true, I started watching AOT recently (I'm not interested in anime but my friend encouraged me) and I thought I misread the subtitles lol
I thought the subtitles were wrong when I first watched too
I literally watched the episode from a different (TOTALLY LEGAL SOURCE) because I thought 'no way he just said that so casually, this MUST be another character's translation!'.
I watched the dub first, so there was no mistaking what he said. The shock was real.
Yeah when I first watched it I thought I misread it for sure. The way it's just a conversation happening in the background had me confused lol.

The way they reveal this is so amazing to me. Reiner just saying it like he's talking about the weather, he was so casual about it and how this enormous reveal is treated like background noise to make us double take and be like "Wait what?"
Now after learning backstory of reiner, it makes so sense why he is so casual in this scene. He was under enormous pressure and his mentality couldn't handle it anymore

9:48 bahaha poor Ange. He was super adamant Reiner was a Titan after 1x17 because he felt the steaming was him healing so quick. The comment section assured him (correctly) that the steam was just Titan blood, which always evaporates like that. So for a while he thought it was just an anime moment and that he shouldn't think too hard about why Reiner survived.

I mean this is the greatest moment of any anime ive ever seen. Nothing can top this for me....the build up the twist, even if you figured it out long before this, it still hits as hard and hyped.

for shock value that is one of the best really because of how casual Reiner was, but in terms of greatest moments in anime for sure code geass ending tops this
it has the only flaw, there weren't so many scenes that would portray reiner's and eren's deep friendship
I´m a bit angry that the translation was "why are you telling him, Reiner?" instead of "what are you saying, Reiner?" because with that sentence Bertold confirms too early that they were titans. I think the show tried to hide that until the very last part where Reiner heals his arm making the viewer doubt about Reiner and think that he just lost it.

Well the dub spoiled it even earlier when Reiner says something like "tell him when Annie almost crushed me" and if reiner was a soldier he wouldn't know that because he wasnt at Stohess when Annie revealed herself

The way Isayama adds pieces of information step by step without revealing the whole picture is the most genius part of AOT.
Yes. The amount of puzzles is always enough for you to appreciate the brilliant way they're coming together, but also always too little, to the point of starving for more every single time. He does that up until the last page of the manga, and beyond. When you see the whole puzzle at long last, he gives you asingle puzzle of a new story and leaves you with it like a total bastard. Isayama, you mad genius you.

I was watching that epison at school with my friedn who made me start watching aot in lunch break and i said her at the start of the episode "reiner is the supreme one an ı love him" and ı just saw her giggle a bit and i didnt got that. when he said ım the armoured titan i just screamed in the middle of class. In the English dub, they added in a roar/scream for Bearturtle after the transformation. And to me that was a great addition on the English dub team's part because it doesn't give off a fighting roar, more a cry for resorting to these desperate measures.

I finished watching the anime 2 days ago. When I started I knew next to nothing about AoT, but since the Annie massacre in the woods I understood it wasn't like any other thing. Let me tell you: when I saw this episode I was speechless the whole time, the feeling of betrayal and confusion was just too overwhelming. I can't believe I tought this anime was bad and overhyped before, truly a masterpiece.

This moment has got to be one of the all time greats in all of anime. And the thing to really think about - Mikasa is so badass here but think how much she had to prepare herself mentally to strike down her friends the instant it was confirmed they were the titans and were going to make a move. Just a day ago she thought these guys were some of her closest friends.

I never get tired of this scene reiners speech is so awesome and badass perfect combination of hopelessness, despair, confusion and ambition. Him coping with the extraterrestrial crisis combined with his resolve makes a great emotional speech

This was probably the best advantage the show had over the manga. The show has the ability to just brush over it and everyone (those who aren't spoiled at least) has to sake a second to realize what was said and if they read it right.

If you had to get someone uninterested in anime into it, AOT's probably your best shot. Especially with the success of Game of Thrones and the like. Episode 1 throws a great punch at all their beliefs.

I just finished watching AoT (one of the best stories I’ve ever seen) and I remember I rewound it at that scene because I thought there is no way this is correct, I must have heard it wrong. Once they actually transform I was dumbfounded. It’s the kind of twist that barely anyone would ever see coming. Reiners arc is simply fantastic.
