Made this today. Ate it so fast we were sad we didn't make enough for seconds. Didn't have msg available here, nor the pork belly, but we used bacon as a substitute and 10000% will make again.
Haha, so glad you liked it! Thank you for sharing that with us! 😁👍 . (P.S. Instead of pork belly, you can always use pork leg or pork shoulder, or even chicken in this recipe. Because bacon can be quite salty with all the seasonings. Hope this helps in your next try~~!! 😉🙌)
I have incorporated so many of your recipes to my everyday cooking, I can't thank you enough!! I always get a kick of your msg sound effect!! So funny! We need to remove the stigma from msg, because it's already in everything we eat. And it's just delicious!! Thank you, Aaron and Claire!! ❤️❤️❤️
My wife made this ramen tonight. It was our first every Asian meal made at home. I got my wife your book as well. Very excited for all the wonderful meals I’m about to enjoy in the new year. The ramen was amazing. Cheers!
Wait no longer. We made Korean fried chicken tonight with the hot honey soy sauce. It was the best chicken we have ever had in our 40+ years on this Earth. Our kids even loved it. 🎉
Another great idea, Aaron! I once made ramen from scratch...all of it..even the noodles. It was a good experience, but I never did again. Too much work. THIS is so much easier! I will try it. I love that Claire said "it isnt as salty", because i am sensitive to too much salt. ...love your recipes, and am looking forward to the next. PS... I make your kkokdugi recipe all the time, I would say it is one of my favorites! Love it!
Wow! Just over 3 hours and over 3600 views. That's awesome. Between you guys, Souped Up Recipes Chinese Cooking Demystified and Made with Lau I've been encouraged to not just branch out and try new things but I've collected a ton of Asian ingredients and my cooking has definitely changed significantly. I'll have to make this over the weekend if not dinner tonight. I've got lots of pork belly in the fridge and freezer. Thanks Aaron and Claire!
I love your channel. Every video is gold, no filler. I have no idea how you maintain your pace and your standards. Brilliant, much appreciated. I've cooked LOADS of your recipes and everything is foolproof and affordable. I also like how you use so many of the main condiments you recommend in most of your recipes so there's no obscure bottles being wasted in my kitchen cupboards and yet the complete flavour profiles of what you cook vary so much in your recipes. Always shockingly delicious and worth the time and effort. Thanks guys, you rock my world.
I don't have much experience with making ramen... but I love noodles! I decided on a whim to make this after buying the only main ingredient I was missing... green onions and although I had to change up the recipe a bit, I can confidently say that this is the best thing I ever made and ate! Thank you for the recipe!
First I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU for this video!! Simple and very quick and even quicker if you make your fragrance oil ahead of time. I made a couple changes because I didn’t have meat nor dashi powder. For the soup base I did 3 cups water, 1 tablespoon chicken powder, 1 cup shrimp broth and one tablespoon of fish sauce. Also for my fragrant oil I did lots more green onions, chopped garlic, minced ginger and red pepper flakes. I’m sure some people might say this is not “real” ramen BUT it was so delicious to ME. My budget is limited and I have to use what I have. Thank you Aaron for making this recipe simple enough for a southern Texas girl to make😊
That puppy is SOOO cute - please include her more often! These noodles look really delicious and will taste even better from the expensive Japanese bowls I just HAD to buy because of all your recipes LOL. I justified the cost by making them my Christmas present plus all the money saved by eating at home Looking forward to seeing you hit the 1 million mark because you deserve it!
One of my fave youtubers Aaron and Claire! Another recipe I will try at home. As always it looks awesome, and... I need more green onion as it makes everything better
Hoi Aaron & Claire, Today for the 3rd time I made Shoyu Ramen, very easy, fast and very delicious. Actually I have made several dishes using your recipe. Our family likes it, thanks for the recipe. Healthy and Success for both of you 🙏💐
This is the fourth Ramen dish I've made now following your instructions 🤓 I've really enjoyed making them and the family have really enjoyed eating them 😄😋 thank you for sharing 👍 🍜
This is gonna take 45min for a noob like me 😭Thank you so much for sharing, this looks amazing!! Hope to try it out very soon. 3k more and congrats in advance!! 🤗
I have always had a hard time boiling eggs. But I followed your instructions exactly and I have the perfect boiled egg. Thank you. Having this tonight. 🥚
Maybe because of nostalgia and me remembering spending time in Japan as a kid (日系!), but I think Shoyu ramen is *the best* and this one seems delicious (おいしい そう!!!)
I used the Chashu recipe with thick slabs and left on stove for a while til soft/braised. Hubs approved for the ramen and wants me to make again to eat with rice today 😅. Thanks!
OMG Team, we're almost at 1M subs - CONGRATULATIONS!!! You've grown so much/fast that I think I've been here since about 23K 🤔 Amazing and knowledgeable content!! It was the 9 ways to do Ramyun post (Green onion Ramyun) that has changed my life 😍 Love you guys
Just made this for the first time, turned out awesome! Couldn’t find doudanjiang at my local market so I used gochujang and skipped the extra sugar on the broth because gochujang is kind of sweet. Worked great! Thanks Aaron and Claire!
I really like ramen, thanks to your videos I can make great food! I enjoy Claire, she is so exciting to watch her reactions and critiques. Tokyo treat sounds good. You make it easy and delicious!
We're making your miso ramen tomorrow, took a while to brave it (still rookie cooks!), but this will likely be the next target I think. Your recipes genuinely look so easy (or at least, worthwhile to make) which makes it so much nicer to cook after really long workdays!
Rookie cooks? Everyone is at the beginning! As I tell my daughter (also a rookie cook)........if it turns out bad, it's only one meal and you'll have learned for next time. Good luck and have fun in the kitchen, because that's what make things taste good too!
Hey Aaron and Claire! Can you believe you're about to hit 1 million subscribers!? What a milestone :-) Thank you for all the really cool recipes and tips and tricks you've shared - I thoroughly enjoy everything you're into and I've made several of them. They've been hits. I cannot wait to give this ramen a try. You rock!!
Good morning Aaron and Claire! I notice you usually use a different Soy than your using today. Kikkoman is the premium soy that Claire is referring to at the taste test stage? It's a better soy than the one you have in your A-store? I look to those in the know and I'm certain your tastes are much more in tune than mine are in the perfect cultural taste of soy! Thank you for your kind advice!!!
So many delights all in one bowl!🍥🍲 Loved getting to see Princess H close up, thanks Claire🐶. I have missed your big sink, probably seems silly but mine is so small & I get a kick out of seeing Claire use Mega-Sink. Take care guys.❤
Tell me about it! So many delights are all in one bowl! 🥰 Don't worry about it! You can keep watching our giant sink. 🤣 Have a great weekend, Bonnie! 🤗
Hi Aaron and Claire :) I always love your content. Thanks for sharing your amazing recipes. I've finally started cooking Korean food because of you, and my husband is so very happy about it! I was wondering if you had a good Empanada recipe you would like to share with us? We just moved, but we used to live right across the street from an Argentinian bakery that made some of the best Empanadas! I haven't had much luck finding good South American bakeries up here in the PNW and would really appreciate your easy flare to such an awesome dish. Also, I bet Claire would LOVE empanadas!
@@EFX5452 I actually managed to snag a 2 pound bag for a reasonable price from Amazon, but I've seen smaller containers of it at specialty Asian groceries around my area. Good luck! I've been meaning to try it because it's such a staple base for so many Japanese foods. I'm super excited to make Aaron's ramen.
So, if I have ramen egg brine, i can use the excess brine to make ramen without making an entire pot of soup? Sounds good to me! Just wish I had pork belly and oyster sauce but I'm doing this on the fly with what I have on hand.
Just have to try this! How did I know Claire was saving the soft boiled egg to savour, I would have done that too 😊. Thank you Aaron for this and all your recipes, they’re amazing and give me so much inspiration 😊 xxx
My wife and I love your videos, this bowl looks delicious! By the way, I don't know where you get your background music for your videos, but if you ever wanna use something new, I can compose some music for you!
All my worries have gone since i started bing watching/cooking Aron's dishes. But I'm slowly developing a new worry, what on earth is this MSG thing that makes everything better?
Nice lard is hard to find in my area. I wonder if when you are browning the pork belly you could drain that fat and save it before you had the sauce to it? Then you could supplement with vegetable oil to make the aromatic oil?
Hey Aaron, I think you forgot to mention the little prick in the bottom of the egg that makes it more easier to peel after boiling. I saw the air bubbles so I assume you did prick it in the bottom
Yes, I think chicken works great in this recipe. 😆 Mirin is an essential ingredient (you can find at Korean or Japanese grocery stores), so I highly recommend using it. But if you want to leave it alcohol-free, you can leave it out or add a little bit of water with sugar. Hope this helps! 🤗

Get Accent at your local grocery. You'll usually find it in the spices/baking aisle. It's just MSG.

I've always ordered tonkotsu, but always been too lazy to even attempt making it. This looks so easy to do, might have to give it a bash. :D

Also will use agave vs Sugar.
GF Ramen noodles or GF Spaghetti noodles.
I want Claire's "mmmm" noise as the notification sound on my phone.
I made this last night and boy was this good!!

You know how to make ramen as you know its composition :
Broth
Tare
Aromatic oil
Topping
Noodles

Great video, but I’ve got a suggestion. In most restaurants i see they serve the soft boiled eggs which were bathed in soy sauce / shoyu.
Another great recipe Aaron, thank you !❤️😍👍🏻👵🏻🇺🇸
OMG, that looks so good :)
MSG gives my wife a headache. Can you recommend any alternative flavoring product?
Thank you for this yummy recipe sir 😋,God bless

Yes, I think chicken works great in this recipe. 😆 Mirin is an essential ingredient (you can find at Korean or Japanese grocery stores), so I highly recommend using it. But if you want to leave it alcohol-free, you can leave it out or add a little bit of water with sugar. Hope this helps! 🤗
