    The next acid I want to mention is the only beta-hydroxy acid - and that is Saliyclic
    Salicylic is oil soluble. That means that it is attracted to oils and can dig super deep in your pores until it finds it. Obviously this is perfect if you have oily or congested skin.
    Another benefit to the acne prone crowd is that it is antibacterial and an anti-inflammatory. It is also excellent at reducing the bumps and spots that are associated with acne.
    It too is considered a superficial peel - but it definitely has a much higher irritation factor than any of the acids I have previously mentioned. This acid definitely can cause a hot-peppers feeling when applied to the skin. It will also cause more, LARGER flakes than the mandelic or glycolic.
    This peel comes in 3 percentages.
    The first is our 3% mini peel. This is something that can be applied to a teen with problematic acne maybe 1x per week. Some adults like to use it as a toner if they are dealing with very problematic acne. We suggest leaving it on for about 5 minutes and rinsing 1-3x per week. This will cause very minimal - if any flaking. Stop using for a bit if your skin becomes too dry.
    The 15% is the place that we have most adults start with as a regular peel. So, again we are going to apply this a minimum of 6 times. We suggest that you do an entire peel series with this before you think about moving up to the next percentage, which is the 25%.
    There is a very large jump in irritation between the 15% and the 25%. You will definitely get more peeling with this percentage. What I love about the 25% is using it as a spot treatment on a pimple.
    You can only do this one time in a week….. Just apply a dab with a Q-tip. Leave it on for a couple of minutes and rinse. That pimple will heal quickly and be gone in a couple of days.

    I'm Asian, prone to acne scarring and post acne scar pigmentation. Recently, I did one layer of spot test treatment on my face after prepping my skin. The salicylic acid is 15% and the spot almost instantly began frosting after 15 seconds, so I rinsed multiple times with warm water, which then turned my skin a bit red and tight. Is the frosting supposed to happen, or is my face too sensitive?

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Salicylic has a BITE to it for sure. It can frost - but many times that is just the dried salicylic sitting there that is white. *If it was still white AFTER rinsing, then it was a frost. I would have suggested COLD water to soothe the skin. That is what our directions state. Keep it hydrated and protected from the sun with SPF 50 and it will flake just fine.

      The best thing for PIH is a daily topical such as our Fade Bright with alpha arbutin or Hydroquinone. Then a milder acid and Percentage. I would suggest a Mandelic 40 as a super option.

      All chemical peels perform the same task. They break down the protein bonds that hold those top layers of skin together. When those bonds are broken....the top layer will shed quicker than it normally would. So any chemical peel you choose is going to help. :) However, I do think alternating your Glycolic 30 with a Salicylic 15 is a great choice. Especially if you are experiencing acne. Salicylic is oil soluble and will really help to clear out the pores.

    Is it compulsory to reapply 15 percent salicyclic ever week. Can we use it two week once. 6 times.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You may apply it 1x every week, or 1x every 2 weeks, or even 1x every month. Whatever works for your needs is what you should do. Generally speaking, people will do a 1x every 1-2 weeks at the beginning to complete their series and clear out their pores. Then, after that they will cut back and do a peel only when necessary to keep their skin clear. That is usually something like 1x every 3 weeks.

    Can I use salysilic acid 15% for rosacea?

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only peel that we can "recommend" as safest for Rosacea is the Mandelic 22 peel. You may of course use any of the acids, just understand that inflammation can cause a worsening in your rosacea, so always be careful. For daily use we recommend High Octane C (for redness) mixed with Nano Hyaluoronic and/or Vitamin. B Complex.

      You can really do any peel. Just prep properly. I am assuming you want to do a tca. You will ALWAYS start with a 13% on the face at 1-2 layers only. Make sure to prep with a melanin inhibitor for at least 2 weeks like our Fade Bright or a hydroquinone. See this video for ethnic skin and peeling: www.platinumskincare.com/tca-peels-on-dark-skin/

      Salicylic is very safe for most people and all skin types due to the fact that it is an anti-inflammatory. If you don't like the strength of it, get a lower percentage (15%) or try a different acid such as Mandelic 40 or even a very mild Lactic 50.
