Oh Cory Mio Hitler Baxter cut him some slack... Not many people can fully grasp the power of naming your character... It's one of the toughest parts in all of gaming history that takes weeks to master.
Neither can I, coming up with a name is usually the hardest part of the game for most RPGs.

Love how he's trying to avoid outright saying "this game is too hard" cause he knows he'll get called for it.
i think they made the default difficulty in these games harder than the average game so that you can learn and make counters for the bosses and enemies because its a strategy based game. i played P4G and i died to a few bosses. the game being hard isnt a problem, just idiots who dont wanna lose because they have an ego
10 months late, but p4G is when the persona series started getting a bit easier (Example, Yukiko being weak to ice in golden, while in the original she had no weaknesses. though i find playing on hard mode negates the easier bits) but, yes. DSP simply finds this game to hard.

Shadow yukiko has the ice weakness, normal does not.
They added weaknesses for Shadow Kanji's bodyguards, and they removed heat riser from nice guy on golden.

Enjoyable game for DSP: Requirements: must have character start with lvl 99, has all items, every enemy is weak and has one attack that does 2 dmg, true ending is really easy to get, all bosses are like enemies but have 5 more health, final boss is easy. Done!

Argh, you know what, can't even be funny about it.. This was probably worse than most other of his "playthroughs".. the way he completely misses the point of strength and weaknesses unil the end, blames the game for ignoring enemies with reflect even though it right out tells him, is always surprised by enemy advantage even though the enemy clearly struck first...
and the crown-fuckin-jewel.. "People tell me there's a good ending but none of them knows how the fuck to access it, I give you guys a week to figure it out for me!"
That would be a neat detail if you get multiple questions wrong

I hope he doesn't do that waay after the tutorial fight where you're introduced to the concept of different Personas and Persona changing. It's literally the first wandering Shadow fight in Yukiko's castle.
Then again, this dude is a dumbass that can't properly manuever around stages in games, and constantly expects all games, new and old to be super streamlined, current age games. A game like this and a game like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 aren't going to be magically set to have Marvel Spider-Man graphics.

Using magic with Chie and Kanji is like having a wrestler play golf but he does it constantly
I bet a wrestler would have a mean Drive game on golf.
In Golden, Chie gets enough boosts to Ice damage (Ice Amp is one of her Social link skills, iirc) that Bufula is actually a decent option. But yeah, most of the time you wanna be casting Fist (God's Hand) and Meteor Rain (Agneyastra) on people. Especially since she gets a boosted crit rate (Apt Pupil) and Revolution, a skill that boosts EVERYTHING'S crit rate. Yes, even the enemies. I think you can use Dekaja to undo it, though. I *think.*
In Golden she also gets Dragon Hustle, a party-wide heat riser.
She's still a tank in Golden, but she's also muscle wizard.
@@Shadethewolfy Still only Ice Boost, but she _can_ get Bufudyne if you take her on 5 total scooter rides (assuming you talk about the future every time). And I believe you can give her an Ice-boosting Vow accessory to further capitalize on that damage (they go up to 1.5x, the same as Amp passives, but you don't see the strongest ones until the true final dungeon and owned equips don't carry over in NG+ like the should've. -_-).
It's modern Persona; any hit at elemental weakness gives you an extra turn. You want to use spells even the characters are melee oriented.
The only thing that stops you from spamming magic for free turns is the fact you cannot easily recharge MP as you could in P3FES. Preserving mana by balancing normal attacks and HP skills isn't only limited to Chie and Kanji, you're encouraged to save as many powerful attacks as possible in order to deal with mini-bosses in every dungeon.
@@steam-powereddolphin5449 yeah, I really wish owned equipment carried over to NG+ lol. It'd make going after Reaper for the ultimate equips actually worth it. Well, more than it already is, I mean. Since you might want that good shit for the final dungeon(s in Golden)
As awful as this guy's play through was, and believe me it was bad, I will give credit to him for making me aware of this series through this TIHYDP. One of the best.

Apparently Reflect skills are impossible to understand on a conceptual level. And refusing to understand them makes enough of a difference to turn an Easy-mode playthrough into a Very Hard-mode run.

@@V2ULTRAKill not really, no. i wouldn't call the persona games hard, but even on easy you still atleast need to know how the mechanics work.
If I play the game on normal, but with EXP cranked up to cut down on level grinding, is that technically still easy? Since every other parameter aside from EXP is at its default value for Normal mode. So normal damage dealt/taken, restart from the floor entrance if you die, normal money but more EXP given.
I'm on the PC version of the game, btw. Which allows you to adjust the difficulty to how you like mid playthrough.
Me: I'm going to increase EXP values so I don't have to grind as much!
Also me: still ends up grinding anyway because she has a Golden Shadow addiction and all she did by increasing EXP gains was fuel the self-destructive fire that is her grinding addiction >.>
I went into Yukiko's castle at level 5 and came out at level 24.
Kanji's dungeon I left at around level 38.
Rise's dungeon I finished at level *53*.
I may have an EXP addiction.
EDIT: I have an EXP addiction.
Level after Mitsuo's dungeon? 64
Naoto's dungeon I ended at level 74
The final dungeon before THE CHOICE I ended at LEVEL NINETY-FUCKING-SEVEN.

I feel like I'm the only one who is slightly disgusted at DSP's lack of respect for Japanese culture. Oh, I'm sorry if some people in the world prefer to eat dinner in the living room rather then in the dining table.
It's funny cause I, and many people in my family, literally do the same thing. I mean, frankly, as long as the place you're eating is reasonably clean, one place is as good as any other. Who are we, as a culture, to judge where other cultures tend to eat dinner, or how they tend to prefer sitting, or something like that?
As someone that eats on the bed sometimes the Dojima's ways are pretty darn elegant

Perhaps I'm in the minority so I won't make "factual" claims based on anecdotal evidence.
But when something in a videogame doesn't work, function, or does the opposite of what I expected, I ask myself why and look for the reason. I don't assume it's broken or glitched immediately and consider the possibility immediately that I did something wrong. It usually means I missed an instruction, or my timing was off.
Phil seems to think that the coding is an AI who has it out for him. It's a computer code and it responds to basic inputs. If you give the right input it'll give you the correct result every time. Mathematics are consistent like that.
If it's not completely easy and without any kind of opposition, the game is great. If the game challenges you and isn't made to be beaten with your eyes closed, it sucks. Missions in Grand Theft Auto are a prime example of that. He thinks the easy missions are well made, and the harder ones are shit, and he wonders what the developers were thinking.
I would not mind his playthroughs at all if he simply started to own up to his own mistakes, but he CONSISTENTLY blames the game for EVERYTHING.

First time playing Persona 5, during the Shadow Madarame boss fight, I hit one of the eyes with elemental attacks twice before I realized that those heal him. So I figured, "Okay, just use physical attacks, gotcha."
Same with the mouth. Wasted a physical on him once, then realized, "Oh, THIS is the part you hit with elemental attacks. My bad, let's try this again."
It's called trial-and-error, something that Phil doesn't have the patience for.
Unless it's a bethesda game. Those games just do whatever they want.

Yeah I couldn't believe how little damage he was doing! I mean he's playing Beginner/Very Easy, which means you do DOUBLE damage on enemies, and you receiving half damage. Yet he was still struggling. Painful to watch.
When I was playing Golden by the time I got to Heaven I was mid 80's. Dude really needs to know how to grind for exp.

Yo Dojima World Order, I would like to thank you for putting my comment on this video, I never thought my comment would be in the TIHYDP videos, it's like a dream come true lol. On top it all of it's from one of my favorite game. I'm so glad I know everything about this game and decided to comment on one of his videos (with Ad Block of Course).
This genuinely hurt to watch
Watching this in bits and pieces the last few days, I had the impression that DSP was slogging through this game for his fans; these 3 hours of the over 80 hours of gameplay he uploaded really makes it look like he hated the game. But then I found his summary video where he talks about his feelings of the game and he REALLY loved this game, it's just funny to me how you can see how much he struggled even on the beginner difficulty but still really enjoyed the game.
I'm pretty sure DSP is stream of consciousness congealed into a humanoid form.
Doesn't like doing long playthroughs, does an RPG that can take about 80 hours to get through. When playing on easy, it means that you want to enjoy the story without too many problems but when you blantantly restart because you use one of the ten items given, forcing everyone to watch the unskippable cutscene, no thanks. Also, does he have to comment on every f**king thing going on? He wants people to think he's paying attention by reading outloud but just cracking jokes that he's the only one laughing at is kind of sad.
Also, how is it that I'm not playing and I know he didn't get the advantage. Of course, it's not his fault when he will sometimes swing in the opposite direction. I had no problems getting the advantage. Once you've done it once, you know exactly how close you need to get. Also, if they are looking at you when you hit them, there isn't an advantage. But of course, it's not his fault. It's also not his fault that he is playing on easy yet getting destroy because he doesn't scan which allows you to complete battles quickly, even if you get ambushed. I played on hard and that really is something you have to do so that you can do the all out attack. It was also a good way to get through battles and collect the rewards at a good pace. Even though he's on easy, Phil is having trouble even though the enemies hit for much less HP. I know he has a habit of running from fights because that's his way of not having to edit out battles but that also hurts him because even simple fights become difficult because you can only get so far with running from fights. There is also the need to collect the items the enemies drop because when you sell them, they have the chance of creating new items in the store which was different from Persona 3 where you had to wait until after finishing a dungeon to get a new inventory. It's kind of sad when he feels the need to dashboard when he's the one making things difficult. Scanning alone would help so much since the party already will have a fire, ice, and wind user.
+CareeseFangirlForever wait you can scan? How does this work? The farthest I've gotten is the midle of RIse's dungeon by the way. I compulsively restart the game to see if I can do better with what I have learned.
Tnu1138 You hit L1 I believe then pick the enemy if they have a question mark and it takes a turn before the info is given. They tell you moves and elemental weaknesses, except for bosses. Comes in handy if you want to be able to do all out attacks because then you can use that element and if you exploit the weakness, you get those extra turns which can make battles end quickly.

Jesus, 1 hour and 30 minutes in and you'd think he'd be approaching compatance from the other side by now. How, in the balls of Zeus, can he have gotten to mitsuo and not understood anything about the combat mechanics?

In addition to being shit, he also has terrible luck. I don't think I ever got a fusion failure and he manages to get two back to back. Plus I think he's missed more in this playthrough than I have across all my Persona playthroughs
I do not think I have internally screamed so much at a video until I watched this. This is such a perfect shit storm of a playthough that it is beautiful in a way to watch.

+mrguy22494 It actually isn't...it's just said fast enough for the sound to not be as prominent. Yousuke's name is pronounced "Yoh-soo-ke" but like Sasuke, you say it fast as hell so it just sounds like "Ske"
BearnukiGameStation Then explain why the Japanese version of Naruto pronounces Sasuke the same way the English Dub does. The "U" in most Japanese names are silent. Other examples being: Satsuki, Senketsu, Junketsu, Ryunosuke, etc.

If you hear it pronounced in Japanese and listen, you can hear the "u", which as Bearnuki said, is spoken very quickly, almost under their breath. This is likely a phonetic issue as the Japanese have trouble ending syllables and words on consonants. English doesn't have that issue, which leads to a sort of "mispronunciation", but it's the best way to translate.
+BearnukiGameStation The more relevant problem with Phil constantly over-stressing the "U" in Yosuke is that all the voice actors in P4 correctly pronounce it "Yo-skay" with the nearly silent "U" and Phil gets it wrong continuously for an entire many hour playthrough. Maybe if he'd shut the hell up and pay attention to the story (and literally everything else) he might might come off not looking like the fool he is.

@Hope Bagel why so offended? And yes he does. He'll enter a state where all he does kill rush or hysterical slap. He'll only do rampage if you break whatever pattern you were doing. That's the random part. I put over 3k hours into the original persona 4 and I've fought contrarian king at least 40 times. I know what I'm talking about.
@Hope Bagel not in my experience. I do agree with rng for rampage somewhat. But I've been in dozens of situations where I can back and forth with that boss for hours but if i change a single thing about my pattern his pattern changes into rampage

Yes I'm fully claiming that I've done that and found that pattern. Like I've said, In my experience it is rng as to HOW it happens but he WILL enter a state where he won't do rampage unless the pattern of back and forth (whatever it may be) between you and him is broken. Just so you guys know he is NOT a children’s entertainer, his comedy is high brow and very sophisticated.
I recently finished this game for the first time. Game was pretty easy for the most part minus some early game bosses. All you gotta do is just make sure to keep upgrading your party and weapons and you’ll be golden!
Well. The preemptive attack system in Persona is very difficult to get a hang of. Specially since every time you switch weapons you get different attack speeds, which can be confusing when upgrading your equipment.
But, once you get a hang of the timing, hitting them is pretty easy, and surprising them while still a challenge, is also doable.
But of course, this is DSP we are talking about. He rather just bash at the game and call it garbage instead of trying to learn. It must be very sad to live in a world where everything needs to be made for your level of skill else you aren't able to do anything else but complain.
