@@2tr6dinquwjos sure:) so in the morning I kept it simple. I started by using a gentle cleanser (I use the cerave hydrating cream-to-foam cleanser) , then moisturizer and then spf(La roche possay tinted mineral sunscreen) . At night I use the same cleanser then Differin Adapeline gel, then moisturizer.

    • @katherinediaz3153

@@2tr6dinquwjos and I’ve followed all of Dr.Shah’s and Dr.Maxfield tips. So the first month I did the adapeline gel every 3rd night, now I’m doing it every other night and next month I will do it everyday. Im also on the hunt for a good/gentle oil cleanser so I can start to double cleanse at night. I’m not sure how your skin is but mine is very sensitive and it gets easily irritated ,so when I tried creating a skin care routine in the past I introduced too many active ingredients too quickly(I used a benzyl peroxide cleanser and the adapeline gel and my skin got HORRIBLE😭)The biggest thing that has helped me this time is to keep it simple and slowly introduce actives. In 2 weeks I will introduce salicylic acid exfoliant . I hope this helped🫶🏼 the biggest thing it to be consistent and be patient. Results take time😄

I have suffered with acne for 30 years with severe face, neck, back, and chest. Skin routine does help, but you need to address internal issues first. I was on Accutane twice for six months both times with a double pill dosage and it drastically reduced my acne. Until my late 40s, I changed my diet and this helped dramatically. No sugar, no dairy, no fast food, reduce and eat better carbs. Basically, if you eat crap then you are going to look like it. I also incorporated intermittent fasting. This may not work for everyone, but it helped me. I added a skin routine after this change and now my skin is under control.

100% agree on the adapalene gel! If nothing else, this single ingredient was a total game changer to my routine. Apply once per night, just need to apply a thin film on your face and you're good to go. Just stay consistent because it does take at least 2+ months to really take effect. Great advice all around!

    • @ang3956

Yes couldn't agree more I was so distressed dealing with menopausal acne 😩My GP was giving me a mild gel to use which was useless until I found these guys promising the greatness of Adapelene. It took two months for me too and got worse before it for better but I'm now acne free just having to deal with the mild hyperpigmentation left behind

    • @hananashrafi1623

    • @ang3956
      @ang3956 ปีที่แล้ว +30

@@hananashrafi1623 you must apply it all over the face not spot treat. This will bring out any underlying spots under the skin at the same time but DONT stop the treatment. Unfortunately it will look worse before it gets better but you must STICK with it and I promise you it will clear up all of the acne. The great thing about Adapelene is that you can continue using it every night forever to keep acne at bay and it's safe. Good luck

I hardly ever write comments but I just had to. I want to thank you both, I have struggled with bad acne since I was on a birth control injection called Depo (please do not use this method of birth control, it may be easy to just get a injection every so often but it WILL ruin your skin and health!!) now that I’ve been on regular pill birth control for a few years my acne stopped being so aggressive. However, I was left with the worst scars, I was so self conscious. I’ve tried everything but nothing seemed to work to stop the minor acne and get rid of the scars. I’ve been to the dermatologist nothing they did helped and I couldn’t afford to keep going as I have other things going on health wise. So I kind of gave up on my skin and accepted the deep, dark scars and minor painful acne spots. That was until I stumbled across your videos and found this one in particular. I started using the products recommended and it was insane the results I got. I literally almost cried when I realized my face hasn’t been this clear since I was in 8th grade. I’m so incredibly happy, I really began to think it was impossible for my skin to look good again. Thank you again for giving those who may not be able to see a dermatologist/esthetician educated guidance. You guys are saints I swear!!!

Ever since then I've been trying different things to get back on track with it but it's so hard. Just about a month ago or so I just stopped my acne prevention completely to see if a little detox could help my skin. I'm just starting to research to add different things in again and I searched for a simple routine video and found this. I'm so grateful that this is so current and well put together. simple and easy to understand and research/purchase the products as well. Adapalene did transform my skin for the best, especially in terms of texture and brightness. Saw a massive difference within the first year of use. Also helped me get rid of big angry hormonal pimples. However, I do still break out - spots looks smaller and tend to go away quicker - but still leave red marks which last forever. I don't find it particularly drying anymore, however even applied over a moisturiser I think it disrupts my skin barrier quite a bit (I use no other actives really)

I can't remember which video I've seen on your skin care advice so I'll just write it here 😂 I had a severe acne problem with acne scars all over my cheeks. I couldn't get a dermatologist to check it out because the next possible appointment would be in a year... I bought products based on your advice for different skin issues and I've been using them since 2 months now. Just today I have quite realised how much better my skin has become. Instead of more than 8 pimples on my face everyday there may be just one every 3 days. The blackheads on my nose and cheeks are getting so small it's barely noticeable and the big pores I had are turning the same. The redness is less and the ascne scars are the only issue remaining, but I feel more confident than ever. Today is my graduation day and I feel confident to be on photos taken there!
I am thankful that people like you are out there giving professional advice to people all over the world explaining what could work and couldn't. You're amazing and I am inexpressable thankful for every recommendation you're giving.

I had acne on dry skin in my 20s (hormonal), got solved with BC, a light pill (Mercilon), but I have been using Nivea's blue tin as my main moisturizer since I was 3 years old. I am 50 now, still using it. Yes, since the age of 3, when my mom started this on me thanks to our internist. If there is one constant in my skincare, it is that blue tin. I don't think I look half bad for being 50. ;)

I think these are great routine but one ingridents they miss is AHAs (gycolic and lactic acid). My skin literally changed when I started using the ordinary AHAs/BHAs peeling solution. I think incorporating it and using less of saliyic acid is better. Incase you dont see quick improvement with BP and Salyic acid, Remove salicyic acid and go for AHAs/BHAs solutions.

I’ve usually preferred to use all my actives at night and opt for just cleansing and sunscreen in the morning. So when i was doing a bunch of different actives in the past, i would kind of A/B it. So MWF was routine A which was retinoid + moisturiser, and other days were routine B which was SA+ BP + moisturiser. I stopped doing all of that when i did my second round of low dose accutane, then i had my PCOS treated somewhat but acne is popping up again so i think i need to start getting back to a routine with more actives. Gonna go pick up some differin tmrw

Appreciate this so much! But I’m a bit confused when it comes to mixing ingredients. BPO should not be mixed with Salicylic? Retinol should not be mixed with Salicylic? So if I understand it correctly, my routine is wrong? Cetaphil Gentle Clear Cleanser (Salicylic) > CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum > Cetaphil Mattifying Moisturizer (Salicylic)

My routine that has helped my acne that I was dealing with for 10+ years:
Gentle cleanser (generic Walgreens compared to cera ve)
Benzoyl peroxide (index fingers length) morning and night
Cera ve hydrating hyalouronic acid serum
    Moisturizer (generic Walgreens or Walmart)
Neutrogena breakout free moisturizer (for day time)
I take vitamin B5 also. My conclusion is that it plays a big role in wound healing. Thats just my experience. Hope it’ll help someone too

Tailoring is expensive. Whether it's your acne routine or your clothes. Whether it costs time or money- it's expensive.
It took me over 10 years to tailor my face routine and I'm still working on it. Can't afford going to see a personalized derm, but I haven't given up.

I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment, but I just downloaded the acne routine you guys left in your bio!
You asked and I’ll gladly answer: this video is SUPER helpful as someone who has suffered greatly from acne for almost 10 years, particularly because I can’t see my dermatologist as frequently as I’d like to.
With how many simple (but very important) questions I always have about the order in which I should be applying products, and also just making sure I won’t cause any unnecessary irritation and inflammation (or extra dryness, either), it really helps to have a channel like this one where actually licensed professionals give advice on topics like prevention treatments and daily vs nightly routines (with a little wiggle room and variation in them, because as you said, everybody’s skin is different).
Thank you so much for helping me work with my skin instead of fighting it, and for helping me overcome my anxiety and indecisiveness along with improving my self-confidence, as well. I’m SO glad you’re both here, and I hope you truly understand what an immensely positive impact you have on all of us every time you take the time to create and post content :).

Hey guys! Love you two so much! My face is really clear and I have a pretty decent skin care routine with tretinoin mainly for pre-aging purposes. However, I struggle so much with backne. I use a 2% salicylic body wash and I feel like it helps a little bit. I've also used 10% ben peroxide body wash with little help as well. Some weeks it's fine.. other weeks it literally hurts. What do you reccomend? Also I would say I struggle with itchy dry skin overall.. even though on my face I have a decently oily T zone with hair that tend to get oily fast. So idk haha. Anyways maybe make a body acne focused video could be a great idea for people like me with questions. Thanks if for reading this if you do!

I like mattifying moisturizers during the day, but at night I need something rich to counteract the irritation/dryness from the active ingredients. Problem is, most rich, amazing creams with all those oils and waxes that make the face feel so comfortable break me out. But there has to be one i can use. Like there has to be a shea butter based moisturizer that doesnt make acne worse.

Salicylic acid actually always aggregates my acne without fail, no idea why, they say it’s a purge although I tried it religiously for months and found it to be horrible for my skin. I stay away from that 100% .
Benzoyl though helped, but after a while my skin built a tolerance.
    Adapaline definitely works!
