It isn't hard to set up the actual damage because half of them ever made are like this lol. I've had 2 of those wash machines in a 7 year period and both had the tub/bearing/etc go bad. It's a perpetual problem particularly with GE. Never another GE washer for me!
One of the most comprehensive troubleshooting video, I have ever seen. It even has a "sample foreign objects" for each troubleshooting issue. Thanks a lot.
I really appreciate this speaker's clear explanation of each troubleshooting example. I was amazed by all the potential issues that occur from lost items migrating to the inner workings of the washer! This was an extremely valuable presentation. Thank you.
This is by far the best video on washing machine issues in youtube! Honestly, I don't know why the youtube algorithm had not brought me here before! Thank you, sir!
I can't thank you enough! I had a very loud noise during fast spin cycle. I cleaned out the drain pump trap and found nothing. After watching your video, I went back to the drain pump and looked inside. WOW there was a twist tie stuck further in. You saved me a BIG bill. THANKS AGAIN!
Repaired multiple parts in my front loading washer and was mortified to find a clicking sound that I just couldn't diagnose. I never would have thought it was something as simple as one of the counterweights being slightly loose - thank you so much for the peace of mind and saving me hours and hours of diagnosing!
Thank you so much for this video. Thought that the bearing was gone and followed your advice in the video and it turns out that one of the tub supports had worked loose. I tightened the securing screws and finally peace and quiet! Thought we were going to have to replace the machine and had gone around the stores looking for a new machine. Now that its fixed I have told my wife that we should get another 12 years service! Not sure she's a pleased as I am! Brilliant instructions!
Waow, nice preparation. A tie, a sock, a bra clamp, a coin, a broken filter...so basically anything what could go wrong. Now I know where to start checking. Thanks for the video!
A year on from this and your still helping people thank you matey you've saved me more than a few quid on an expensive repairman for a lose drum baffle
Haha, this dude must have a collection of broken washers to have an example of each incident yet mostly in the same brand, "washers everywhere, everywhere son".... Incredibly helpful thanks loads I can tell this took time to produce you did a great job, the music isn't too loud at all and you have exampled and explained things very clearly thank you......👍👌👍
Brilliant video. I heard the sound my machine is making in this video and sure enough after spending half my weekend pulling it apart the problem was exactly as predicted in video.
@Ruby Ruby It was the spider assembly. it matched the sound in the video perfectly and when i pulled the machine apart the spider assembly had eroded right through and fell apart in my hands!
Was about to take my machine apart due to the grinding noise between the drum and the tub. Decided to hold off until I inquire if my unit is still under warranty. They were close when I called. Decided to search the web for causes. Came across this vid. Finish nail on the back of the drum, not on the side as I expected at first may be caught between the drum and the tub. Saved me a lot of work.
EXCELLENT vid. i went right to work! my noise was the tip of the rubber hose (6:15) fell in into the drum, and the drum was rubbing it will spinning. all fixed!
OH THANK YOU! Shined a light through the outer drum and saw (from inside the basket) what looked liked a pen laying over the top of the drain. Removed the rear panel and pulled the drain hose. Managed to extract a nail set...not a pen. Was randomly making quite a racket! Thanks SO much!
Excellent video! Very helpful! Sadly I either have a bad set of bearings or the tub support is broken. The tub does not spin freely, is loose when I push from the front to the rear, and has a burnt rubber/plastic smell - the wet clothes actually smell like burnt plastic. Argh.....
You covered pretty much everything By watching your video my husband found our washers issue and fixed it Will try it tomorrow though to see if the loud noise at the very end of cycle is completely gone
Good article. However, this is dealing with identifying noises .... could you please NOT have music competing with the noise that we are trying to identify? thanks
He identifies as that particular rhythm and sound and you are trying to suggest genocide for his kind? Please do not try and diminish this individuals (or they) prefered pronouns! Thank you and have a nice day! ❤🦄🧚♀️
Hi. Great Video. I have a Bosch Next Washer. How do I remove the Pedestal Drawer so I can see if I’m able to access the bottom of the front loader, see shocks. Also the large round spring that holds the seal in place between basket and door. Please demonstrate how to Remove it and more importantly how to put it back. Please I need your help. Thanking you in advance Sir. All the best to you and family, Mike i.
What would be the average cost of replacing the main bearings in such a washer? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth even trying versus buy-in a new one.
ON POINT!!! There was in fact an article of clothing between the drum and the frame. I was about to open the casing. I chose to search for a solution first. As always. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAY EASIER!!! GOD BLESS YOU GOOD SIR!
This video is gold. This entire channel is gold mine! Thank you very much for sharing 👍🏼 Any other time we’d call a technician to fix the washer or probably just get a new one. Now with the lockdown and home quarantine... we have to do things on our own and this video is a saver. Thank you very very very very much ♥️
This is the best video explanation, I have ever watch. Such a great information. Thank you so much, it was a wonderful help. Like others have said this is amazing.
Thank you for such in-depth knowledge. It was very insightful. Being a first timer, I was not aware that there could be so many reasons for unpleasant sound.
My washer was making turbine loud noise when spinning i replaced the bearings and wala back to normal. 3 months later its starting to get loud again could it be the bearings again?
8:50 - have a GE front load washer that makes a chirp /squeak noise on the wash cycle when the basket changes direction. Normal sounds on all other functions. what could be making that sound? Happens more with a larger load.
This should be the first thing to try. Most modern machines are designed to be perfectly level orientation and have adjustable feet to allow that. If the machine is tilted, the suspension doesn't work correctly.
This video saved me some grief. I was about to take my washer apart because it was making a clicking noise during the spin cycle. I checked between the drum and the rubber ring and sure enough there was a coin there.
I'm not sure this helped me solve the noise but it did at least help me identify some things that it is not, so I very much appreciate that. I have an odd clunking almost like an out of balance sound but it looks perfectly balanced only at medium spin speeds and oddly worse with a empty load (like tub clean mode). Doesn't seem to have any play like you describe for bad support or bearing, although ever since we've lived here the drum does not spin super freely but is extremely smooth...though it's also the only front loading washer that I've ever used which made me think that's normal.
Hi Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting, but I still can't figure out the cause of the scratching noise of my machine...Recently, my front loader produces some sort of scratching sounds when it’s on the washing cycle when it spins slowly. No such sound is produced in the spinning cycle when it spins at high speed. I tried to check the drum after I took the clothes out but couldn’t anything stuck in it. Any ideas for the reason?
It is possible there is something between the inner and outer tub causing that sound.. At high speed the item is being pushed out of contact by centrifugal force. Is it every load or an occasional one you are hearing this noise? What model of machine do you have and how old is it?
@@partselect thanks for getting back to me! It's most loads but not every load so I found it really weird. My machine is a BOSCH series 4 and about 6 years old. I guess I'll have to get someone to dissemble the machine to check it out?
Thanks I Appreciate all your knowledge and great video. I still don’t know how to figure out why my machine just shakes and sounds like it’s going to blowup eek 😱 rattles while’s spinning too but while washing or doing cycle it’s just vibrates the whole house and interrupting noice I’m good at fixing things but I’m afraid of appliances repair it’s expensive 😢
What would cause a humming noise from the motor that's just unusually loud during spin cycle? Not necessarily abnormal in character per se, but definitely abnormally loud. No grinding or knocking or any other sound. But I've heard very loud machines in the past, but none like this one. P.S. the machine is fairly new. I rent, it was used by the previous tenant, don't know if this is a new development or not.
At the 10min mark with shocks. I replaced mine and it didn't help. Is it possible the top springs are defective? It's 8yrs old and banging on the spin cycle no matter how balanced the load.
My front load whirlpool makes a bearing type noise the first 30 seconds of the day of using it. After that it never happens again the whole day. What gives? Does the motor need warming up or something?
I have a GE front loader I bought back in 2007. Yesterday it briefly made 3 loud thumps while at low spin cycle and then a series of smaller thumps and when I looked at the left side, it looked like something from the inside was hitting against it. I saw it bulge out as it was making the lesser thumping sound. The thumping then went away at spin cycle. Is it worth fixing or should I get a new one?
That machine had a lot of issues. Stuck clothes, coins, bra coils, plastic and metal objects... I'm surprised it didn't have a dead body in there, too! 😂
My washer is spinning very fast during the cycle period, it's so fast I'm friend it might launch into orbit. Guessing it maybe be a bearing? any helpful hints?
Very thorough video I definitely have a damaged drum the plastic between the rubber and drum is falling apart and very loud when spinning. Thank you for your honesty its definitely getting replaced. Best video on duet washing machines. Thanks so much!
My front load GE washer sounds like an airplane is taking off. It is a very loud whirring noise. What could be the problem? It seemed to happen after I was trying to clean the fluid paths making sure water could flow and lint was not building up. Could I have pushed something into the bearings? Is it possible to clean?
My washing machine wasn't spinning off the water from the clothes properly. I found a bit of plastic in there. Seems to run ok now, but has a ticking sound when it spins. Is that normal please?
Front loaders that are making a thud noise are most likely is a broken suspension shock. Your machine may also be vibrating or moving around a bit more as well.
my lg4270hwa will not drain. i replaced the drain pump, drained the line and checked the filter, spins while in test mode but not when it comes to drain. pls help, thanks
I have a polystyrene block which I have no idea where to put back. It came out when I removed the back. It looks like it's supposed to be dampening so I can't put it back together until I know here I goes. 😢
Mine makes a squeaking noise of drum rubbing against seal and goes Da Dum Da Dum when I spin the drum. The drum freely turns with no problems. It won't spin off properly and the clothes are wringing wet when I open the door. I checked the belt and everything mentioned in this video and I still can't work out what the problem is. Nothing in the seal and the filter's clean. The machine's only 4 years old, so probably not the bearings. Also I never overload it, so I've no idea what to do with it.
This guy almost makes me believe I could fix my washing machine if it broke down! I'm a computer geek and should not be allowed to touch any appliance with a wrench in my hand, I know this. But still, he ALMOST makes me believe I can!
I've never seen a better diagnostic video. You even set up actual problems so we could actually hear and seem them. Outstanding!
It isn't hard to set up the actual damage because half of them ever made are like this lol. I've had 2 of those wash machines in a 7 year period and both had the tub/bearing/etc go bad. It's a perpetual problem particularly with GE. Never another GE washer for me!

I could listen to this gentleman all day he’s very professional and straight to the point 😊

Excellent coverage of the most common problems with front-loading washers! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Incredibly helpful thanks loads I can tell this took time to produce you did a great job, the music isn't too loud at all and you have exampled and explained things very clearly thank you......👍👌👍
You provided a great bit of knowledge in a fairly short time, and it was quite valuable as well! Thanks a lot for your work on this!!
Thank you! Most other videos say clean the filter and if still a sound call a technician! U just saved me $$$$
Thanks again for saving me from an expensive repair. I love my 17 year old front loader. It works like a charm now.

What about a LOUD and constant sound/'humming during certain cycles?
Excellent video! Very helpful! Sadly I either have a bad set of bearings or the tub support is broken. The tub does not spin freely, is loose when I push from the front to the rear, and has a burnt rubber/plastic smell - the wet clothes actually smell like burnt plastic. Argh.....

One of the best, most informative, videos I have seen. Great instructional/how to diagnose video!
What would be the average cost of replacing the main bearings in such a washer? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth even trying versus buy-in a new one.
You're the first video out of tens of videos that I watched that mentioned the concrete weights... that's what my problem was.
ON POINT!!! There was in fact an article of clothing between the drum and the frame. I was about to open the casing. I chose to search for a solution first. As always. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAY EASIER!!! GOD BLESS YOU GOOD SIR!
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing vid! 👏 my groaning machine had a zip tie stuck in the pump plug. Great suggestion, worked a treat. Thanks a million 😊 🙏
My washer's basket is moving exactly as you demonstrated. Getting a new washer. Thanks!
Excellent presentation and instructional value for numnerous washing machine faults. Throughly endorse this mans video presentation.

Thank you for such in-depth knowledge. It was very insightful. Being a first timer, I was not aware that there could be so many reasons for unpleasant sound.
Thank you! I needed a quick diagnostic tutorial to give me ideas of where to start looking bc just to get a tech out is $140 before any repairs.
My washer was making turbine loud noise when spinning i replaced the bearings and wala back to normal. 3 months later its starting to get loud again could it be the bearings again?
This is amazing troubleshooting! Pretty much covered every noise related issue. Thank you so much!
No
Good video. I went to tske off my rotar and the main nut was loose. Tightening that got rid of the grinding sound.
One of the most helpful videos for young adults. Thanks!
I enjoyed listening to this presentation and I learnt a lot. Thank you!
Thank you for step by step diagnosis, simple to the point. I will check my mine 🙏
Excellent video, informative and and I basically learned everything i need to know to diagnose a noise.
I have the Neptune you showed and I was wondering if you have a clue why the rinse function is quite loud all of a sudden during spin cycle rinse
Great video. Adding chapters to this video would make it even better! So one can find the issue quicker.
8:50 - have a GE front load washer that makes a chirp /squeak noise on the wash cycle when the basket changes direction. Normal sounds on all other functions.

Thanks sir for complete video worthy to watch .You mentioned all problems and solution too shown practically also .👌👌👌👌👌
Can you do another another troubleshooting video by a dryer as series of a Maytag dryer not heating
If you've just installed or moved the washing machine you should check if it is level. That was my problem. It was so noisy during the spin cycle.
This should be the first thing to try. Most modern machines are designed to be perfectly level orientation and have adjustable feet to allow that. If the machine is tilted, the suspension doesn't work correctly.
This is a magnificent guide. Thank you for knowing your stuff and presenting it well.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Mine’s doing that after I replaced the shocks. It’s a knocking sound from the back on the spin cycle. Did you figure yours out?
I should’ve said, it was knocking before and the new shocks didn’t help..

Front loaders that are making a thud noise are most likely is a broken suspension shock. Your machine may also be vibrating or moving around a bit more as well.
