade for around 5 yrs and they still struggle with this type of work 👍
Thank you mate 👍🏼 I’m enjoying the learning process, no better way than just to get stuck in
Great video, well done with the work, you’re becoming an accomplished mechanic.
I wouldn’t have a clue where to start with these procedures .
It really satisfies my purist tendencies that you’ve used all OEM parts lol 😊.
Crazy too see how much needed to be disassembled to get to the belt great work✌️

Interesting, makes sense, so was a decent guess haha
I also changed my cam adjuster. That thing can also make a knocking noise.
Come a long way from polishing the S3 exhaust tips! 😅 Love the videos bro, keep smashing it 💪🏼

I take my hat off to you for investing in the proper tools. It’s a mark of your personal standards. 👍😎
Awesome video! Although would love to see even more detailed disassembly/assembly of parts and instructions on all the torque specs, for oil sump and any other bolts/ parts, or at least information where to find torque specs and other info. Also, ale the info about exact parts that have been used and stuff at least in the video description.

I was watching frotting videos and got a notifications from your channel and i had to click on it fast
This is awesome bro no one gives these enough attention!
superb content ! honestly top notch, love the VW parts being used...minus the "lift" i really like how your tools are not thousands and top brands £££ ...just shows you can do things on a smaller budget .
Thank you! Yes for the most part the lift just allows for easier filming but definitely doable on jacks 👍🏼
Allways good to wach your videos ,really clean 👍👍
Great video, well done for getting stuck in 👍🏻👌🏻
Nice little TPS haul
Great see after a while in between vids
To have the confidence to even attempt all of that despite not having done a belt before is inspiring. Suppose it helps if you’ve got the money lying around to drop a replacement engine in if anything goes wrong 😂
Great video, good work..👌..sounds sweet after what is maintenance work..why do people leave things to go so wrong..
i like how the screw on your electric ratchet progressively got more loose until it fell out
Haven’t seen anyone do a golf with a scirocco front end swap, would be sick!
Nice work Hamza man !!
Such a nice buy 😮
your quickly becoming the m539 of the VAG world
please post more about the r36 bro cant wait to see that finished

You've basically became a workshop now 😂 keep up the great work Hamza 👍
I do look forward to these 👏
Love the videos man so detailed and by the books
Always quality content 💪🏻 see you next month 😆
Great work Mister 👍👍
Amazing video. I really don’t know how did you manage to remove the engine mount bracket so easy. I suffered MY LIFE with that 🤣
It was still a bit of a nightmare, kept raising the jack 🤣 the scirocco doesn’t have access port either for the inner bolt like MK5
Well produced. Tidy. Informative. 🎉
Brilliant work, love it.
Following your channel and always watch your interesting videos from Kenya
Been waiting for this!
"serviced by Arnold Clark" says it all😂😂
What a satisfying video
Great content as always, just need more regular videos if possible 👍🏻
Just the video needed tonight, let's go.
Do an AWD conversion! Definitely pro with the servicing and repairs now. Start my AWD conversion next week on my Octavia vRS eeek! Booked the whole week off Haha
I’m looking into it! Nice- I’ve heard on the Octavia there’s no cutting needed like these would need?
@TRHamza yes no cutting and just the welding of the two prop bearing mounts. I did the wiring beforehand and using a gen5 haldex from a yeti for some reason as it still uses the pq35 based canbus over the other mqb gen5 systems (although looking back on it best to go gen4 with the filter as you know the gen5 are a bit more needy with servicing). Give us a shout if you have any questions 👍
You took a "Gates" belt off it T... oe brand 👍🏻
Epic video, subbed, like the way you create your videos, well explained, awesome keep up the good work, have defo followed you and will keep an eye out for your vids.
Great video really enjoyed it
what a nice video men thanks a million
7:21 good old Arnold Clarke 🙄
