    Hi Marie
    You are just amazing with your formulas, what I also love about your videos are those fine details, when you mentioned "the glass dish is a watch glass". These details can easily be missed, but play such an important role in formulating. I'm saying this because I searched for the name of that dish for a good few hours before I got the answer. This is what sets your content apart from others. Thank you.

    You made it easy for people who are new to formulating, how to disolve salicylic acid. A lot of people assume you can just put it in a oil and warer emulsion AND be fine! Nope, it definitely needs to be disolved in a solvent! Thanks for sharing, Marie, your awesome!

    Hello Mari, first of all, thank you because you gave me a lot to learn 🙂
    I made this one but I added 1% H. A to make it a serum. I noticed that the Ph was still in a high range between 5 -5.6 so I decided to re-make the formula without adding the NaOH solution>>>> the Ph was around 5.6 >> I kept adding Lactic acid to reduce the Ph ... Unfortunately, I added around 6% lactic acid and the Ph was 4.9 :-( WHAT happened?! does H. A increases the PH? or should I change the salicylic acid brand?! Your advice, please.

    hi i've been using 2% PC's salicylic acid everyday and it keeps my back acne clear, and a bottle of it lasts only 2 weeks given the large area i need to treat.
    benzoyl peroxide is strong and I only use it for spot treatment also it stains the clothes, also physical exfoliants is too harsh for everyday use.
    and i need to make it in bulk to save $$$. love your video. you've made it so easy to replicate.
    so my question is can I go to 3% to make it a little more effective ? or should i just stick with 2%.
    also NaOH is difficult to source as it is highly corrosive and I chose to adjust pH with NaHCO3 (pharma. grade), will this be fine in this formulation ? ty

    I looked up propylene glycol usage on several suppliers’ websites and it’s 1%-20% will it be safe to use 45% in this formulation? I did read your blog a few times and I understand that you tested out the solubility of salicylic acid in both propylene glycol and Propanediol 1,3 at various percentages. I was about to try the formula and noticed this and I just want to make sure. Thank you so much! ❤

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That range is more of a usual/recommended range-it's not a regulatory upper limit. If you look at this product (theordinary.com/en-ca/pycnogenol-5-antioxidant-serum-100437.html) you'll see it's 95% propanediol, which is very very similar to propylene glycol and could actually be propylene glycol. Propylene glycol = propane-1,2-diol, and what we usually call propanediol is propane-1,3-diol, thiugh that is sometimes also called propylene glycol. (More info @ labmuffin.com/what-are-propylene-and-butylene-glycol-and-are-they-safe/).
