I’m also looking at doing the delete tune and straight pipe and leaving all the EGR components in place for ease of reversal. If I go that route, just unplugging everything after the tune is all I need to do? Thanks for all your help! Keep up the great vids, we all appreciate you and your knowledge.

A couple tips to make it even easier. On the def injector don’t pull the retaining clip out push it in with a flat head screw driver or something sometimes there a little tough but once it’s pushed it it’ll pop right off and to get the very front piece out you can just unbolt the hangers 2 13 mm bolts make life so much easier
I’m about 17k away from hitting 100k on my 21 3500 6.7 HO. Once that happens I’m ordering this kit. Wanted to wait for the warranty to expire prior to doing this

Nice video, thanks! While doing the delete it might also make sense to replace the grid heater (aka intake system) which is known to melt a bolt and drop into the intake. The pieces end up in the # 6 cylinder and catastrophic engine failure. At 20:10 in the video you are already at the intake.
You should of shown how much of a pain it is to put the new rubber hose over the nipple with the o-ring on it on the head.... and we all have a problem with the o-ring that you changed, it is very hard also, which causes you to cut it when pressing it in. Over all great video!
Glad to see you back to preaching the truth!! For a while I thought you were kinda not against emissions which clearly do suck. Love your vids bro you have helped me with your videos in the past!!
Hey bud thanks for the video. The 5th gens are slightly different from the previous gens so this was helpful. at 25:40, what is the purpose of removing that sensor plug under the throttle valve?
The throttle valve is non-functional with delete tunes, unplugging it helps ensure it does not close unexpectedly. (it is supposed to be spring-loaded to the open position by default).
Just deleted my 5th gen with the help of your videos! I wish I would’ve went with ezlink. I went with a mm3 tuner and am having some issues tuning it with it having a cp3 conversion hopefully they can figure something out on it tomorrow.
You mention taping or otherwise sealing up all those harness connections going to the various sensors on the Cat/DPF exhaust components. On my 2018 Chassis/Cab at least, there is a single large multi-pin plug connecting that entire portion of the harness with the main vehicle harness with only ONE sensor still connected thru it. That sensor is located in the downpipe just ahead of the 3 bolt flange. You don't mention unplugging that sensor, but I confirmed the delete tunes don't utilize it anymore. So, the entire section of that harness could be unplugged and removed from the framerail, preventing all those connector plugs from filling up with road grime and getting corroded over time. There would only be that single large connector to seal off, and the delete job would look much cleaner. Also, the DEF tank on a Chassis Cab is HUGE and hangs below the framerail, so I chose to remove it also. I can confirm that the single plug that connects the controller mounted on top of that tank to the rest of the chassis harness can be unplugged and taped/sealed up at that single point also.
Thanks for the awesome video. Super simple to follow along. I have a question.. Do you recommend deleting the throttle valve as well? I’ve noticed in your videos that you just unplug it and leave it in place. I’ve heard it could possibly get stuck closed and cause problems. Thanks again man.

Hey M'Man! Thanks for these great videos! Just waiting for the warranty on my truck to finish and then doing a full delete with a Banks Monster Ram intake replacement. Already had to replace the grid heater under warranty once at 65000km and replace the fuel injection pump to the CP3! Question for you. I have a Magnaflow DPF Back tail pipe that I would like to use with the emissions off 5" exhaust. If I incorporate a muffler with the new exhaust, eliminate the tailpipe section do you think I could still use the Magnaflow set up, have you done that before? Just want to avoid having to go to a muffler shop and do this on my own. Thanks as always!

There wouldn’t be any way of doing that because you can program the stock file back onto the truck but you’d have to put the factory exhaust back on too

Great video. TY. I have a few questions. I have seen where the transmission has to be retrained over like 200 miles. Is this still the case? What kind of weight difference do you estimate from old to updated parts? What would it take to reverse this process?
You need the green O-Ring from the dealer for the coolant bypass. Ask me how I know. I think it should be included in the kit but no one ever does include them. The green means high heat. The black ones will square out and not seal after a while.
The best thing to do when deleting if that's the intention is to install speed of air modified pistons and install banks engineering power pack which includes ram air intake box/big ass filter, monster ramhorn with grid heater coil, Banks intercooler and turbo modifications with a more free-flowing exhaust manifold that is thermal coated... To go full bore, also you would need to thermal coat the chamber on the cylinder heads do a poly quad valve modification with contour angle back cuts on the valves and super port the intake and exhaust ports along with speed of air modifications to the chambers as well... The camshaft would also need to be modified to logger torque cam specs where there's more duration on the intake than exhaust to help scavenge remaining combustion gases out of the cylinder during the exhaust stroke and provide much fresher intake charge and also helps spool the turbo faster and sooner... Because any amount of smoke out of the tailpipe is wasted energy and you want to maximize the engines capability to produce mechanical work energy from the crankshaft to the driveline... Gail Banks is the guru/expert to listen to when it comes to maximizing the engine's potential and mitigate / eliminate exhaust smoke.
@@gadsdenconsulting7126 well Gale Banks knows what he's doing and is an engineer by profession... Plus he has an extensive amount of experience, research and development, road testing and knowledge to back it up. All those other diesel engine mod companies are amateurs compared to Gale Banks.
@@matthewmiller2268 Keep telling yourself that, buddy. He's a salesman first. Just because he's an engineer, doesn't mean he's the top dude. You're regurgitating all the crap he says to sell his products. Ask yourself why he doesn't dyno his ram intake horn on an emissions stock truck. He has a dyno. Don't believe everything you see and hear in his vids. If you dig into the comments, you see knowledgeable people questioning him. You won't see him answer, but you'll see his disciples jump in and berate people with nonsense comments like "do even know what air density is?" They have nothing to add because they just repeat old Gale and his sales pitch. For all of his love of emissions crap, he sure makes a killing off his military contracts that have NO emissions restrictions. I'm sure you mean well, so don't think I'm shitting on you. I know a bit about these and have a dedicated competition sled-pulling truck that I've dumped thousands into. I have ZERO Banks Power gadgets on it, and it finishes top three in the pudunk places I go. I don't know everything, but I know a snake oil salesman when I see one.
With all the Banks upgrades on my RAM I know I’ve increased its value. I tow. But if you delete, you can be sure it will be harder to sell your truck. No average family owner that tows would buy a deleted truck, but they will definitely buy mine.
@ ….tested over 11,000 miles of duplicated conditions, my regen cycles have more than doubled in range. They were about 535 miles (not towing), to 1135+ mile intervals. I didn’t need to spend all the money I did, but the truck is very clean now. I am using Risolne’s new def treatment.
@darkirondiesel The written instructions for the race pipe suggest some tac welds between the sections that are clamped? any thoughts on whether or not that is necessary ? if so how much of a tac or bead and how many would you need in those slip connections
Should I also add Throttle Valve Delete to my order? Is is needed / helpful ? Also, I don't really want loud. What do you know about the 5" with muffler or 4" with muffler kit vs your 5" no muffler installation? Suggestion? I'm leaning toward 5" with muffler.
Throttle valve delete isn’t necessary but it does clean up the engine bay a bit so I definitely recommend it. As for exhaust, as long as you get a muffler with your kit you should be fine.
@@darkirondiesel Thanks. Placed order for 5" w/ muffler and added the throttle valve delete. I clicked on your link so you should get credit for the sale. Do you have a video for throttle valve delete? I'll search shortly.
When setting the battery charger, can you have it at 15amps? My charger doesn’t have a 10 amp setting and I don’t want to blow anything if that’s too much amperage.
Love your channel and thank you for posting it. May I ask, I'm not familiar with these GDP tuning files and sure not how they work. Please help to explain the functionality of the following tunes. 1. Ram 13-17 6.7 PK 68RFE, No Em. 0HP W/TCP-170 V2.4= does it delete ERG&DPF? 2. Ram 13-17 6.7 PK 68RFE, W/Em. Soft W/TCM V1.6. = does it delete ERG&DPF? 3. Ram 16-17 6.7 PK 68RFE, OEM Flash 32370731AE= Does it restore factory stock? I need tuning file that improves performance and does not want to delete EGR and DPF.
1. “No em” stands for no emissions, so that would be if you wanted to delete the egr/dpf/def 2. “W/em” that should stand for with emissions so that should be good to run if you’re keeping your stock emission system on the truck. It’s also a SOTF (switch on the fly) file so you’ll need to install the switch for different power levels. 3. That should just be a stock file just like the dealer would have had it programmed. Stock power, stock emissions, etc. If it’s ez lynk you should be able to tap on each file and it should give you a more detailed version there.
Thanks for helping. There is emission recall in 2024. State of California, USA require to complete the recall in order to allow registration or renew registration. I wonder the truck still be able to install custom tunes after completed this recall. Does anyone know?
Their kit will be different, main thing is tuning. I had to ship my ecm away, with the diesel dudes kit you don’t have to do that. I’ll be getting a kit soon here to make a video on.
Wish I went this way before my delete. After 6 weeks I have “lurching” at times. Mostly when stopping or slowing. I’m hoping to get it fixed by reprogramming it. Uggg. What a headache…
The only issue I had with my 5 inch exhaust was the furthest back exhaust piece kept rotating and hitting the spares heat shield making a shitty rattling noise even after impacting the clamp down. Anyone having similar issues can just have a buddy weld it or even maybe just tack it to keep it from rotating. I had a buddy weld it. Keep in mind it will be a huge pain in the ass to take out afterwards though.
This happened to me when I deleted mine and I took the heat shield off. I was a little weary at first due to the heat from the exhaust being so close to the spare tire, but I’ve had it this way for a year and the tire is just fine. So if you don’t want to weld it, just remove it altogether.
Mine rotates up into the bottom of the bed and has rubbed the metal. I cut it off a few inches past the final bend and installed the MBRP 5 inch turn down
Did you unplug the throttle valve for this as well? As I stated in the last video, I’m running EFI live and not EZ link but I am trying to make sure that if I have to unplug it I do so. Thank you
@darkirondiesel Is there a parameter on the ez lynk app that actually confirms which power level you selected with the SOTF or to know for sure your sotf is working besides feeling it?
Good day .... since i have a 2019 ram 3500 dually with the high output 6.7 with the Aisun trans & 410 gears. Would i need to change my gearing or is there anything in the tuner to change the transmission tuning to where it would run more economical ? My deleted 2018 2500 diesel i averaged 28-36mpg and i had my foot in it on the skinny pedal all the time city or hwy. granted it didn't have the 410 gearing and it wasn't a dually. I paid a shop to delete my 2018 so thats why i am asking these questions and refuse to pay them $ 5,300 compared to $ 3,150 to do the same delete kit on my 2019.
Hey unfortunately with the HO and 411 gears (which is what I have in my 2022) the fuel milage won’t be quite as good as a 2500 model with the lower gear ratios. But you don’t have to do anything different tuning wise, just make sure they know you have the Aisin. You will still see a fuel milage increase but more importantly you will gain the reliability and relief knowing you’re not suffocating your engine anymore. Also no more def is always nice.

Another Banks desciple😂
That’s why I tell guys to keep their factory parts. Could put your truck back to stock in a day if you needed to.
i strongly prefer buying the deleted truck wtf, gimme the oem parts off of it so i can make it legal for reg is all icare about
@ ….tested over 11,000 miles of duplicated conditions, my regen cycles have more than doubled in range. They were about 535 miles (not towing), to 1135+ mile intervals. I didn’t need to spend all the money I did, but the truck is very clean now. I am using Risolne’s new def treatment.
Love the video, the tune that comes with this kit, would it allow me to be able to pass emissions?
No this is for a emissions off system. But there might be emissions on tuning in one of those folders, I never checked but you could always ask them
@darkirondiesel
The written instructions for the race pipe suggest some tac welds between the sections that are clamped? any thoughts on whether or not that is necessary ? if so how much of a tac or bead and how many would you need in those slip connections
This video has all the info i needed to delete my truck a week ago lol, i spent days doing research before i did my delete.
haha of course, that sucks. At least you can make sure you did it right
Should I also add Throttle Valve Delete to my order?
No I don’t but it’s extremely easy
When setting the battery charger, can you have it at 15amps? My charger doesn’t have a 10 amp setting and I don’t want to blow anything if that’s too much amperage.
Hello, just ordered my bundle, does it matter if you leave the tuner on or not??
Hello. Nice video. Do you think the kit would work on a 2016 ram 2500?
Here is the link for the 2013-2018 ram kit. The install will be very similar as well. shrsl.com/49ixn
it might cost 2.3k dollars but i guarantee it saves more than that from avoided break downs and dead engines
Facts
If leaving the egr cooler on, would you have to use any of the hardware provided or just the exhaust and sensors? Thank you.
1. “No em” stands for no emissions, so that would be if you wanted to delete the egr/dpf/def
So this would be the same on a 2021?
Happy Holiday!!! Please fo more video for L5p haha
I’ll try to get a kit for an L5P for a video!
Thank you so much for this information! 👍👍
Same Process for a turbo back exhaust right? Just gotta take the exhaust piece that connects to the turbo
Yup
if i switch out the entire exhaust like you did will that sort of delete the truck if i disconnect all the sensors
Do the 2022 Cummins delete kit
I will! Soon
@@darkirondieselI have a 2022 2500 is that the same as the 3500 you did?
Their kit will be different, main thing is tuning. I had to ship my ecm away, with the diesel dudes kit you don’t have to do that. I’ll be getting a kit soon here to make a video on.
@@darkirondiesel thank you so much my man.
What ECU profile or tune do you like the most for this truck?
Kyle, great content as always 👍 love your little helper🐶 22 L5P Please
So many people are asking for an L5P video! I’ll see if I can make it happen!
19:36 do you have to unplug the EGR? What happens if you don’t, if you want to keep EGR?
@Dark Iron Diesel did you get that bypass cable in your kit or did you order a separate one?
It comes with the kit I linked in description!
Thank you
Yes in my experience you always unplug the throttle valve.
the level of detail in this Video 🫡 thank you sir for the commitment
The sound of freedom 26:47
Could you run the truck tuned for a couple days before installing the delete kit?
Yeah just try not to drive it that much
Do you still have to use the tow/haul button after you delete 6.7L 4x4?
@darkirondiesel
Is there a parameter on the ez lynk app that actually confirms which power level you selected with the SOTF or to know for sure your sotf is working besides feeling it?
Will the exhaust kit mess with the exhaust brake in any way?
Nope, your exhaust brake will still work after.
If I already have a tune and I want to put an auto agent do I have to remove the old tune or can I just install the new one?
So do have to do anything with the DEF? Just drain tank?
I really WONDER how long till bad old EPA discover this guy????
