    I absolutely love the 13-14 Mustang styling! But with the 13-14 GT being so close in price to the 15-17 GT, and me having the benefit of not being allergic to the 3.7 V6 like some people are, I would rather spent $13k on a 13-14 3.7 V6 as a training car to get used to driving a higher horsepower rear wheel drive manual car after only having ever driven sub-150 horsepower front wheel drive automatic cars before. Then in addition to that, getting an S550 Coyote later on in life once I'm more confident with driving a car like that. Other than the 13-14s just being the specific car you want, i.e. that car is special to you and you have personal reasons for wanting to buy a 13-14 coyote specifically, it just doesn't make much sense to get a first gen 5.0 when second gens are so close in price to it, and the V6s are so much cheaper imo. But ofc if that is really the only car for you, then it's what you've gotta have and that's fine. If the 10k sticker cost and 3k per year extra are worth the higher horsepower and better exhaust note to you, then that's what you gotta do for the car you love!

    • @SVTEvan
      @SVTEvan  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      3.7 is a great engine. S550’s are probably a better value but I think 13/14 is peak in terms of styling. As you said, all a personal preference. I have no intentions of the 5.0 ever making north of 650whp, so the gen 1 is sufficient for my power needs.

    Yes, I’ve driven every modern Coyote car for a good amount of miles and the Gen 1 feels the most “Mustang” and I have the most fun.

      Then drive a special one like a Mach 1 HP. It's not even a quarter of the car. GT350 Tremec, 350R suspension and wheel/tire spec on Sport Cup 2s and Magneride...it'll out grip and out perform a lot of modern supercars on a race track/twisty road.

    • @SVTEvan
      @SVTEvan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ShadowAdministrator for handling, absolutely the Mach 1 or gt350 are better. Two completely different cars with different purposes. They just both share the Mustang name. I prefer more straight line fun rather than road course/twisty roads. But there’s nothing wrong with either way.

    • @169abr
      @169abr 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ShadowAdministrator yea, the HP Mach’s are a great track car and the GT350R is my all time best Mustang, BUT the S550 feels almost foreign as compared to a Gen 1, Fox, or even a New Edge and most people say it doesn’t feel “Mustang” that being said I’d pick an S550 as a daily being that I have one and the creature comforts are very nice to have.

    • @ShadowAdministrator
      @ShadowAdministrator 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SVTEvanSolid axle is better for drag racing but Steeda makes a stop the hop kit for the IRS. I prefer as much grip for twisty stuff. Not trying to sound like an asshole hater, but I only started buying Mustangs because of the focus on handling in 2015.

    I have a '14 Black GT Convertible Premium with the Navigation and Brembo Brake packages with just under 32,000 miles on it. I bought it used in July 2015 with ~6,400 miles on it. I bought it in Michigan from a large dealership and it was actually a Canadian car bought in Canada at a Hertz auction. Still with full dealer warranty I got it at a steal of just over $32,000. I couldn't believe it when I could find nothing negative in the car's history. Since and soon after I started modding it. JPL Cold air and SVT tune at a Mustang performance shop, followed by BBK LTH, X-pipe with high flow cats, and Vari-Tune mufflers (love them). Ebach Sport lowering springs, some nice chromed beefier LCAs and adjustable pan hard bar. Rouch chin splitter and blacked out side markers. I run 285x40x19 NITTOs on the rear/245s on the front. Never on salt or snow, summer driver only. Plus, I'm a 72 old man that I would consider a "spirited driver" but I don't beat my cars with repeated burn outs and never drifted it. Any offers? 🤔🙂

    I'm at the point where I just want to get one of my dream cars so I can play with it haha for a mustang I have been dead set on a 13 or 14 but due to the lack of options available unless I want to drop 30k (CAD) or more I have been contemplating maybe going with an 18 or 19. If I'm gonna spend close to the same amount of money then might aswell just go with the more modern and in general better performing sports car that is more likely to not be completely miled up and also unless I'm just not looking in the right places it's either very expensive or impossible to find gen 1 coyote crate motors to replace a potentially blown up/high mileage motor. Kind of the dilemma I'm in for the time being until I'm actually ready to make that purchase

      The newer S550’s are great cars. They just don’t have the same retro styling and “raw” driving experience as the S197. Although they’re certainly more refined and better in almost every aspect. I think the 13-14 is only going to go up in value over time.

    I did! Love it, mostly. My complaints all center on it being too new for my liking, but that's true of everything from the mid 90s to 2000 or so forward. That modern crap really gets on my nerves.
    I miss my Fox's simplicity, but the S197 handles so much better, is so much quicker, is so much quieter, and is so much safer... It's a better choice as a daily driver.
    I bought a stated value classic car insurance policy on the Fox body that requires me to have another daily driver, which is the only reason I stopped DDing the Fox. It still runs perfectly (on the original non-rebuilt 302) and is reliable. It's much slower than the S197, but not a "dog" by any means.

    These are great buys.. Especially if you can get a 1 owner, garage kept one with low miles.. If I was going to build a straight line drag car, I would definitely go for an S197 for sure.. But if you want something a little smoother with better handling for a weekend car, go for an S550.. They are down in pricing to now.. The gen 2's are the ones you really want but you can find Gen 3 s550's right now for 25K with decent miles.. But seriously look for the 1 owner GT, Don't buy the one that has had 3/4 different owners.. Thats 3 to 4 different people beating the shyt out of it before you even get your hands on it.. • @iloveoreos777
      @iloveoreos777 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      car don’t become unreliable because of mileage cars become unreliable when you don’t drive or maintain them.

    • @SVTEvan
      @SVTEvan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The coyote platform in general is very reliable. I wouldn’t let mileage scare you as maintenance is a bigger factor in overall longevity/reliability. Replacement parts are a dime a dozen, so even if something does go wrong, it won’t cost a fortune.
      If you’re specifically looking for a 13-14 like I was, they’re now 10+ years old. So the average mileage per year is 10-15k. So anything under 100k is technically “low mileage”. I’d say anything 75k miles and less is a relatively safe bet.
      You can always do a PPI (pre purchase inspection) to ensure you’re getting a solid vehicle.

I mean, the 5.0 is just a borred and stroked out 4.6 with extra valves, cams and VCT. Much more to play with. Auto. Shifts faster than manual, the 6R80 is very reliable and tunable. My previous tow Mustangs were manuals ('65 289 with 4 spd, and '03 GT with 5 spd). My '14 GT with the 6 spd auto and tuned is fast and snappy and will chirp the tires going from 2nd to 3rd. There many reports and videos covering this. In the past the manuals would allow for faster times and shift speeds, but not now. Too bad the '14 didn't come with paddle shifters.
