America is fat and lazy, people are incredibly overpaid for menial jobs. America's working class will not fight for fat beurocrats. I see this developing into a nuclear problem because U.S. is weak beyond measure. If you can't win fair you cheat. Ive made minimum wage my entire life from age 13-31, I've been working since I was 4 years old on the farm. I've had many jobs and have more skills than anyone I've met. The facade of success that people hide behind disgusts me. People make 100k+/year and have no skills. Hard work is not rewarded, waste and inefficiency is. U.S. is a sewage dump.

Unbridled capitalism destroys the world, communism stifles the majority and wealth is controlled by the empire and gives to the few ass kissing snobbish ones only. What about socialism? I don't know even how it works.😅 😇
The problem with humans is greed, luxury and hunger for power, they seek and accumulate more than they need, even if it at the expense and destruction of whole community. Buddy the war never stopped and it is ongoing. Every citizen on earth is blindfolded and ignorant of the blood sucking cartels instigating civil wars and conflicts. War is profit for the few. Probably most consumer products are blood-stained. Your house, gas , roads, infrastructure and comfortable high standard of living are all probably blood-stained; a few or many had to die to get it.

Omg I just think like .. erm was that about race? But specifically were they having a larger thing in mind than just what'd been in the middle east I feel like a loser that I condemned someone as if oil was plentiful maybe the two largest countries wanted it and the US should have let history play out we'd had been better for it.

This is the Elon I know and respect. Having visited China, worked with Chinese scientists and engineers, and now partnered to a woman living there all I will say is that China is an amazing country and the Chinese people an amazing culture. I hope we learn to work together. The recent efforts to bring semiconductor processing back to the U.S. is a smart move for instance. I love U.S. ideals, in particular placing freedom on a pedestal. However, I do think the major threat facing America today is less about external economic challenges (like China) and more about the internal moral corrosion injected by the "wild west" of social and TV media into our culture. As Lincoln said in his famous 1838 speech, America's demise would not "come from abroad" but rather would "spring up amongst us".

@@benjaminr8961 Lol Soviets were evil to Nazis, as every human being in the world should be. There isn't a bigger shame in the world than when a Nazis sees you as an ally. And the Nazis started seeing US as an ally during the final stages of war. The combined army of France and Britain didn't even put up a worthy fight against the Nazis, why? A single fort in USSR resisted the Nazis, longer than the entire country of France. And Nazis repaid this "kindliness"(fellow white supremacism) by not bombing any of their historical squares and buildings in France and other west and some European countries, while the opposite was happening to USSR and East Europe. Luftwaffe bombed everything that it flew over in USSR. During the siege of Leningrad, the famous amber room of Queen Catherine the great was stolen and demolished, the Bolshoi theatre was bombed, many tsarist era palaces have all gone. Soviets went to great efforts to rebuild the amber room, the Bolshoi theatre and many other palaces.
Even today in North America and in west Europe, the ultra right wing nutjobs recite words of Nazi leaders like Joseph Gobbels and even Hitler word for word, and call that protection of values. Did you know that Nazis wanted by Soviet Union for murdering thousands of Jews in concentration camps, became the governing heads of NATO and CIA? I mean, literally the NAZIS wanted for serious war crimes were engulfed back into the "civilized" western family.

Geography plays a much bigger role in world politics than most people realise. If you live in mainland Europe you're at much greater risk of being invaded than north America. The Americans can afford to behave badly and make mistakes around the world because they will probably never be invaded. It's a different story in Europe. Not that I'm excusing the US for Iraq and Afghanistan but they would have thought twice about invading if they didn't have an ocean in-between...

Then the Nationalists. Then another civil war with communists that started in 1927. Then were occupied and enslaved by the Japanese from 1937 until the Americans and Brits rescued them in 1945. I was born and raised in Germany and I can confirm that people preferred the US over the other allies.
However, you cannot draw the conclusion, that this is still the case today - Americans being better than the French or Russians.
How people in general treat each other, including their prisoners, doesn't just come from culture. Wealth is also very important and past experiences or emotional involvement.
The French and Russians had been at war with Germany before and lost! Humiliation is a feeling that isn't forgotten even after generations.
The US just sabotaged the German energy infrastructure by destroying the Nordstrom 2 pipeline. They sanctioned everyone involved in building it, dragging companies and private people involved in the construction into court.
Sorry to say, but the US is not our friend. It's not friendship if you control our internal and external affairs.
It's not friendly, if we are forced to be a US vassal state.

I recently check the ancient poem of China, came across one of the most famous poet - Li Bai, who was born in AD 701, 1323 yers ago. His poem still very popular in Chinese literature and in high school texbook . His wording still quite easy to understnad even for ordinary Chinese. The culture continuity is amazing. How many US people can read Chinese? How many Chiese can read English? Tells why they never understand China at all.

The German prisoners of war were much better of in French captivity. After the capture of the Remagen Bridge, the US Army hastily erected dozens of Prisoner of War cages around the bridge-head. The camps were simply open fields surrounded by concertina wire. Those at the Rhine Meadows were situated at Remagen, Bad Kreuznach, Andernach, Buderich, Rheinbach and Sinzig. The German prisoners were hopeful of good treatment from the GIs but in this they were sadly disappointed. Herded into the open spaces like cattle, some were beaten and mistreated. No tents or toilets were supplied. The camps became huge latrines, a sea of urine from one end to the other. They had to sleep in holes in the ground which they dug with their bare hands. In the Bad Kreuznach cage, 560,000 men were interned in an area that could only comfortably hold 45,000. Denied enough food and water, they were forced to eat the grass under their feet and the camps soon became a sea of mud. After the concentration camps were discovered, their treatment became worse as the GIs vented their rage on the hapless prisoners. In the five camps around Bretzenheim, prisoners had to survive on 600-850 calories per day. With bloated bellies and teeth falling out, they died by the thousands. During the two and a half months (April-May, 1945) when the camps were under American control, a total of 18,100 prisoners died from malnutrition, disease and exposure. This extremely harsh treatment at the hands of the Americans resulted in the deaths of over 50,000 German prisoners in the Rhine Meadows camps, in the months just before and after the war ended.

Greece didnt exist then as a state. The term "Greece" is like today we say "West". Athens and Sparta, cause of their big contribution to the civilization, wanted their "rightful" dominance. That blinded them for local domination, and made them ingore the biggest enemy, who was Persia. Thankfully, Philips and his son Alexander came and formed the first western state, the Macedonian Empire and the first actual Greek State. The lesson is, dont be blinded by your previous success, you need to work together for the common goal. If you fail to do it, someone else will do it for you, while you both destoy yourselves. Thats the lesson of the peloponnesian war.

Like many other Asian countries such as South Korea, Singapore and Japan they've really embraced modern technology as a way to advance their economy. Probably because a huge amount of development in China has come in the last 20 years. A lot of western infrastructure reached a high level back in the 70's and it's always harder to tear vast infrastructure down and replace it than build it modern from scratch.
Modernising what we already have and use is a slower process. And some of the older stuff is still lovely to have around.. but when it comes to public transport, sanitation and services.. would be nice if that had been kept on top of relentlessly.

He is American.... but he is also Canadian and South African. In fact, he has more family relationship and historic ties to Canada and SA vs the USA. He is American for the business opportunities.
Although he is right that there are very impressive buildings in Shanghai and Beijing, the tier 2 cities are not so impressive. Also, something about Chinese infrastructural philosophy is that modern structures are not made to last. They are made to be torn down and rebuilt in 20 to 25 years. There are economic stimulation and land ownership reasons for this standard. This somewhat temporary standard is seen in the very bones of the structural/building materials in Chinese construction such as rebar, concrete, and other fundamental building blocks. Often the standards of these materials, which are for export, are higher than domestically used materials. As an example, rebar exported to N. America will often not meet the engineering safety standards of domestic rebar made here. Consider again, the domestic building materials are even worse than stuff being exported. To metaphorically state, these "grand" architectural displays in Shanghai and Beijing, are built on foundations of sand which will have a comparatively short lifespan. These building facts are motivated by the lack of property rights and lease ownership schemes imposed by the CCP. Developers and builders are not motivated to build things to last.

Many of the 10 bloodiest wars in the world (that you never heard of) were fought in China. Another thing is that China is a very old civilization while the USA is only 250 years old. By comparison, the civil war (War of the Three Kingdoms) between the fall of the Han dynasty and the rise of the Jin dynasty lasted about 100 years leading to mass depopulation. 100 years is 40% of the total life span of the USA. China's history goes back thousands of years BC so 250 years is just a blip for them. And India has an even longer age, it was already ancient at the time of the Pharaohs.

NATO was set-up the following year in 1949. In 1951 The Marshall Plan was replaced by the more appropriately named Mutual Security Act which speaks for itself and shows the true intent of The Marshall Plan. I think what happened is that the original title was changed prior to publication (for the obvious reason that it is difficult to pronounce) and that the reviewers had received pre-pub copies that were under the original title. The implication I draw from this is that Musk was on the list of pre-pub reviewers.

So, they're ALREADY taking over the world by hoovering up countries in Africa, and elsewhere - investing in projects across Europe too. It seems to me, The West is complicit in the rise of China, the UK for example is a subscriber to the BRI project. So when we talk about "doing something about it". Yes, we could, we could cut them off economically, but the greed machine of corporate investors will not accept any loss in their bottom line - thus capitalistic forces prevent China being stopped. Russia could not have survived the second World War without United States weapons supplies and aid. The United States had the bomb before Russia and could have made more and used them well before Russia was able to acquire them. Russia was an evil country then and still is. Stalin starved 12 million Ukrainians to death in the early 1930’s . The United States never acknowledged that during WWII because of the aid we were giving Russia to help defeat Germany. Most Americans would have been horrified by that. Now you know why Ukrainians hate Russia and will never forget or trust them.

Elon claims to have studied Chinese history, yet states that China has never been “acquisitive”. Apparently, he somehow overlooked China’s Yaun Dynasty, the most acquisitive power in history. Likewise, China’s neighbor Vietnam serves as a good example of China’s acquisitive nature, having been colonized & otherwise overlorded for a millennium, starting with the Han Dynasty in 110 BC. Or, how about Qing Dynasty occupation & control of Korea? As for the CCP, China’s invasion & annexation of Tibet in 1950 is the very definition of acquisitive. Of course, Elon could never openly discuss that if he hopes to continue doing business in China.
