Great review! The craftsmanship that Ruger used to make their GSR rifles impressed me. I am hoping to find a Ruger made Marlin 1895 to call my own eventually.
@@robtower4005 nah, we can still have guns... a lot of people do. it's a common misconception that all guns were banned here in Australia, they weren't, only they were put into categories for the intended purpose of the firearm. we've got 5 main categories. cat A (rimfires, shotguns, flintlocks etc) cat B (repeating centrefire rifles) cat C (semi auto rimfires and shotguns) cat D (semi automatic centrefire rifles) cat A and B are available to everyone, cat C is available to farmers and cat D is for professional pest exterminators and security/ bodyguard businesses. then there's cat H (any pistol, revolver etc). available to competition shooters and bodyguards/security services.
@@robtower4005 We are more firearm friendly than UK or Canada at the moment. I just picked up an RM SBL, it’s glorious and smooth cycling. Running 300gr JHP Winchester’s out of it and handloading 325 monoflex.
Yes it's a pretty piece and build quality is excellent under Ruger, like the old Marlins, pre-Remington's acquisition where it all went a bit wrong. I hope Marlin offer the SBL in other calibres and also get the pistol calibre 1894 on line soon.
@Gun Mart TV I would be excited to see if they reintroduce the 30-30. I presently have the Henry in 357 with the side loader. However, something about a Marlin is special to me. Thank you, and I am looking forward to many more videos of yours.
@Gun Mart TV for some reason, the cartridge in the state is difficult to find. I presently own a Henry 357 with the side gate. It is new, and ammo is available locally.
Hi Dee, it's a Snugpack Sasquatch, mega warm and light, I also got matching bibs (salopets) with it for the really cold days up the high seat.I got it direct from Snugpack, but check out Heinnie Haynes heinnie.com as I think they have them in.
I fancy one of these as a woodland stalking rifle... However, although factory screw cutting is nice to see, I can't find a suitable moderator... Can anybody recommend one, available in the UK?
Many years ago at a BWSS shoot, bloke had a Uberti Henry rifle, which loads from the front into the mag tube. The gun was vertical and he dropped the first round down, followed by another and the base of the second one hit the nose of the first and it went off. It would appear they were reloads and he had not seated the primer deep enough in its pocket and the collision set it off.
Well I disagree that the Rugers are better than the original Marlin's. I do however believe that Ruger makes a better version of certain rifles over that of the Remlins. As for the 1895 SBL Remington had a pretty good run with them. They actually were first made by Remington as it was their design. Does Ruger make them better? Yes and no. There has been some issues with the Ruger version. I personally want a Trapper. But just to be clear as said by another this one you have is not a trapper. It is in fact a SBL.
Whoever you are. You are fantastically interesting. I could listen to you ALL day
Trapper has a 16 1/2 barrel and darker stock. That’s an sbl
That’s not a trapper…. It’s a sbl
And the “RM” stand for Ruger Made (check with Ruger) 😜, 👍🏼🤙🏼🤠
Right 👍
That's correct it's a SBL I have one 👍
Well done!

Agreed, I'm trying to find reasons not to buy one
considering getting one here in Australia for those big boars. the ol' 45-70 is sure to drop any pig, no matter the size.

Smart gun
I'd prefer if the stainless steel was matte and not shiny.
What moderator would you recommend for this in the UK
I'd be keen to know that myself, struggling to find moderators larger than 30 cal for sale here in the UK.
That's not tritium that's a a true glow fiber
When did you see a tube magazine fire a round in a chain reaction?
