Of the three big German car brands (Audi, Mercedes, and BMW), Audi has by far the best-looking electric cars. You can tell they are having fun designing them.
Irony is BMW EVs tend to look better than the ICE version. Because they attempt to hide the Pig Nose and less wild wacky styling.
@@Neojhun Those on the i4, iX and i7 are just as big
Agreed
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but whilst I appreciate the Audi looks efficient, I don't think it's as good looking as the BMW i5 but the Mercedes EQE/EQS are much better looking, albeit they don't offer estate versions and I don't like their SUV versions.
True specifically in EVs
Wagon Name In BMW: Touring
Wagon Name In Audi: Avant
Wagon Name In British: Estate
English, not British!
@@wabwee60 The U.S. and Canada also speak English and its wagon here. So British is somewhat accurate.
What it should be is:
Estate name in BMW: Touring
Estate name in Audi: Avant
Estate name in USA: Wagon
But as Mr. Reid is obsessed with America and everything American, he has forgotten that he is actually English, so has subsequently decided to adopt and apply Americanisms whenever and wherever he can.

This feels like an ad rather than a review.
Novelty of EV's is wearing thin these days, but I think something with bigger implications might be happening, which is a mutual silent majority coming to a conclusion that cars with internal combustion engines represent a more exciting and involved driver-oriented experience than any EV is capable of replicating. The lack of sound doesn't attract onlookers and once the silence of an EV becomes commonplace and no longer represents wealth they will be about as attractive to the ladies as pulling up in a golf cart. EV's have many benefits but I don't see how they could ever be more scintillating than something mechanical.
I don't think you grasp what is going on with EVs. They will replace ICE cars because governments collectively decided to mandate this shift. Manufacturers aren't switching to EVs by choice but are doing so under duress. By 2035 new ICE cars will be banned in Asia and Europe. Manufacturers don't have an incentive to continue to develop ICE cars because of upcoming bans.
That’s because wagons are perfection.
I disagree
Nuh uh, a positive review doesn't mean it's an ad.
John was like F it I'm out😆
@@lwandondimba6566 tbh I would've too, the whole call I was just thinking "why is he telling him all this?"
"Er... thanks Rory. When do I get my car?" 🤣
John the car winner must’ve thought he’d been pranked. 😂
As a repeated BMW owner I am leaning more towards Audi’s current line up.
They really are knocking it out of the ballpark.
Well, I guess as a BMW user you're used to shi**y interiors, so you'll feel just like home. Huge downgrade from previous generations
@@NurislamPopov not a smart guy hating on someones choices
The estate configuration is just the better option for people who need more space - especially in an EV.
I'd go Estate over SUV any day. No performance compromises (vs. a saloon) like you get in an SUV. Just a longer roof line.
This one is especially good looking.
Bring back estates!
Estate Wagon is also more aero efficient thus better range for a BEV. Especially a low sleek sport wagon.
I love wagons, but the boot on this is a total joke, especially as it sits on a purely electric platform.
I recognised the beautiful island that I live on from the first shot outside the car. I've been thinking for a long time that someone should come here and film a car video. The roads are great and the scenery is beautiful. Also I saw that S6 Avant being driven around when you guys were obviously here filming.
Audi is currently making best looking cars out of Germany! They are nailing the designs across the range!
Totally agree.. all the rest are trying too hard and looking sad.. especially BMW .. lol
Great to see such detailed feedback. Thanks for the review! 🙌
John said “too much yappin broski, send me my Q8 ya?”
This is the EV that Audi should made first the A6 sedan and estate ❤.
For me they nailed the look and Audines, can't wait to see RS or AllRoad versions 😊❤❤.
Rory great video, when are we getting comparison test i5 Touring vs Audi A6 Avant?
You know what would be interresting to see?
Getting this S6 e-tron Quattro and an old S6 quattro, like something between 1994-1997,take them somewhere like Norway or where you can find a snow test track, and put these two against each other, see if that e-tron is worthy of the Quattro badge in its name....!
The Etron will be way better since its systems can operate much faster since its not just the differential but the whole engine just turning on and off. You can see that in a German Carwow video with an SQ8 Etron and an RS4
Electric motors are way more precise, therefore better for traction.
3:20 the rear tires are not actually narrower 235s but wider 275/35R21. You can see it on the sidewall.
I thought that was weird.
John couldn’t hold back the scream of happiness anymore
Ive been looking forward to a new Audi after my short time with my A4 2.0 TDI B7 what a brand what a brand, this is my favorite channel when it comes to truly finding out what a car is capable of Rory your the man, if fact you deserve a raise brov
Looks like Audi is trying to get a piece of the Chinese market with its styling just like BMW. I can’t wait for this split headlight and DRL design to phase out.
Thaaaaaaank youuuuuu.
When it comes to Headlights designs and signature Audi never dissapoints .

Good tech and specs, beautiful design and good practicability - Audi has a winner here!
The audio and photography were nicely produced in this piece.

So good! I love this wagon. This will be the worthy continuation of the legendary TDI engines Audi made.
Lovely advert for the S6 and Audi, but a base price of £100K +
Yeah...a joke in itself
It starts at around £99k btw. The facelifted 2024 S6 TDI Avant, which opened order books in the UK in June 2023, already costs £85k and has less tech and less punch (but more max speed which is irrelevant in all markets except Germany). If you include the new tech, more power, new styling + the inflation for 2024 and for 2025, then it leads to the conclusion that you won't be overpaying.
BMW MERC all cost that. you guys are unbelievable
Finally something interesting from Audi! 👌
Looks like it came straight out of watchdogs legion
I new it looked familiar 😂
Holy shit you're right
Audi said keep the car as a bonus, that was a great performance.
This man gets it 😊
All the cars are starting to look like they are based on the same platform. Some minor tweeks here and there but the dimesions, proportions are all the same. Eventually the feel, sound, and performance will all be the same as well.
@@jarrodmagnusson4101 Phones started this trend
Any idea on how long it would take and how expensive it would be to develop an entirely new platform for every new model?
WRONG! There is massive difference in how certain trim level / power train drives. Obviously a AWD car behaves nothing like a RWD Car. One of the coolest cars out right now is Cupra Born VZ which is 322hp just to the rear wheel, in a freaking Hot Hatch. "
All the cars are starting to look like they are based on" ... "the dimesions, proportions are all the same" Is absurd erroneous statement. The entire point of a shared platform is to have cars with wildly different proportions and dimensions sharing as many parts as possible.
Soo you're saying a Hummer EV is the same Dimensions and Proportions as Blazer EV?
Hard no from me…
The Avant exterior looks pretty good. The solution for front fascia is to get dark trim and smoke out the headlights with tint film (if legal in your country). The interior is just so so, not as impressive with too much gloss black. The features/tech and performance are comparable to high end Chinese brands but at a significantly higher prices (30-50% premium). The German “luxury tax” is not as easy to justify as it once was, in a world dominated by well made Chinese EVs. Saying this as someone who owns Lexus, Porsche, Mercedes and Xpeng vehicles, among others.
Brilliant review!
The fact that top gear had Rory and chris Harris and couldn’t make a decent show is befuddling to me. Rory, Chris Harris, and the throttle house guys would make for an amazing show and a nice change of pace to have 4 guys. But I’m just dreaming out loud
As an Audi owner, A8L and a Q7, who always loved their sleek, modern yet still classic designs, what the hell has happened to them?!
They were doing great with their designs, inside and out, but they decided to follow Mercedes and BMW's lead and mess up their entire heritage of building beautiful machines.
This for example, looks like they just ripped off the front end of a Hyundai Kona and slapped an Audi badge on it. The interior is just as bland and cheap looking as every modern car, screens and glossy black trims aren't luxurious, never were never will be!
Yep, imho you are spot on. It's weird, to me it seems there are two departments working in Audi. One does this, the other one comes up with the RSQ8 performance.... something is messed up and no wonder they have these issues in Germany.
The manufacturers are being forced into suicide via WEF/NWO, etc.
@@maher.k22 👍🏽 1 minute in, my brain is asking, is that a Kia wagon? A VW Arteon wagon? And why did it steal BMW's 7series headlights? And then the side seems a knod from astons 4 seater amr
I agree, I could say the same for the new VW I.D range, I’m a long standing VAG customer and loved the quality feel and design of them, they just don’t look or feel the same now. Also, the price of everything is out of control, who is their customer now as I’m priced out of them as are a lot of original customers I imagine
agree
This is a great car. I’m getting used to the design and the tech is amazing. I think the range will be pretty good too but the hills might not have been the perfect efficiency testing area.
Neither was Rory practicing his launches!
Wing cameras instead of mirrors are a terrible idea.
When overtaking or changing lanes you can't see if the driver has seen you.
Never once in my life did i look into a mirror to check if he saw me to confirm its safe to overtake
What?!?
did you get ur license from china
Kindly asking are this electronic wing mirrors recode as you drive.
I'm with John on this one
I agree with you about the WLTP, it’s an absolute joke. We need more accurate and realistic system. I think the EPA is way more accurate.
Rory, Rory, Rory! You could review a pencil and it'll be interesting to watch. Thanks for another, genuine, informative and entertaining review.
Great News! Love the real stuffs😍
This guy is a big fan boy. Everything is absolutely fantastic
I love your reviews Rory. Keep up the great work 🙌💯 Side note: Thank you Audi.
So you came to Tenerife! I hope you enjoyed it! I’d had invited the beers! 🙂
07:00 John just trying to take a dump and this guy is banging on about infotainment systems
Finely a good episode of A.T. :)
Easily my number one dream car right now.
That A6 Avant would be pretty cool in the full on GT trim and power.
Awesome Video!
Having a little motor to open your charging flap is absolutely stupid. It’s more cost and complexity for no actual benefit. It’s even slow so it’s probably more of a hassle than anything else. This is not progress…
This etron comes with climatron and tiptron, right? :D
Not so much ‘tiptron’😂
those silver intackes infront actually make it look nice... although knowing that they are plastic takes a lot away from it
Well done! 😀 It's so nice!
the design is... very.... interesting, i mean, don't get me wrong, it's not ugly, it's just not pretty either. it is an approachable design, but it doesn't have the same wow factor as Audi's current gas powered offerings.
It was long overdue, but the new Audis are very nice, especially the infotainment.
Shame you didn’t even have one look at the boot, which is disappointingly small for an estate at measly 500 liters. Hard to convince people to leave behind their crossovers when you compromise on practically like that.
Rory, which did you prefer to drive the most, the Audi S6 e-tron OR the BMW i5 M60?
Rory, Prices and when will all the variants go on sale in the UK? I've got everything crossed that it might just sneak into my company car budget next year 😟😟🤞🤞🤞🤞
Lovely car! The Audi A6 e-tron seems to be the most complete EV in its class and the price point is on par with the (Western) premium competition and overall justified.
Well said regarding WLPT range figures, they are consistently 20%‐50% too generous.
20% yes, 50% nope.
AUDI IS BACK
I like how you just glossed over the lighting. There's NOTHING "gimmicky" about Audi's lighting technology. It's industry-leading, purposeful, unique, and very functional.
Wow 😍 Audi 👌
I was really interested in this but think it would be worth the extra money to move up into a Lucid Gravity and get seating for 7 and it even looks better imo and I’m not convinced by the range, our ID4 isn’t the best
Yes please! I assume it’s not coming to the US.
Other than the front lights, it does look very good. And they dont even look "bad", its just that they lack personality, could come from any other car at this point.
I wanna see one lowered on some BBS LMs.
Looking forward to the skoda / seat version!
Hey a g wagon review mate
Its beautiful
Their choice of touch-capacitive buttons for a car that price is simply inexcusable.
Today's new tech is tomorrow's old tech.
So worth noting after a few years.
Audi keep cooking 🎉
cant beat Audi with the design
Camera mirrors are great. But when you're not used to them (as obvoiusly no car reporters are), you keep being negative about them. Use it for a week, and you do not want to go back.
300 miles is probably about 6 to 7 hours of driving?. That's impressive ❤
Im sad I like this interior more than the RS6 but unfortunately for Audi I don’t want an EV. Also unfortunately for Audi I still like their older interiors even more so I’m not updating my car anytime soon.
Chech your data Rory, rear wheels are wider > 275 frunk is 27 litres, not 74 !
At least, if you put cameras instead of windows, make it short. Cars are insanely large today !
Imma take my T model S, thank you
Nice Add but you forgot to tell us exactly how much they loose per car ! Euros , Pounds ,Dollars ? I don’t mind but please do tell 🤦♂️.
The rear of the S6 saloon, reminds me of the Volkswagen ID7
Literally nothing in common but ok, not everyone has eyes.
Where did Rory get such a good sense of humor 😂 I thought he hated Audi.
Ngl, this entire review feels like an ad, especially that weird phone call thing where Rory talks about the car to the winner.
Rory seems to be adapting to EVs now, 'You're getting soft brother, soft and weak, save the Bible for Sunday's eey' A6 looks sick tho
Obviously the new Audi A6 Avant is the much better looking model than the Sportback that looks chunky. So why Audi is not making the Avant available in the US? The marketing department needs their head examined.
FYI most electric cars when driven at an average speed of around 50-70km/h do actually exceed the rated WLTP. You just have to know what it means
i dont think that is true at all, ive owned 2 EV's now, very different in spec and performance and neither could get anywhere near the WLTP under any circumstance. my first was a peugeot 208 EV (50kwh battery, 136bhp), now i own a hyundai Ioniq 5 awd (77kwh battery 320bhp), Neither of them get near the WLTP in the real world even when absolutely striving to make it happen, no heating, no radio, regen or no regen etc. The hyundai WLTP is 299 miles, if i drive carefully... very carefully i might make it 260 miles at a push while taking advantage of every trick in the book, coasting where i can, regen on steep hills, even adaptive cruise control every step of the way which does help. I would need to be absolutely driving unrealistically slow to make it 300 miles and rarely touching the go pedal.
None of this is to hate on EV's, im EV all the way from now on as long as they keep making them, rolls royce like silence, porsche like performance... everything most people wanted from ICE cars, you would pay good money for the smoothness and quietness of a rolls while having the explosive performance of a sports car but now everybody hates the idea.
With that said, the WLTP figures are bull.

@@jinx20001it seems very weather dependent to me. We have a 2021 Peugeot e2008 with 45 kWh useable. It’s shows 175 on the GOM fully charged winter and about 182 summer. I think WLTP is around 195 miles. In winter it’s way short but on A roads in summer going 50-60mph with the AC off we’ve done just over 200 miles. I believe the American EPA standard is much more realistic though and the Chinese CLTC even more cloud cuckoo than WLTP!
I’m waiting for the RS5/7.

I am very , curious about the looks of the new A7 🤔, was and is one of the best looking Audi car , just hope that will not blow it up this time
I like EVs, the Audi S6 e Tron is a beautiful car
Remember though all those nice features are options. To get the big sound system, you first have to option some sort of MMI package at a huge cost.
Where's the new jag video?
Honestly I think the transition from petrol/diesel to electric should've been more "smoothly", like focus more on making hybrids instead of "forcing" people to go full electric. Cuz sooner or later most /if not all/ manufacturers will make only electric cars.
Nope that will never happen. Even today BEVs are still a fraction of most Automaker's inventory. The maximum level of market share BEV can achieve is about 70% while PHEV for specialized use cases take up 25%. While the last 5% is specialty cars pure ICE. Stop with the wacky idea it's a all or nothing option, it's just going to be what ever is practical mass produce and use in the real world. FYI I'm a BEV superfan but I recognize the limitations.
Hybrids are not popular because it's a pointless compromise. When it comes to normal in civilization traffic use. It's added complexity for not much gain. Hybrids only make sense where you the spcialised use case of electric performance + fueling in remote places. Commuting with mild Hybrid is moronic, stick with pure ICE for now and long range BEV later.
I really don't get VW's latest obsession with the chrome thingy going all the way to the back. WHYYYYYYYYYY. That stuff used to be attached to all Chinese cars ten years ago. So I guess that kinda shows you where the VW designers are stuck - because this Avant is nothing more than a glorified Passat/Superb. The Fastback, on the other hand, a nice looking piece of technology. Pity it will drop in value like an anchor of a Chinese ship crossing over optic fibers in the Nordics.
That A6 e-Tron Avant is definitely a pretty car. If we can even have access to it in Canada, I'll be happy to see it on our streets, sadly out of my driveway due to price, of course. Maybe an ID.7 Tourer would fit nicely. My gripe is how tech-heavy all the EVs are. What's with the door handles?? The powered charge port? Power liftgate and soft-close doors? I mean come on. No one buying this wants any of that. Rememer the 90's when you bought an Audi, it's was simply a solid-feeling car with great materials and build quality, and a powertrain found in nothing else? Well now I feel like we're trying to be convinced to buy these cars based on how many useless non-value added things they have over an ICE.
We love EVs. Just make them simple so the weird sh*t doesn't break in 10 years...like a normal car.
This probably won't come to the US, and I'm sad.
It’s always the cars the majority of autoexpress users will never be able to afford. Let’s see more every day cars!
Do not like the split headlights. Completely ruins the exterior design..
However. Stoked on Audi making a premium EV estate and sportsback!
Beautiful
Looks like a Kia.
Why do all cars look the same now? Interior, exterior, the same shit...
Looks nothing like a modern Kia. They've gone wild with bold graphics. This is sleeker more elegant.
"Why do all cars look the same now?" Nope not in recent years. Automakers have been freed from the shackles of 4 Banger FWD based platforms. Now Automakers are having a bit too much fun and their designs looking wacky.
It doesn't look like a Kia. What kind of eyes do you have?
