I'm at the point where I just want to get one of my dream cars so I can play with it haha for a mustang I have been dead set on a 13 or 14 but due to the lack of options available unless I want to drop 30k (CAD) or more I have been contemplating maybe going with an 18 or 19. If I'm gonna spend close to the same amount of money then might aswell just go with the more modern and in general better performing sports car that is more likely to not be completely miled up and also unless I'm just not looking in the right places it's either very expensive or impossible to find gen 1 coyote crate motors to replace a potentially blown up/high mileage motor. Kind of the dilemma I'm in for the time being until I'm actually ready to make that purchase
The newer S550’s are great cars. They just don’t have the same retro styling and “raw” driving experience as the S197. Although they’re certainly more refined and better in almost every aspect. I think the 13-14 is only going to go up in value over time.

So you said you got yours in the 70k mile range. I’m looking at a few with like 50 or 60k miles on them. At what point will you say these cars stop being reliable? I don’t want to get myself into a mechanic nightmare
The coyote platform in general is very reliable. I wouldn’t let mileage scare you as maintenance is a bigger factor in overall longevity/reliability. Replacement parts are a dime a dozen, so even if something does go wrong, it won’t cost a fortune. If you’re specifically looking for a 13-14 like I was, they’re now 10+ years old. So the average mileage per year is 10-15k. So anything under 100k is technically “low mileage”. I’d say anything 75k miles and less is a relatively safe bet. You can always do a PPI (pre purchase inspection) to ensure you’re getting a solid vehicle.
Me personally im not a fan of the 5.0 raspy exhaust note but something about the gen3 5.0 sound a whole lot better, after i have a lil fun with my 3v definitely going with a 5th gen camaro ss as it still remains that muscle car exhaust note
All depends on the exhaust setup. If you got catless, it gets downright disgusting. Resonator delete + roush is the perfect level of volume and tone. My flowmaster outlaws were less raspy but way more drone.
I disagree I think gen 1 sound better than gen 3 but the old mod motors sound better than both. Also coyotes sound better in pre 2005 mustangs for whatever reason must be the exhaust routing.
I have a '14 Black GT Convertible Premium with the Navigation and Brembo Brake packages with just under 32,000 miles on it. I bought it used in July 2015 with ~6,400 miles on it. I couldn't believe it when I could find nothing negative in the car's history. Since and soon after I started modding it. @@SVTEvan I'm definitely biased! there's just nothing like the feeling of ripping a straight axle car that's fighting for traction and looking for a crowd to dash into😅
I did! Love it, mostly. My complaints all center on it being too new for my liking, but that's true of everything from the mid 90s to 2000 or so forward. That modern crap really gets on my nerves. I miss my Fox's simplicity, but the S197 handles so much better, is so much quicker, is so much quieter, and is so much safer... It's a better choice as a daily driver. I bought a stated value classic car insurance policy on the Fox body that requires me to have another daily driver, which is the only reason I stopped DDing the Fox. It still runs perfectly (on the original non-rebuilt 302) and is reliable. It's much slower than the S197, but not a "dog" by any means.
Absolutely I believe these cars are worth having. I'm currently driving a 98 Cobra which I like but have thought about selling it and getting a 13-14 Mustang GT. I'd like to have one in Grabber Blue if I could find one.
That’s a decent deal. 11-12 go for less than 13-14’s, but for the mileage, I’d personally want be ok with 20k as long as it was the color and options I wanted.
i wish they had a coyote in the 05-09 body. i prefer the 05-09 body. 2011/2012 mustang gt with manual trans pop up for around 15k around me with pretty low miles.
@@SVTEvan that's what I thought. But man. I just can't get over the 09 body. It's so good. But yeah. I've found multiple 75k mile 11-12 GT with manuals trans for 15k. I don't have 15k cash so I haven't tried to buy one yet. But even if I did idk if I would take one of them over an 09. Such a hard decision
Im looking at one at the dealer i work at, but it has 127,000 miles but okenty if service history new tires brakes radiator serviced diff serviced is 12k to much?
sold my 2014 GT with 102k, grabber blue premium with a 6spd, all stock besides lowered with some beat up fr500 wheels, car in mid shape... i sold it for $15,000 privately.. if that car your looking at is all stock never been modified its worth it, if its all fixed i'd turn else where
The 03-04 cobra is definitely not the most versatile. The coyote platform is better in just about every way. And that’s coming from someone who owns both an 03 cobra and 14 5.0.
The Cobra is not King. Like what SCTEvan said 5.0 Coyotes beat the older SVT platform in every single aspect, especially on how they handle boost. I mean, the 5.0 is just a borred and stroked out 4.6 with extra valves, cams and VCT. Much more to play with. Plus, the 13-14 looks way better, I know that is just bias, but it actually looks like a Mustang.
Anyone who thinks the 13-14 mustangs look good is clearly blind. The 03-04 cobras are the only mustang a none Ford guy would ever consider owning. NUFF SAID!
No squeaks. The chassis is very rigid. The ride is a little soft (I like it very firm), but if you are asking about the ride and not the handling, it sounds like that's what you are looking for.
Auto. Shifts faster than manual, the 6R80 is very reliable and tunable. My previous tow Mustangs were manuals ('65 289 with 4 spd, and '03 GT with 5 spd). My '14 GT with the 6 spd auto and tuned is fast and snappy and will chirp the tires going from 2nd to 3rd. There many reports and videos covering this. In the past the manuals would allow for faster times and shift speeds, but not now. Too bad the '14 didn't come with paddle shifters.
Coming from someone who has the 10r80 in my 19 gt, I usually would say get the manual but the mt-82 are horrible transmissions, I should know I had one, the scat pack i had uses the tremec 6spd way better transmission by miles over the mt-82
hell yeah you should, just off the looks alone i have NO plans on selling my 2014 drop point-o, especially since i picked up mine for $27,000 with only 7000 miles on it back in 2018
I have a 2024 HPP ecoboost and I love the body lines along with the other bells and whistles, but the 11-14's just have that original Mustang look that everyone knows.
These can be reliable if serviced but because it's a bigger engine and it requires more maintenance a lot of people don't and in addition they beat on them which causes rod bearings to blow. Be careful with these, Ford guys will always be telling you they're reliable even though they're not lol. The 3.7 is a little bit better but not by much. For least amount of problems Gen 2.
I had to go the route of auto for my 2012 gt cause it was the only one with 36k miles - also being in Atlanta makes stick shift hell, coupled with nerve damage in left leg😒

I’m jealous of your mileage. I’m sure it’s like brand new! Sounds like you’ll keep that one forever. Appreciate the sub and kind words 🙌🏻
@SVTEvan I definitely plan on keeping it. It's my summer only, old man cars and coffee mobile. 😄
18k miles is craaaaaazzzyyy
@@grid426 right on man 💪🏻
The answer is always YES my friends!!
I would have to agree! Although I’m slightly biased ;)
@@SVTEvan I'm definitely biased! there's just nothing like the feeling of ripping a straight axle car that's fighting for traction and looking for a crowd to dash into😅
Why it’s not a stick shift
Because the 6r80 is superior to the mt82. If I want to drive stick, I’ll drive my 2003 cobra.
MT82 is clunky and noisy. Imo having both stick and auto Mustangs I prefer the auto.
Great video!
Thank you!
The rearend looks like a BBL
Absolutely I believe these cars are worth having. I'm currently driving a 98 Cobra which I like but have thought about selling it and getting a 13-14 Mustang GT. I'd like to have one in Grabber Blue if I could find one.
If you can get one, do it. I think these will continue to go up in price.
Im planning to buy a gt 2012 for 20k with 38k mileage is it worth the bag
That’s a decent deal. 11-12 go for less than 13-14’s, but for the mileage, I’d personally want be ok with 20k as long as it was the color and options I wanted.
I've got a 14 gt premium with 13500 on the clock I'd be willing to part with if the money is right..
Could you contact me im in the market for a 13-14
i wish they had a coyote in the 05-09 body. i prefer the 05-09 body. 2011/2012 mustang gt with manual trans pop up for around 15k around me with pretty low miles.
The end goal for me is to swap a coyote into my 05 4.0. If you can get into a 11-12 with low miles for 15k, I’d jump on that deal.
If you're doing a coyote swap go for the gen 3,2,1 set up. Just Google it and you'll understand.
Buy an early s197 and coyote swap it.
You can even find one already swapped for likely less than most 11 up coyotes
Im looking at one at the dealer i work at, but it has 127,000 miles but okenty if service history new tires brakes radiator serviced diff serviced is 12k to much?
Hell nah 12k for 127k miles is insane dog, look else where.
sold my 2014 GT with 102k, grabber blue premium with a 6spd, all stock besides lowered with some beat up fr500 wheels, car in mid shape... i sold it for $15,000 privately.. if that car your looking at is all stock never been modified its worth it, if its all fixed i'd turn else where
@@stacks3892 That is about what I paid for mine with the same mileage.
my take on the looks:
05-09: boxer
10-12: pitbull
13-14: bullmastiff
Good analogy!
Also video was nice also and what kind of camera
Thanks! Used my iPhone 13 Pro Max for this video :)
@@SVTEvanI’m in Elk Grove CA
@@SVTEvanI don’t have enough at the moment but am trying to sell my 08 v6 convertible mustang that’ll be a big chunk towards a new one
They just high in price I want one but 15k for a 2013 I just don’t see it, I been thinking 2012 Camaro SS with the ls3 can find these around 10-12k
13-14 are more desirable than 11-12’s. Won’t find many under 15k that aren’t beat up and junk.
I paid 15000 for my 2012 Kona blue premium package it had 122000 miles and it was amazingly maintained. Extremely well taken care of and very solid.

The 03-04 cobra is king of the mustangs it’s the best looking best sounding and most versatile. Also it was named by the streets 🤷♂️
King Mustang is either Boss 429, or any SvT Cobra R version
Anyone who thinks the 13-14 mustangs look good is clearly blind. The 03-04 cobras are the only mustang a none Ford guy would ever consider owning. NUFF SAID!
It was named by John colleti lol.
How bad do these ride and is the interior squeaky?
not bad at all actually, my 14 premium didnt have any outside noise until i put an exhast in it
No squeaks. The chassis is very rigid. The ride is a little soft (I like it very firm), but if you are asking about the ride and not the handling, it sounds like that's what you are looking for.
Yes.
Auto or manual for a 2014 is the real question?
I prefer the 6r80 personally, but many will say the same about the mt82. Just depends on your driving preference.
The MT82 (manual) is not the best in these lol. Really wish Ford went with the TR6060
Coming from someone who has the 10r80 in my 19 gt, I usually would say get the manual but the mt-82 are horrible transmissions, I should know I had one, the scat pack i had uses the tremec 6spd way better transmission by miles over the mt-82
Plz stop buying so I can get one 😁😁
lol I won’t be buying more cars anytime soon
Prices aren’t going up 😂 buyers market right now 😎
This video was posted nearly a year ago so it was accurate then. The 13/14’s are still holding their value very well.
I’ll be a suscriber as long as you keep that terminator 😅
Don’t worry, I still have it :)
Ill save you 10:45. YES!
👍🏻
9:23 😂
😂
hell yeah you should, just off the looks alone
i have NO plans on selling my 2014 drop point-o, especially since i picked up mine for $27,000 with only 7000 miles on it back in 2018
🤝
Yes
They’re low in price, probably plateauing around 12k for higher mileage 😁
YES
I have a 2024 HPP ecoboost and I love the body lines along with the other bells and whistles, but the 11-14's just have that original Mustang look that everyone knows.
Agreed! How do you like the HPP ecoboost?
@@SVTEvan it’s a lot of fun and has plenty of power for around town/highway use.
Are these 5.0s reliable
Incredibly reliable
These can be reliable if serviced but because it's a bigger engine and it requires more maintenance a lot of people don't and in addition they beat on them which causes rod bearings to blow. Be careful with these, Ford guys will always be telling you they're reliable even though they're not lol. The 3.7 is a little bit better but not by much. For least amount of problems Gen 2.
If you change the oil they are
@@fancynin12 My old man has over 100k miles on his 2011 GTCS 5.0. He abuses it and it still goes. My 2013 5.0 with 42k miles still runs fine. lol
It’s just a bored and stroked taxi motor with 4v dohc heads also just check the f150 has same motor
After having my 10 v6 I for sure want a 12-13 gt

Dude with all do respect why did you get a Mustang GT with an automatic
Because the mt82 is trash and I prefer an automatic? If I want to drive manual, I’ll drive my 2003 cobra.
I had to go the route of auto for my 2012 gt cause it was the only one with 36k miles - also being in Atlanta makes stick shift hell, coupled with nerve damage in left leg😒
MT82's is dog s***
