Honestly happy to hear you guys are gonna try and save it. everyone likes to say that cars are just cars to cope, but deep down we all know how attached we can get with just a hunk of metal. I would know lol.
Earlier this summer my EJ2 got absolutely piledrived by a truck. Rear subframe is bent and cracked, rear right quarter panel looks like bacon, and the front of my car took damage too. I couldn’t drive the car for the entire summer because of the insane positive camber it had and because of the subframe. On top of that since it was a hit and run, I got no money. But despite what people said I saved my money to fix my car instead of getting a new one. Now I drive my EJ again everyday and I don’t regret it. Im grateful everytime I see it, sit in it, and drive it. Its a little banged up, but I still love my car and would never get rid of it. Lets keep these cars alive forever. You guys are awesome.
So in the UK you can insure for what they call "Agreed Value" so you tell them how much a replacement car would be, that can include importing one fresh, taxes, all the changes you make, mods and time into the car. Thats how my Miata/Roadster is insured for 12K+ USD. Not sure you have that option over there but given the inflated prices of some cars now, you should be able to do this.
Yes thank you for saving these integra I know someone selling a rs roof for like 100 bucks I can see if he is willing to ship it to ya ... Come on everyone help support so they can bro g this baby back to life I'll I'll definitely be buying some merch to help out
Thank u guys for keeping the integra alive... I love all of you guys content... best hands down from any other youtubers out there... needs some more touge videos as well.... initial d fan here... even named my first and only son takumi...❤❤❤❤ keep up the contents my dudes... don't stop... KEEP SEIKING.... MUCH LOVE FROM TEXAS
If youre worried about insurance totalling it out, when you go get an estimate tell the writer to try to not go past the threshold. Ive done it twice with my car. Still clean title. Still got my money. Still fixed it and still driving.
Honestly its not even the older cars that are the problem, its just the insurance companies that dont want to pay out. I just got my estimate today of a relatively minor crash, but I submitted photo estimates with SF and they didnt even put in the estimate the damage to my fender, headlight or wheel. They also were trying to just repaint the bumper even though theres lots of scratches in it. They actually marked the wheel as previous damage, when it was clearly not. So they said theyd pay me $950 when the headlight alone is 1k. its absolutely ridiculous.
Funny how market differences varied back then in ways you'd never see these days with 'world cars' and the bad economics of having so many local differences and parts(the DC2 must be one of the most varied for this; eg four different sets of taillights alone, two different fronts, different interiors etc). I've a JDM 98 DC2 R(I imported to Ireland back in 05) and there's no crash bar in the back(or front). I _think_ that was just for the Nth American market. So _in theory_ you don't actually need that replaced, though I suspect it lived up to its name and protected your chassis from further damage by absorbing more of the impact. The damage itself doesn't look too bad at all. I've certainly seen worse and seen worse repaired successfully. I've seen bumpers that were worse fixed too, including a UK Type R bumper patched with fibre glass. Looked like a dog's dinner at the back, but near perfect from outside. I'm surprised US insurance is so quick to write them off given DC2's(and neoclassic JDM stuff in general) are on average way more 'valuable' on that side of the pond. EG in Europe even Type R's run between 12-20k to buy, similar in Japan, but daft money in the US. Then again it's a near universal truth for people everywhere that politicians and insurance companies are dickheads.
Tube style rear bash bar? I’m getting both front and back done. Seems way tougher than the bulky OEM bars. Linda like the Checkerd Sports ones. Glad you’re saving the car. My EM1 is not the best example, but we can’t scrap these cars anymore. Made that mistake a few years ago where they were so disposable. Now theres no shells left. Its at the point now where in Ireland, people assume I own a swapped shell.
True though that might be just as much to do with rust in these parts. 🤬😁 Unless they've been filled with anti rust wax the second they came off the boat from Japan, it's a near given most have seen the welder at least once. And I know what you mean about disposable. In 2019 I was offered a 97 DC2 R at 2k. Was a bit scabby in the rear arches so would have cost a pretty penny to sort, but the interior was OK, the other panels, bumpers etc were fine. It would have been a very good spares car. Stupidly I didn't buy it, though at the time storing it would have been a problem.
@@MrGrentch Sure, my Civic was repaired earlier this year. Had to cut out some bad rust and remake the whole section. I didn’t do it. I paid some cunt that enjoys welding 😂
Damn man this reminds me of when i had to sell my integra bc i couldnt afford to fix it. Hope u guys manage to get her fixed. I can tell you guys really want this car to be minty. And i get why. Good luck guys ill be waiting on the next upload
I think the rs is integra is hard to find now a days most integra sold in America have moon roof no slick top or rs survivors. I think you are better off getting a carbon fiber roof skin then just paint it. I heard it even make car more rigid, since sheet metal flexes more.
Do y’all not ship to Canada? I tried to buy the Teggy rug but it told me it couldn’t ship to my address. I hate to see the Teggy damaged. Y’all have no idea how thrilled I am to see ur repairing it and not parting it out
Hello! We do ship to Canada and it should work. Can you shoot us an email at baacclothing@gmail.com or shoot us a DM on Instagram? We will get you sorted. Thank you!
Bruh you could fix that in an afternoon with a hammer and a welder, a whole new shell for 3% damage that really doesn’t affect anything structural? I seriously see no reason from what you shown to swap shells that’s overkill asf I’ve daily’d much worse, 6:27 then 7:00 how did you get there???
Its been 4 months bro and the car is still MIA. These kids are the worst type of "car guys" online. They give sooooo many viewers the wrong impression on "working on cars"
5:40 this mentality is so fucking gay. "I dont want to deal with this, lm going to pay someone else to deal with it" and then complains about it. Like bro, just weld a rod to the center of the dent and tap it out. And for the seal that cracked, bro u can loterally just solder that. These kids dont deserve to modify cars, theyre all talk no action
i have an integra of my own with the original stereo but i wanna add a head unit. whats the name of that head unit in the integra? did you need buy a wiring harness? did you need to buy extra trim pieces? LMK! :)
That rear end isn’t that hard to fix. Pull it out a little then Drill out the spot welds and tack weld on a new rear end from a junk yard or buy a new one.
as a integra owner my self im glad to see your keeping it. i think dumping money into fixing it to perfection would be a wast not saying don't fix the bigger problems but if the car is being used as a daily and a canyon car it runs the risk of being damaged anyways. most of the damage can easily be pulled out at home and welded where needed at least from what i saw i obviously don't know what the damage looks like in person. unless the frame damage you guys were talking about is causing issues with handling i don't see why dumping lots of money into it is worth it in the end. still love the videos and hope the car turners out good once its fixed.

Throw some stock wheels back on before you drop off the car. Paint dust and paint over spray gets everywhere.
