    I've had my Aspen for 20 months, shooting almost every day. I sent back two because of the pump problem. The pump problems are not yet fixed, as of summer of 2021. The pump must not be worked fast, because of the intense heat produced inside.
    My .22 Aspen has made all my other air rifles obsolete. And I have a few fast shooting, accurate gas piston guns. They sit there now. The Aspen makes it easy to hit a starling at 40 yards. It's fairly quiet. Fast. I don't own a $700 compressor needing maintenance and expense. But the pumps are not reliable.
    I highly recommend one for hunting while the pump o-rings last. I lube it a few drops using the included silicone oil, every only 10 shots and pump it slowly.
    Even the good looking safety is in the right place, which is more than I can say for many others. And it's quiet to move to fire position. The side lever is great. The pump is in need of redesign.

      Thanks for your review. What type of oil do you use and where do you oil it?

    • @senatorjosephmccarthy2720
      @senatorjosephmccarthy2720 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tellin08 , I use the silicone oil supplied with the gun, and I've bought more. After typing the above, I've had 2 more times of the pump failing, so oil just a few drops along the pump tube and in the provided hole every time I refill a magazine- every 10 shots. And now I pump 10 strokes and let the gun sit for 10 minutes for the pump interior to cool.
      Type: YT, Big J's Outdoor and Airguns. See his video on rebuilding the pump. Seems the pump is going to need rebuilding quite often. Seneca guns are quality, but these pumps need a redesign by an aftermarket shop.
      I've changed from a UTG 3 - 9 × 40 to a UTG 6 - 24 × 50 for better seeing at 60 y.

    I got mine early in 2019 . Had pressure lose , that was cured by a drop of lube on each of the two o-rings on pellet probe . Have not had any problems since . No pump poblems (yet , knock on wood) . I do expect it to happen one day . I will not be returning it , I will tear it down and figure it out myself . I am surprised that no one has done a rebuild video yet . I do lube it before each outing , not a crazy amount ; but hitting all the points . Think of it like the old machinery that used cup oilers . Mine is in .22 cal . I really like it ! But honestly could not recommend it .....But I wouldn't give mine up either . One of love , hate relationships I guess .

    • @264fan
      @264fan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OffGridMadMan Yes , there is a commonly reported problem of the pump locking up . The o-ring failing inside the pump . Once the knowledge of rebuilding the pump comes out , should negate the problem if one is inclined to repair the pump yourself . Repair videos are often impeded by the legality of injury . Which brings me to : If someone is willing to make the video but afraid of legal issues . Send me the video and I will repost it under my name . I do really like mine though . @@OffGridMadMan They have fixed the pump issue if you're still interested. But with the price of compressors being $245 on eBay nowadays IDK if it's worth it anymore. The Avenger with a cheap 12v compressor is the way to go IMO especially since it's regulated you get high shot counts with a 177 pellet. Depending on what FPE you're shooting at with the lowest setting you can get well over 60 shots per fill.

    I finally bought this gun...at the range it is very accurate...it about shots before you need to pump it up about 30 pumps to get it in a ready state...for the money you can't do better...all you need is the gun and some pellets or slugs...I had no difficulty with the pump...the scope is just fine! If the SHTF and there are no air tanks or electricity the Aspen will always be ready to shoot.

It very slowly leaked from day one and this is a common observation, Also; I have experienced failure with the pump not presurizing. Also have read the pump locks up. I think its cheep because its a great purchase if you like taking things apart and rebuilding them... The pump.. I have one in the closet right now that wont pump up and I just don't have time to mess with because I'd rather be out there shooting on my free time.

    I recently bought one of these, I had problems with the pump it locked up on me and it wouldn't hold air. I did the alcohol flush for pump airguns, let it alone for one day after that I removed the grub screw for degassing it and flushed the excess isopropyl alcohol, I let it alone another day and it started to pump and hold air I lubricated it with 6 drops of silicone and it has been working great I've had it for 2 weeks and shot it every day.

    It's very important when pumping to pump S-L-O-W-L-Y.... Just like a normal hand pump at PCP pressures, this pump will get very hot very quickly if you're firing a lot of shots and pumping too fast. The first one of these I owned wound up unable to be pumped anymore because I damaged the pumping mechanism from heat by pumping too fast...

      80 pumps from empty to full. Who wants to pump anything 80 times slowly?? Just asking :^)
      I think it was like 30 pumps between clips.. 2 min. shooting targets and 15 min. pumping..?? When I get around to rebuilding mine I'll be replacing o-rings with something used in hydraulics. The key feature of the product is the crappiest.

    Don't tou guys ever oil your onboard pump like the owners manual clearly states as part of its regular routine maintenance. My Aspen is a beast puttin out 58.5 fpe. at the muzzle on the high setting with 30.86 gr. barracudas. That's the magic pellet for my Aspen. I purchased an assortment of grain weight slugs from Nielsen specialty ammo and FYI the Aspen barrel doesn't like slugs at all. Super sluggish. I get nearly 63fps more velocity with a RWS 25gr. hollowpoint pellet but not without sacrificing over 10 fpe. Overall anything lighter than the barracudas down to the 20 gr. Field target pellets, the accuracy was still there but I would use those weights for smaller game while using the barracudas for coyotes under 40 yards. It's an awesome air rifle but I'm still in love with my newest addition with the 357 Airforce Texan.
    And with that gun all I can say is ZZzzzzzwowwwww. Using 148 grain boattail .358 swaged slugs from Nielson specialty ammo, coyotes are easy pickins at 200 yards.

    EVERY COMPANY SHOULD BE MAKING AND OFFERING A SIMILAR LAR TO THE ASPEN SELF CONTAINED BUILT IN PUMP GUN! I want to see some self contained shorter bullpups around 30 to 35 inches total length. Stick it in your 100 liter rucksack for survival and descent midrange accuracy and power. THE COMPANY TO DO IT IN SEMI AUTO AROUND 700 TO 800 FPS WILL SELL OUT!

What I've been wondering is what would be a ballpark for expected fps if our were to put heavier pellets through it then the typical ones you'd use like the H&N Rabbit Magnum? It would potentially be able to get the fpe equivalent of the Aspen in .25.

    Great review by Tyler most informative EXCEPT maintenance of “O” Rings and oil port.
    You guys need to stress the importance and types of oil to use.
    Silicons or Pellet Gun Oil OR what you would recommend.
    This might help those that are having leaking problems or loss of power.
    I have had the Aspen for over two years and just now starting to lose power maybe due to usage and “O”ring wear.
    Otherwise “my “gun has performed as good as any of the 24 Air Rifles I own with the Aspen being my only PCP but looking to improve that and purchase a small Nomad Compressor.
    Thank you for an Informative Video which I would recommend before purchasing!

    • @tylerpatner6591
      @tylerpatner6591 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think you missed the point of the gun man. This is not and never will be a high shot count gun, but the on board pump means you have limitless shots with relatively low effort. So long as you keep the gun in that usable pressure range, you're going to get good consistent shots. I hear you about manufacturers claims. Most manufacturers use an 8-10% range of the high velocity to get their shot count numbers, which leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. But bear in mind, the reason I personally look for sub 25 fps total spreads is because I know any more than that will start to create enough velocity change at 45 yards to impact my grounds. If we were shooting closer than that, the usable velocity spread would increase. So it all depends on your use and your expectations.

      That was the only response I could muster. Even so, I am strongly considering it. I just wish it was in .35 caliber. Making me consider a Seneca Recluse for $300 more. It does Not have a pump, which I do really like, but it's also is what is scaring me away. So many pump problems. Loss of pressure is because people won't oil regularly. But how hard/fast are people pumping these things to break the pump. One woman side she broke six, I'm sorry, I call that user error. U gotta be stupid to break 6 rifles. Anyway, stay safe my friend !!!

    P. A. Has to offer a scope option..........
    I don’t want that cheap scope, and have to buy a different more powerful scope to maximize the use of this rifle.
    My latest information on P.A.
    is that they will not give you credit for that scope towards a better one..........
    and I think that just sucks......... because now I have to wait and see if they eventually will offer an option to upgrade the scope.
    I want this rifle...........
    But I don’t want to pay $400.00up front........ and then have to spend another $100.00 or more on a better more powerful scope.
    Come on Pyramid Air.........
    You are better than this,
    and besides...... you probably will sell more Aspen Seneca rifles if you offered a scope option.
    Peace.
