    I think the best thing to do is remove the hand pump assembly, all together. I purchased one of these and within 1 year the hand pump seized. I called pyramid about it and was told the hand pump was only to be used to get a few more shots IF an external pump was not available. I took it apart, cleaned it and was able to use it for a few more weeks...until it seized again. I was told there was a 1 year warranty and the only way to have it repaired was to send it in. It would have cost more than a new one. I bought the avenger and it leaked..badly. I returned it and got my money back. Then I removed the entire hand pump assembly from the Aspen and plugged the block (inside). I have to use an external pump, but it works. I actually love this air rifle. It is accurate and consistent but the hand pump is an absolute TURD.

    Great showcase of the rifle, I had one and used the heck out of it. Many of the problems were from people getting to excited with pumping it...the orings overheat and fail. The nice this is you don't have to pump it, you can fill it with the probe.

      ohh yea, Mountain good to hear from you. I was going to mention your video in the future. I think you took out a jack rabbit at 75 yards ? Crazy far if so for such a cheap air rifle. I got done today at 25 yards able to pull off sub dime size groups 5 and 10 shots without pumping. Another few Videos on the accuracy and range coming.

      @@ShootingTargets727 It's a very usable gun, it just feels so darn cheap. As little as I like FX I will say the Independence was a pretty badass little gun, wouldn't mind having one of those.

    I like your reviewing philosophy. You just picked up a subscriber. Im a life long archer annd just retirned to airguns when it became crystal clear to me PCP was neither a fad, nor going away not long after purchase. I've since grabbed a Notos .22, an Airacuda Max .25, and a Hatsan Jet 2. All powered from the very portable GX E L3 compressor which, if i camp out not real far from the hunt will give me a weekend of hinting all three guns of I don't shhot too many "leaves" as you aptly point out (,come on guys and gals, we all do it. And it just illustrates our reviewer's frankness ). Im going to re-fuse the house-current built in inverter wall outlet in my Ford C-Max hybrid to i can reallly get mileage out of the battery operated compressor' two hefty L-Ion batteries .
    Anyway, sorry for the digression, but i just wanted to profile my use and degree of research/investment in the sport to frame my concern/question.
    So the Aspen was going to be my first entry-level choice because of the lack of need for a compressor. But i was scared off basically by the throng of complaining about the internal pump failures, either lovking in mid pump, or leaking out altogether. And i honestly was under the impression that the Aspen had been discontined. But the "freshness" of your post seems to indicate it isn't and since this obviously isnt your first rodeo with the intenally pumped guns (you mention the Nova, which, I'd also considered). So whats the story? Who's carrying it? A d has Seneca resolved the problem.
    Cause if they have, I'd really like to grab a .25 cal version (too bad there isn't a .30... That would make for a super special "if the pretty light go it" failsafe hunting tool).
    Basically, im dying to hear you take on the topic.
    And hey, THANKS for a totally rational approach to reviewing. Looking forward to whatever you publish next!
    Peace,
    Tom

    • @ShootingTargets727
      @ShootingTargets727  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that was my HUGE reservation about this rifle. I have heard they have some issues with this rifle. EVERYBODY says quality and durability is one of the main concerns. In the video I really tried to stress this. As one rifle would pump up differently than the other rifles. One Held a air the other rifle did not hold the air. Small things like this but overall I would risk this versus going PCP first. If you only do small hunting and pest control it is a cheap rifle at $250 compared to the $1000s you will have in a true PCP setup with supporting gear. I am conflicted because PCP compressors are not cheap either and they break.

    How has the built in hand pump held up?..... also, if the hand pump failed as people have said....can I still fill it up by compressor and will it still hold the air????

    • @ShootingTargets727
      @ShootingTargets727  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I cant say on the build of the pump. I can say there is an adapter to fill it up with a fill probe for sure. IT has held air.

    This was my very first PCP. It’s bigger brother was the Liberty/Alpha followed by the Origin and then the Avenger series. Nova Vista makes them all. BTW do not pump this gun fast. It took 150 pumps to fill mine from 0 to full. Take your time and in stages to keep the pump internals cooler. Heat is this pumps enemy big time! Fill with a hand pump when you can to save the guns onboard pump.

    • @ShootingTargets727
      @ShootingTargets727  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, I been reading that they fixed the pump. Another story again not sure is you need to pump it slow not like 60 fast pumps in a row because the heat eats up the pump seals. Again we will see. Stay tuned.
