      Congrats guys this was one of the coolest episode both Type-R's are absolutely epic specially tastefully tunned & set by you guys and if i would must choose between them would be a bit hard but DC2 is more nostalgic might have more value since are becoming a JDM cult classic by now so much special.. Hopefully you will try to do a Type-R NSX someday that would be really interesting.. Since we watch you guys from the other side of ocean ( Europe ).. My kids say hello to both of you !

      Hello Fellas! Great video! It’s inspired me to build an Integra Type R for track and canyon driving. Is it possible to replicate an Integra Type R using a base or GSR Integra? If so, how might I go about doing it? Your advice is much appreciated.

    As a former paint guy (on the production side not the application side) I can take 3 guess as to what happened. 1) The formula they use can not be scaled down properly to make one aerosol can. Probably a pint or quart formula. 2) The base product they use is different from what your painter used and so it is never going to match perfectly (but honestly that color is pretty far off for that to be the issue IMO). 3) The guy mixing up the color was careless and added too much color. Number 3 is my vote.

    Yes, That was fun! We feel the same, never want to give up our Integra due to its visceral driving experience... A king - pure driving pleasure. At the same time my wife wont part with her Civic, because its such a comfortable car for road trips. Even with go faster parts, the Civic holds tight to the feeling of the GT cars of old - capable, fun, and refined. Two different cars with their own personalities, strengths and attributes - You did a great job of showing these two cars, as always, looking forward to what's next.

    Love these type of cars. Especially the DC2. Reminds me of my 97 M3. Not a ton of power, but just enough to ride the limits, which is what it's all about. Plus, it's so analog when compared to cars of today. You guys should get one 😉

  • @meangreenhatch1
    @meangreenhatch1 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    In comparing Type R to Type R (clone), you have to give it to the Integra. 1 second Lap time differential between them but the Civic has a supercharger helping it make that power down the straights. NA to NA the Integra would've posted the quicker lap time.

    Hondas bring the views because they are attainable and daily / track driveable! To that end there is no shortage of amazing Hondas out there you haven't touched yet: Fit, CRX, NSX, Element, Prelude, and all kinds of Acuras including Canadian market only Acuras.

    • @frankchang7454
      @frankchang7454 ปีที่แล้ว

      What honda is attainable in the Canadian market except for the 01-up civics and fits? The crx is not attainable. It is easier to attain a Porsche GT3 than a ef civic or crx or a eg civic. Clean ef civic and crxs are hitting 50K prices and guaranteed in 2 years just a rusted ef shell will be so rare, it will be 20K. That type-r in 2 years $150K. I find many Canadians can't see the future forecast in the older Hondas so they are not buying them until it is too late...then they will complain the prices are too high😂

      @@KeanF84 I used 2K on a set of Brembo’s I refinished. I powder coated them, scuffed, applied the decals and gave them 2 heavy coats of Matt 2K clear and they look perfect 2 years later. on the lip paint, it was probably the clear coat that turned it yellow, that's if it was a laquer-based clear coat. Touch-up direct paint is great, and water based, then I would go over it with spray max 2k clear, which is a legit clear coat with an activator in the bottom that you puncture and mix before spraying its the real deal.
    (Just make sure to wear a respirator when using a real deal clear with an activator.)

    think the biggest issue why cars today can't compete with the 90's classic JDM is cause today's standards insafety and has changed as well as technology demands increasing weighing cars down plus lets be honest car manufacturers have lost the way of the past with an exception in some cases for example the BRZ/86 twins.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo ปีที่แล้ว

      The BRZ/86 is definitely the best brand new 10-15 year old car you can buy! A real throwback to the peak ICE era that cars like the FA5/FD2 or E90 M3 come from. The FA24 makes just as much jam as the K24 now, too.

    What incredible cars! The FA5 is my DD for many reasons. Its usability in all conditions, either at the track or on the highway, by myself or loaded up with my family. Is why itll be more meaningful to me. It just does Everything well. The DC2 is hands down a better 'sports' car. And something anyone would love. But the FA5 for me is more enjoyable.

    Awesome video, 50mm spacer up front and 20mm rear seems like such a difference. Are you using wide fenders up front or something for it needing the 50mm?

    Great cars! Cheers guys. FA5 will look even cooler with some attention to the rear caliper.

    Such an amazing job on the conversion ! However it will never handle the same as a genuine fd2r as the chassis and suspension components are totally different to the base model fd platform. Chassis is much lighter and more stiff as it has extra seam welds. 😅

    check out the hood height of both car. integra typeR hood is way lower compare to FD2. I wonder what are the weight differences of two cars. I love FD2 civic so much. I will not able to get typeR for sure but I want to build one as you just did it without GT spec wing though.
    Love this comparison video so much!

    Would you guys make a video pitting these cars against the 10th gen type R maybe even the 11th gen one and giving honest opinions on the different feelings each gives you? I mean you guys do have experience with almost every gen of type R

    Cheap clear coat normally has a yellow tint to it.

    • @AngryOlive_
      @AngryOlive_ ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be but they typically put hindered amines in clear coats to prevent degradation. Now if it was an epoxy clear or base that would explain a lot.

    The 8th-gens are very good to drive but certainly the Integra (or a 4th through 6th-gen Civic) is the better track car with the lower weight and the better suspension, while the 8th-gen is good because it's so predictable, it's the older chassis that feel almost telepathic. I think the 8th-gens are a great package however for a street car -- while it's not as nimble as the Integra (or a 4th through 6th-gen Civic), IMO the 8th-gens have the edge over a Mk5 or Mk6 GTI or a Mazda Speed 3 in terms of feeling sharp & nimble and in terms of fun relative to 8th-gen Civic's direct competition.
