  • 2019 BMW X5 xDrive40i Review (Winter 2019)
    In this wintery test-drive, Justin examines the all-new 2019 BMW X5 xDrive40i in the middle of a Northern Ontario blizzard. The 2019 BMW X5's laser high beams, new safety technologies, new interior, and new gadgets are highlighted-- as is the performance of the BMW xDrive AWD system in the snow.

    Vehicles have grown in size over the years. For anyone looking for the perfect midsize crossover, do yourself a favor and check out the new X3 (new since 2018).
    The new and current X5 is a great vehicle with plenty of power and practicality, but it is definitely a larger vehicle.
    In my opinion the X3 is perfect and due to its size, it would have been considered a midsize crossover 10 years ago.
    And in case you agree with this sentiment and decide to go for the X3, go for the M40i.

    I have owned 4 BMW X5’s and they have been terrific. Porsche, Corvette, and Cobra Mustangs have been previous vehicles. Along with Trucks, Pathfinder, 4-Runners, and BMW 335XI. There is something Special about the BMW X5’s….. I have gone up Steep Roads in in-plowed 8 inches of snow no problem. Many cars and SUV stuck on the side of the road along with Several BMW 2 Wheel Drives. Do yourself a huge favor…. Get The All Wheel X Drive….. It could be a life saver. 🇺🇸🤠👮🏻‍♂️👍👻👋. B9USA Sr.

      100% I currently have a 2014 750Li xdrive, I’ve had it for 4 years & im looking at this 2018, 2019 & 2020… X5 & my goodness I’m really impressive with everything.
      But yes xDrive is an amazing all-wheel drive system!

      @@JakeDrives1 for me,personal preference. I drove the brand new m5 and the 2018 x5m. i realized suv is more practical but i dont think i need that extra hp. no matter how many hp suv has, the suv cannot give you the feeling of driving sedan/sport car. for me,i rather to spend extra for the sedan instead. For me,the inline 6 model for suv is enough for me.

    Probably the Q7 is still a better suv overall. This X5 is not sporty and inside pretty cramped; also the trunk is smaller than both GLE and Q7 and even smaller than the old X5.

    • @motherland3967

      I have owned 4 BMW X5 and they destroy the Q7 and GLE….. it is not even close. I drove them all and purchased another 2021 X5 Loaded.
      I currently own a 2020 & 2021 X5, they drive Fantastic & the Tech is a 10. Plus 0 Break Downs on all 4 BMW X5’s.
      Just a real Owner Report if interested.

      @@BERETTA9mmUSA I have a 5 seats gasoline Q7, German specs, with all the hardware of the Porsche cayenne (ceramic brakes, sport differential, active anti roll bars, etc), you can't get that nice stuff on Q7 usa specs. And, I don't need to add that, it's vastly superior to GLE and X5 both for comfort and hanfling

    • @fromBalkan
      @fromBalkan 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Comparing a series/class above another class is never the logical think. Q7 is a class above anything 5 in BMW or Benz. So why don’t you compare it to the X7 since they are in the same series/class… this is a no brainer…. Duh.
      Some me some American guy who doesn’t know shit.

    • @RasmusandPiper
      @RasmusandPiper 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fromBalkan You're wrong on so many levels dude. Q7 was born in 2007 to compete against X5 and ML, and at the same time offering a valid competitor to the american midsize suvs, that on average were larger than european midsize (allroad, xc90, range rover sport, ML, X5). Bonus, size helped to make the vehicle different and not steal sales to cayenne & touareg.
      Hence the big size of 2006 Q7.
      With newer generations bmw and mercedes rapdly catch up, and today, they offer the same wheelbase of Q7 and are withing 10-13 cm of Q7 total length.
      Beyond that, comparing a vehicle against another with a 10 inches lenght delta is not a crime. Only we european are so close-minded and ldiots to creat a new segment every 10 cm. And I'm not american, you actually talk cr4p like americans do, i'm italian, but since I lived in Australia, Texas, Japan and Italy and worked on local car markets, I know a thing or two about vehicles and how consumers cross-shop them. And you can be sure, in US the midsize Q7 steal X5 customers, not X7, whereas in China steal X5 and X5 lwb customers, hence audi is introducing a lwb version of their future 2024 Q6 e tron and 2026 Q7 ICE models.

    90K, ouch. A Jeep Wrangler JL could be had for 1/2 that price. I get that the Jeep is not an ubber luxury vehicle but BMW just keeps getting more and more expensive, even with nice leases. The price seems artificial to keep with the slam of high depreciation in the years to come.

    This is a lease only vehicle. Our 7 year old X5 has had a congo line of problems, some of which the dealer never fixed and BMWNA never acknowledged. BMW isn't a company that produces quality products. They make nice stuff when new, but it ages like a jar of mayo in an Arizona summer. Caveat emptor.
