I love the idea of turning Pokemon that were previously event exclusive into an actual part of the game. It always seemed lame that mythical Pokemon were relegated to limited time events when their stories could be expanded so much more into things like the Delta Episode or even the entire game of Legends Arceus.
I unintentionally speedrun OmegaRuby when i borrowed it from a friend who was gonna sell it. Finished it in maybe 3-4 days playing afterwork on a friday and had a long weekend. Ive played emerald so much it was nice being back in Hoenn but some of the routes were definitely shorter now but the nostalgia got me to enjoy it and finish my dex by trading in mons from my other games only to remember my buddy still wanted to sell the cartridge with his 3DS so i proceeded to move everything to bank then to home. The post game was definitely a chain fetchquest but getting Rayquaza and deoxys made up for it.
I remember back when I first played this and I started the catching requaza part close to my bed time. I didn't realize I would go right into catching deoxys or that deoxys was part of the story. Unfortunately I had to power off and lose my progress but that was so cool to go to school and show people a catchable deoxys.
you should cover the legacy mods for yellow and crystal. emerald is being worked on as well. they are a great nostalgia trip for old players and kinda perfects the games without making crazy changes or changes the don’t make sense to the essence of the game
A good postgame and I still love to play it, although the sheer level of fetch quests and flying does get annoying. maybe if we went to some areas with other characters like Steven, Mr. stone or even Zinnia herself and we could explore areas while they followed us like we could in gen 4 with Riley and others.
This made me want to replay ORAS again, the Delta episode blew my and my friends' minds when we were all playing it a few years back. Definitely agree with a lot of the points you made about the story, it did seem like a wild goose chase and like the story is much bigger than they delivered, but it stayed on par with the other remakes before it, imo. Gen 3 was my fave gen, and to see it modified in the 3ds era with an extra Rayquaza-based post game, younger me was kicking her feet in absolute happiness. :)
@@KeebeThePlush there is no universe in which BW2's content works as a Delta Episode. You cannot make *an entire game* pushed into an epilogue chapter. There is too much in the story, too many new characters, and too much progression
Ah, the Delta Episode. This postgame honestly annoyed me, a lot actually. I'll keep this brief because your video covers most of my points, but I just did not vibe with it at all. The whole thing is a giant fetch quest, flying here there and everywhere and it's *exhausting* like there's very little excitement or intrigue until right at the end, so you're just being dragged around the entire region for little exposition dumps and then flying back somewhere again. The callbacks to Kalos do nothing for me because I hate XY, and the cave paintings weren't a particularly interesting backdrop for Zinnia's lore drop (disappointing because cave paintings CAN be super cool to see). Zinnia herself as the centre piece of the story also does nothing for me because I don't care about her. The game doesn't give me nearly enough to work with in order to get actually attached to her, or learn enough about her. I feel like I'm supposed to know who she is and what she stands for, but I don't because I haven't known her enough. Is she theoretically interesting? Very much so, but in the game, all she comes across as is a brat too lost in her own head to heed anyone else's counsel. Also, I had her music hyped up as one of the greatest tracks in video game history, and sure it's good but like, it's not even top 10 tracks in Pokémon, let alone in gaming, so that was super disappointing. There are good points about the Delta Episode - being able to catch Deoxys, seeing more of the hatred/rivalry between Rayquaza and Deoxys, and meeting a group of natives who have been in Hoenn since the reign of the Super-Ancients. But the stupidity of Mega Rayquaza (both design and it's mere existence), the lack of time spent with Zinnia, the constant back and forth, the extreme ease of the battles (bar Zinnia herself), and all the padding, make this an acceptable, but often overbearing and underperforming, postgame for me.

I remember the first time I unlocked the delta episode. I was completely unspoiled at the time. My eyes were glued to my ds
It would've been crazy if the space plot lead right into the ultra-beasts from Sun/Moon games. But BOY was this episode a lot to take in!

@vianabdullah2837 definitely agree with this sentiment!
I’ll die on the hill that omega ruby and alpha sapphire are the best remakes/3d games we’ve ever gotten

I wish bdsp had this but with platinum content and I especially hope if they remake the first BW they have an epilogue for bw2 content
I agree. They could easily squeeze the events of the later game of BW2 into a postgame episode.

It's nice we got some story
I will never forget the shock of finding deoxys l, or me and my ookemon going into 🎆SPACE!🎆
They really should have let us go to the moon and catch moon based pokemon and alien like ones.
You should make a romhack of a 3ds game
It be better if they shortened the delta episode and give us the battle frontier and that be a great post game
Off topic.. you should get into playing fan made games and regale your journeys with us
