@@1993Revhead I was agreeing with you, sorry if it was misleading. As you said, people spend a lot more money in probably inferior products like those Rolex which are most likely still produced with the same old tools and old techs, when some other companies produce the same model better and a lot cheaper (they're still not cheap, but nothing close to the real ones). When even experts can't see the difference, except for blurrier fonts in the original product, you know you're not buying "quality" anymore but rather the brand .... If those companies were using their own brand instead of slapping a more known one, you'd end up with a most likely superior model for those 300$.
Quality sleeper build mate. No one will expect that your RS is fast. I had a sleeper McLaren build. It was awesome tricking car guys who never saw it coming.

@@Cappy_Cat both brands are known for questionable reliability and expensive maintenance. Sure they aren’t as bad as mopar, but they def spend a good amount of time at a repair shop
I had a stage 1+ RS3. For the generally V8 haters who think talking in ‘stages’ is stupid. You can also call it “10sec quarters” or “low threes 0-100”. On a street surface on street tyres. Repeatable and consistent. Great sounding too.
A late friend of mine owned a older model RS3 hatchback, and one of my favorite weekends was racing his wife in a A5 convertible from Hobart to the far west cost of Tasmania! So much fun going rouge on twisty smooth roads in two very different but two very fun Audi’s 🤓❤️
I bought an rs3 a year ago and still no sign of a delivery anytime soon. These cars are awesome and can’t wait to have a little fun on the track with it.
@@InterTay the brakes done by Audi are also in the thousands. I think it's the main reason people don't buy them. The cost of ownerships is way too high on top of the already premium price.
The RS3 is so much more spicy than a Golf R... that extra cylinder really adds so much more. That turbo spool plus exhaust note is just wicked. Golf R's do nothing for me. The RS3 though, my goodness it sounds epic!
I'd love to see you do the Audi S4 or S5 from 2013, the B8.5 with supercharger has a lot of mods to make it fast. A simple tune and it makes 100hp more than stock. Then you can change the supercharger pulley and get even more.
@@J3n555 Honestly, I haven't done anything about the cats. Tune, pulleys, intake, charge cooler, all on stock exhaust. I haven't encountered any issues yet (touch wood), but I look after the car, and give it plenty of time to warm up and cool down when driving hard.
1:42 - @Mighty Car Mods: Here's a little history: VW acquired Audi in the early 1970s for their expertise in liquid-cooled engines (VW had zero expertise, for obvious reasons). From the 1970s to today, the only VW-designed engine is the VR6 engine family (including the W8, W12 and W16 variants). The 2.5L five cylinder came on the scene after VW Group acquired Lamborghini. Every other engine in VW Group is designed by Audi. So the Golf R is a VW with an Audi engine, contrary to popular belief.
Supercars are more then just speed. It's about the experience/looks/sounds. I can appreciate them as well as sleeper/cheaper cars that can hand it to them though
The old mark 2 Ford focus RS and XR5/ST had these 5 pot similar motors.. Yes FWD but on a roll with stage 3 bolt ons and tune they were a lot of fun and surprised many others at the track and on the road. The 5 pot motor sounds great IMO and for that reason alone i would take the Audi over the Merc AMG A45
The Focus 5-pots are Volvos. Great engines and gearboxes, but broadly speaking, you'll get better value out of an actual Volvo. S40 and C30 T5s instead of the XR5, and S40 T5 AWD (plus some mods) instead of the RS. However, if you've got the cash, the Audi 5 pot has more potential without opening the engine.
@@seanocd I knew that info but thanks anyway. I was just saying what a great motor they are and years of development on Audis part would only make the better. They sound and go Awesome with the right exhaust system. Love the 5pot in any car.
@tim8deb Hell yeah. Apologies if that came off as condescending or something. I parrot out the Fo-vo info whenever people mention the XR5/ST/RS largely because there are a lot of less knowledgeable folk who will rant and rave about the Fords but would ignore a S60R/V70R.
you spoke of the gearbox Moog, and yeah it's Aud's DSG, they do shift phenomenally good, I remember being a testdriver and getting seat time in the RS3 out on the frozen lake. Loved it, but what I don't like is the Haldex all wheel drive system, it's horrible if pushed hard the pump will start shutting off onfortunately. But other than that the RS3 is absolutely awesome!
Always been into cars and I have owned quite a bit, Honda S2000, Subaru WRX STI , BMW 325i , VW Golf GTi , I have always wanted AUDI since I saw the movie Ronin and hearing the car noises and how sleek those cars looked got me. Researching the RS3 more and more and I absolutely love these cars and the sounds they make not to mention the rally heritage! Amazing video
Definitely check out a xDrive BMW 1 series with a B58 engine in it, the M140i xDrive, if you want to do videos on scaring supercars with hatchbacks. Those things can scoot and sound fairly good. The M135i with the N55 sounds better, but it doesn't perform quite as well and with less ease than the M140i will.
Dang, I know it's a real model, but I didn't realize Australia didn't get it. Guess it's a M135i xDrive or M140i RWD. Wish we got them at all here in the US. They look so fun.
I have the latest gen RS3 and in stock form it does 0-100 in 3.5 and quarter mile in under 12 seconds, they are a very underrated car. If you’re after an RS3 that hasn’t been trashed look for a stock one because even if they’ve been driven hard all their life they still won’t have been thrashed because Audi actually hold them back.
@@Vratz99 7.0 litres compared to 2.5 and run similar times, price wise about the same if you could get a vette but it’s a 12 year old outdated car which will get murdered on a track compared to the RS3. Good luck with that
The best way to improve an already not underpowered car is to invest heavy in suspensionparts. High-End Coilovers, PU bushings, anti roll bars ect, ect, ect..... I realized that yesterday when I was ragging my 252 bhp Opel (Vauxhall) Corsa E OPC (VXR) through narrow B-Roads. Till yesterday the plan was to forge the engine internals to get to about 300 bhp. But what limits the car at the moment is the suspension. I already have an ST-X set of coilovers. But I will switch a H&R anti rol bars and a KW V3 clubsport with uniballs. I do not agree with the tyre recommendation. I had the PS5 for about 1000 km on my Corsa and they are too soft. The steering felt numb. Then I switched to the Goodyear eagle F1 asymetric 6 and the car improved a lot in the feel in the steering. I trhin the PS5 are not as good as everyone says. Better go with the goodyears or PS4S!
@@vlt873 You do not know the car. The engine block is very good but has "chocolate rods and pistons". Everything over ~250 bhp needs forged rods on the Corsa OPC.
@@megarafjogos The suspension is already very good but does not suit my driving style. A well tuned KW V3 competition will work a lot better. For the car but not for my wallet. 3200€.....
Love and agree with everything in this video - the sleeper hot hatch is one of my favorite cars to want to own. My STi hatch has been a blast. (Wish we got the RS3 hatch here in the States - though the sedan version is ok if you’re willing to give up das boot.) The one thing though about a sub 4 second sleeper car for embarrassing super cars at the drag strip (or at traffic lights, if you happen to see a supercar just stopped at one in your town), is manufacturers are already making super fast sleeper cars for “cheap” - they’re called EVs. They have all the excitement of driving a vacuum cleaner through a library, but some of them are stupid fast. I think the fact they make no sound is insult to injury. I’d MUCH prefer that RS3, but as the RS3 is pantsing Lambos, a Tesla Model Y Performance carrying kids to Little League practice is pantsing those with modified hot hatches.
I'm so glad you did all the work and tune without adding a wanky pop and bang remap. That's all the UK owners seem to do, with every modified car. It sounds terrible and it's obnoxious. The 5-cyl sounds amazing and it doesn't need extra fanfare! Great video Moog!
If you go the bmw route it would be cool to see what they do with an n54 or n55, BUT if you want something similar to the jdm culture you have to try the e36 generation of the 3 series I would love to see that in this channel
Experience....their very early videos were not that good....quality wise, now a days with better tech and their experience along with their positive and awesome personalities??? Its their secret to your question😎
From an engineering perspective. Anything larger than seventeen inches has a negative impact in regards to weight - cost - braking performance. So hilarious to hear that young guys are finally getting smarter about rim size.

Love this platform, bought my first Audi current generation 5 cylinder in late 2017. Got a 2018 Catalunya Red RS3, did stage 2 E85 tune a week after ownership loved it. Then went stage 3 E85 hybrid turbo making 698whp on a stock block.. Definitely don't recommend it, but mine lasted and did a ok 9.89@144 with basic bolt on mods with 18" ps4s. Sold it got a 2019 TTRS, ran it on straight E85 but was too small for me. My 2019 RS3 is 1000 plus whp, love it. Its good to note, adaptive suspension is the worse option. The upgrade is RS Fixed Suspension, no need to get the modules to remove the suspension light. With it on you can't launch ect, it's a pita system.. Stage 1 dynojet numbers makes ok power, but kinda soft.. Hybrid built bottem end or full frame is where its at 😅
I see you had an R35 too. I picked up an R35 this year and I really love it. I'm considering grabbing an RS3 for a daily some day. I'm sure it's a more refined drive than the brutal clunky DCT and all the other strange noises from the R35. Do you thinks they are too similar to make it worth having both?
As a Volvo owner, I'm legally obligated to mention that if you want a turbo 5 cylinder that doesn't cost an insane amount (to buy at least...), Volvo T5's are right there and pretty cheap all told. They can even make pretty big power if you really hate money!
Those dual clutch DSG boxes and the turbo TSI engine, even the unmodded 2L versions. They're just so much fun. I have a tiguan right now, it's crazy how perky it is. And the 4 motion AWD is beyond smart, I got my tiguan crossed up over a washout on purpose just to see it do something that was impossible without part time 4 wheel drive AND locking diffs before this system.
I feel like my paycheck no longer keeps up with car hobbies in general. This video was amazing, prod values on point and I love RS3's...owning a $70k car though is completely out of reach (and after the car show I went to on the weekend, I'm pretty sure I'm alone on this). Maybe its time for me to sell up and move on.
Where Australia is headed, owning any sort of petrol car is going to be to expensive to own for most of the population. This will be due to all the new restrictions that are coming in the coming years. It’s already happening in other country’s now. One restriction is banning all petrol cars from driving in the city. This will be every state. Many car owners with expensive exotic’s and or classic models believing they are sitting on an investment are in for a rude awakening.

I would love to see one of these videos on the BMW m140i. Such a fun car, RWD with a 3L inline 6. Not the new 2L 4cyl and x-drive, also loads of fun but a little less old school BMW.
Moog, you're really missing out not looking at the BMWs. I don't think the tuning market is as large as the VAG stuff but the stock cars are still really fun to drive. From a M340i Xdrive owner who uses his blinkers.
Vag cars started heavy heavy tuning first basically the vr6. It's not used anymore but if it was itd be mad. People making 2000hp reliably. All vag cars are just great to tune. Sure the bmw fanboys popularised the b58 and s58 like crazy because it's the "new 2jz" and it has tonnes of aftermarket support. But vag cars are way better. Racing tuning vag cars miles better. The bugatti engine is 2 vr8 engines combined making 1600 hp. They were the first ones to make HIGH power cars. All the cars are unique too. Unlike bmw. Alfa romeo is also beautiful and unique with a ferrari engine. Just like the daza is the r8 engine. Bmw has no racing records either. Also have the worst lap times of all German car brands. Bmw is bmw. Good cars horrible fanbase. They are goodish but not unique. Every idiot that doesn't know how to drive buys bmw. I wouldn't mind bmws for what they are but the fanbase just kills it. They simply arent anywhere as good as people portray them as. I worked in Germany as a bmw technician and every good mechanic I worked with said practically the same thing. That they aren't reliable as people say and are the porsche wannabe of cars.

Man you can't say sleeper and RS3 in the same sentence brother
I would love LOVE to see you guys do a fairly modern Volvo build. They too have a 2.5 5Cyl turbo that surprises everyone. Found in the Focus XR5, Volvo C30 and Volvo V40 (and a smattering of other applications). I had a '13 V40 T5 Rdesign. Fantastic hatchback, plenty of torque (380nm!) FWD sounded great. Would love to see a Volvo build as a sleeper
Yes, moog. I've always thought the same about supercars. It's like buying a $10,000 rolex when a $300 watch can do the same thing.
To spot some counterfeit Rolex, you have to look for defects ... the real one is the one which has those defects, the fake ones are built "too" well 🤣
@pbe6965 you missed my point... I'm saying people spend a lot of money on expensive things, when there's a cheaper, more practical alternative.
@@pbe6965 roger.
I'll keep my Rolex, a three hundred dollar fake watch seems a bit try hard.
Quality sleeper build mate. No one will expect that your RS is fast. I had a sleeper McLaren build. It was awesome tricking car guys who never saw it coming.
I own a 2018 RS3 as well. Moog's white one was my inspiration. Running stage 2 with similar mods, it's the perfect, reliable daily with an engine symphony that's unmatched. There isn't a moment where that car doesn't put a smile on my face.
Thank you MCM, my '18 RS3 just went up in value.
Love the lighting setup! Such cinematic goodness!
Great video. I recently bought a '19 RS3. Best car ever! Stage 1 ECU tune, and stage 2 TCU tune, and it's a freaking BLAST. If you have the means, pick one up. You won't regret it!
What’s the difference between an Audi and a porcupine? On a porcupine, the pricks are on the outside.
Correction BMW*
lol doesn’t matter whether it’s Audi or bmw both cars sucks lol
@@iamlpdo19 did you had either one ?
@@iamlpdo19 Neither brand of cars suck lol
@@Cappy_Cat both brands are known for questionable reliability and expensive maintenance. Sure they aren’t as bad as mopar, but they def spend a good amount of time at a repair shop
I had a stage 1+ RS3. For the generally V8 haters who think talking in ‘stages’ is stupid. You can also call it “10sec quarters” or “low threes 0-100”. On a street surface on street tyres. Repeatable and consistent. Great sounding too.
Rs3 is a bucket list car for me. Cant afford one so i got my hands on a 2006 VW rabbit that was about to get junked. Closest i will get but i love it
5 bangers are one of the best sounds on the planet, aside from a 10 for obvious reasons. I'll own one someday soon.
The videography and lighting on this was superb 👌🏻
Love the lighting and editing on this vid, such a pleasure to watch (and listen to). Not just a great video - a great showpiece.
Great engine in the RS3 but they're incredibly expensive
I heard that they ‘need’ oil changes every 3 months @ $1500 by Audi
@@InterTay the brakes done by Audi are also in the thousands. I think it's the main reason people don't buy them. The cost of ownerships is way too high on top of the already premium price.
@InterTay that is incorrect. Oil change intervals are 15000kms or 12 months. Whichever comes first.
@@InterTay I have a stage 2 RS3 and change it every 6 months out of caution. I could get away with 9-12 months if I don't drive it too hard or often
@@InterTaylmao i own an RS3. I change my oil every 5k miles. Costs me $140 USD. Don’t believe the cap
The RS3 is so much more spicy than a Golf R... that extra cylinder really adds so much more. That turbo spool plus exhaust note is just wicked.
Golf R's do nothing for me. The RS3 though, my goodness it sounds epic!
Yes the golf R is a good car but I certainly would not buy one. Just to boring for me
I'd love to see you do the Audi S4 or S5 from 2013, the B8.5 with supercharger has a lot of mods to make it fast. A simple tune and it makes 100hp more than stock. Then you can change the supercharger pulley and get even more.
Then burn out the cats and spend ten grand replacing them
@@SkillzorZ021 yep, you're not wrong.
Stage 2 with pulleys S4 here. It's bonkers fast for such little effort
@@OverwatchPlaysGames147 I bet! I only have stage 1 because I dont want to mess with failing cats.. What have you done regarding that?
@@J3n555 Honestly, I haven't done anything about the cats. Tune, pulleys, intake, charge cooler, all on stock exhaust.
I haven't encountered any issues yet (touch wood), but I look after the car, and give it plenty of time to warm up and cool down when driving hard.
Rs3 hatch is my dream daily. Unfortunately we never got them in Canada and rs3 isn't even coming here in the new body at all.
The lighting 10/10❤
I feel like Moog's list of fast cars intentionally disrespected Supergramps...which was faster than some of the cars on his list, lol.
I have a b16 mini too and think it's amazing, people expect a slow classic and Jaws drop when they see how fast it goes 👌
So the Golf R is a VW with an Audi engine, contrary to popular belief.
can we take a second to appreciate how awesome the RS3 quilted leather seats look? God dam I want those in my Golf GTI
They’d probably fit!
Supercars are more then just speed. It's about the experience/looks/sounds. I can appreciate them as well as sleeper/cheaper cars that can hand it to them though
Love the Audi/VAG content 👍 awesome vid as always
This kind of content tickles me in places lol. But, this is just leveled up old style content. Im here for it. Thanks MCM team.
@tim8deb
Hell yeah. Apologies if that came off as condescending or something.
I parrot out the Fo-vo info whenever people mention the XR5/ST/RS largely because there are a lot of less knowledgeable folk who will rant and rave about the Fords but would ignore a S60R/V70R.
that was an entertaining 24min ad, I'll give you that
I love the 8V shape, what a beautifully designed car. I wish the 8Y had the retracting screen, I love them too.
you spoke of the gearbox Moog, and yeah it's Aud's DSG, they do shift phenomenally good, I remember being a testdriver and getting seat time in the RS3 out on the frozen lake. Loved it, but what I don't like is the Haldex all wheel drive system, it's horrible if pushed hard the pump will start shutting off onfortunately. But other than that the RS3 is absolutely awesome!
0:03 I agree
Anything with a B58 is a great platform, you only need to look at the current G42 M240i xdrive , out of the box pretty saucey..
if you mean the F20 M140i, only came rear drive here - one hell of a car
Dang, I know it's a real model, but I didn't realize Australia didn't get it. Guess it's a M135i xDrive or M140i RWD. Wish we got them at all here in the US. They look so fun.
@@TheAfterPein Even the lowly 4-cylinder ones are fun and deceptively fast with a remap, you're really missing out.
Tunnel run gave me goosebumps!! "Too slow or too fast"... DEFINITELY AGREE!
1/4 mile in under 12s is nothing impressive, a 2011 c6 z06 vette runs in the 11:s for example
@@Vratz99That’s a dedicated sports car
@@Kevhoe still more affordable and reliable though
@@Kevhoe but if you want to keep it as 4door, even something like lightly modified older evo can match that easily, or a stock cts-v for example
@@Vratz99 7.0 litres compared to 2.5 and run similar times, price wise about the same if you could get a vette but it’s a 12 year old outdated car which will get murdered on a track compared to the RS3. Good luck with that
All I'm saying - there's an Evo for sale in Sydney for 25k that needs some loving. Be an absolute steal for the channel
Gotta get them uniballs.
Why the hell would you need forged internals for 300hp? Add more boost, if the turbo is out of efficiency, upgrade.
don't even have to go that far, in most cases, good shocks and springs are enough to turn an understeering piece of **** into a balanced vehicle.
(Wish we got the RS3 hatch here in the States - though the sedan version is ok if you’re willing to give up das boot.)
The one thing though about a sub 4 second sleeper car for embarrassing super cars at the drag strip (or at traffic lights, if you happen to see a supercar just stopped at one in your town), is manufacturers are already making super fast sleeper cars for “cheap” - they’re called EVs.
I wish we Got the RS3 as a hatch.. Like I could afford one lol
I'm so glad you did all the work and tune without adding a wanky pop and bang remap. That's all the UK owners seem to do, with every modified car. It sounds terrible and it's obnoxious. The 5-cyl sounds amazing and it doesn't need extra fanfare! Great video Moog!
It would have been fun to watch you roast supercars in the Camry 😓😔
Epic episode guys.
If you go the bmw route it would be cool to see what they do with an n54 or n55, BUT if you want something similar to the jdm culture you have to try the e36 generation of the 3 series I would love to see that in this channel
I don’t understand how you can continue to make such high quality content on every single video!?!!! Love this channel
Experience....their very early videos were not that good....quality wise, now a days with better tech and their experience along with their positive and awesome personalities??? Its their secret to your question😎
I'm a little bit confused... how big was/is the actual performance gain after all these mods?
Yeah, that part was pretty glazed over.
About this many hrsprs |---|
Not enough to be wrth mentioning. Revo is a joke on the RS3. Weak tunes and mediocre parts
Compare to stock numbers, it wasn't, it was a net loss of performance.
@@Mindseas that's what I thought when I saw the results of the dyno run
From an engineering perspective. Anything larger than seventeen inches has a negative impact in regards to weight - cost - braking performance. So hilarious to hear that young guys are finally getting smarter about rim size.
Why didn't you go for the Yaris?
RS3 DAZA platform is infinitely better for easy performance.
Even I can feel the speed and the torque out of the video and the smile. Awesome video. Thank you
This entire episode feels like a series of ads... super lame moog. Guess you needed to get a quick bag. He cares so little about the project he didnt even buy the car.
I have been in the car community for so damn long involved with so many communities and none of it means anything if I never get to meet these two legends! One day!
That sounds amazing! It reminds me of the Group B Audi Quattro...
Nice to see a UK biz getting some coverage, great video.
As a Volvo owner, I'm legally obligated to mention that if you want a turbo 5 cylinder that doesn't cost an insane amount (to buy at least...), Volvo T5's are right there and pretty cheap all told.
They can even make pretty big power if you really hate money!
The most pleasant ad I have seen this far 😀 Great lighting also!
Inline 5 engine sound so good!!!
I've been waiting to see an RS3 back on this channel since the unfinished series 2 years ago, what a machine!
This vid is the main reason i watch mcm down to earth relatable stuff 🤘

As a Golf R owner I 100% love these vids and also the RS3, what a car. will definitely be buying one of these 2017/18 models very soon. Great upload.
I hope the lighting is permanent, it's absolutely beautiful, great work!
The BMW you need to play with is the M140i 2018 ish.. the Rear wheel drive B58 one.. B58 is arguably even more tunable than the Audi 2.5 inline 5! would love to see a Vs series here on those two.
The inline 5 sounds fantastic!
Adding mods to cars is so much fun. The price jump over the last 4 years is absurd but when you finally rationalize the purchase it's worth it...sort of.
Facelifted rs3 is probably the best car ever made man ..
Those five cylinder engines sound so nice.

I would love to see one of these videos on the BMW m140i. Such a fun car, RWD with a 3L inline 6.
Not the new 2L 4cyl and x-drive, also loads of fun but a little less old school BMW.
Thanks Ryobi for sponsoring this video lol. I mean I like Ryobi too but they're not, you know, the most professional tools around.

@almaadams3631 I love the vr6. Such a shame they don't use it anymore. Such a brutal engine delivering power when you need it and you feel the engine. Saw someone engine swap a rs3 for a vr6 running about 1500 whp and it sounded amazing. Can't believe they replaced it with a 2.0 i4
Before the tyre sidewalls were even mentioned I looked at the factory ones and could feel the back pain. A layer of electrical tape would provide just as much padding.
