I’m sold! I love it when they don’t put too much new stuff into things. I just want a well tested and reliable product. Point A to B, safely, comfortably, and not too expensive!
One year owner now, bought the XLE AWD, glad I bought this vehicle over all the competitors, great for around town, camping, back desert roads, "no recalls!" Just a solid dependable, simple well made SUV.
I have had it since June of 22 No stop/start issue and yes I have the air bag issue but they have to check my air bag first to be sure. (They bought the spare part, relatively early tho, They know they gotta replace it)
*The Toyota Cross is built in Alabama...* that's enough to say no. Get a Japanese built Toyota hybrid instead (i.e. most of the Toyota hybrid product line).
The salesman's main job is to conceal the reason you shouldn't buy the product. I like this refreshingly down to earth engineering overview. With your honesty and integrity AMD, I don't think you would make a salesman. This is meant as a compliment by the way. Thank you for this product insight and Happy 2022 to you Sir.
Are there equivalent car care nuts for Ford, GM, Honda, etc? I think he's a great salesman in the sense I only think about buying Toyotas now, but surely there are reasons to look at other brands.
@@roverops he said conceal the reason to not buy the vehicle. Not conceal things about the car. Way too many people buy expensive vehicles with money they don’t have to impress others. And yes they conceal stuff. Most salesmen are sleazy hence are the extended warranties, window etching and 4 square method.
THANK YOU FOR SOUND DEMONSTRATION! Numerous people have mentioned that direct injection is louder than port injection. I have heard the sound change you showed, but I did not realize that was from switching between injectors. That was fascinating to hear. Also I love it when you point to a part and identify it. Thanks for teaching us students.
Just bought a new 2024 Corolla Cross L AWD. Your video is by far the most useful and informative source regarding my car on the internet. This is not an exageration, truly the best bundle of information I've seen ( and I've been looking everywhere ). I've had my Cross L AWD for a few weeks, over 700 miles, and perfectly pleased with it. I rented one back in 2022 while in Alaska in the winter, and handled highways through the Kenai Peninsula and an ice storm with not a single hiccup. The technical details in your video made even more proud and sure of my choice.
Thank you guys It! It drives like a dream, just like a normal sedan but you can certainly feel the weight difference but that's given. If you have ever driven the newer corollas, it will feel very similar. The car is relatively quiet atleast to me..(I have a modified WRX and FRS), and the only time it gets loud is when its trying to merge on a freeway. As for leg room, I am 5'5 and it is plenty of space for me in the back. With how I sit in the front driver side, I still have relatively alot of leg room in the back . If you're around my height you'll have no problem.

From a mechanical engineer and crazy car guy, that was one of the best videos I've ever seen. Straight to the point and very informative. You have earned a subscriber
This comment is VERY important to know for current Corolla Cross owners! Apparently, there is an ongoing issue with the Corolla Cross's Auto Start/Stop feature. But it only happens when the wipers are in intermittent mode. Basically, you came to a full stop and the car shuts off to save fuel (and your wipers are on in the rain). Once you take your foot of the brake, the engine will not start up again and the gauge screen will have a warning that says: "Steering Power Low, Press Brake Firmly to Restart". In order to fix this, put it in Park, then shut off the car and turn it back on again. Then you can drive away safely. There have been at least a couple dozen people who have faced this once, and some more than a few times. Some Toyota dealers are saying it is a software issue, but there hasn't been a recall for this yet. It's an interesting problem that I wasn't expecting, but Toyota needs to act on this fast, before any people get hurt. In the mean time, if you drive a Corolla Cross, disable the Auto Start/Stop feature or don't use your wipers at the same time the engine is off at a stop light. I'm sure this problem does not occur for every Corolla Cross, but the chances of it happening are increased if the above conditions are met.
I'm thinking that issue you describe might only apply to US manufactured Crosses? I have a 23 petrol /gas Cross down here in Australia and haven't heard of this issue. As far as I know the one's we get are TMC Japan manufacture and don't have the stop start feature. No recalls so far. Very happy with mine. Only downside is the 650KG max towing weight.
Just rented one for almost a month. It is more nosier than I desire but I love it! It is small enough to hit the road daily and transport items like a small truck. It isn’t small on inside but fits me perfectly. If I had the extra cash then I would get it today. At 3.17 gas it filled up less than 40 bucks. Worth the purchase for a daily work car
The car isnt noisy. It's the roads.. when you hear the freshly paved road, it's quiet. No matter what car you're in, then you hit the s***** 15-year-old road then it gets loud
We purchased a FWD XLE model in November for my wife and have loved it. This is our first CVT vehicle and even though it has “Direct Shift”, the driving dynamics still takes some getting used to (for me at least). But this Corolla Cross fits the “practicality” bill for all of the reasons AMD points out. Although it adds a lot to the cost, I do suggest the Audio Plus W/ JBL and Convenience package (moonroof and power rear liftgate) if in your budget. You will be surprised how sharp it looks in person too, as videos and pictures don’t do it justice! Glad to get AMD’s initial “blessing” 😊
@@burjis24 Yup, as @Manny Cali says, USA has the FWD for the XLE. Another difference I believe with the Canadian market is that they get the heated steering wheel along the heated seats, whereas ours only has the heated seats. It may also be available for more northern states, but we defiantly don’t need it down here in Georgia as much as others do…
I test drove a model without the convenience package and audio plus. The extra system definitely helps, my GFs RAV4 doesn’t have any audio plus and she has to have her volume up pretty high and its not quite as crisp. Love my cross, wouldn’t want another car, only thing I might trade it in for would be a hybrid version with a little more power. A boost in power and quickness plus amazing gas mileage would be a dream. Otherwise car is the perfect size and I love the cypress green the most
@@callmej3671 actually the weather package comes with heated seats and heated steering wheel. The adventure model comes with heating and cooling seats here in the USA
I have been waiting to buy a new car and based on my current 2008 Corolla with close to a Million miles (No Exaggeration at all) i MUST get another Toyota product preferably a Corolla but need some more room and this is perfect for me. The walk under is the cherry on top, great video, ive seen a lot of "reviews" none of which did what you did, Thank You. "This is a car with a function, and it does that function very very well" Sounds like a Corolla to me.
I hope you release a TH-cam video when your 2008 Corolla hits a million miles. There are already a number of videos about million mile Tundras and Tacomas but I have not seen one for the Corolla. Was your car made in California or Canada?
This type of review of a vehicle , should be on any manufacturers webpage. First thing I look for in vehicle is engine specs and transmission...Want to know fuel system type, trans, I mean. details like this man does. Most sales folks have no idea on specs, minimal, they dont care. Just want sell a vehicle. I'm impressed with this guy, job well done. I been reading up on the Cross, several reviews, youtube, but info like this wasn't mentioned. Many people just buy a vehicle on way it looks, how roomy it is, but have no clue on the specs. I've asked people, what size engine is it, they say, No idea. Spend $30k on a car and no idea of the mechanics.
Wishing you great year! You did fantastic job explaining about decent corolla cross. I really like your reviews. Corolla is TANK car. I have 1999 with 279000km and its still running like new . Even -40 degrees it performs great. I love it. Nice to see Corolla cross simple and functional. Thank you and appreciates your input
It's a bulletproof 🤣. I have a 2001 with over 303000km. Still running as smooth as day 1. Everything is still functioning including AC. I'm waiting for my 2022 corolla Cross to deliver, probably some time next month 😀.
What a great review! And such a refreshing change from the "list the specs" reviews most people do. Really appreciate your channel, I just bought a used Rav4 2009 V6 (replacing a 2000 Corolla that gave me 15 years of no major problems), and your other videos were a huge help to know what to watch out for with the older Rav4 generations. Thanks for what you do!
That was a really good review, I especially like that you pointed out the differences in the rear suspension setup, and kept showing that this is really a repackaged Corolla hatchback (which is a great thing, for reliability). Also, love the subtle RAV4 V6 nod, which was a hidden gem when it was introduced.
I lost my 2007 RAV4 V6 in the Ian Hurricane. I loved that car even though I had 140,000 miles. It had a tremendous 3.5L engine with 260+ hp. My insurance gave me $9,500 for my RAV4, and I replaced it with a new Toyota Cross L AWD for $26,750 OTD. It was the best deal I could find, and even though it is not the fasted or flashiest car, it seems practical and reliable. I just found your video about the Cross, and it confirms that I made the right decision and that the odds are that this will be a reliable and long-lasting car. Thanks for your videos. You have a great way of explaining things. Keep up your great work!
Thank you so much ! You do such a great job of the mechanical reviews ! Everyone in the world who’s a Toyota fan should watch you! I sent your video to all my friends who are in the market for a new car! And yes the back taillights do look like a Toyota Sienna first gen!!
Always appreciate the simplified yet thorough technical reviews; and your honesty makes them even more useful and stops them from being Toyota infomercials; kudos!
I remember the wifes 2009 RAV4 V6 had a leak in it's rear differential not too long after buying it. It was of course fixed under warranty and we have never had a problem with it again. We still have the car, quality vehicle without a doubt. Really no problems since that.
You are living the V6 RAV4 dream. I don't know why they stopped making them as it seems to me an AWD CUV with raised suspension needs a V6 more than a FWD Camry.
@@rightlanehog3151 I agree it's a great combo but now, as it will become my 16 year olds car, kinda wish it was the 4 cylinder. A lot of power for a 16 year old!
@@MrGomjabber Remembering myself as a 16 year old driving our Plymouth Duster with a 95 hp Slant Six engine, I would say a 269 hp RAV4 is way, WAY too powerful for a 16 year old. Let the wise parent drive the RAV4 and get the teen a nice, slow, second hand 4 cylinder Corolla or Yaris.
That's a nice looking rig. Corolla always been a great reliable car. We bought one brand new in 1996. Phenomenal reliability. Didn't take getting rear ended a few years later very well though Lol.
Thank you for the review of this new vehicle. It is encouraging to see Toyota sticking to reliable designs and didn't change what works well. The launch gear on the CVT and using both port and direct injection means this car will last a long time with basic maintenance. I could seriously consider this car when it is available.
I bought it in december 10 the same model le and its amazing perfetc size suv. Its powerfull enought to change lines easy in freeway. Do that job very well its not underpower, if you want a racing suv buy a bmw or benz for $80k to $100k lol. Its confortable, its roomy back seat, the cargo area are huge and and the average mpg in 25 miles trip its 43 to 45 👌🏼. Im very happy with my new Corolla Cross 🔥👍🏼. Thanks for always very informative vids. Happy new year !!
Exactly my thought. If you want Lexus quiet, get a $40K Lexus. If you want acceleration, get a $60K Tesla. If you want a nice BMW or Mercedes badge, get the X1 or GLA. This Cross is a nice tool to get you from pint a to b reliably without breaking the bank.
I am very impressed with this presentation and explanation of the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. There is no sales person who has the knowledge, patience or desire to explain things in such detail. Informed consumers are more likely to make a purchase, and given the Toyota Corolla reputation for durability and reliability, it would not be a hard decision to buy this model. I am probably going to look at a new vehicle in a couple of years, and all I need is an evaluation of the interior layout and noise levels at highway speed. Smaller cars tend to economize on sound insulation, but if car makers are smart, they would add sound insulation to give a smoother ride. There is nothing wrong with adopting existing technology, because that tech is proven and works.
Dear AMD, I truly love you're video's. You are very honest, & straight forward. I was a Toyota tech for several years & I can really appreciate the technical reviews you provide as a master tech. My girlfriend was shopping for a new car for almost 1 year, & watching your video of the Corolla Cross really helped us decide to order one. She's a nurse and really needs a good reliable AWD car. Thank you for sharing you're skills & talent with us. God Bless & be well.
I actually owned this engine/ transmission configuration in my 2020 Corolla SE. I owned it for a year and sold it. There was often a really hard abnormal shift when coming out of launch/1st gear into the CVT. You'd agree if you owned it for a year. Also, equally annoying was it would redline on simple acceleration typically around 35 mph when giving it just moderate acceleration. If you research and look on the forums for this you will find other people complained also. For me it just created a negative driving experience that was very unsatisfactory so she had to go. Thanks for The video and happy New!
@@ericchen776 , it didn't do it Everytime so when they tested it they never noticed it. It was a very odd thing when it did it and the fact that it was random concerned me. I guess we'll find out in the long run
@Nombre Apellido Pirelli tires with corolla 2004 are the best combination. My corolla 2006 was perfect in snow and rain with Pirelli tire more than Michelin
Thanks, this was handy. I do a lot of my own maintenance and while I can get in with a flashlight on the lot to look at these things in person, it's nice to have a quick overview online. My primary concern for any car is how much of a hassle are routine jobs to do. How much space, is the oil filter placed in an accessible location, is the battery accessible (holy crap BMW stop burying the thing deep in the guts of the mess), and so on.
Like everything about this car excellent review and very good car. Thank you Toyota for still making reliable gasoline powered cars that last many many years.
Wow, awesome! Toyota has become my favorite brand vehicle from I was age 28 and I am now age 44. I owned Toyota vehicles before and I now own a 2012 Toyota Corolla. I bought from the previous owner who wasn't caring for it very well so I am doing some work on it. I am hoping that by the help of God I will be able to own one of the Corolla Cross. Thanks AMD.
Such a great and informative video. I love how you lifted the car up and explained what's going on underneath. Thank you sir. You would make a great automotive teacher 🥰
Thanks for another honest and informative review. The Toyota Corolla is famed for being one of the most reliable cars on the market, and now it comes taller, roomier, and with AWD. A starting MSRP of 22K makes Corolla Cross a good buy. You mentioned the AWD uses the same setup, mounting, differential, and transfer case as the Camry and Avalon because of the new TNGA platform; even the suspension is similar. Clearly both a production advantage and consumer benefit.
Anyone looking at this should do themselves a favor and look at a hybrid Maverick. The base model is $20k with a hybrid powertrain standard 0-60 in 7.6 seconds compared to this slow 10 second model. The Maverick is 2' longer and is way more practical than the the cross. The Maverick hybrid system is very similar to a Prius and gets 43 mpg city. Why this vehicle along with the hrv and ch r exists is a mystery. Overpriced and not very practical. Ford flipped the script and made the hybrid standard. You would have thought Toyota would have been the first to do that. I guess they figure Toyota loyalists will always pay more for something even if another mfg makes it the standard base option. I'm sure the hybrid version of this model will add $3k to the price tag.
What's up with Toyota fanboys being overly fixated on making bold claims about how they can drive the car for 20 years. Are all Toyota fanboys poor? Why do you want to drive a barebone, underpowered, underequipped vehicle that is "outdated" the moment they release for another 20 years?
May I compliment that Toyota dealership on the cleanliness and neatness of the shop area. Not a spot of oil on the floor. In fact you could probably eat off the floor. I served a career in the Air Force and we could always tell the quality of the maintenance of our aircraft by how well the hangars were maintained. Believe me this was a big deal and the Deputy Commanders of Maintenance (DCM for short) always wanted to see a professional and clean hangar so to avoid foreign object damage to a multimillion dollar jet engine(s). Probably more than you wanted to know but I was impressed!
I've learned that as a rule, (yes, there are exceptions) that contractors I hire that keep their shop/equipment neat and orderly, tend to be more concerned over doing all the little things right, which makes a big difference in the quality of service provided. If for example, I visit a mechanic and his garage looks like the famous video-star uh, "mechanic", I go find somebody else to do the work. AMD's workspace is how I like to see it.
@@rightlanehog3151 thank you. I was told one time before buying a car from a dealer to look at the service area before signing. You can tell if maybe you should shop elsewhere. It does matter.
Finally, the review of the Corolla Cross I am waiting for. I am now sold on this Corolla Cross. will fit between the Highlander and my old Corolla sedan.
Thank you for this very informative video. We ordered a Toyota Cross in Jan. and finally getting in on Wednesday. Your video help us in knowing we made the right decision.
I've had Tercel 4wd and Corolla Alltracs before and they have been supremely reliable and similar to the Corolla Cross they are budget 4wd wagons that use many parts from the existing Toyota range. Great for parts and servicing!
Highly informative, I learned a ton. While other reviewers of the Cross complain about engine noise, you explained (and demo'd) the combo port injection and direct injection, with the noise impact of the latter. I had no idea this dual fuel injection system even existed anywhere. Also loved the electronic AWD diff engagement description at the back of the car. Now if you could only stop saying "simple" and "old school" over and over again until it reaches the level of water torture.....
Thanks AMD for the walk through. You sell more toyota's then the sales division does! I like this Corolla Cross a lot. Reminds me of my Scion XB with 150K on it. Just a simple good car I can service for then next 15-20 years.
Yes please AMD … if you can get your hands on one, I’d like your take on it. Perhaps you could also reference the Corolla Cross Hybrid in a video about the new Prius. I believe the drive system is identical?
No offense to Scotty but most of his videos are all about screaming! This guy on the other hand is purely epic! He well explains how things are put together in a scientific and well composed way! So many thanks to you sir.
Have to give Scotty respect. He pioneered this type of tube content and introduced countless non automotive people to atleast the basics. I mean you don't have what 10million or so followers with garbage content. I love this channel cause I own Toyotas and plan to buy more in the future so makes sense to follow someone who dives deep into Toyotas. Scotty has to satisfy every car guy/girls and alot of non car people. Both do great at what there target audience is wanting.
Yo Nut, i remember when you had 20k subs. So excited that you have over 200k now. Would love if you took a look at older models, like the infamous 2007 Tacoma.
Yes. Domestic Full size Pickups and SUVs will be a dime a dozen. Many of their owners will go bankrupt. Toyota body on frame SUV and truck buyers tend to skew wealthier so they will probably be ok. Toyota sells a lot of fuel efficient cars and SUVs and has more access to semiconductors so they will probably gain a lot of market share.
@@boywrenz1057 Consider yourselves lucky, still. The 5$ tag is per gallon, right? In Europe, you will pay 2$ for a liter of gasoline. That would make an equivalent of around 8$ per gallon. We have 3-4 times lower monthly incomes, and an average car is 20-30% cheaper in the States in comparison to Europe (with much better starting equipment and engine power in the States, than the European version).
Thanks for info, we are patiently awaiting ours in a week or so, we got the loaded one mostly for my daughter who will use it 99% of the time, and me with safety sense gives me piece of mind
@@broseph7-7-06 No, I actually mean the way some other reviewers go on about banal things like the softness of a dashboard and can talk about it for 10 minutes! Who cares about that cr@p?
This video does more to explain the differences in the new model than any other. Well worth the watch and much more information that the typical vanilla "driving impression" done by most.
Very glad to see this! Was interested in buying a base awd model but there is no rear wiper on that model...then you go up to LE and the price is too close to rav4....What is your opinion on the lack of a rear wiper on a hatchback? Visibility in wintertime or rain would be awful and i think toyota should not do such gm move, wiper are not luxury after all!
I would want the base model because it does not have push-button start. I would like the i6MT from the SE Corolla, but it looks like that's not going to happen.
I just bought a 2022 Corolla Cross without ever having heard of it. Wish I had watched this review before buying it because I was scared I just made a bad purchase. Very informative review and very nice car.
Great review! I wish there are more materials, for consumers, on the Direct Injection system. A lot of auto manufacture, whether it's Ford or Toyota, Lexus or BMW, have deploy Direct Injection systems in their newer generation of engines and the #1 complaint I have heard is the loud ticking noise. I've seen clients come in and complain. I have seen service advisor walk them to a same model vehicle on the lot or to a same model loaner vehicle just to tell them that they all have the loud ticking noise.
Ooh I'm in love!! I almost bought a Corolla but it was too low to the ground and hence didn't fit my standards for comfort. Decided on a Rav4 instead. But I like this version of the Corolla. A lot edgier than the original. I will be honest when I was in the market I did have my eyes on the Honda CH-R but this looks a thousand times better!
AMD, I’m wondering your thoughts on the transmission cooler/warmer- I’ve read that engine coolant’s operating temp is higher than transmission fluid’s, this would lead me to believe that the warmer would be effective in cold weather but may be unable to cool the fluid once the car was warmed up. Is this accurate?
First off, love your videos and appreciate the technical analysis of each car. Would you recommend waiting to buy a hybrid version if it comes out next year?
Great review AMD! To round out the review, it would be nice to know the price (MSRP) of the vehicle to help viewers decide whether to buy it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for showing the difference between Direct Injection and Port Injection when start up. I have a 2020 Camry and I always wonder if there is anything wrong since I see the RPM drops when changing from DI to PI
This was a very thorough and awesome review. Definitely subscribed! I liked how you were both positive about the car and excited but also spoke about the things it could possibly improve or certain letdowns that you had
Thanks for the explanation of the AWD system. It's not a Hellcat for sure, but most of us need reliable and functional transportation, that will not let us down.
I agree but it would be more functional if it had the fold-forward front passenger seat the Matrix used to offer. I don't think you can easily carry 8 foot ladders or 2X4s in the new Cross.
Very honest review and straight forward next time. let us know where to change your deferential fluid on this Car since it was a new model for this year? God bless you. wishing you a Happy New-Year.
You mentioned that you didn’t have time to drive the vehicle etc…please keep doing what your doing and lean towards the technical side of vehicles. Your #1 for this and it’s what makes your channel awesome. There’s plenty of people out there that want to tell me how it drives haha. Great great job!
Have one. One of the best cars I’ve ever tried. Rides surprisingly good, better than Lexus ES surprisingly. It’s not as isolated as you’d like, wind noise is annoying at 120kph etc.. and the CVT is kind of annoying, sound wise. But handling wise, the car is amazing. Highly recommended this car for those who are looking.
I Absolutely Love This Review. I think you hit the hammer on the head. The Corolla Cross is just a basic simple vehicle. A vehicle that would take you to Point A, to Point B and back to Point A. A vehicle that will last a long time if you properly do the maintenance. I would definitely trade in my 2015 Corolla LE for the Corolla Cross XLE.
At first glance it does seem simple although after watching the (2) part video on the engine in this vehicle, I find it anything but simple. Since the heart of the vehicle is the engine, looking at the specs and component breakdown, this is quite possibly the most complex gas engine Toyota has put in a sub 30K vehicle. Technology is not a guarantee of progress, let's give this engine 7-10 years of in the field use in all conditions before we get carried away. JMO although I'm a (6) time, new Toyota owner since 1977.
I Should have listened to Scotty. Bought Brand new 2022 Corolla Cross also traded in my 2015 Corolla. Has been in shop twice regarding start/stop malfunctioning. w/be trading it in. Nothing but ongoing issues lane assist etc. My regrets!!

Thank you so much for this video! I'm looking forward to your next thorough review of this model, when you get the opportunity. I'm personally waiting for the hybrid model, so please do that one when it becomes available, ok?
I'd also only be interested in a hybrid model....a previous comment from someone from the Middle East said there was a 1.8 litre hybrid model available there.... so it does exist already.

Good review sir. I changed the oil in my new camry hybrid after watching your channel at 1,000 miles. I did see a few particles drain out of filter from the manufacturer processes. I probably wouldn't have changed it at 1,000 miles. Thankyou for the car care tips brother. Happy New Year 👍
Transmission Confusion !!! I recently bought a 2022 Cross, and I am confused about the transmission type. According to the this video, it is a CVT. However, the shifter can be moved to the left to go into "manual" mode. The gear indicator (on the instrument display) then shows the "gear" you are in preceeded by an "M", such as M2. According to the indicator, there are 5 speeds. Push the shifter to the right and you are back in automatic mode. So do I have a traditional automatic transmission (with manual mode), or a CVT? Mr. Car Care Nut only mentions the "Direct Shift" CVT.
Wow what a great detailed comprehensive review. I recently discovered the cross after realizing the RAV4 has gotten so big since when I owned the O5 model. I was able to sit in the cross and it was a much better fit. I wasn’t able to test drive it because it had just come into the dealer and was already spoken for. I’m hoping to test drive one as In concerned about the noise. In fact I found the newer(2019) I test drove RAV4 noisier than I recall my O5. I’m also iffy about the softex fake leather in the XLE. Any thoughts ?
Thank you for doing this review !! I have been waiting for this one !! I feel alot better about this car after seeing whats under the hood and how things work !!

You really hit the nail on the head with this review. No salesman could ever explain this. May you and the family have a very prosperous New Year. 🥳
If they don't give sales staff the training, they certainly cannot expect them to explain things as well as they should.
Just got an LE for my better half. She loves it. Great review (I’m a trucker ) mechanically inclined and agreed with everything you said.
Awesome man! I just bought my Corolla Cross 2 weeks ago and have already put in 1050 miles on it! I love it
Congratulations.Does it have enough legroom in the rear?
Congrats! How would you say the back seat legroom is? How’s it drive? Noise too high?
Thank you guys It! It drives like a dream, just like a normal sedan but you can certainly feel the weight difference but that's given. If you have ever driven the newer corollas, it will feel very similar. The car is relatively quiet atleast to me..(I have a modified WRX and FRS), and the only time it gets loud is when its trying to merge on a freeway. As for leg room, I am 5'5 and it is plenty of space for me in the back. With how I sit in the front driver side, I still have relatively alot of leg room in the back . If you're around my height you'll have no problem.

Nice car 👍
Agree!

How are headlights at night?
XLE only comes in AWD in US / CANADA..how did you purchase XLE FWD ?? Which country ?
@@burjis24 USA Market has a fwd xle and awd xle
Will this corrolla with a CVT get 300k+ if taken care I really have doubts
I have a 22 Toyota Cross XLE AWD and I love it. It’s the biggest and most comfortable small car I have ever owned.
Three cheers for the V6 RAV4!!!
Are the headlights good in the night?
Thank you so much ! You do such a great job of the mechanical reviews ! Everyone in the world who’s a Toyota fan should watch you! I sent your video to all my friends who are in the market for a new car! And yes the back taillights do look like a Toyota Sienna first gen!!
I have a Corolla Cross as my daily, since beginning of 2023… not a single issue, runs like a champ, is 100% reliable, plus I get like 30-38mpg
If dealers trained salesmen to sell by explaining the car as you do, I predict they would sell more cars. You are SO good with Toyotas!
Thank you for the review of this new vehicle. It is encouraging to see Toyota sticking to reliable designs and didn't change what works well. The launch gear on the CVT and using both port and direct injection means this car will last a long time with basic maintenance. I could seriously consider this car when it is available.

Why can’t all car reviews be like this?
Great job! This is the information that’s needed.
I didn’t even know I wanted one of these until now!!
There is nothing wrong with adopting existing technology, because that tech is proven and works.
this car is noisy in highways especially with engine revving
The first gear is a regular gear and then shift to cvt transmission, that would explain the harder shift....
well what did the dealership say about it?
@@ericchen776 , it didn't do it Everytime so when they tested it they never noticed it. It was a very odd thing when it did it and the fact that it was random concerned me. I guess we'll find out in the long run
@Nombre Apellido Pirelli tires with corolla 2004 are the best combination. My corolla 2006 was perfect in snow and rain with Pirelli tire more than Michelin
@Nombre Apellido that's the only tire I would purchase when I had a 2010 Corolla S
Clearly both a production advantage and consumer benefit.
mrsp of 22k... on the dealer lot more like 28k.. can't even buy one anyways
You get a lot of negative reviews on the Cross, slow, loud, but you know what? This vehicle if taken care of will outlast all its competitors!
CVT, no thanks
CVT belts wrap after ~100K miles.... so no, it can Not last long...
Buy a RAV4 LE instead...
@@oskarngo9138taking good care of it means replacing the belt
What's up with Toyota fanboys being overly fixated on making bold claims about how they can drive the car for 20 years. Are all Toyota fanboys poor? Why do you want to drive a barebone, underpowered, underequipped vehicle that is "outdated" the moment they release for another 20 years?
Toyota CVT shall not be compared to any other cvt. Top tier product

I didn't realize you were at the Glenview dealer. You must be local to me. I watch your videos all the time as we are Toyota fans.
Customers complain about engine noise as there is no noise insulation!
Thanks AMD for the walk through. You sell more toyota's then the sales division does! I like this Corolla Cross a lot. Reminds me of my Scion XB with 150K on it. Just a simple good car I can service for then next 15-20 years.
Could you please review 2023 Corolla Cross hybird when you have a chance. Thanks
Yes please AMD … if you can get your hands on one, I’d like your take on it. Perhaps you could also reference the Corolla Cross Hybrid in a video about the new Prius. I believe the drive system is identical?

I love it!! No engine cover?? With gas prices expected to hit $4 a gallon soon, Toyota should have a very successful year for sales!!
Its almost $5 here in cali
@@boywrenz1057 Consider yourselves lucky, still. The 5$ tag is per gallon, right? In Europe, you will pay 2$ for a liter of gasoline. That would make an equivalent of around 8$ per gallon.

I agree but it would be more functional if it had the fold-forward front passenger seat the Matrix used to offer. I don't think you can easily carry 8 foot ladders or 2X4s in the new Cross.

I have sat in one of these Cross from my co worker and there is no way it ride better than my 2017 Lexus ES350. Which year of ES are you referring to?

@@bumblebay9559 which one did u get, L, LX or XLE?
@ Roberto Garcia Jr. Bought the L model. No problems since issues were fixed, dislike all cars with start/stop engine.
I have mine almost 2 years this june and has almost 50000 mostly freeway miles... no complain and im very happyl..dyi my oil maintenance i switch to 0w16 pennzoil from mobil1 ...so far so gud 5000 oil change..
@@henryhonda8408 I hope the US version is the tried and true 1.8 litre; that's what I'm running in my 2016 Prius....zero problems at 219k miles
@@henryhonda8408 in South Africa we also have 1.8 hybrid
@@stamperman1 Expect the 2.0 already used in the Lexus UX.
Awesome!! I have this vehicle and love it. Ready to hear all the technical details about it to learn more. I watched a lot of your Toyota videos to make sure I make the right choice. Thanks for taking the time to give your review of this vehicle.
I have this vehicle too LE AWD, i love it soo much!
You can't yet get one in my area. The local Toyota dealers don't have any new cars.
@@paulfortman5834 That's true. I was the first to get it at my dealership. I called and they had one arriving in a week and I just had to put a small hold payment and it was mine.
@@chrispapas303 I have the LE too. 🙂
@@chrispapas303 I am getting the LE AWD drive too and just waiting on delivery. How was it so far? I've watched a lot of reviews and a lot has commented on the engine noise. Is it really that loud? I was able to test drive before placing an order but only within the city. Would love to hear about your feedback so far. Thanks!
CVT with simulated manual mode, I am pretty sure it will even shift for you automatically.
Super helpful review! I appreciate you taking the time to go over this sort of stuff.
Finally, an honest car name. Most other car makers put there budget model on stilts, give it a new dress, over feed it and call it an "SUV"
Excellent content as always AMD. Happy New Year, looking forward to many more videos this year!
Happy New Year. The model sold in my country has the 1.8 2ZR-FE (W/ ACIS, FLF) DOHC, Dual VVT-i. Also has a full size spare tire.
Any thoughts ?
any comment on the quality of this vs a 2023 nissan rogue? specifically reliability?
Where was the transmission and engine manufactured for the Cross?
Not many people consider asking this question but could be the most important Question everyone should ask.
Thumbs up @mobile communications network
@@Chorizomicks Thanks, this is a major purchase, requires research on the subject.
@@mobilecommunicationsnetwor5268 buy a 4runner and call it a day. 100% parts from Japan and manufactured there too lol. Or the Corolla hatch
@@Chorizomicks Corolla hatch is a good recommendation in same price range.
I did look at the sticker. If memory serves right the engine in the US and transmission in Japan.
Thank you for doing this review !! I have been waiting for this one !! I feel alot better about this car after seeing whats under the hood and how things work !!
I wish Toyota would be the first one that could tuck Cat Converter some where in deep underneath the car to prevent for theft. A lot of Toyota owners suffering from those unfortunate incidents.
