      I have transverse myelitis in my lower spinal cord and 5 lesions in my left frontal brain lobe. My neurologist explained to me and my husband that they are located in the part of the brain that controls speech and swallowing. When I get upset with my daughter, feel rushed, panicky, or overly excited the signal my brain sends for me to say what I want to say has trouble getting through the lesions and I lose my ability to speak correctly. I also have trouble remembering/recalling words I wanted to say…they just leave me or I can’t get it out…or it comes out wrong or backwards, etc… I’ve noticed with my 12 year old daughter when she’s really challenging me and I get upset that when I can’t get my words out correctly she sometimes makes fun of me. That causes a reaction that only curse words are able to come up. Like having Tourette’s syndrome. It’s so very frustrating and I’m currently waiting for an appointment with a speech therapist to help with my issue. All that being said, you never know what’s going on with a person so never judge…just straight up ask that person instead of assuming things. MS runs in my family so my neurologist follows me closely with contrast MRI’s and other studies that I won’t get into but I just wanted to say I hope you get better and don’t let it stress you out!!

    A little heads up, sometimes the neck hump is not because you are out of shape. I had one for years and my doctors kept telling me it was just my body and that is how my body is. Then I fell and they found a majorly slipped disk in my neck. When they operated to fix the disk they found out it had been damaged for so long it was calcified and had been cutting into my spinal cord. My neurosurgeon said I had to have damaged my C-spine a very long time ago for it to be calcified and I had to have been in a major car accident for the extensive damage to have happened. I know I had never been in a car accident but I was abused as a child and in my young adult years during my first marriage. After surgery, the neck hump went away and it has not been back since. SO please be careful if you have a neck hump. It could be something more than you think it is.

    I want to tell you I was suffering from some kind of neck pain for more than a year. It would get so bad most days it would feel like someone was choking me. I did your tennis ball therapy and I knew the first time it was a game changer. Within 3 days of rolling that ball down my neck to my shoulder blade while on the floor... my pain is gone!! A whole year of suffering... and three days it's gone. GONE! I still do my neck stretching exercises and I do the tennis ball about once every 10 days or so or when I'm stressed and feel that pain coming back. Thank You beyond words.!!!

Now that I'm a grandmother myself, I have some awful bat wings as well. I also have that neck hump. I'm going to try these things that you showed us on the video. Tyvm!! It's hard work being part bat! 😉😬😂😄👍
      My question is: Would it help the hump neck issue if I sleep without a pillow? I feel like the pillow is bad for the neck & reinforces the hump neck position. Tyvm for sharing this information. 👍✌😊🎾➰

    I also lost about95 lbs and had a bat wing only under my left arm! I finally figured out that, as a medical assistant, I was pumping up the blood pressure cuff at least 20 times a day with my right hand. That toned up my nder arm wing, so I started squeezing a hand grip at my desk in between patient and got the left bat wing under control, too.

    This is fantastic. I’ve been suffering - I mean really suffering - from this neck pain for about ten years.Have occasionally used a ball with fingers all over it to relieve pain. Now I know I need to take it up a few notches.
    You guys make me realize just how useless my doctor is. She basically shrugs and says it’s just age. (Just 🤨)
    * Gee thanks doc. That’s helpful. *

      @Patricia Beckman, I was just last week starting the anti-fat-neck-bump exercise and asked for a real live person that we can have a before and after video to prove that such a simple activity, with patience, will resolve the issue-and here you are!!! Yay!
      I’ll be doing this with you. I hope six months from now, we’ll both by neck-hump free! I’ve had mine since my early 20’s-it’s gotten more and more fat on it through the years just as Bob and Brad described. I had no idea that there was a possibility of getting rid of it until I saw their other video using a rolled up sock and one of their rolls they sell. I’m using a large stiff pool noodle cut to size. And while sorting or driving, a small section the diameter of a tennis ball.

    My grama's arms were like that and I always thought, I'm never gonna let my arms get like that. Not. My arms are like that too. 22 years ago, I had a skipped disc. I was in pain 24/7, could barely move. I was like that for 1.5 years while the ortho Dr I had kept having me do exercises and telling me my back was fine. 🙄 Finally, I told my primary Dr and he got me the right Dr that fixed it. Meantime, I had put on a lot of weight from not being mobile. Losing the weight does not take it off the arms. I used to call my grama's arms, angel wings. So, now I have them too. I'm going to do these exercises! Thank you again! Thanks to Pat for asking! ❤

I’m down 100 with 25 lbs more ideally to go and even still being in my 30’s and having done strength training for the last year or so, while I can see muscle definition and maybe less flapping under my arms, they’ll always be a bit flabby. I carried a good amount of weight there most of my life. It is important to sleep with the least amount of pillow that you can. Also I make it a habit (a strange habit) at the end of each day to lie on my back on the carpet without a pillow and put my legs up on a chair (like an astronaut position). I set the timer or count slowly to 250 -300. I completely relax into the floor and can feel the spine slowly flattening and becoming straight again. Get up slowly if you have never done this before. Gravity is a great straight spine persuader if you are persistent. It may take a while before you stop feeling the hard spots in your spine against the carpet.

I have that neck bump, and over the last week I have been having pain and swelling from my neck bump to my shoulder blades. I am definitely going to try the tennis ball for now. Thank you for being open and honest that there is a way to relieve the pain and straighten that part of my posture!
    Thank you Pat for being such a good sport and coming on this video. Congratulations on your weight loss 👏. I am just beginning a strick diet for NAFLD (liver disease) I hope my journey is as successful as yours and the other subscriber's.

      @Marlene Brown there are exercises you can do to tone the throat/ neck muscles. Poke out the tongue as far as possible , and then curl up the tongue as if trying to touch the nose tip. If you put your thumbs under the chin you should feel the muscles contract. Repeat. Do daily. Google it for more information.

    This topic definitely caught my eye. And I first want to say congratulations to Pat. I am very proud of you. I have been heavy all my life I am now 68 and 10 years ago I rejoined Weight Watchers for the last time and I lost 115 lb in a year and I have kept it off except for 5 lbs I put on during covid lockdown I feel wonderful I went from 235 to 120. I also try to get in 10,000 steps a day I have a small mini trampoline and I jump on it at night instead of jumping off the couch and running to the fridge! Anyway exercise has kept me toned but I do have the bat wings and getting older I am starting to slump forward and it bothers me because my posture is so poor. I am definitely going to adapt these exercises into my daily routine. I have subscribed and I will enjoy going back and looking at old videos and looking forward to the new ones too. Thank you again

I like these exercises and thank you for sharing. I have to tell you the trampoline really helped tone my body so much because when you lose almost half your bodyweight the morning walks and the nighttime trampoline really helped tone my body. Plus it's easy on your joints and you don't have to be too strenuous. Just be careful you will get used to your balance and I found it to be fun and a stress reliever.
