I do spark 10-20 hours a week part time. I cherry pick like a MoFo, I do not accept an order that doesn't make financial sense. I currently am averaging $30+ each hour when you look at the hours I worked for the week. I have hit my goal of $400+ each week on a regular basis cherry picking. If you want I can send part of my spreadsheet I use to keep track of my deliveries. Spark has turned out to be much better in my market, I would've kept doing it full time, but I took a pay cut to $19 an hour at a W2 because I wanted benefits and paid sick/vacation time.
My best accepted offer was just a couple of days ago. It was a pickup with 2 drop offs. 8.1 miles 49 minutes. Pay was $8.12 but tips came to $54.81! And, yes, the tip came through after 24 hours.
In Orlando I work the SE area and I have 6-7 to pick from, which is great. But we also get very few shop and delivers because I think of bots are taking over that aspect of it the real good paying ones. So I just do curbside deliveries and do quite well!!
💖I am thankful to say I have never been tip-baited on Walmart Spark. I have been tip-baited only once on Uber Eats. It would be nice if our Spark tips were released the same day. 💖
I’ve only been tip baited a couple times It really depends on where you’re delivering too The biggest issue that Spark has with Shop and Deliver compared to something like DoorDash is that there’s no option to refund an item if they don’t have it but I think spark has fixed this by compensating drivers for their time with a percentage of the original payout if they decide to cancel the trip due to an item being unavailable It’s a good side hustle but it can be frustrating
@@YourDriverMike Indianapolis, IN. It was so out of hand. I'm also not exaggerating. I kept track the last couple of months I delivered for Walmart Spark. I haven't delivered for them since Spring of 2024. Not worth the risk after waiting for an order, delivering carefully, taking photos and communicating, then a zero tip after delivery.
How much do you tip a driver? Is it a percentage of the amount you paid or a flat tip? I’m getting ready to have surgery and I don’t think I’m going to be getting around so much for the next couple of months so I’m looking to start using this service. My house is pretty easy to get to since I live within a mile of Walmart and my front door is about 20 feet from my driveway where the driver would be parking. I’ve never used any delivery service outside of the post office or Amazon, so this is new to me. I just wanna make sure the driver gets paid fairly
I have found that with Spark a lot of it depends on the city as well . I have no problem at all in one city , but then drive to another zone less than 20 minutes away and the zeroing out of tips is a constant issue .
I wish I can just stay at one location and do orders from that location. I don’t like when I’m at a location and complete a order it starts giving me orders from different stores which reqs more driving. I wish Rhee was a way around this issue.
Same here in Sherman, Texas. They shifted over to only employees shopping for pickups only over the last couple of years. Not the drivers fault, but unless they shop the same store all the time they just do not know the systems or the product locations well. So that leads to a crap shoot as a customer of what we might have missing from the order.
I stopped because of customers not knowing about this four digit pin that is now part of regular stops. That is what the sign signature option is for. Geez. I tried spark weeks ago, and two of the three stops had customers who didn't know about the required pin numbers. Could it be because too many thefts? Even DD is requiring you take screen shots of the orders you pick up now.
I have been on the spark waitlist for nearly 2 years now and they’re finally emailing me again asking if I still want to drive on the platform because they will be hiring for the holidays soon again. What a joke.
I think most of the of the non shop and deliver orders are being off loaded to Uber Eats. They recently redid the zones too. Like last week of September. It’s ugly now. Huge zones here in Pittsburgh.
Just checked the zones, I do see some pretty wide reaching areas. Pittsburgh South doesn't seem too much different? West Mifflin/North Versailles/Bethel Park locations and surrounding areas
@@YourDriverMikethis zone was just 2 Walmarts and a Sam’s club off Camp Horne Road. I took 10 days off and enjoyed vacation and came back to a ton of offers…. From stores all 40+ minutes away. I wish Spark allowed you to mute stores or only sent offers near by or at a minimum sorted them in distance from your current location! I’ve made these suggestions and look forward to being ignored. Keep up the great work.
I'm waitlisted.. but I'm in rural Minnesota with only ONE Walmart in like a 50 mile radius. I know they are offering deliver up to like 20 to 25 miles for this Walmart. They just recently opened up the delivery area for Walmart and Instacart in our area. It'll be curious how well drivers do in my area considering it's only one Walmart, and further driving distances, also curious how long I'll be waitlisted.
I need to know as a Walmart employee, if I were to quit Walmart then try to do spark, will I have to wait 6 months because of “policy”??? Spark is the best in my area. $30+ a run ez
I'm on the Spark wait list here in Utah, but I use Walmart+ all the time and have to choose a delivery window with two hour blocks, is it not like that everywhere? Seems like it would solve tip baiting
Unreal that they can get away with calling it your "earnings" when a customer can quite literally snatch the tip back from you for no reason at all. People who remove their tips should be banned from delivery service. I no longer do apartment orders because they almost always remove the tip after you deliver.
Simple make it so they have to tip up front, they can only add to it for great service not reduce it, and Walmart eats the cost of mistakes and then holds the drivers accountable if they mess up too much. I think a balance between a strict and lenient accountability system for drivers is how Walmart protects itself from drivers who just dont care or refuse to do the job they are being paid to do. It reduces competition for offers by removing the abundance of bad drivers and it makes pay consistent. If you care at all about doing the job, you give any semblance of real effort, there are protections for freak accidents or uncontrollable occurrences then it should be all upside for drivers who do a good job. The system shouldnt flag you as bad, you have less competition for offers since the bad drivers are booted off the platform or restricted in some way, and the dollar amount you see of the offer is the minimum you can get making it easy to make informed choices
I've been Sparking for a few weeks now.. I don't think I've ever had a tip reduced, but is there somewhere in the app we can see the tip that was expected and then what was finalized and know if it was reduced?
This guy hates Spark. Hmm 🤔 All these gigs are good or not as good depending on your area. I’ve been Sparking for 2 years and rarely do the customers take back the tip. Why is he so focused on something that rarely happens. Spark you put way less miles on your car with Spark.
I share my personal experience here which serves as just one point of reference for viewers. I did also state tip baiting is rare but is certainly something potential Spark drivers should know about especially as it's been a persistent problem.

I assume they take out taxes as well? I'm really interested in this because that extra cash would be great
@ritualhorror taxes are not withheld from gig work income. I deposit 25% into the IRS every quarter to be ahead in the game

Best order ever. $60 order for a three pack of Kleenex 1.3 miles away.

Being dependent on Walmart for orders or having to hope for a shopping order is one of the most frustrating parts of spark. Along with tip baiting.
Sounds like you prefer shop & deliver? How's it been?

I rarely do Walmart Spark orders anymore due to the rampant tip baiting. I'd say around half of the orders have the tip reduced.

Because Spark is trash now

No protections for drivers and wait staff is horrible
