You should test it with the latest update, as there's a Linear Lens Mod 2.0 mode now. I'm also interested in how the regular linear mode looks like. Currently I use Go Pro Hero 7 Black with PeauPro87 3.37mm lens, which does not have any distortion, slight loss of field of view but it's so tiny. But I've been told by Peau Productions that you can't change lenses on the newer Gopros as they have glued them on so well. But if 12 actually has a proper linear mode where there is no distortion, problem is solved. But during the winter I can't use Hero 7 as batteries last only few seconds in -1C, and it's down to -10C trough a lot of time in the winter. But 4 Session can handle that. but it's 1080p and has distortion.

I can see expert eyes 😎, this was with the horizon levelling on OFF, that also surprised me because that means that there is a standard and not removable horizon lock: a bit disappointed because I like more the standard feeling without horizon lock
I'm quite happy with the Max Lens Mod. I found the distortion to be not too bad expecially with the chin mount. I will give cropping in a try next time. However cropping also means loosing a bit of image quality since your editing software will have to compensate for the fewer pixels (provided you still export 4K). Some editing software are good on that but you have to keep that in mind.
So you bought a new camera, a new mod, and after that you have to edit the video to make it watchable. WTF? :D If I buy a camera for photographing or an action camera for mtb riding, I don't want any post process editing, because cutting a video ALONE is really time consuming.
Yes, for users that need the raw file without editing definitely not the best camera, in this case the DJI Action 4 fits much better with its ultrawide with low distortion 👌🏻
@@OresteCiotoli I think Gopro 7 was already a good camera. But they changed almost everything for 8. When I switched to DJI 2 I had to sell almost every accessory. Now I don't know where we are, but I like this older cam. ^^ Making 4K videos is nice, but the editing process is slower (you need a strong computer) and most people still don't have 4k displays. And a bunch of people are using phones for youtube, where even the 1080p is too much. :O
the hyperview is definitely a good option, also considering that the max lens mod has its cost. But also in that case the video looks a bit strange with the distortion, probably without lens mod on the hero 12 i would have pick the DJI Action 4 😃 Did you consider the DJI camera?
