I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

Mr Peterson and Mr Musk get on because they are well known intelligent people who have humanity at thier heart. I follow both due to their insightful, genuine, wholly decent messages they post in being this way.

Elon Musk is a con man. He has delivered so many promises that he hasn't kept.

Musk is skillful enough to make those sorts of sounds even if he knows jack-shit about the subject. He is a salesman, and that's what salesmen are good at - I've met plenty like him in my career.

Peterson's assessment is spot-on here. The only thing I would add is that when Elon Musk sent his Tesla Roadster into space, it was an act of creative genius. It was not an advertisement for Tesla. That particular car had been out of production for years. Elon's goal was to create a video stream that would inspire a sense of wonder, featuring Starman navigating the cosmos with the Earth passing gently by in the background.
It reminded me of Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the World Trade Center towers, itself a beautiful gift to the people of New York City.

@@keithad6485 Sorry you read it that way. I certainly did not intend to belittle. I edited the post. The brilliant part of it was the creative idea, not the engineering. Were it not a Tesla Roadster, it would have been a big block of concrete, as is typically used as a dummy payload on a test launch like this one. Elon saw this as an opportunity to inspire a sense of wonder around the world, and he did.

On Elon Musk, I am a self made man, now working on my third manufacturing business and about to embark on my fourth, resurrecting my Defense manufacturing business which was sold some years ago. I admire self made men and women such as Musk. To apply your skills and create a goods or services company from nothing. Takes confidence, unshakeable faith on oneself, persistence, and determination. For example, these are some people who I admire who were self made, Victor Kiam who 'loved the razor so much he bought the company' (Remington) and whose business maxims I have followed with success, Coco Chanel (I admire her and her achievements, even though it is not politically correct to admire her these days due to her Nazi connection during WW2), Henry Ford (I admire him and his achievements, even though it is not politically correct to admire him these days due to his Nazi connection).
Though, I do not admire people who have made their fortune by buying and selling on the stock exchange or traders who make money from providing stock exchange service, this is simply gambling and nothing of real value is added to a customer.
The car into space thing does not inspire wonder in me. Like everything Musk does, it is tinged with arrogance and bravado. The natural world inspires wonder. But apparently man has forgotten.

If Musk goes off the deep end on the 23rd and starts babbling about the new old FSD that wasn't FSD and isn't FSD, it's all over. No one has stated what happens if you can't override a computer and you're sitting in the back seat of a roboTesla.. The Diiver Assistant Software is pretty amazing; I can't deny that, but it is not fully autonomous. I'm not sure if Tesla or any other company should be able to populate the roads across the US with driverless vehicles now or in the foreseeable future. Waymo was far from fully autonomous. It's one thing to see and say the software is pretty amazing. How do you feel when you know, if you, the driver, didn't override the computer's decisions you wouldn't have had a good day?

Elon picking Franz von Holzhausen was probably what made Tesla stand out from all those other doofy-looking "golf cart" EV cars on the market. You can even see traces of the New Beetle in some of the Model 3's visual language.

Thank you Jordan. My working career consisted of me being an electrical engineer who often made enemies of workmates due to me working so fast and efficiently, also problem solving, often days ahead. After a 12 hour shirt I would stop for a beer at the 'pub' on the way home and still be there at booting out time. I have never been an alcoholic.. .. BUT, without beer, I would be extremely fidgety and would not be able to sleep. Now I am 65 and do not go to 'pubs' and hardly drink at all.. .. except for once or twice a week I have a case of beer to catch up on my sleep. I have never until now realised why I always drank so much. It was to slow my mind down

The NATURAL body and mind REQUIRES sleep ..In the last little while Elon looks in discomfort. Its affecting his personality. With someone that has his condition --- it can trigger something more serious, but hey, lets try that Ketamine prescription why don't we.
What does seem to work is a change in diet, exercise, fresh air. If you need booze or drugs to sleep, its not a good thing.

I wouldn't in most things, and in life in general, but I would bet against his robotaxis and autonomous driving. It's never been close, even now, but he keeps saying it is, for close to a decade, every few months. There is some kind of psychological disorder involved there. It's one thing if you see people driving a million whiles without intervention and be like, we're close! But almost every day I see examples on TH-cam where FSD does something that will get people killed without intervention. That is not even close. And the needle has barely between the updated 12 versions. It's not getting better fast enough.

I think it was flight 3 of the Falcon 9 that did that (literally after it happened "experts" were still saying it was impossible). Since that success SpaceX has landed 99.4% of its rockets. The key to FSD success is not zero human deaths. The key is when the software becomes safer than the average human driver. Once that happens everything will happen very quickly and municipalities will start to allow Tesla to operate autonomously within areas. Just look at the data acquisition fishhook that has taken place. It really is incredible. Bottom line, don't be against Elon.

It seems completely appropriate to declare that Elon Musk is THE most importan man on this planet in our lifetimes. It may be hundreds of years before another like him comes along. It may be never. For now he is substantially unrivaled in every area he chooses to pursue. I wonder what it would be like to live a country governed by such a mind.

The fact that Elon is autistic is so amazing my grandson is also autistic and to see the things Elon has done with his life has gave me great hope for my grandson! Gore Vidal had that level of brilliant intelligence. I spent an afternoon with him in his home in Los Angeles. His sharp wit and conversation, along with a firm grasp on statistics had me feeling overwhelmed jsut trying to keep up.
Elon Musk is a complex human being. He is definitely a genius and is definitely set a standard enterprises cultures at a very high level which tends to burn out people who can’t or will not choose to perform at that level at the expense of balance in their life. Therefore there can be levels of turnover at least every year and even higher every five years. Elon runs his business enterprises very much like they are Tech Startups which you don’t see in multinational companies or corporations the size of Tesla or X (formerly Twitter). That is what he learned about creating startup businesses in Silicon Valley.

And yet Tesla retains executives far longer than any comparable group of industries. Don't let popular narratives blind you to reality.
Get real, he is just a salesman and financier.

It's just that more and more every year the populace is getting on board with what elon's vision is and in doing so his ability to take what he has in his mind and converted into actual capital in the markets will continue to grow

The population is not declining, in fact over-population is the problem of the future. But people like Musk, Boris Johnson, and Trump claim it is declining to justify leaving a string of children behind them, some of which they seem to have forgotten about.

Except for the fact that Elon is really good at building companies and making money and Nikola Tesla was really good at inventing things and not so good at building companies.
Nicola invented things that were never seen before Elon has not invented a single thing anything you think he's invented has been done before. Like all technological innovation he has innovated on other people's ideas but there's not a single piece of technology credit at Elon musk

Tesla died a virgin while Musk leaves a trail of wives, mistresses, and kids with silly names some of which he seems to have forgotten about. And some of them want to forget him too. Tesla would never have stood up and talk bullshit in order to make money.

Everyone would like to see a conversation between JBP and Elon Musk! In fact several conversations!!
My cousin is like this. His mind goes a mile a minute. To sleep, he has to drown the thoughts in music or watching a tv show he's already seen so he's not wondering how it's going to unfold.
He also, weirdly, gets super tired and falls asleep almost *immediately* when he's bored/unengaged... like a computer that enters sleep mode when there's no activity for 10 minutes. I struggle to sleep and find peace only in the quiet moments I randomly find myself in.
Meanwhile, I think fairly slow or at least much slower than him even though I'm *allegedly* 135 IQ. My thinking makes more intuitive leaps rather than painstakingly building a railroad of logic for his thoughts.
I've often told him that I would hate to have his brain. It would be exhausting.

There will be a time in humanity's future when bronze statues of Musk will be celebrated.
Statues are no longer venerated. Neither are posers like Peterson and Musk. Their 15 minutes are almost up.
No, he will be in psychology textbooks as an example of how people en-mass can mindlessly follow a leader who spouts enough bullshit. There are many previous cases of this and they don't have bronze statues made. Jones of Jonestown was another example, and another I won't mention because of Godwin's Law.
