@shatteredyoshi hard disagree while I wish BDSP had platinum features, I'm very glad they decided to do Legends Arceus instead of something like ORAS. I adore the new lore additions in ORAS but I wish that it was a sequel instead.
11:17 I just wanna point out a headcanon of mine: Sidney's chamber was once of Flannery's grandfather. We know he was an E4 member. The colours and the sand on the side makes me think he was a Ground expert. There's no ground expert in Hoenn and it would be fitting since it alludes to the volcanic nature of Lavaridge City. Route 111 desert is also nearby. Even Sidney's chamber doesn't really evoke anything "Dark/Evil" about it.
I think ORAS are the best remakes precisely because it's the least faithful. It only used Gen 3 as a loose basis and created a whole new experience out of it. The new iteration of Mauville City is perhaps the best exmaple of this, becoming this high-tech indoor metropolis. This approach probably let them to go even more wild with Legends Arceus, forgoing remaking altogether and creating a new game set in an old region.
Only problem is they have very limited time to create games. Plus they suck at making games too. Imagine if they had help from the developers of xenoblade, maybe we would have gotten a legends arceus with actual towns instead of just one.
ORAS is the definitive experience imo. Yes it doesn't have the Battle Frontier, but I don't know how much that actually matters, as I don't hear people talking about Emerald's battle frontier these days in terms of actually playing it. ORAS could have definitely made it better, but I do agree with a take a streamer by the name of RT Game had that, if people still loved the Emerald battle frontier, they would still be playing it and talking about it. However, the last time I ever hear about it, its jus that it wasn't in ORAS and that's it. Most of the facilities are cool, but flawed. (Gen 4 did it better.) Again, ORAS could have improved it a lot, but it not being there isn't a game breaker, especially with the Delta Episode allowing for basically Emerald story integration. I love ORAS so much. Omega Ruby was my second Pokemon game, and I have a lot of nostalgia, but the game does have so much to do. Finding the Regis, exploring Sea Mauville, Secret Bases, The Battle Maison still there for some competitive, and all the Mirage spots with national dex Pokémon beyond those added to the basic routes, as well as the legendary hunts are great! And yes, MEGA evolution is great.
I enjoy Oras a lot. Remakes should learn to lean into the new types and systems introduced rather than make something faithful aka lock out nee mons or content that was introduced later It's why I don't want a black white remake. That would be beyond boring like the diamond pearl one where the underground areas felt like add ons.
Oras had the best of both worlds being the remakes of games that are considered the "best" by the majority of the fanbase (mostly cus it was their first lmao💀) and having the "best" battle gimmick in the games being megas Eon flute and flying with the latios/latias is probably one of the best ever mechanics ever in any games The only game i think tops oras is definitely Legends Arceus
It does seem that after you complete the Delta episode you can fight the elite for a second time and they all have different teams. This was their way of UserTesting to your point, Steven has a Carbink which is a fairy type rock Pokémon
I enjoyed ORAS, and believe it to be arguably the best remake we've had (tho I haven't played FRLG in 5000 years so take that with a grain of salt), but it certainly also has issues that, while not ruining the experience, are still felt. I loved the redesigns for every single character, there legitimately is not one miss in the entire cast - I would go so far as to say that not only is every design better than the Gen 3 version, but that the human designs in ORAS are one of the greatest casts in the series. Team Magma and Aqua get the biggest glowup, and while I miss ginger Shelly, no one can say that ORAS Shelly is worse than her original design. The extra speed on water does make the water routes a lot more enjoyable, and the overall 3D scope with being able to see so many Pokémon flying and swimming around was a nice touch. While I agree the E4 rooms are disappointing compared to the paths leading up to them, the rooms are still a giant upgrade to the originals. I'm extremely glad Fairy wasn't shoehorned in; fine, whatever, make Fairy exist in the actual game, but don't taint the original Gyms and E4 with it. I liked the Primals, it makes so much sense lorewise as Groudon and Kyogre are some of the most ancient creatures to ever exist in the Pokémon universe, creating the very land and sea, which is exactly why I think it should be reserved for specific Pokémon - Ho-oh, Jirachi, Yveltal, etc, don't need Primal or Origin forms like the Gen 3 and 4 box legends do, because they simply aren't as old. However, there are issues. It doesn't fix certain relatively minor issues that the originals had, such as the BLOODY WATER STONE LOCATION RIP LOMBRE USERS, and it also arbitrarily changes the ways to get the three Regis which is,,,, SO weird like what was the point? Google how to get Regice in ORAS if you don't already know how. The lack of Emerald content is also extremely disappointing - YES there's the Delta Episode blah blah blah, we'll get to my issues with THAT when the time comes, but not having Emerald's encounters on routes is a tad unfortunate, and more to the point, Gym Leaders having their Ruby/Sapphire teams is very disappointing. I also hate Megas but I know I'm alone in that, and the whole "getting a Mega Lati at the midgame" is absolutely ridiculous. I'm also not as much of a fan of the overall artstyle in ORAS compared to RSE but that could easily be down to nostalgia. I also still hate May and ESPECIALLY Brendan as a rival (Brendan is like... a proper little misogynist lmao), and Wally is still mostly underutilised - speaking of, Wally getting Gallade is.... *sigh* ok conceptually I'm fine with it, Mega Gallade is clearly based on a hero, it makes sense to have a protector watching over him. But in reality all this is is the series further feminising Gardevoir, which itself is a knight that can be both genders. I hate the unnecessary gendering of it all. Also, agree on the extra Legends - they are MASSIVELY shoehorned in, but it's less intrusive than it COULD be. Overall, as I say, I enjoy ORAS for what they are. The Delta Episode, Megas, and a disappointing lack of some minor changes, do hurt the games in my eyes, but I still feel they absolutely are the definitive Gen 3 experience, and would recommend them to pretty much every Pokémon fan.
Exp Share was a held item in the originals. It worked on a single pokemon as a result. You can get it from the President after delivering his letter to Steven.
One the best pokémon games in my opinion, and definitively the best remakes. The art style, design changes and new stories keep me returning easily time after time. Only real gripe is the early mega with the Lati twins and that everyone uses the RS teams. In my opinion a remake of a game should use the best parts of it first before changing anything, so if an older game had an enhanced version, the remake should use that as its basis. I also hat that the Primal forms were cut alongside mega evolutions.
I first played Ruby on GBA and then bought Alpha Sapphire and damn I just loved this remake. It certainly is a REMAKE, because it does make a few changes, but I really liked that. The same way I always liked the changes on the special edition games like Emerald and Platinum. They always added a bit more to the experience and I see these changes that way.
you really did make me feel old by mentioning that this game was made 10 years ago. The thing i hate about Pokemon, is that we have these character sprites in Omega ruby and Alpha sapphire and then we see the chibi sprites with massive heads in brilliant diamond, shining pearl. Apart from that, i genuinely really loved the remakes for ruby and sapphire. Gen 3 and 4 are my favorite generations and i was super hyped for Gen 3's remakes. I remember hen it came out, it was the first game i actually pre-ordered and i got alpha sapphire (Regret it cause omega ruby is great too with Groudon) I remember playing it for hours on end, trying to explore each part of the map. I was happily surprised when i saw the improved graphics of meteor falls and i was so freaking amazed by the fight at origin cave, with not only the area, but the primal forms as well. I was even more amazed when i learned of the secret islands with the legendary pokemon, and the fact you could get pokemon like Zorua, and other pokemon through the dexnav. After i went through it a first time, i restarted it again with the same excitement. I started trying to build a team with Pokemon having egg moves through the dexnav, and even getting new teams before the 8th gym with Pokemon that can only be found through the dexnav. This was also the first game where i actively started shining hunting, getting shiny charmander and fennekin through breeding, and a Deino, Skorupi, Misdreavus and many more through dexnav chaining. I'm just sad that the online feature was taken down now, but i still love this game so much. Mega's were my favorite gimmick, and this game brought even more of them. I had the pleassure of using Mega Metagross, mega absol, the mega starters and many more!
My beloveds! My first hoenn games, and my main hub games for all my raising and breeding until basically just recently! Such good games and such a good era for the community! I still can't view them as not current games, I played them sooooo much and so did the community! They're evergreen imo!
These are my favorite Remakes and some of the best games in the series. Shame these games got so much hate just because the BF wasn't there. When ORAS added so much other new stuff and really set the standard for how Pokemon Remakes should be Makes me feel even more worse that Gen 4(my favorite generation got shafted with their remakes)
no. Remakes shouldn't be anything like ORAS. Or HGSS. Both of those were bad remakes that I haven't forgiven. BDSP didn't got shafted. It respected the originals while adding quality of life improvements and new content such as hideaways and ramanas park.
These games were fantastic remakes, and I really hope that Nintendo looks back at ORAS and HGSS when they eventually remake Gen 5. I don't think they quite add up to HGSS, as the Gen 2 remakes both greatly expanded upon the post game AND added the important elements of Crystal, which ORAS largely did not. But, I'd argue these games are certainly the definitive way to enjoy Hoenn, as the improvements made to these remakes outweigh the additions to Emerald, with the notable exception of the Battle Frontier, which I was admittedly upset wasn't included.
gen 5 remakes need to be faithful to the originals. They shouldn't be anything like ORAS and HGSS which i despise with a passion. And I much prefer Ruby and Sapphire over the remakes. ORAS added and changed too much which goes against what remakes are suppose to do.
I see where you're coming from. I can imagine that if you hold the original story of RSE in high regard, you may be disappointed in all the changes they made in ORAS. However, at least for the 3rd generation, if they did "faithfully" remake RSE, than we'd be missing out on 3 generations of Pokemon AND mega evolution, which would have been a HUGE disappointment coming fresh from X and Y. I don't think this would be as much of a problem for remakes of BW, as 5 generations of Pokemon is a hell of a lot more than 3 from RSE, and the remakes of DP have lowered our standards significantly. All in all, I have 2 major hopes for Gen V remakes: 1) They keep actually keep co-op multi battles. This is the BEST (imo) post-game feature, since it allows you to take on the battle tower/subway with your friends. I was legit furious to find out that it wasn't featured in BDSP even though it was a feature in the originals. 2) They actually remake B2W2 as well. I personally wasn't a fan of BW, as this is where (imo) the monster design started to fall from grace, and you can ONLY use Gen V Pokemon until you beat the game. Having all generations from the start of B2W2 added much needed variety from a team building perspective. That and the Pokemon World Tournament in the post-game of B2W2 is nothing less than epic.
@@NicMagz they are not remaking B2W2. They will remake BW with forms of Kyurem and Keldeo added in but they won't remake the sequels. The pokemon world tournament is like the battle frontier - a pointless feature used by a small percentage of fans. So that won't come back either
ORAS was quite good. However, I didn't like the updated music because they significantly reduced the trumpets. I LIKED THE TRUMPETS IN RSE! The music gave RSE a distinctive feel, while the remakes' music still has some of that feel but feels more generic.
there was no downfall. BDSP did what remakes always should be. Faithful to the originals while adding some new content. ORAS crossed the line by adding too much and changing things that didn't need to change.
