    29MPGs x 50Gallons =1450 miles per tank. EPA needs to reconsider their non-environmental friendly crap they put on these machines. Oh another thing, love the fact that we are saving the planet by filling the DEF fluid from non-reusable plastic jugs. Government efficiency and brains at it's finest. Fine people that roll coal, let everyone else enjoy a hard working truck

      This is the reason the epa has vilified diesels and created horseshit regulations. The same reason why the rest of the world has 5 times the choices for diesels in every vehicle segment except North America.

    I like how you did everything so that I can easily be put back and work when needed. In my area if you register your truck commercial there are no emissions at this point in time. I’ve been buying and driving older trucks just to avoid all the mileage and lack of reliability of emissions equipped trucks as well as I drive stick only. So picking have been slim. This info opens horizons alittle. Thank you.

  • @vincentrobinette1507
    @vincentrobinette1507 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    That's a much bigger difference than I ever would have guessed. Some of it may be deleting the exhaust gas recirculation valve,(EGR) and some might be restriction in the DPF. While those parts are off, you might see if it's possible to flow test, clean, or perhaps, just replace it. With the straight pipe exhaust, I could really hear the "whistle" if the turbocharger. The black smoke happens for the same reason, you feel the "snappy" throttle response. With the factory tune, it measures boost pressure, not allowing the injection pump to inject too much fuel, for the amount of air available to burn it. With the aftermarket tune, the pump squirts in the amount of fuel indicated by throttle position, regardless of boost. It smokes, until the turbo has time to "catch up". Don't use an aftermarket tune with the exhaust in place, because it will quickly foul the DPF. Using similar to a factory tune with the delete will eliminate the puff of black smoke, but, the throttle will feel more like stock. (sluggish, by comparison)You will, however, keep the good fuel economy, and the power.
    For the next experiment, try deleting the EGR, but leave the DPF and SCR in place. While the truck will feel "stock", it might gain the fuel efficiency, and, I think, will actually make the DPF last longer, and regenerate less frequently.

    • @user-lz7wb7tg4g
      @user-lz7wb7tg4g ปีที่แล้ว

      EGR is better not to touch or cut! It doesn't interfere. And yes, with the miss setting, with the current injectors pouring fuel.

    If you don't do a quick learn on the 68RFE after flashing, you need to keep your foot out of it until the trans relearns. High rates of clutch failures if you pour the coals to it before it learns where the shift timing and line pressures need to be for solid shifts without slip.

    I've always wondered if you were able to do an actual emissions comparison between stock and a deleted truck with a tune set for fuel economy, not to roll coal at every stoplight, and accounting for the increase in fuel milage would the emissions be substantially different? We know the EGR/SCR/DPF setup increases wear and tear on the motor and decreases fuel milage so I wonder if when you account for the increased fuel usage is all of the mandated emissions junk really making that much of a difference on the total emissions per tank of fuel or are the EPA numbers based purely on the instantaneous emissions. Does that make sense?

    • @amt3735
      @amt3735 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting better fuel mileage increases emissions because you're burning the fuel more efficiently, creating more fumes. Modern cars are a balancing act between good mpg and low emissions. Basically, they lower emissions by passing unburnt fuel through the exhaust.
      I tuned my gas truck and got better gas mileage. The trade off is that I create more emissions. Not a problem for me because I live in a free state. Another issue is that my o2 sensors and catalytic converter will probably need replaced sooner than usual.

    Need help/info, it's been years since I had a diesel last one was on a 99 Ford F250 so I have been educating myself via various videos. I now understand all the new emmision bs that involves deleting. That being said I am in the process of purchasing a 2019 Ram 3500 that has been deleted. It should arrive at my local dealership in the next few days coming from Dallas Tx. Question is knowing that it has been reprogrammed for the delete that was done are there issues when bringing into a dealership for service. If the dealership connects it to their system will it wipe out the delete program, will this cripple the truck? I have a superchip programmer on my 5.7 hemi and I know that I have to return to stock before going in for service. Just need help in understanding Thanks in advance.

    Remember to measure at the pumps, ECU tunes can program the fuel usage gauge too, if they want to.
    I am a bit skeptical about the fuel millage, it is within 20% difference of my 4 cylinder stationcar for a truck that is twice the weight, twice the wind resistance and twice the wheel rolling resistance.
    The throttle response difference can easily be the ECU giving you 20% throttle instead of 15% throttle your foot tells the car to do.
    It could also be giving you 100% throttle shortly if you press the throttle quickly between 0 to 50%, that would explain the idle smoke.
    Try and test if the last 10-20% on the throttle pedal even does anything, it could be removed by the ECU.
