To give some clarification, it's a tool called an "Evoker" which is a fake gun that they fire at their head to trigger a persona since they can only trigger theirs through a strong feeling (either that or they replicate the act of death)

Update: add the Mana Beast as well from the Secret of Mana remake. He didn't have any MP or Faerie Walnuts so he couldn't use Mana Magic which is the only thing that hurts the boss. Since the autosave was right before the boss and his last manual save was an hour previous (though he says 2 hours in his excuse because he thinks we can't see his gametime or video length) as justification that it's a waste of time to try again and the game is poorly made because it's not his fault he never leveled his magic up making the previous boss drain all his resources.
To be fair tge first phase of Ludwigs fight is fucking obnoxious and rage inducing...second phase is pretty awesome though.

It's a 100 hours game, he either rage quit again, or put it on hold, or take a lot of breaks due to not having a lot of views and comes back to it being clueless and blame the game for his mistake, or he rushes it like any other games he played. It doesn't matter it's still suck that he will play this, I'm going to buy it and enjoy my time with it and after I beat it I will watch his playthrough to see if he fucks it up, he probably play it on Safety mode though.
tfla11 Yes. It was said that you can't even die on Safety. I'll be picking up my copy a little later and playing it on Hard as now I've found myself enjoy certain games like Kingdom Hearts and Persona on Hard. It'll be a pain in the ass but at least it's finally freaking here. Phil will still manage to screw up a bunch because as you said, he'll rush, rush, rush, and then struggle at the boss fight because he's not familiar enough with the game or gotten the right skills that would make the boss easier. Overall, he shouldn't be playing RPGs periods because he can't invest real time and I mean get really involved in the games narrative or gameplay because it's all just a job to him. He didn't experience the turmoil Persona fans did when this game kept getting delayed or follow all the articles. Persona 5 has the advantages of being released in Japan first and we've seen the glowing reviews. Phil only cares about views and money.

The very final comment featured is right, Aigis was the true antagonist in this game as far as Phil is concerned. But for the rest of us, she was a hero who went above and beyond the call of duty.
He didn't even place a charm block item on his healers. He clearly doesn't know what he is doing, if you go fight Nyx you put charm blocks in anyone that can heal.

I once double booked, thinking that it would only slow down the link for the guy I canceled out on. At the time, I did not know that double booking would reverse the link. (It was my first persona game and I was playing through blind.)
Which is why he should play normal SMT, but holy shit he would rage so hard it would be glorious.
I'm surprised one person can reverse that many links. You have to be a special kind of disorganized to reject Yukari's date over the holiday and then complain the next week when her link is flipped.

I love how Phil always talks badly about a developer but when AtlusUSA got his ass, he got his panties in a bunch and made half ass threats like he so well known that he could just get that guy fired with one phone call but is just too tired. Yeah, that's why he never fought those copyright claims either even though he probably thought that he did nothing wrong. Whoever that person was that made that comment is my hero :D
For those of you who aren't familiar with the game, the reason he misses attacks so often is twofold.
1. He is ABSOLUTELY under-leveled EVERY step of the way through the game. The game actually takes your levels/stats pretty seriously with the dodge mechanic, so if you aren't up to snuff, you actually will miss more often. If there's a big enough difference, then the attacker will be completely unable to land a hit. For either side.
2. He also has a bad habit of letting his characters get "tired". If they're in the dungeon too long, or they're just having a bad day beforehand, they'll have that status and it drastically lowers all of their stats, causing them to miss even MORE.
tl;dr They miss because he's an idiot who doesn't engage with the game.
Plus really low agility effects hit rates
Irrelevant but megaten games would really benefit from showing hitrates and damage range values. It would only add to the strategy. I mean they already do that for hama/mudo.
For people who think it makes it easier, fire emblem games are way harder than any megaten game and do it, it’s just good game design.
I agree but ngl I dont like the "being tired" feature its annoying that you sometimes just have to stop grinding because your characters got tired.But I guess its just another part of this really good game that you just gotta get used to so its basically still his own fault and not the games
Don't know if this would count as a 3rd reason because you touched on levels and stats for why DSP is missing attacks but I'd also add the fact that it seems like he's not using the accuracy/evasion buff and debuff. I say "seem" because I'm too lazy to watch the full DSP playthrough to count how much he is using buffs/debuffs. Megaten and by extension, Persona are notorious for how much of a game changer buffs and debuffs can be for battles. But yeah, there's some fights where the gimmick is that you need to get those accuaracy/evasion buffs and debuffs up and those buffs and debuffs can help in basic fights too.

I'm only like a quarter through but his singing is already grating and you can tell he doesn't process the fact that it takes time for a sword swing to reach a shadow

Also, he's missing so many attacks because his party is fatigued. But of course, Phil ignored the instructions for how the dungeon exploration in this game works. What makes this even better is that the game makes it a point to tell you when certain party members become fatigued yet Phil doesn't pay attention to any of it or even try and connect the dots.
I play a lot fatigued on fucking Hard and I don't miss that many atacks just how awful is DSP playing....!????

Bruh you're insane. I was level 75 and took me 8 fucking tries only because Night Queen kept putting Fear on my character after Moonlight gown.
And since I would have everyone wait, I would get crit and robbed of two turns, only to die in the next one because nobody could heal me :(
@@keeysOST - Legit, all you need to do is keep your buffs up and have an ample supply of items to bail you out of bad spot.
Team composition also plays a big role. They either have to be hard hitters or good at support. Having Ken, Junpei, Mitsiru, or the dog in that fight is like asking to have an albatross weighing you down.
I'll also say that issuing "Wait" commands in that fight is asking to be steamrolled when you have party members with good support. Yukari can make sure the party's at 100%. Aegis can cast party buffs. Akihiko can cast debuffs. The MC can top of anyone's MP. You're up against a boss that takes two turns at a time. You have to be as efficient as possible.

It's okay to suck at a game, I'm pretty shit at Persona (still love it) but the thing that makes me hate Phil is how he never accepts responsibility for sucking.
It's not the games fault he's bad at it. When I get stomped its because I'm shit, I couldn't fuse a lot of personas because I ignored a lot of quests. These are mistakes Phil made too, but the difference is I, and most people can look at that and go "ah yeah, I probably could've done that better, oh well, my bad" but Phil just calls it "bad game design" which has become his code word for "the game didn't literally hold my hand and force me through every action so its too hard"

I like the fusion system, man. Fusing Izanagi-no-Okami took me about as long as Phil spent bumbling around at the 2 hour mark but it was worth.
Shuffling fusion results to get the exact four skills you want. Good times. One of the few games I racked up a 200+ hour count on, but that's also because I fell asleep playing it too many times.

a) defending nyx avatar: yes i know the boss is long. yes i know charm is annoying but to my knowladge there are items that make you resistant to it. so just find those and try again. boom problem solved. also there are stat heal items you can probably buy the day before to be ready for any form of shit comming. granted i only beat it in p3p but still i beat the boss.
