Agreed. They've clearly taken onboard the critisism levelled at past interiors and acted on it. This is the biggest modernisation of the interior look they've done in a long time.

just their new suv´s get other tail lights, all the sedans, coupes and so on have the refreshed l version :)

Mx Jonson yeah they look a bit off. Doesn't go that well with the rest of the car. Kia Sorento has similar lights on the back. But inside looks lovely. Volvo is amazing when it comes to exterior and interior.

3:28 Sorry Matt, X5 isnt more aerodynamic. You probably meant it has lower drag coefficient (X5 0,31 vs F1 0,32). The aerodynamic drag of a car is this coefficient multiplied by front area of the car, density of air and velocity of the car. X5 have obviously larger front area (like two times imo), so its aerodynamics is ~2times worse. This often confuses people.
Where are the L shaped tail lights? And the front grill looks funny unlike the aggressive previous gen

The rear looks wierd. A bit generic and Korean. The front grille is way too big. It reminds me of a beaver.

That is the most beautiful BMW SUV ever. It's absolutely beautiful
I actually love the look of this new version. I noticed BMW getting a lot of flack for the "big nostrils" but I think the grill works well with the overall design. The rear looks different and not bimmer-like, but I welcome the changes in the rear design as well because quite frankly I had gotten bored with BMWs rear designs. The L shape tail lights had become a bit too much and I could not fathom why every darn BMW rear had to be indented so thank heavens for the changes.
The interior isn't too bad either. It's a sexy vehicle in my opinion. Should've worked harder in my younger years.

Merrittorious I don't think so. Being that the current one, codenamed G30, is on sale since February 2017, we probably won't be seeing a new 5 series for five years or so. I like Matt's work, but this time he was a bit sloppy.

Melvin D depends what you are considering not different: a steering wheel, dials and dash with infotainment screen and vents/controls, middle tunnel gearbox lever, idrive wheel and other buttons are there and in common places. But the local layout, design elements’ forms and materials/parts are all new and very different from g30.

I own the current gen (5 months old) got a 9k discount thanks to carwow, and glad i did as the new one does not look too different which means I don't feel like i am missing out. Addtionally the new front grill is far too big, and the auto stick looks awful.
Otherwise lots of nice modern tweaks. Definitely an evolution upgrade. The interior is a nice modern upgrade although again not much differnt in layout. I would like to get the new model eventually but only if the front grill is tweaked which no doubt it will in its mid life changes.
Kyle Keenan -- the design is more evolutionary, but I think it's technically more revolutionary since it's on a completely different platform architecture.
Yeah, it might look similar, but underneath they are different beasts - take a look at F10 5 series and the newst one. The differences are really big and positive.

I think I saw a bmw x5 on the road a couple of days ago, it had like this wierd black and white wrap wich some cars have in thier final testing, do they? It was in The Netherlands.

Nice front especially the newly designed angular kidney grill. The rear lights obviously made it dull for now to leave a room for future facelift model to look better. Smart.

The current generation looks much better than the 2019 model, taking into consideration that the general design of the car did not change that much, but it's those small changes that makes the car look ugly, such as the new grill and taillights.
The interior seems little bit refreshed (compared to other BMW), but for me BMW's interior designer needs to work little bit harder on their design

Area of Interest the previous generation fronts derived from the 3 Series were hit or miss depending on the vehicle. This one looks much nicer but they shouldn't have dropped the L tailights, they were iconic like the kidney grilles at this point.

Tail lights a re copy paste from a Kia ceed/Huyandai i30/ Ford Fiesta. Shame, preveios L design was ICONIIIC as someone said. Overall great improvement, but the central screen is still too small.

Oh god, this looks worse than the old X5. The front grilles too long down and the back reminds me of a RAV4. This is coming from a 2016 X5 owner.

Seems like just yesterday the last X5 came out, I cant believe the new one is out already. That interior looks spectacular, imagine how the X7 interior is going to look. The user technology must be insane!
Finally they redesigned that gear stick that looked like Falos for so many years. The interior is great and has buttons as well :)

Contrary to popular opinion i prefer analogue dials in the instrument cluster as adding screens everywhere with their blue light emiting led screens will strain the eyes a lot on big journeys .
Mk 8209 it won’t because it’s not bright enough. They consider these things before hand. It’s no different to a normal car with analogue displays
Chatta290 They consider cost more than what displays do to your eyes. Displays are cheaper than analogue instruments. Also, it doesn't matter how bright your screen is, especially if you're driving at night.
Chatta290 no bro i dont think so that these screens have the same impact as analogue dials , these are proper HD displays like our phones and sure to make impact on eyes but i think as this tech is new and cosidered " cool " so people are not bothered to look into this aspect of this tech and as EXARCHUS said cost is one of main primary factors .
Exarchus displays are not cheaper and have you ever been in a modern bmw or driven one with these screens? There is no difference from let’s say a VW golf with the small screen in the middle which displays speed, whether you like it or not all new cars have some sort of screen you look at and it’s not any different if it’s fully digital or not. Try them yourself and you will see, the 7 series one is not very bright and it seems so natural.
Chatta290 screens in the centre console are unavoidable in todays day and age but they have display off function but dials are smthing that we need to see constantly ... I dont know but frankly i dont think that it will not harm eyes .
