Honestly, the first time I saw her all those years ago she was just eh for me, but when I saw her robbing Tengen Myo'o then I thought "Wow, she's probably one of the elite-class! She's gonna be hard to take down man". And I remember the moment I saw her becoming a zombie instead of staying dead, I was like; "What?! Seriously?! Cap. Komamura had to sacrifice everything just to beat her up and now she's on her foot again?? This is not a good situation"

I always found it weird that the Sternritters lacked a sense of brotherhood or comradery given that they are this army unified by heritage and pride. Also they've seemingly been together for a very long time so you would think they'd have deeper bonds. Also I completely didn't remember that stuff with Bambi luring men into her quarters and killing them...what the heck lol. Good video as always

The Arrancars had more unity that the Sternritters. Whenever I think of that, I really do wonder how they functioned as an organisation, when a collection of beings that preyed on each other had more cohesion than all these quncies. Baffling really.

All characters in bleach are loyal to their nature to some degree and thats one of the points of bleach.
The sternritter were a different breed. They were almost enslaved to their schrift, so much that it tapped into their very nature. So they've seen each other only to the degree measured through their powers, a very narrow perception.

I really didn't like how the quincies ended up being just another group of sociopaths, I mean you'd think they'd act more like a tight mafia family based on how they've been genocided but they don't even flinch at Giselle turning one of their own into some kind of zombie sex doll. Oof! Even Nnoitra showed concern for his underling right before Kenpachi cut him down.
Wow that’s a good point, yeah those girls really don’t have any redeeming qualities about them. It shows more a hole in kubo’s writing as he could have elaborated more on why they felt the way they did about bambi and how they could just be cool with letting her get turnt into.........that!
Really? I think it makes perfect sense that they are the craziest bunch in all of bleach considering how they behaved and destroyed the balance of the universe. They were killed because of their crazy behaviour in the first place. Your logic makes no sense. And why the word another? Espadas and Fullbringers were mostly intelligent people.
Another because sociopaths can be intelligent people ; I mean more than that sociopaths tend to be really smart people and you just have to watch character like Aizen, Gin, Ulquiorra or Tsukishima to see that we already had a lot of smart sociopaths. I pretty with him on his take, that would have been good to have them as a solid group because fullbringer were one but too weak.
They wanted to genocide an entire group for something that happened a millenium ago. Sociopathy was necessary
The Dream girl you wanna be with. Although her character was cruel I believe it was also very COOL and INTERESTING character. The "Rivalry" between her and Komamura was well setup as Komamura wanting to avenge Yama-jii and Bambietta carrying on the duties while being cruel.
I mean didn't she literally kill a Sternritter guy seconds after she came when he fucked her ? And candice said that this is a habit of hers. Hardly "dream girl you wanna be with" if you ask me. (Edit: as Tommo says around 6:20)

Wasn’t Bambi nerfed due to Zombie (lack of sudden/fast reflexes) Because it was revealed when she turned Toshiro into a zombie he had so much better speed, reflex and strength because he wasn’t completely dead but on the verge of it.

I was secretly hopping that Mayuri would break the control on Bambietta and let her be the one who finishes Giselle ending her own torment as a zombie and the one who did that to her. It would have been nice if this was done by blowing up half of Giselle's body as a call back to Mayuri's first fight. BTW, I don't hate Giselle, I just think it would have been fitting.
That was about what I was expecting to happen throughout the whole 'Marching Out the Zombies' nonsense. Ah, the road not taken.

The novels show that she has Stockholm syndrome for giselle and not brainwashed her submissive side is her real personality

I don't know what it was about Bambietta that drew me to her as a character. The design and voice actor helped, sure. But I watched that Shinji fight scene about 1,000 times and have since been watching Bleach religiously.
I think the interesting part of Bambi's character and this goes for a lot of the Sternritter is that they're without a doubt a product of their environments. Most of them are being who they have to be, instead of who they might have wanted to be. I think Bambi specifically wanted to be someone with friends she could rely on, but had no idea that her bloodthirsty sadistic streak was keeping them at arms length the whole time. How could any of them get close enough to truly have her back when there's always this tension that she could kill them at any time? Her strength and behavior worked against her so hard and I doubt she would've been that way without her upbringing in the Vandenreich. Imagine her as a Shinigami instead, she would've probably been a perfect fit in the 11th division.
Anyway, she's best girl for me fosho and I've gotten over the horrific things Kubo did to her. And without a doubt, I could DEFINITELY fix her.

She sure fell hard. Went from being a kill hungry blood knight and near serial killer(regarding her 'relief') to a PTSD riddled zombie totally submissive towards Giselle. It's interesting her story is one of the few times wherein PTSD is explicitly implied in series(unless I'm missing some others, please correct me). Given most of the combat involves gory slashing/stabbing up close and personal with an opponent you'd think it'd be addressed more than the subtle implications.
Near? She was a serial killer, kubo went very easy on the character
Nnoitra had a relationship with Nelliel that involved PTSD in a way. And after what he and Szayelaporo did to her, she was the one who got PTSD. Barragan was a big one too, towards Aizen.
Uryu could be said to have PTSD as well I suppose, given the lengths he was willing to go are very uncharacteristic for him. And definitely involving his father too.
And finally, Tousen towards the Soul Society.
@@hitkid2456 True. The same is certainly true for Shunsui given he drinks himself into a stupor, there's no doubt he partook in the Quincy genocide attempts. Even his philosophical outlook on evil and good where not enough to rationalize what happened so he takes to the bottle to muddle and forget.

I always thought that the lack of caring within the Sternritter was used to juxtapose them to the Gotei. The Gotei were brought together to form a stable base on which to maintain the Status Quo; so the focus is on stability, allegiance and loyalty. The Wandenreich was created purely as a vehicle to get Ywach to the Soul King; so the focus is purely on individual power and the ability to create chaos. Yamamoto deliberately fostered bonding and cooperation between the Squads, where Ywach deliberately fostered competition and antagonism between the Sternritter.
And as sad as it was, I think the Zombie strength reduction was necessary to give a reason for Ywach not just murdering all of the Sternritter and feeding them to Giselle to create an immortal, unquestioning army. Which he absolutely would have done if being Zombified didn't come with a serious strength reduction. That and to set up just how fucked up Giselle actually is; for the start of Mayuri's big character development arc.

Actually my favorite of the Bambies. She was a sadist and a tyrant, but she had some kind of personality. The fact i didn't like about her is the thing that she was cut too early from the show, and than returned as Gissele's slave. Do not see a problem with her as a slave, it was a nice way of Gissele's revenge. I do not like she spent more time as a slave than as a Bambietta.
I also dislike her "fight" with Shinji, Hirako deserved more.
Everything else is great about her. And she is in top half of Sternritters by strength.
I think that the last arc of bleach wasted a lot of cool character like bambietta

From the way Bambietta bullies her subordinates, she probably had some kind of abusive relationship with Giselle (and the other girls). Giselle then decided to take revenge, reversing the situation. I find the story very tragic, but I really like both characters a lot, despite people hating it (I have personal reasons for that). They are my favorite quincys actually, along with Bass B.
Hey man watching video after video problem over 24 hours in the last week easily jus listening and watching your videos alot of great content thanks.
Personally, she is my favorite Sternritter, her power wasn't complex, but it was cool and strong, her appearence is fine (waifu worthy), her personality was fine, and having her own personal group made her seem like a more interesting character, the problem with Bambietta (for me atleast) was that her fight with Komamura was at the start of the arc, then after that she passed from one of the Quincies with the biggest spotlight to a zombie, if this happened differently, like Gisselle having more of a spotlight, while Bambi is like a subordinate to her and once she loses she is zombiefied, it would've made a lot more sense to me, but having her established, giving her a good win against someone as strong as Shinji and then dissapearing as a character... It wasn't good, personally, I always thought that she looked more like the classical villain-turns-into-ally kind of character, like Grimmjow, Renji or even Bazz-B to some degree, the worst part is that even her fight with Komamura feels less important once you realize that Komamura also dissapears forever as a character after the battle, so these felt like two characters who Kubo thought he wouldn't need for the rest of the arc, so he had to dispose of them both.
I’ve always said bambi did seem like a character like grimmjow where she goes from villian to pseudo ally (to ichigo probably). It really felt like she was going that route, especially if she could’ve gotten restored from the zombification. Tho Kubo just seemed more interested in trolling her than giving her any good writing, unfortunately.
She's too evil for all that, she got what she deserved anyway.

Canonically, Bambi was drastically nerfed because she was dead. Quincies cant be taken over until they are killed first.
Toshiro was still alive so he retained his power level.
Im just shocked in general with the treatment because she seemed to be one of the most powerful sternritters. I assumed at first that the first few were the best of the quincies so when Ywach arrived in the soul king palace I was shocked to see the elite guattñrds he had, cuz I assumed thar they were all taken out minus Uryuu and Haschwalth
Hey mrtommo! Wondering what you thought on orihime's powers, wether she falls into the fullbringer category as it was never stated how she was able to manifest the characters she could use which was shown in the original arc and then never shown after. Was her fairy companions still there when using abilities etc
I remember being super disappointed in the direction her character went.
At first I wasn’t to invested in her character, but after her conversation with the other qincy girls I became a lot more interested. As you said Bambiettas concern about the Vandenreichs direction could have been really interesting and I remember thinking that maybe Bambietta together with her crew would try to claim the throne for herself and fight either uryu or haschwalth later in the arc, or maybe actually back haschwalth and try putting hin on the throne instead of uruy.
But instead the next time we see her she loses to Komamura, and gets zombified. That scene also sums up my biggest problem with the Sternritter, that there is no comradery and they just keep backstabbing each other.
Which is why they all deserved what they got.

What would you say about disscusing a scenerio in which Aizen agreed to join Yhwach when they met in Muken? There are some interesting ideas worth discussing, naming a few:
- Would Yhwach free Azien completely (all of his seals) or keep him restrained to some degree fearing his powers?
- How would their dynamic be like? Just constant exchanges of false flattery, Aizen openly addmiting to Yhwach about his plans to betray him latter on, or something else entirely? (When we got their interacion at the end of the series it was captivating but sill pretty straight forward since they were just about to fight).
- How would Yhwach try to utilise Aizen? What would he have him do? Does Yhwach even know about Hogyoku?
- How would Aizen's interactions with all the Sternritters look like? Big room for some great banter and Aizen's trademark trolling.
- Would Aizen play along until they got to Soul King? If yes, what then?
- In what fashion would the betrayal occure?
- And would we see Aizen low-diffing majority of Quincies like he did to Gotei in false Karakura? Or maybe under certain circumstances would we see Aizen stand agains Shinigami once again (and handing their asses to them again).
Certainly, you would have much more to add to it and expand upon. Thanks once again and keep up the great work.

There is logic behind Charlotte Chuhlhourne able to beat bambietta surprisingly well. Remember hollows are like poison to Quincys must have caused her reiatsu to deplete.
On the damage the Arrancarr did: Remember; Hollows are like Poison to Quincy. So they probobly take a lot more damage from Ceros and such than a Shinigami would.
Yeah and I hope the anime does a better job of pointing this out. There is even a part where Ichigo's hollow powers are taken by a quincy and that quincy is completely fine afterwards.

Or that may have been a weakness unique to him regardless of godhood. In any case, it was strange to me how those events played out and how underused the quincy weakness was

I know I'm 2 years late, but maybe Kubo could've made a spin off manga/ a compilation of short stories for each of the sternritter's backstories. I have a book where some of Edgar Allen Poe's work were done in comic book/manga format, and I thought it was done pretty well. It's just an Idea, but I think this could've fleshed out the sternritter characters as a whole...
I actually really liked Bambietta, I haven't read into the TYBW arc myself, but seeing her be treated like that really just hit me weird.

It's human nature to see a young life as innocent & feeling bad if harm comes to them.
Although I think you'll only say "Oh, it was disapointing", I REALLY need a Shiji Hirako character analysis! He was always one of my favorites, his slick design was always stunning to me, I really wanted to see more of him, but what I saw was satisfyng and I really wanna see what're your thoughts about him and his Bankai. And in regards to the video, I never gave too much attention to Bambietta, she was kind of a shallow character to me, I just don't like the "mean girl" trope when it doesn't have like, a cool twist, although after your analysis, kinda like her funny bits, but one thing I always thought about her and the other girls, is that they were like, that group of popular girls, like the Mean Girls movie, were Bambieta is like, the popular girl and the other ones walk with her and listen to her cause she's powerfull and stuff, but they don't really like each other, they're there just cause, well, they seem to be the only females on the Sternritter and cause well, no problem beng around other girls. I dk excatly how to explain it, but like, all of them were there just cause Bambietta was the popular one, or the "strongest" so they pretend to be good friends, but at the bottom of their hearts the girls really didn't liked her. When I saw the notification I was kinda shocked, like "There's things to analyse about her?" but watching the video, you gave me good points to ook for when I re-read Bleach again, keep the amazing work. AND PLEASE, tell me someday where do you find those colored early chapters of Bleach!

I think it's sad that Bambietta ended up as Giselle's slave, Giselle is definitely a dictator when it comes to the zombies that are under her control (except maybe when it comes to Toshiro, i don't know if it's because of a lack of disappointment or not), in Bambietta's case Giselle gives her a hard time to prove her power over Bambietta, which I think is exactly why Bambietta was so afraid of becoming a zombie in the first place, but despite the abuse and superiority Giselle is in love with Bambietta, but also wants to keep her under her control, like a waifu without free will, I really wish that someone had freed Bambietta from that abusive dictatorship, or at least make a filler episode giving her a backstory of some kind (what i'd make Bambietta's backstory: imagine Bambietta growing up and living a normal life (Quincys are humans after all), eventually Bambietta falls in love with some rando boy, but then one day suffers abuse from his' side and they break up (giving her a fear of being controlled and a habit of backstabbing guys), she'd then only ever put her trust in her friends, eventually she'd meet Yhwach and learn about her powers, dedicating herself to being a Sternritter so that no one would ever have control over her ever again)
That would definitely be nice, but unfortunately .... It will not happen 😢

My thoughts on what her backstory is like, is that I imagine Bambietta living as a slave/ one of the poor...hence why she offered up her body numerous times like it was normal..., eventually she was bought/sold off to some young handsome rich man, she was most likely charmed by him and thought it was the only way to escape that hellish life, but the guy was probably an abusive controlling wolf hiding in a kind gentle sheep's clothing, and after a few months/years of abuse Bambietta just Snapped and her quincy powers had awakened for the first time. She soon became a fugitive, and was living on the run for while until she met Yhwach, and after some charismatic conversation between them later, she joined Yhwach's army, and quickly rose to the rank of sternritter E...
Why? She deserved it.
Her last scene was straight up having her mutilated corpse violated by Giselle, I think she deserves a better closure than that, i hope TYBW anime can do something about it
I thought her explosions were pretty understandable- Whenever anything (person, object, etc) comes into contact with her reishi, she can infuse her reishi into it, which causes that thing to become a bomb. It's like [Killer Queen] if only Kira's aura had to touch the target, when she infuses her reishi into something, that thing gains an explosive charge and can be detonated by her at will. The times she'd sent her reishi out as a projectile was her arrows with the explode ability applied to them, so instead of piercing a target, they fuse into them, making whatever's struck a bomb which then explodes.

@@ctfbffsby That's not really a plot hole though, in a shounen series it's pretty fair to asume that a character from an earlier arc will be stronger when they appear later on. Grimmjow and Nel also follow that rule.

I have a very weird theory and I could be reading into this a bit too deep. But what if and it is a big what if, Bambietta was like a metaphor for how he felt Kubo was being treated when making this Bleach arc. Because I know Kubo was sick both physically and mentally when writing this story and it seems like he was pushed way beyound what he wanted to do. So I could imagine Bambietta being a sort of representation of a young person who stood out and got well liked, underperformed at one point and then was forced like a zombie to contie his work even though he felt lifeless and physically drained from all the energy to make something reach its full potential and then get chucked aside. Now I know this could be way to coincidental but maybe just maybe it could have some merrit on how and why Bambietta was was treated. Maybe Kubo uncounscioalsy wanted to air out his frustrations through Bambietta and her story arc. I don't know what you guys think. I may just be reading too deep into this.
Giselle and Bambi are definitely gonna be censored to hell and back in the anime. Their relationship in the manga alone is enough to make my gut wrench.
The way they handled her after her fight with komamora was disrespectful. They made her character essentially a mind broken slave.

I'm not saying that it always works perfectly or that it can't be disappointing when a character you like gets shafted but the plot but it always seems either unrealistic or narcissistic when readers 1, decide how peoples values & their circumstances should be in a fictional world & therefor 2, how the Author (you know, the person who created said world & its inhabitants) should value & portray them.
I'm not slating your analysis & somewhat agree with the 2nd part & that being BamBine would suck, it's the "they... ...disrespectful" part that's like how some One Piece fans gripe about Oda "disrespecting" Big Mom. Authors have no obligation to, nor should they "respect" their characters any more than they do by the time, care & attention they give them by creating them in the1st place. Unless "they" meant the characters but why would anyone but her BFFs respect the cute female equivalent Geoffrey Dharma?

I never thought I'd see the day, but I do hope they add some fillers to the anime to flesh out the characters and give them a more concrete personality/history. I get why Kubo couldn't - rushed & exhausted - but hopefully that will be remedied in the anime. Bambietta was one of the more confusing characters to follow. I feel she had too many contradictions.
I believe the reason for why zombie Hitsugaya didn't lose strength because there were no statements about spiritual pressure being diminished

the names “sternritter”, “zweihander”, and “volstandig” some like something straight out my nightmares especially when seeing them for the first time in first three episodes of Bleach: A Thousand Years Blood War. So when i first saw the sadistic dominant fascist mommy named “Bambietta Basterbine”, and saw her wicked smile whilst committing mass genocide: my heart honestly clung to the character as a warm comfort.
Yes, Candice Catnipp, Inoue Orhime, Rukia, Catlady, and Full Power Nel are cool, yet Bambietta Basterbine just felt so authentic and wicked: And CONFIDENT!

Bambietta is one of my favorite Sternritters (the others being Bazz-B and Askin)! I love her! I was intrigued by her when I first saw her in the trailer for TYBW and when I finally decided to read the arc, I actually really liked her! Her being Sternritter E “The Explode” fits her explosive personality! Hopefully we get some backstory on her in the anime! IMO, she was done so dirty by being turned into a zombie by Giselle. It will ALWAYS be f*ck Giselle because of that! Especially with the way she treated her afterwards! Giselle ain’t sh*t! The way the rest of the girls abandoned my girl was so uncool! Bambietta was Quincy-girl magic and they were jealous of her! 😭😂😭😂

Your feelings about her are exactly the same as mine. Some people try to read too deep into her and say stuff her zombie self was her inner self in it's purest form and say she was actually a masochist and i am like "what????" I think she just dreaded death so much she got PTSD frok komamura but now has to live under Giselle or she dies. It's sad they didn't do much with her. She is a girl that dreaded death so much. In a story about death itself I wish they did more with her. But i guess we have yhwach for that? But she could have still been used to contrast him and the other quincies. Maybe her character being conquering her fear and that's what helps ichigo to beat yhwach or something. It's sad the route her character went but it is what it is

its pretty much what you would expect of a necromancer type character.
Sure she can really love an individual "zombie" in her group, but doing any damage or even destroying them holds little meaning aside form establishing dominance, as she can just bring them back whenever.

As for her being so weak while under Giselle's control; it's possible that Giselle's powers depower those she controls or at least it doesn't work properly on Quincies. Or perhaps she the controlled ones lose power over time.
When zombies have been revived (or were dying) they become weaker. When they are transformed fully alive, they have the same strength.
