My first starter was Charmander, but also Squirtle in Pokémon Red. I got Pokémon stadium first, so I was able to use Squirtle as an extra starter.

My first ever starter Pokemon was in Ultra Sun where I chose Litten and when I got stuck on the Dragon trial I traded my Litten now an Incineroar for a Solgaleo so I could beat the game

I just don't see it, at all. Pokémon has *never* made the same title for two consoles, as far as I'm aware. Look at BW2 and USUM - despite both being released well after the next console (3DS and Switch), they were both released exclusively to the old console. I see Gamefreak only releasing PLZA to either the original Switch, or the Switch 2, and due to their radio silence, I am fully convinced it will be the Switch 2 and that they haven't shared anything because it will reveal the new console.

With the world being the way it is now, econamy bad no matter where you live, so it would be a foolish decision to make it non backwards compatible both nintendo and the other company's will make the most amount of money from doing this

8:51 - Additionally, even if Ghost moves had worked properly, Shadow Ball, Shadow Claw etc. don't exist yet. The only Gen 1 damaging Ghost moves are Lick with it's 10 power and Nightshade which deals damage equivalent to the user's level. So type advantage would've been essentially worthless if it had been in place. And to cap it off, the only Ghost line in the game have Poison as a secondary type, which is weak to Psychic. The thing is despite that, Sabrina wasn't *that* hard because only her Kadabra had the move Psychic. Alakazam, her ace, had Psybeam, which isn't as powerful (although married to Alakazam's ridiculous Special stat, it's not to be laughed at) and Psywave which did partially random damage. So it couldn't effortlessly sweep a whole team. They fixed that from Yellow onwards though.

One of the most interesting things I've experienced as someone who loved the first 2 generations but is just coming back to the series for the first time since the early 2000s is being able to experience the discourse from the last 20+ years of the series as a whole instead of getting caught up in the immediate drama surrounding each release. It's led to me having some wildly unpopular opinions (I will die defending Delphox) but I believe it has also allowed me to be far more open to acknowledging the positives of even the most controversial entries in the series. While I don't believe fans should ever be unwilling to criticize the media they love, I think way too many people allow themselves to be so blinded by real or perceived flaws, both major and minor, that they refuse to see any of the good. From what I've seen over the last few months of my catching-up binge, the positives of modern Pokémon _massively_ outweigh the negatives. If it didn't, I don't think there's any chance I would have been pulled back into the fandom quite so quickly or deeply. Then again, maybe I just have terrible taste. I've spent the last day or so defending Joker: Folie à Deux so it's not just Pokémon that I'm used to having unpopular opinions on. Let that influence what you think of my Pokémon takes however you want, I just think liking things is way more fun than not liking things.

I still feel that Kieran's biggest mistake that cost him Ogrepon was not going with us and Carmine to get her mask's back, yes he clears her name back in town, but he could've done that afterwards. Since we are the ones helping Ogrepon out, it's kind of like how Ash in the anime formed bonds with most of his pokemon before capturing them, as we showed her our feelings by helping her, but because he remained behind, Kieran lost his chance out to show her his feelings, and if he had done so she might have been conflicted on who to go with making the battle over her even deeper. But that is not what happened. Sometimes one big mistake can cost one everything.

I thought I had to pick Squirtle because I had Pokémon Blue and Blastoise was on the cover. I was also sort of the pokémon wizard at my school and helped a lot of (younger) kids advance through their game because they didn't speak English.

I would borrow my brother's gameboy/ds lite over the years, my first starter was Litten in Moon. I'll always love gen 1, but I doubt I'll ever play the orginal games. I prefer FRLG

Rivals that actualyl act antagonistic are how rival sshould be objectively; fits the description fo them better and ties in with anime and manga. Its just how you write a good character.

Gen 8 and 9ers are the true problem. They dont understand what makes games good at all, and its pathetic really. Gens 2-6 are the true peak of Pokemon and the only ones worth playing.

Gen 1 is great still and way better than Gens 7, 8 and 9 any day objectively. I'd put it sixth place overall. It wasnt my first game either, I'm Gen Z and Pearl was my first game (Platinum is the definitive gen 4 game as with HGSS) 1. Gen 5 2. Gen 3 3. Gen 4 4. Gen 6 5. Gen 2 6. Gen 1 7. Gen 7 8. The first time I ever played pokémon was in 1999 on my cousin's game boy emulator. I decided to play because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I knew nothing about the games. I had never seen the anime but I knew kids were talking about it. I decided to try out Blue version and I picked Squirtle because I thought it was the cutest of the three. I even remember the first pokémon I caught was Rattata because my cousin told me it was pretty strong LOL

I think there will be in event in Z-A where if you have a copy of Legends Arceus you’ll get access to it, kinda like how you can get Darkrai with a copy of BDSP. Also what if having SwSh gives Volcanion, BDSP gives Hoopa, and SV gives you Diancie (Idk what LGPE could give)
