    I drove my stock wrx 300000 kms on the stock tune and engine. And enjoyed every moment. It’s about to be resurrected.

    Congrats on getting the old girl tuned and going again! Glad you stuck with it, you're an inspiration to all us project car dads. Looking forward to the new rims/tires and Unicorn project.

    I’m much older than you, 57yo. I’m also into Subarus, it was so familiar when you comment about suspension roughness. I like power but can’t tolerate coilovers, 24mm sway bars and race polyurethane bushings anymore. Congrats on your build, good luck with that ej257 short block. I’m a factory ej207 guy, 2L don’t make the same torque as your 2.5 but I like that they can be reved to 8000 rpm and seem to hold better at the same hp level you are at. Hopefully your tune is good, monitor knock, may you not get broken pistons.

      Ain’t that the truth. The stiff ride is ok backing out of the driveway, then my back says “No thanks”
      I know these coilovers are not the highest quality, however, they all run stiff!
      Love the ej207! That will be my next choice if I build another one.

    Hey great numbers! mine just got tuned here on 93 - mine has the 205 heads and ecu with ej257 bottom and those je pistons - numbers are 312whp 363tq mustang dyno. I used an 11blade wheel on vf48 so boost starts quick

    My compliments!!! You’ve got yourself my dream car, and you think like I do. I’m past the “boy racer” days and want reliable, non obnoxious, in your face fun, with a sleeper facade. It’s a shame you can’t go for more road comfort and compliance with a full round set of jdm bilsteins with factory STi coil springs. Would make for a stiff but more comfortable ride with those white line bushings. I myself am planning on building an aig closed deck long block with forged internals for my OBXT, but limiting it to no more than 350 or so HP, for reliability’s sake. Want the car to last a long time, and keep people on their toes without worrying about breaking anything if I ever need to push it. Hell, I’ve even considered fire rings. But my days of chasing numbers are past, and honestly, who do I need to prove anything to? Only justification for spending the money these days to the partner, lol.
    Keep up the good work keeping these cars alive! They’re becoming rare. Glad to see another in good hands.

      Thank you! There is a balance of going too far, and still comfortable while the reliability monster is lurking in the shadows. No matter what your numbers are, there can always be more power. It certainly is enough for the streets. Tuner said most people are chasing 600hp these days. Geez, nah I am good for a while. I see the appeal of a nice comfy sleeper. This one rattles my brains after about 30 min of drive time.

    I agree with you about the HP numbers. And Ill throw another thought/way of looking at things. Ive had turbo Subies since 2006, one thing ive learned is HP numbers mean almost nothing. Its actually other metrics we really should be concerned about 0-60 1/4 mile and other measurements of how fast it is. Ive seen subies that can wave around high hp dyno sheets get beat by well setup close to stock setups, and seen similar to those close to stock setups that are really slow. Like for example I have ej207 V7 with stock vf30 tuned at 20psi with alot of mods GD(Tune is sooo perfect) and a ej257 GC with a Blouch 1.5xtr(tune is not that great but stable). The 257 has more overall power but spools alot later than the 207. I have a feeling the 257 isnt that much faster than the 207. Atleast in the 0-80mph I usually do.

    When I was looking for a diff and STI trans, I would read that is not recommended to have the R160 with STI Trans. Ratios are different and it can end up damaging the transmission. IDK if that true or not but might want to so some research on that. and sick build BTW ! lol

    • @RoadPatina
      @RoadPatina  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! If the final drive ratio in the transmission match the diff (3.900 or 4.111 or 4.444) there is no problem. The R160 may not hold the power a R180 can... but that's a strength issue.

    well you cant put el205 heads on a 257 = because the bore size is differant to head combustion chamber ! = unless you spent $3k 0n having them over machined ! = can you prove them heads = My ej207 RA STI has ej205 heads because it is a same bore to combustion chamber size ! = understand what i am saying = because so many people DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT !

    If you are still on this car… throw the Cobb out and get a Link G4X… Cobb=boom for the engine. Also, your chart looks terrible! Look at the curve dying off! You need to shift way before an actual powerband… dude, 325 dying off to 200 before shifting looks horrible. Get a LINK. It doesn’t fall off, you can hold the boost. Cobb are yesterdecade
