Yeah don’t think Mikasa is setting a baseline here. Her skills don’t reflect the skills of regular soldiers at all. Remember, their trainer said she might be the best cadet they ever had. The 3D manoeuvre gear must be incredibly hard to use!
Yeah I think a lot of people (and a lot of reactors I've seen) forget or don't realise that our main cast are literally like 15 years old at this point, they're honestly doing better than most would in that situation!

I love how AOT established how horrifying the titans are.
Right in episode one/two you are faced with a ton of death and feel helpless against them. Then we see Eren, our brave kid who wasn’t meant to be the protagonist, and we really feel his rage and conviction to eradicate the titans. We see them train and feel hopeful for the first time. And then, suddenly, just as sudden as in the first episode, the titans are invading again.
But it’s fine right? We can take them this time. We trained! We’re not useless kids anymore.
Well, except we’re all kind of useless kids against the overwhelming might of a few little titans (except for Mikasa). They kill Eren to really sell us on the threat the titans provide.g
They do it sooo well, they aren't like super scary in sight but its the way they behave that makes it so scary for me
“I don’t know how to feel”… Exhausted you feel exhausted but you still want to be more exhausted

As someone else in the comments already mentioned, Mikasa is not the best base line to compare everyone else. She is quite literally built different 😅
But you should also take into consideration that despite everyone training for the past couple of years, this is the FIRST time most of them have even seen a titan, let alone fought one. So not only is this the first time they're truly putting their skills to the test, it's also their first time having to see the actual horrors of dealing with the titans

The attack on titan manga is way more brutal, for example, in the scene with Franz he was in half, in the anime Armin is blocking the view. In the manga, it wasn't.
But even with this, the anime is still VERY brutal and something I wouldn't recommend to anyone who wants to be a mentally stable person 🥲
even in the manga, the smiling titan twists carla before it eats her. and the anime eye titan (who does the bending pose) ate that girls head in half and it was shown in the manga but not the anime
