People really thought Eren was the main character 😂 i mean, it blew us away too, but it's still funny looking back. They set him up so well too, but the writer doesn't EVER hold back. Keep that in mind

That's what I like about AOT, you don't get 1 MC but arguably 2 of them, Mikasa and Armin carry the show hard and you won't be disappointed. Eren's death is brought up a lot into the next episodes and arcs of the anime, this is what gives motivation to Mikasa and Armin to continue, it's not only for the shock factor.

I love that in ep 4 they foreshadowed eren's death when mikasa said eren will go to an early grave without her. And the first time they split up, that happened. RiP eren

I honestly think the biggest reason why they kill Eren so soon is because they really want you to understand how dangerous titans are. It doesn’t matter how strong your resolve is - these things are murder machines.

This is the episode where you realize that this show would be different from all other Anime at the time. The hype back then in 2013 was soo big, like no other anime before. Cant wait for more when the mistery parts of the show get relevant :D

I remember watching these episodes for the first time and l lost my mind. It went against all the the tropes and expectations anime had ingrained in me. Killing off the main character within the first few episodes was a bold choice, but that's why Attack on Titan is the GOAT. RIP Eren.

Obviously there are many many things that you don't know or understand yet, but this really is an anime you have to watch several times. And each time there will be new things you notice.

In case you missed, the contradiction Annie's was talking about is that the more skilled you are at killing titans, the more you'll get farther from them because only the top 10 are allowed to join the military police (work in the inner walls or the king) instead of going on an expedition outside walls (the Survey corpse)
Eren said "hot" when the colossal titan blew something that was supposedly a steam
The conversation between Armin and Eren in the flash back implied that the book about outside the world is illegal and they could get arrested having that

Mikasa asked just one thing and Eren couldn't keep up. Bruh. This just goes to show that you can't get attached to anyone in this show - even the supposed main character is not safe. Don't get attached, brother.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it already, but please pay close attention to the end of each episode: if it doesn't have the "To be continued" card it means there's something extra still left! If you want to catch every bit of content - make sure to keep that in mind! :)

I must say I love how you commented on the music multiple times, such an awesome job they did leading us to believe on thing before they surprise you with something else.
The hype and triumphant music they play with the team about to go out, symbolizing the hope for glory that Eren brings out in the others. But when the abnormal/aberrant Titan jumps and the music stops just as everyone else did. They watch as he is eaten and the music changes into something else entirely… utter despair. Realizing this isn’t the heroic story they imagined and it is real world where things aren’t easy, they are fighting against a stronger enemy without any information. There is a reason why humanity dies to them and it’s not going to be something that sheer will can overcome.
Such wonderful writing and directing to make this come to life. Enjoy the ride that this show continues to deliver on.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned the voice actors? I can't get Reiner=Asahi and Eren =Kenma out of my head. I don't know why, but when I see Asahi, I see, Reiner etc lol. Funny thing is, I watched Haikyuu before I watched Aot.

Love the appreciation for the voice acting...some fun trivia stuff: Kenma=Eren (love that one, they couldn't be more different)m, takeda VA does Cpt Levi, Asahi same as Reiner. Im sure im missing a bunch/don't want to spoil character intros in one or both shows. Pretty sure theres a bunch of MHA as well, but I haven't gotten to that myself.

The reason the others, including Jean, didn't take the martial training seriously is that they are not scored on that. And since it doesn't affect their ranking, they just don't try at all during that part of the training.

24:35 Imagine if you watched Attack on Titan during its original run. One episode per week and THEN had to wait FOUR years between seasons 1 and 2. 🤣 I started watching when it was near the end of season 4 part 1 run. But then I had to wait almost a year for season 4 part 2, then another year for Special part 1 and then 8 months for Special part 2.

It’s crazy to look back at the early episodes of AO3 and see Eren. I feel like the flashbacks of him we see in later episodes and season really are what give the show its heart. He was so brave!

if you truly want to enjoy this show (that is the best show ever tbh even comparing to nonanime) you should watch and get ahead like 5-7episodes in so you dont get spoiled in the comments since you read them and reply. This is the first anime I've watched that killed off the "main" character. But honestly, Eren's death was necessary for Armins and Mikasas development. But still, I'll miss Eren.
