- The BMW IX2 is designed for people who want something slightly practical, kind of posh, and makes a real statement about it's bold design. Is it any good? Rory finds out.

I am so proud of BMW for employing blind people in their vehicle design department.
Very inclusive hahaha
🤣
which results in a car that exudes diversity... divers front back and sides
🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate BMW helping people save their money in these difficult times by making cars no one wants to buy. Bravo!
Only except it hasn’t stopped people buying them. BMW are doing just fine. Maybe they know something we don’t.
@@joebloggs4191 a few people bought Dodge Hornets as well, let’s see how the numbers look.
@@S8ER That was my point, the numbers are looking good!
@@joebloggs4191 shocking… I guess they have some kind of market out there, we talking 10k units here?
Actually the BMW group sold 2.555.341 cars in 2023.
This is +6.5% and a new record!
BMW is again number one in the premium segment world wide.
Love the sense of humor in the video! More of it please 😊
Feels like the original top gear episodes 🥹
🤣🤣🤣
Second that 😂
The money jokes killed me 😂😂😂
Well the motoring press have been doing that for decades when you see some of the POS that have won CoTY over the years
BMW is becoming increasingly "irritating"
true
Irritating who, because in as much as you say that BMW is in the top 10 world wide on car sales and the only other German brand is VW in the top 10, so if BMW is doing so well then why must they stop?
@@Gaming_kids699they won't be doing it for long though! Doing like this!!
How did they go from the e92 one of the most beautiful cars ever, to this...
😂😂
Rory is absolutely killing it, one of the funniest car reviews ive seen ever. Well done
Give Rory and Oscar, a Pulitzer, a Gerald Loeb, an Emmy , a Reading Rainbow, one of the Publishers Clearinghouse giant checks, whatever you have Rory deserves it for a history of humorous and detailed reviews. Thanks for hiring him
Best car review I've seen in a long time. Deserves a car review OsCAR
Hahaha, that first second completely sums up BMW’s design philosophy for the last few decades😂
E39, E46 and e90 bag to differ
G20/G21 pre lci is a beauty and great to drive
The i3 / i8 were potentially a game changer for BMW, they have rapidly gone in reverse…..
That intro was absolutely golden!!!
Never seen big man have so much fun with a review 😂
you had me at Skoda Enyuck 😀😀😀
It's like if the X6 and X4 had a baby
In a Beijing hotel
Poor child...
... with a face that only a mother could love! 😁
@@TehMrlmao 😂
More like Rosemary’s Baby…
🤣🤣🤣🤣 your face when she started talking was hilarious!!
Probably one of the funniest videos I’ve ever seen😂.
The design I love, everyone complains about how vehicles are becoming homogenized, yet they complain about this when it’s expressive and out there, you really can’t please em all.
You don't need to be so hard on someone's eyes to stand out.
They could really have been a bit visually 'pleasant' about their approach...
Best intro to a review of any modern BMW ever.
too bad nobody will use the turn signals ever lol
They are so far out in front of everyone, you just can't see their signals!
Oh my gosh, Rory...
You had me literally in stitches with your opening 'barf-into-a-bucket'...!! 🤣
Oh and I've just finally worked out which other car the 'extrovert design' styling of this X2 reminds me of - the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback...! 😳
Well done, BMW... you've launched a car that's already 16 years out-of-date...
At least the Lancer Sportback looked half decent.
Great review. I prefer your laid back style. Much funnier.
😂
Sadly; It´s been a while since a see a really nice looking BMW.
8 Series is pretty nice
@@Pato-ot3hfthey haven’t redesigned it… yet
X3, X5, X7, 3 Series
@@Fabulousprofound168 It'll take a while; big coupes aren't exactly flying off the lot these days
For me the last good looking BMW was the G30 5 series
”I digress..”😂😅, I see what you did there!😂
Just brilliantly done. We need more of these reviews. And I hope Rory gets some eye-candy to review next time.
That was a very entertaining car review. Well done 🙌🏽😅
This was a blast to watch 😂😂😂.
Thank you so much 😊
Actually it's quite interesting who are BMW's main customers nowadays. Cheap inside, ugly outside. Far away when they hooked me. But I'm half century age. I grew up with E28, E30, E32, E34, E36, E39 and last ones were E46 and E60. After that this brand started to look too bad for my eyes and stomach.
The e92 was a good looking car too, even today i think the LCI one has aged well, few cosmetic mods and it can be a headturner
i agree as my last car was a 68 plate 320 shadow edition last of its shape. loved the shape, loved the car and eventually the no feel steering, i got used too. after 4 years they wanted £200 a month more to replace it. Now they want us to pay for ugly and overpriced non rear wheel drive cars. unfortunately the basic price is unbelievably expensive and most extras that are standard on other cars and are only accessed on additional subscription's via Apps. Seriously disappointed as i've always been a fan. 😢
Love the honest review
You gave me a good laugh, thank you Rory
Probably the most hilarious car review I have ever seen. Great touch! 🤣
Best car review I have seen in a long time.
😂😂😂😂the money joke, had my ribs hurting. What a great review!
Funny and informative review. Good job
Loved loved this review. Wish I could like it more than once...I've watched it 3 times already 😂
Another great review Rory.
Rory equals legend 😂
Great review Rory, you deserve that bmw you reviewed 😂😂😂
Kidding you deserve an Oscar level award
We've had BMW's for the last 19 years, the current one being the previous generation X1 25e M Sport. All have been great. However, I just don't get SUV Coupes and hate that BMW has followed the other sheep and done away with physical controls for audio and climate. What's that nice watch Rory?
8:20 Love that clip from ground-level! So beautiful to watch!!
Criticism on exterior design was very funny & interesting.
Love your jumper 👑
Now that I own an iX2, I can confirm this is a very biased review. Really fun to watch and enjoyed a lot though. For example, AC/heater doesn't blow very fast, but it can get super cold or super hot so it doesn't need to. It is a lot more comfortable when air isn't blasting at your face but can still change temperature inside the car very quickly. The car looks beautiful and stands out compared to electric cars without a grill. I would say, you need to see it in person.
No vinyl roof?
I had to laugh out loud because of the intro :D Please never change
Brilliant video 😊
The usual excellent video Rory but i have to disagree about the iX2's looks, it just seems unresolved, not ugly but just not right and I'm no fan of the interiors on the latest BM's either
Because it’s unresolved, it’s ugly. Is that better? 😭
4:00 that’s not rust… it’s a “sacrificial surface coating to protect nonessential components” 🙃
Rory you are awesome 🙌
Wow! Rust on a brand new car? 😂
German Engineering I guess
Was it a cost option.
@@brianiswrong😂😂😂😂 good one
@@brianiswrong probably a 2K option. 🤣
In Belgium BMW is the most popular brand. It's scary driving on their roads knowing so many blind people driving there.
Only because they are all company cars, otherwise you'd see far less
Big 4 consultancy companies leasing in bulk
😂😂😂 “so many blind people driving there” brilliant comment. Can’t stop laughing.
@@user-ru2he7tm2t indeed, there is a Deloitte branch close to my workplace, juniors now all drive VW id3 instead of Mini's and 2nd level employees have X1 , seniors have 3 series
@@WBO-lp3cp They’ve been stepping up their game it seems. A few years ago they were handing out Toyota Corolla I think
Had a good laugh....great review😂
Love this review 😂🫶
10/10 fantastic review!😂
Your center air vent was closed mate… slide the air controller to the side to open that up… lightens up the sound as well as actually lets it flow.
Less than 1 minute in and I'm 😂😂😂😂
Lovely review
That EV tech at £50,000 isn't competitive, so it'll need to simply be a better car.
Unsure how this competes with a used i4 or IX1/3. I wont even mention Kia/Hyundai at 10k less
Rory, I usually reserve judgement until I see a car IRL. I'm rather afraid to see it IRL. This from a guy that bought an E30 325is back in the day while others were buying Camaros, Firebirds and Mustangs... The E30 grew on me over time and the way it drove and handled, even compared to contemporary Corvettes was amazing. This one looks, well, unfortunate.
He must love the XM's design
Really good review and video - thank you for sharing. Agreed this car looks strikingly like a Skoda with the centre bonnet troughing. It baffles me why BMW have chinched on the rear seat space - why would they do that? You made some good observations about the interior design and I wonder how much influence came from China where people tend to be physically smaller than many Europeans and North Americans. We have an X3 M40i and the rear seats are a cramped when we are travelling as a family (5) with three passengers in the back. I like the single cell phone clamp idea and wish we had something like that as well as a second spot for my missus to put her cell phone instead of upright in the cup holders. Another oversight. Overall, I will not be looking at the iX2 despite your glowing review. The software looks too busy, lacks elegance and I have learned to my chagrin, once you buy a BMW and drive away; you are stuck with the software you have until the end. They create updates but make up excuses NOT to update existing vehicle iDrive systems saying they are unable to create new versions without conflicts. I find that pathetic.
Have just realised what the shape of those tail lights reminds me of: it's the blue inserts on R2-D2's body.
@11:45 The iX2 wants you to appreciate art and yet leaves the factory looking like this.
Is the steering girth really that large or do we just have small hands?
I actually quite like the car, think its definitely an improvement compared to the last version...
11:20 One of the mymode “engine noise” sounds like the THX sound
The air speed will get better if you change the distribution to focus on the head and not use it together with windscreen and feet.
Finally someone
Just what I was thinking. My current car is the same if feet, head and wind screen are used at the same time
But does it have a seat whoopee cushion setting?
I find it fascinating. The subjective opinions of design. I have always been an Audi fan and have owned many over the last 20 years or so. I was never a fan of the old BMW "design language." Now, Ironically, when the masses are slating BMW for their bold diversion with the design language. I find myself jumping ship from Audi. We traded the Audi for the X4M Competition. And now Im trading the VW in for one of these! I absolutely love what BMW has done over the last couple of years or so. Very bold and brave. The exact opposite of Audi, in my opinion. The brand new Q5 has exactly the same interior as my old one from 2018. I feel Audi are dragging their heels with innovation at the moment. whereas BMW is throwing away the conventional and embracing new design and innovation. It seems that everything that people hate about this car is what I like about it. Make sense of that 😂🤷♂️🤦♂️
Loved the money joke! Rory carried it brilliantly 😂😂😂😂
Ahahahahahahaha, that intro is f*cking perfect, thanks for the laugh mate
I love the look tbh. Pity on the lack of space in the back row
The most honest car review. Hands downn
😂 the money parts @2:09 🤣🤣🤣 @14:35
I just hope BMW's styling department got a good redundancy package!
Bad an IX1 30xdrive Msport on hire for 2 months....was great to drive and felt extremely well built. Prefer older Idrive system from 2016
i'm not even looking to buy an ix2 but this video is entertaining af :)
Is it basically identical to the iX1 except for the shape?
This is best car review I seen so far hehe and I will never understand why someone would choice any electric BMW over a Tesla no contest there
Maybe because one would never buy a Tesla, even if it would be better car of the two!?
10:17 mans be good at what mans does 😅
Such a good looking car
Car looks good to me honestly I usually don’t like BMWs designs historically. Also I love thick steering wheels. Love sports backs as well. The rest of the issues I can’t argue those are problem’s
Great, funny test
The money 💴 envelope ✉️ 😂😂😂
I quiet like the X2. Great little fun runabout for errands.
2:28 - Just say that again, for a 2 series BMW prices start at just over 50 grand !!!
The back reminds me of the Alfa Romeo Alfasud of 1979!
The folks running bmw and merc are lucky the companies are still getting to live off their strong reputations and history from when they were wuality products back in the day. otherwise nobody would bother to touch them
They are getting away with it because the new competition like MG and a Tesla make usable cars but with cheap design cabins. Once they go a bit “luxury” , BMW has a big problem. Luckily for BMW, Tesla will always want to cut costs.
@jimpackard8059 Mazda and Kia are starting to address this.
May you should Turn on the AC while your driving... Like at "old" Cars, AC is only Blasting full Air while driving.
This video is so entertaining 😂
Saw one on the road and really find it striking. Not ugly but definitely different from the norms. BMW designs seems to grow on you as time pass.
It looks fabulous, even online.
Compared to the new BMW M2 this looks like a masterpiece
12:31 HILARIOUS! 😂
the fact that I actually love the way it looks lol
I think it look mint in that M sport trim
Ahahaha nice entertaining review. 12:35
12:30 kill me 😂😂😂😂
In person these cars look great, especially in storm bay grey.
Mates 3 Series is gorgeous to look but so awkward to get into the back in surprisingly small, this looks way small inside for the exterior
Imho with such a small battery and slow charging it is a competition for city cars like Volvo EX30 or Smart #1 and not for something like Tesla model Y.
0:06 loool. Deserves all the likes in the world!
Wasn't looking closely, thought it was a Skoda enyaq. Definitely going to be a recurring theme
No iDrive … really hope they realise soon that that’s not a brilliant move! We have 1 series (f40) here at home, love the buttons and the occasional use of touch screen.
