      Sweet truck man!
      Seems like everybody does the .50 cal bullet antenna (I got it too).
      I went mostly AFE with my truck.
      1. AFE- Throttle body spacer
      2. AFE- Cold air intake
      3. AFE- Y pipes w/o cats
      4. AFE- Atlas 4" exhaust
      &
      5. Turbosmart- Blow off valve
      I'm looking to getting an oil catch can, ugraded intercooler, and tune the truck.
      It's already a different beast compared to stock but I want this truck to be at its best.
      Let me know about any other upgrades you do.

    My Omega flex tune on my 2018 5.0 makes the truck shift nice, not too aggressive and better than stock which seemed to often not know what gear it was supposed to be in. Now if I put it in SPORT mode, then the shifting gets very firm and abrupt as you state, but in regular mode it's a nicer daily driver. All depends on your tuner..they can adjust it however you want it to be.

      My 2020 F150 came with 20's, and it's the one thing about the truck that I definitely don't care for. Can't wait to downsize to 17s with 285/r17 tires. I know larger wheels are kind of thing these days, but when it comes to trucks, less wheel and more tire is definitely my preference.

    What some people fail to realize...decreasing line pressures and letting the gears slip with the tolerance allowed by ford and most manufacturers to make transmissions "shift smoothly" is why transmissions dont last long anymore.
    If anything...a performance tune that makes the line pressures increase and the trans gears lock in more aggressive...all of that is actually helping to increase the life of the transmission.

    Good points, but with many new tuners you can simply reflash back to a stock tune before bringing the truck in for a recall at the dealership etc... So it doesn't necessarily void your warranty, you just can't go to the dealer with the tuner/tune installed lol

    • @KickinItWithQ

      Eliminator Performance hey man Precitae you watching yes true, but the ecu will or can show that there was changes made if Ford really wants to look into it. If you get your work done through the Ford Performance Center at a dealership or an accepted shop it will not void your warranty. I was a Salesman at a Ford dealership for a while and we did this all the time for customers. We had one guy pick up a 5.0 F150 and get a full Roush stage 3 set up installed by our Performance Center. That truck was making close to 900 horsepower and the transmission couldn't handle it, so when it gave up on him a month later it was completely taken care of for him. Obviously if you go to your tuning shop down the street from your house they probably will not be Ford certified to do that work so you are correct on that.

    When talking fuel mileage, I would imagine the lift & tires make a difference. Mine is stock/OEM, and I'm between 17 - 18 on my '16 Ecoboost. Love the look of the lift, but will stay with my 20" OEM Sport rims & BFG KO tires. Wouldn't mind a tuner (nothing wicked) for some more HP, but mainly to give me even better fuel mileage on 87 gas. I drive my truck for fuel mileage, and was a solid 23 on a road trip over the summer that I was on, so...pleased with that. My truck has the option with the 36 gallon fuel tank, so here in Canada...I was at the 3/4 full mark, and it took $75.00 to top it off. I'm now at 137K miles, and it's running just great! Only parts needed since new, was an exhaust manifold, back when it was still on warranty! I take very good care of the truck, sticking to the maintenance schedule, using full synthetic oil, changes at 5K, and a recent transmission fluid change. Loving the truck, and just realized....I have CarPlay! That's kind of cool, after seeing a video on the options available with specific packages these trucks came with!

    Get in good with your dealer. It doesn’t matter if it’s tuned or not. It’s up to the dealer if they except to do the warranty work. All manufactures ask for on major “warranty claims”. Is pictures of the damage and info on vehicle. It’s up to the dealer to tell the manufacture if it’s been tuned or not. A dealership can re flash your ecu. They can work around almost anything the manufacturer wants to know via phone or email.

    I would have to disagree, depending on the tune you use. Mercedes lost this battle in 2009 when they tried that and ending up paying. Where I agree is that tuning an Eco-boost is problematic due to the cam sensors and the direct-inject pre-fire issues they have. Get the Coyote, at 200k your bottom end will be bulletproof whereas the Eco will need a total new rotating assembly.

    Nice truck Q, just bought a sct bdx tuner for my 2014 f150 Ecoboost 3.5. bought the truck used with a 4 year warranty. Having second thoughts about installing it. • @KickinItWithQ
      @KickinItWithQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      miketr732 it depends. If ford can prove the tuned caused the issue then it will void warranty. Now if you AC stops working or window won’t roll down that you should be covered. Tune shouldn’t impact that. Most warranties only cover powertrain components so you have to see what yours covers. If transmission goes and they can prove the tune caused it then you probably out of luck.

    I tuned my F-150 6 months after purchasing it, it has the 2.7 ecoboost engine.
    No regrets from me. I used an SCT X4 tuner. My first tune was from Unleashed tuning, a 93 octane performance tune. Nothing bad to say about it but I got tired of spending so much money on the high octane gas.
    I've been discovered an auto octane tune from Gearhead tuning. The tune adjust according to the octane of the fuel that's in the tank.
    As far as all out power, yes the Unleashed 93 octane tune is better. But for overall drivability I prefer the Gearhead tune.

  • @kl90210
    @kl90210 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    FYI- if your shifts are abrupt with the tune, you did not get a good tune. there is plenty of logic in the tuning parameters of TCU to moderate shift firmness based on engine load. most tuner shops do not know how to properly tune the TCU with the ECU. I have no problems with shift abruptness during normal driving and with high performance tune. Additionally, if you are not putting your foot in the the throttle and in normal drive mode, normal driving, your performance tune should not be using any more fuel than a stock tune. learn a bit about EFI tuning and tuning maps, and you will understand why. this is not the golden old days of carb vehicles and linear fuel delivery. BTW nice looking F150.

    This is a great video and I was able to catch this video before I made my decision. This video made me go to the shop that was going to perform my tune and have a long conversation with them at which point I did decide to go with the tune but it was not an aggressive tune that would stress the transmission and the torque and everything about my truck that I didn't want to press. The nice thing about tuning your truck is you can level out areas of your engine that the factory doesn't have correct when the truck leaves the assembly line and you lift it and slap big'o'tires on it...such as top end fuel richness, throttle response etc. What I wouldn't go to AZ was advised by a pro shop was buying out-of-the-box tuner and plug and play a tune. With Plug and Play Tunes you are doing things to areas of your engine and transmission and environment that you may not necessarily need to do based on your driving condition. That can also ultimately shorten the life of various parts of your truck. But a professional tune can cost just as much as a plug and play with a little bit of labor on top and you're going to have someone who's seasoned make sure that per your driving condition you have a nicely running truck that shifts well and not rough. This is just a great video thank you very much

    Yeah bro, I’m agree with you 100% . I bought Twice F-150, first one I bought 2015 XL Sport Package two door with 6,5 bed, 2.7 L, flexible fuel 2X2 wheels drive that trick is powerful but I never did anything to it, is all original from the factory the way it’s. However I just traded three weeks ago with 2019 F-150 XLT FX4 off-road super crew shorted bed 5,5 but got nicer and bigger rim and matched the color of the truck, pretty nice looking truck. Did I thinking in future to lift or upgrade anything to it such a performance? The answer is no, this truck is fast and powerful and quite, beside as you said, you’re absolutely right about factory warranty and who knows what’s going wrong might happen after you messed around with it. Yeah like yours is pretty damn good looking truck with lift on it, and big tires, but I heard such rubbing and road notice came from the tires is something I worried about, the tire is fat and big enough from Michelin, I’m happy with it. Thanks for the advice bro!

    Something you probably don’t think about is your brake fluid has most likely deteriorated and does not perform nearly as well as new. That’s why any performance vehicle’s brakes have a 1 yr fluid flush usually across the board on that one. Just like 10k on an engine oil service, cant expect that oil to hold up like new would.

    Doesnt exactly void warranty, i spoke with my dealer today, they said as long as it plugs into the obd2 port and can be unpluged it does not void warranty. Only way it voids warranty is if its hard wired to the vehicle. Like hp tuners rtd over writes the ecu. As sct livewire can be unplugged and returned to stock tune on the fly.

    Q - a good tuner will stand behind their work with a warranty.
    Whipple even offers a 3 year/ 60,000 mile power train warranty, that is good at any ASE shop, so now you’re not stuck with the parts swappers that pass as mechanics at the Ford dealer.
    Also, for brakes, I put the Wilwood kit on my truck and there better not be anyone tailgating you if you hit the brakes. It makes enough of a difference that even when you drive much smaller vehicles you have to get used to hitting the brakes much harder.

But that torque in the Eco 3.5 has compared to my old V8 was like driving a Corvette & In California gas is ~$4.30 a GALLON. You get that taste of sporty speed and wanna take it further, constantly. This will be after everything is installed. The 3 major parts are 3,000 dollars. Installation for all this is close to 1,000. The guys at both tune shops both say the same thing. That I will notice a big difference but no HP gains so both shops are top mod shops in Scottsdale AZ. I have itemized print outs and they are about dead even as far as parts and labor. I am paying off my bike and car then in October 2020 I want to get this done. Any idea the gains I can get from this kind of mod and Dynocomp tune ? Any advise would be great. KickinItWithQ i judt watched your 1 year review and saw that too, great video btw, I got my truck a little less then a year ago it’s my first vehicle that wasn’t given too me. I’m 18 and saved up for 4 years and got a loan to pay for it so do you recommend not doing something that you did? I’m in college and living off a college budget working a few days a week now so any major maintenance concerns that have happened since that video 6 months ago? Also how often do you have to change out your tires or are those the ones you got when you got the truck a year and a half ago? I heard something about every 6 months but that sounded a little ridiculous for 1500$ tires. I have 5000 saved up right now thay I’m going to put into a lift kit and an exhaust and Intake and probably a sound system overhaul 😎😎 I work st a mechanic shop and my boss gave me a used set of Toyo AT with like 25% tread left so I’m gonna use those for a while lol . There’s a shop local to me that offers a lifetime warranty on they’re lift kit and the suspension as long as your the owner of the vehicle and they’re 6” lift is only 1800 with that warranty so it’s not too bad I’m just worried about
      Something breaking when I’m in college and I have to spend all my food money on something lol, thanks for responding so quick and reading this long message 😂

      Hey man that’s awesome that you bought your first vehicle at 18 kudos to you for that. So far there has been no major maintenance issues with my truck with a lift kit just normal general maintenance oil change and make sure lift kit was retorque. Tires will vary depending on what you get if you get a good brand they can last up to 50 or 60,000 miles if you get a cheap brand they may only last 10,000 to 20,000. The brand I had that came with my truck last night about 17 probably could push it to 20 but they were already making a Hollowing noise. Nitto ridge grapplers That I got will last me to about 50 and 60,000 but they are pricey. Congrats on saving five grand as well that’s awesome. My advice if that’s all you have saved and you’re going to throw all of that on a lift kit I would maybe wait till you say 7 to 10,000 that way if something happens you have cushion to fall back on and money to repair and eat LOL. I know these trucks and Mods can become an addiction so I definitely get wanting to spend every dollar on it but the same time don’t do anything that’s going to set you back in the long run. Also make sure the lift kit the shop sale is a reputable lift kit. rough country and BDS are two good entry-level lift kits. Hope I answered all your questions and Preciate the support

    So I've been watching your videos for awhile and im a fan. Im wondering if you ever had or if anyone here has had a problem with losing a bit control when hitting a little bump on the highway going roughly 65-70. I have aftermarket tires/rims with no lift or leveling kit on my 2016 F150. Do I need different shocks or would leveling it help? I'm pretty fed up with the squirreliness of my truck and not sure what I can do. Hope you have time to see this and could help me out :(

    • @KickinItWithQ
      @KickinItWithQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, my truck is lifted so hitting bumps at speed it does get a little squirrely but nothing crazy just a little hop and that becuase of the lift. I'm no mechanic maybe wheels are not balanced properly but bigger wheels and tires may change the driving dynamics of the truck. I say take it to a shop to have it checked out.

    To the point honest video and great looking truck! I have a 2016 F150 Platinum 3.5 eco that I am contemplating a 5 Star tune. Are you familiar with that company? What made you choose your particular tune?

    • @KickinItWithQ

      Thanks! Yes 5* is probably the most popular. They have A lot of great reviews and are reputable. I’ve never used them so I can’t compare. I choose MPT based off my research. I hear you can’t go wrong with either. I love my MPT TUNE

    Before I even watch Tune = Transmission blowing up. Then warranty. Blown transmission with no warranty = don't do it. If you're going to tune have a lot of money wait for the warranty to expire, then build the transmission for max power.

  • @Gillambryce
    @Gillambryce 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even without a tune that's a good looking truck my man

  • @andrewgodfrey579
    @andrewgodfrey579 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    check your laws in your state a few years ago the manufacturers tried to void warranties and the after market companieshe won; thats why when you buy a tuner it will say does not void factory warranty. I work for ford and we work on and do warranty work on tuned cars and trucks all the time. Its just like adding exhaust, cold air intake, lift kits, wheels and tires if modifying a car or truck would void the warranty all of those would void the warranty. Bigger tires add more strain to the transmission it also adds more strain to the motor just like the extra weight from a lift kit, it all adds extra wear on parts on the truck. So if a tune will void the warranty as you say then so will the lift kit and everything else and if that was the case dealers wouldnt be selling cars and trucks that are brand new with aftermarket lifts, exhaust, intakes because they would have no warranty as soon as you sign the paperwork.

    Just FYI as far as the brakes argument goes, I'd bet that the bigger tires are the culprit for most of extra effort needed to stop. Bigger radius and more mass make for more work for the brake pads to stop.

      @KickinItWithQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @KickinItWithQ
